I literally fell in love with “Set a Drift of Memory Bliss” as a kid and I love the sample of “True” Spandu Ballet. Their smooth vocals and beats was always therapeutic to me. R.I.H. Prince Be 🙏🏾🙏🏾🛐✝️🕊️🕊️🤍💙🩵🩵
Their style would be perfect for today's music scene. I was just listening to their music the other day and it hit different than when i was a teenager. They were actually ahead of their time
Been a big fan since I was a little kid. Loved the samples, the groove and the smooth rhymes. They were nothing like Le La Soul. Another group dear to my heart.
They forgot to mention the song set a drift was a tribute to the brother who died at 2 years old....witness by his brother...fhi...Yes, Attrell Cordes, also known by his stage name Prince Be, the lead singer of the hip hop group P.M. Dawn, witnessed his younger brother Duncan drown in a park lake when Duncan was two years old:
Damn, knowing this now, the whole song hits different. Thank you for letting us know. Could you imagine the horror of seeing your brother or sister drown and there is nothing you can do to save them? I wouldn't wish that on my enemies.
That doesn’t make any sense, as the lyrics to the song are clearly about a woman. “She broke her wishbone and wished for a sign I told her whispers in my heart were fine What did she think she could do? I feel for her, I really do And I stared at the ring finger on her hand I wanted her to be a big P.M. Dawn fan But I had to put her right back with the rest That's the way it goes, I guess”
Prince B is the true "Abstract" lyrical genius. I was buying his and KRS-One albums(Cassette Tapes). Nobody ever tells me what and whatnot to like. I consider his first (2) albums classics, and i'm from Harlem,Nyc. FBA
I first got into them back in 2012. The Utopian Experience is one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time, and when I lived in Japan for a little from 2013-2014, this album was a godsend for me (this one and Screamadelica by Primal Scream). I remember walking down the street at night listening to it, and it definitely helped boost my morale.
It only goes to show that Pm Dawn's fans and followers cannot be deceived. "Set A drift down on memory bliss", is one of a kind and or a phenomenal. Even though its the one song that many had loved, it still comes from the original singers. They even tried to change its meaning, I believe its about the dawn and no abbreviated meaning at all.
The music and art of the "original " PM DAWN was all so beautiful. What is left of the group is a brand of disrespect to the original group. God rest your soul Prince Be.
@@dabu73 Uhhhh go back and check your facts PM Dawns first single "Ode to Forgetful Mind" dropped in 1988 and the album was released in 1991. But the music was already circulating. Were some of you guys even born? Back then music circulated on mix tapes long before being actually released. DooWop, Ron G, etc. I bought De La Soul's first album when it dropped. I didn't say "copied" I said "influenced." Plus unlike many of you I actually worked in the industry when hip hop was just taking off.
I remember Snoop Doggy Dogg totally disrespected PM DAMN as well. They saw Snoop after the Chronic blew up and Doggystyle dropped . They tried to speak to him cause they were huge fans of Snoop and Snoop looked directly at them and ignored them like they wasn't even there. All because KRS -1 didn't respect them so Snoop didn't respect them as well If you ask me they were ahead of their time .
That's so lame that two guys who weren't involved with the hits and success, who nobody wants to hear are currently dragging the PM Dawn name through the mud. Sad.
Racism was a mountain..not a mole hill ..its unfortunately a mountain we as blacks haven't climbed yet!! Never forget or act as if they see us as equally.. With this rhetoric.. Im glad PM Dawn is gone 🎉
They had no problem with De La Soul but these two were trashed. They were great and today still are. Through Patient Eyes and Set Adrift On Memory Bliss are still great.
They were ahead of their time!!😢
Then came outkast in my opinion both groups style was eclectic shout out to p.m. dawn
Looking at the video you are exactly right they were waaaay ahead of they time
❤ Die without you ❤was the best song PM Dawn made

The wild part is that while they were being called soft KRS's og was molesting children. Wild world we live in.
🎶but that's the way it goes~I guess🎶
If you want a really dreamy groove of theirs that isn't mentioned enough, try out "paper doll". Thank me later if you haven't heard it before lol.
@@faynitawilliams4437 set a drift paper doll were my favorite
I still bump this till this day until I die perhaps, it saddens me to watch this video, but still informative.
It’s 2024 and I still listen to them
👍
Me 2
I just bought PM Dawn's greatest hits off amazon and I Love it !!! ;)
P. M dawn was dope when I was young.. they had some good music you can’t deny that
Their style would be perfect for today's music scene. I was just listening to their music the other day and it hit different than when i was a teenager. They were actually ahead of their time
This song still hot 🔥 in 2o24 🤔 🎤 🎶

