How to start the keto diet: healthhomeandhappiness.com/ho...
The carnivore diet typically only includes ‘meat and no plants’ including muscle meat (steaks, roasts, ground meat, etc), offal (liver, kidneys, etc), and bones and cartilage as made into bone broth. Fish, poultry, and red meat are all consumed. Eggs (ie bite-sized meat) are usually allowed. Sea salt and other seasonings are allowed, with a strict warning against ‘plants’. In some versions, things that come from animals (cheese, milk) are also allowed.
The carnivore diet gives the body a significant shift to try to clear up chronic or acute health conditions. In addition, people try the carnivore diet to be trendy or to experiment with different ways of eating.
Temporary? Yes or no. Some people eat for this for a 1-week or 1-month reset, some make it a permanent way of eating.
Difficulty level: Simple, but difficult. This diet will put you into ketosis if you aren’t already on keto (doing keto before carnivore is a common progression) transitioning into ketosis can make people sick for the first few days/week.

Diagnosed with Parkinson's in Dec 2014 and was declining for 5.5 years prior. Carnivore has given me my life back. I honestly can't recommend it to others yet as I don't know the effects it has on everyone, but I want to get the message out that it's worth trying. Highly recommend listening to your body on this. @jonsan astari The human body is made up of more foreign cells from bacteria and other microorganisms than actual human cells. What you eat is what they eat too. Fiber from different types of plants is what they feed on and what you eat is really important because of this. These bacteria make up part of your immune system which is why if you have too much antibiotics you will die. If these good bacteria die, you die. Plants rotting in your gut, is those plants feeding these good bacteria. If you eat only meat, then you starve them. We are not carnivores, we have evolved to depend on these bacteria, which is why fiber in your diet is important.

The SAD diet is deficient in almost every vitamin and mineral. Meat is the most vitamin and mineral dense food in the world. Obviously then mostly meat is the preferred human diet. Native Americans, who ate mostly meat, reportedly (from accounts by colonists) lived to 150 when settlers first arrived in the new world. They expected them to be disease ridden and unhealthy but were surprised that even the elderly were fit and strong and thrived with limited shelter in the winter. This isn't because of their active lifestyle - native american women were relatively sedentary being taught to make animal skin blankets, jewelry, and cook rather than hunt. It was because they lived off mostly meat, with small amounts of plants. Very nutritious naturally raised meat.

Exactly! It's hard to describe unless you've seen the difference between feed lots and grassfed ranches.

    • @annbrown3037
      @annbrown3037 5 років тому +41

Grazing animals actually improves top soil and general ecological health : traditional pastoralists would move their animals in an approximately 4 month pattern.
The animals don't uproot the grass (or other herbs they may eat) but tear them off at ground level. This causes the roots to die-back and this creates loam. Loam, as we know is...carbon ! This process actually traps carbon out of the atmosphere into the soil and provides a spongy layer where water evaporates much more slowly, reducing the need for extraneous water supply. The animal's waste is packed with bacteria which nourishes/replenishes the soil's natural microbial load, this fertilises the soil and feeds those torn-off plants which, during the approx 4 month rest whilst the animals are moved around, regrow, pushing out a new root system which just continues the cycle.
Of course - with the exception of specific plants that can cause ham tho livestock animals - the farmer will deal with those in different ways but usually not with chemicals - the use of pesticides/herbicides is massively reduced since poisoning one's livestock or depriving them of edible plant matter is not in the farmer's best interest.
I could go on, but for my point, suffice to say that raising livestock in this way not only produces higher nutrition content food for us, massively improves animal welfare but is way way way better for the environment than massive, chemical-laden mono-crop agriculture.

shakes shakes people literally buy truckloads of cow poop to fertilize plants. As long as the land isn’t over grazed, it’s good for the soil. Have you seen cow poop before? It’s just fermented/broken down grass and biodegrades quickly.

Herbivore fecal matter is biodegradable, carnivore is not. That being said, we have filtration systems and government regulations, and we've been doing it for years with no ill effect. Cow poop is harmless to the environment, it's actually enriching for it. My mother used our dirty guinea pig cedar chips to fertilize her garden, works wonders.

