  • Timber Base Rails are a very popular addition on a polytunnel as they do away with the need for digging a trench and allow for cover tensioning.
In this video we show you how to fit Timber Base Rails on a Garden Polytunnel. (Please refer to your construction guide if building a Commercial Polytunnel as fixings differ slightly).
Start by bolting a length of timber down the length/side of the tunnel, starting at one end with a corner bracket around the end hoop. Add lengths of timber end to end down the length of the polytunnel, fixing to each intermediate hoop with a P Clip. At the opposite end of the tunnel, a corner bracket should be used around the end hoop to fix the timber. Join the lengths of timber together using an 8in timber joiner and nails on the inside of the tunnel.
Repeat this process on the second side of the polytunnel.
At each corner, an end timber should be bolted to the corner bracket and to the outside face of the timber door post. Hammer the nail supplied through the side timber into the end timber. Cut off any overhang.

      Hello,
      Thank you for your enquiry.
Timber base rails on garden polytunnels are always supplied with timber joiners, as shown at 2 minutes 27 seconds, to join the lengths of timber together. However, the 'spacers' are only required if the polytunnel has side ventilation screens.
      Kind regards,
      Premier Polytunnels