Set adrift on a memory bliss will always stand the test of time
They were visionaries. And different from DeLaSoul. Now I’m gonna go back and listen again.
I just started listen to them again.
I love Prince Be's spiritual style. I'm still listening to "Looking Through Patient Eyes" 09Nov2024.
I dig that song so much
Me too I absolutely love it ❤
Very original group . When I was young I didn’t understand them. But I respect them much they’re very creative !
Die Without You still hits hard..
Yeah I think this new gen PM should call it a day, they cant replicate what Prince Be and Eternal created, sorry guys... curtains down...
LoL, I like that, ": Curtains down" 😂
Facts I love p.m.dawn
Exactly. It's actually quite ridiculous. Unique and ICONIC can NOT ever be replaced. They get an F for effort though.
They were a cool group I love Prince b he was beautiful and soulful
Luv this group when I was a kid. Still bump them to this day 🔥
All I can say to this day is watching boomerang and hearing that song come on in that movie has a special place in my heart
Great music remains timeless.❤❤❤
They were EXTREMELY ahead of their time.
Been a big fan since I was a little kid. Loved the samples, the groove and the smooth rhymes. They were nothing like Le La Soul. Another group dear to my heart.
True, but even if they were similar in some way, why would there have to only be one? How many other Hip Hop groups are similar?
@@Maki-00 I fully agree with you.
These guys were pushing the envelope with their music.i had no idea that Prince B had died may he Rip
Pm dawn bliss album is amazing and im a hard core hip hop head and im telling u thst album is magic to this day ahead of its time.

No doubt big into all music as a kid but they always stood out ... first two albums are the 💣
💐💖 Iconic and way ahead of their time. Completely underrated.
I want to watch and listen to this video so bad but I just can't take this man's voice.
It's AI....
Paper Doll is my favorite. Love it. PM Dawn is a vibe.
I lov❤ed pm dawn.
Miss you Attrell...❤
Omg. I was just thinking about them!
They made so great music. I love to hear there song on the radio back in the day
I got Prince Be autographe at the Toy's R Us on RT440 in Jersey City before Christmas in the early 1990s
I had this album from when it first came out, and i still bump it...

P M DAWN was my favourite group and there is nothing Krs one can do about it
Their music reminded me when I got to US 💖👏💖👏

8:19 • a HOOD CLASSIC!! That movie is an all around classic- Eddie didn’t miss back then. The year of the suave debonair black man, classy.
Loved their music when I was a teenager in the 90s💯💯💯
Still playing their songs a great group ahead of the their time . 🙌🏽👍🏽🔥
Awe man! I love their music.
I didnt know there where brothers. I liked the song "'Plactic" . I remember when BDP kicked those fools off stage. "Die without you" was the jam.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥“Patient Eyes” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
These guys were 🔥. The only thing that stands out about the movie Boomerang was their song
I always loved this group. Many artist like “the dream” “Xavier Omar” De La Soul etc were probably influenced by these guys. Die without you was heat
De La Souls first album was released like three years before PM Dawn came out and they don’t really sound alike at all
“Influenced De La Soul” is one of the most ignorant post Ive ever read.

PM Dawn was too thorough. They ain't sound nothing like De La
They was a dope duo i dont care what anyone says!! Patient eyes was my fav!!
Hip hop is not all about being hard .pm dawn definitely was ahead of there time
KRS-One!!!!!!!
So ahead of their time
They were on another level. Sometimes it's OK to respect the line of genre
I would blast pm Dawn with my headphones❤❤ as a teen
I will never forget.....love forever!!!!

I loved PM Dawn music
That was good. Who would have thought all this would go down. 😮
Shyt i listen to PM Dawn right now

I even bought their second album.
RIP to Prince Be but KRS-1 once said “ How many emcee’s must get dissed? Before somebody says DON’T FCK WITH KRIS!”

Diabetes is no joke, folks. I am a son of diabetic parents. My pops passed away a year ago from kidney failure.

No, they made music for the world.

F that AI voice, its bad enough I have to be forced to hear it on Facebook/Instagram
Agreed. Anything to save a buck these days. I'm sure there are talented people who would have narrated this for free out of love.

So Much for Kindness Respect Sensitivity Krs.
I liked PM Dawn and always wondered what happened to them. Ironically, I thought the heavyset dude was PM Dawn and the skinny guy was the DJ.
I love PM Dawn
This is my first time hearing of them i thought this was a 2024 group and i would call myself a hip-hop head im 45 years old but i learn something
I forgot about P.M. Dawn loved them! I just downloaded all their music! Thank you 🙏🏼
Lord, what a mess. So sad.
I think the first rap song to be # 1 on the hot 100 was the song Rapture by Blondie
The cousin that quit the group and joined the Navy must have been kicking himself after he found out they were blowing up.
At least they had a hit…….😢
PM DAWN was MY Laid Deep Vibe GO 2. 😎