I started carnivore 3 weeks ago. I have hypoglycemia and about a week in, I started feeling a bit week, so I just added a bit of creamer to my coffee instead of heavy cream and it seemed to help. I had to drop my Dr. Pepper cold turkey and I really struggled with this and it caused migraines but it was short lived. I’ve dropped 10 lbs and happy about this.

The sugar cravings that controlled me, are no longer even a thought (and, I work in a cafe where I'm surrounded by sugar for 8 hrs. a day). I love the new simplicity of food. @@lynette599 Okay, I just read about oxalates. Some oxalate rich foods include spinach, rhubarb and amaranth which make up a very small portion of your diet and oxalates are lowered through cooking anyway. You are acting like oxalates are a problem with veganism while it's actually a problem with just the oxalate rich foods. You don't have to eat those oxalate rich foods if you don't want to. Why would you have any excuse not to go vegan then? You like to focus on one little problem with a FEW plant foods that you don't even have to eat on a vegan diet, ignoring that meat is a huge contributor to hypertension, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, obesity and strokes. And the thing with animal products is that you can't remove the unhealthiness from them. You can remove oxalates from your vegan diet by eating foods low in oxalates, but there are no animal products low in heme iron, saturated fat, IGF-1, trans fats and cholesterol. This is the difference.

I’ve been on the carnivore diet for 167 days. I’ve felt really good on this method. Last week and yesterday, I went off of it a little and had some French fries and onions with my pattie melt. I started to feel like shit with low energy and a bad attitude. I think this incident has convinced me that the rabbit food is certainly not a good choice. I don’t like feeling tired and irritable. I was startled about just how bad I felt and I don’t want to experience that again if I don’t have to. The carnivore is a better choice of food. I've been on the carnivore diet for 2 months, though I still struggle with impulsive sugar consumption via ice cream, etc. I never did well on keto because I couldn't keep track of my carb intake.
Before this diet, I was one of those people that was slowly dying, calling out sick from work often, you name it. On this diet, so far I've only been sick once, but that was a cold creeping on the same time I started CV. For the first time in my life, my instincts tell me to exercise, instead of having to motivate myself to exercise! It is a positively liberating experience!!!
It helps that, thanks to this diet, I've also lost 22.5 lbs since February 13th, 2019-a mere 2 months ago! My autoimmune diseases aren't on constant guard, so I can actually function mentally and physically! Praise God, my Healer, for ALL the steps that I look back and see that led me here!!!!
"Probably not going to overeat on the carnivore diet." For those unaware, on the carnivore diet, you eat until you are satisfied. For me, "satisfaction" feels something like, "Ugh, I don't want to put another bite in my mouth." Lol When you're *hungry*, it tastes delicious!!! When you're not hungry, or maybe have some hunger, but aren't hungry enough, it still may not sound good.
Zero calorie counting. You don't have to add fat to the meat, particularly if it's fattier cuts. It is optional.

@Burnt Orange i pretty much agree . however i have the feeling that by eating meat only for a certain time you might reset your body and get rid of some inflammatory syndromes. why ? because you reduce your nutrition to one simple nutriment. it give the immune system a break. however i have the feeling also that it is wise to go back to omnivorous diet (without refined sugar ) to get the benefits from plants. one think to consider also is most of allergies are from plants (some berries and fruits ) and probably plants that you are not aware of. i never heard an allergy for meat ( but i might be flat wrong also)

I am a Keto teacher AKA personal trainer and I'm on day 66 of doing carnivore keto in amazing side effects I have is I'm getting insane stronger in the gym I mean everything I feel I'm getting buffer a crazy thing and why people don't talk about it I used to always have gas and now I barely ever fart but it's the best thing I've ever done I've been doing the ketogenic diet for 2 years but the carnivore diet is the coolest thing I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to plant but good job.....p.s. I'm almost stage-ready in the carnivore diet is making it just far too easy to get there.....

Carnivore has been such a positive change in my life. It helps me to feel energetic, I don't get spurts of shaking starvation during the day. When it's meal time, I can take it or leave it. I was so foggy, actually wondering if I was showing symptoms of dementia just in my 30's because I couldn't focus, was confused and disoriented feeling and so on. I cut out sugars and carbs and felt awesome within a week or so. Now, I do have a few non carnivore things from time to time, such as some tomato with feta or in the summer I'll have a little fruit. I will also have honey on occasion, but very minimal. I never want to feel how I used to feel ever again. I was vegetarian for 20 years and it ruined my life. It's the least healthy I've ever been. Carnivore for the win!

If your interested in gut and brain health there is no better source off information other than David Perlmutter. I love his books I appreciate all his interviews he's done. Theres Mikhaila Peterson and her dad Jordan Peterson(depression runs in the family, allergic to pretty much everything other than animal food), Kelly Hogan ( 9 year carnivore and blogs about it ). Frank Tufano, Primal Edge Health, Sean Baker (MD), Ken Berry (MD). All support primal dietary needs, ancestry is definitely a 100% required thing to know, David Perlmutter preaches it because theres minor differences in what each body produces so certain people don't react to something where most population does.

  • @MrMcGillicuddy

I'm glad you did this. You won't regret it. I wouldn't worry about the gut microbiome issue. Before I ate like this I grew a lot of my own food and lacto ferment it. I still do. What I've realized is that fermentation isn't really to ingest the probiotics from the fermented veggies. Those don't make it past your stomach since it's 1.5 ph and kills everything. Fermentation is just to simulate the digestive environment in polygastric mammals/ruminants. Those probiotics access what we can't and when we eat them they die off but our body absorbs the nutrients from the yeast bodies and broken down proform vitamins that were inaccessible to us when the vegetation was in a raw state.
The bacterial balance in our gut is intact from eating what we are designed to digest. Hypercarnivores can handle some fruit and leafy greens and things in nature and it's good to include scant amounts sometimes but it's not necessary for a healthy gut. There is quite a bit of literature from the early 1900's that highlighted all kinds of reasons it's bad to include fiber and too much plants.

Pepper Conchobhar, great to know! I am blood type B+ and do so well on carnivore diet, mostly red meat though. I was sick most of my life growing up on pork, fish, organic chicken and grains. My families are fine with this diet. They are all blood type A and my mom is AB I think. I was in pain all the time that I could not do much at all but stay in bed. Now that I feel good on carnivore diet, I am afraid to suggest it to my family member bcos of their blood type. They do have issue with health right now but not as bad as I was. I ate mostly red meat and some fish. So what do you eat mostly?

@@KARENboomboomROXX Guys I just got my StrateGene results back yesterday and my mind is blown. For me, it turns out that it's not about the blood type. It's about antigen excretion. I have two copies of FUT2. I'm a 'non-secretor' and that means that I don't have any blood type antigens in my saliva, gi tract, sinuses, tears, sweat, etc. Those antigens are supposed to protect us.
That leaves my mucus membranes vulnerable to every kind of infection - namely fungus. Which I happen to suffer from badly. My esophagus is scarred from thrush.
Also can't convert beta-carotene into Vitamin A and I have to get that from animal sources. (two different genes that prevent this conversion - both with double mutations for that trait so yeah. I'm NOT a genetic vegan. I am quadruple not going to convert beta-carotene! lmao! My body says to screw veganism.)
Other weird one is that I can't do the conversions for folate to choline. I have to eat choline directly. Egg yolks. Lots of egg yolks.
There's so much more, but it specifically states that I have one gene for fat breakdown that means I would do best on an "early inland hunter gatherer." I can't deal with Omega 6. Seed oils are poison to me. (I already figured that out.) As is grain-finished herbivores. I need a 2:1 Omega 6 to 3 ratio. Ridiculous. Can't cope with lectins at all. And on and on.
I process saturated fat like a champ.
I knew it. I am a freaking Carnivore, dammit. Plant are poison. Meat heals.
