This is a Summoning Salt-style History of Speedrunning video about the last 100 uncleared levels in Mario Maker. Team 0% is trying to clear every level in Mario Maker before the WiiU and 3DS server shutdown on April 8th, 2024. Will they achieve their goal? These levels are the ones that might stand in their way.

@@yoshivolk5831 i cannot think of a way to explain this message so i will not
I love how Trimming the Herbs was treated as a Final Boss, rather than a technical win.
This was amazing
Trimming the herbs shows that Team 0% really achieved the impossible here.
Team 0% did the imposible and did 101%
Super unjustifiable response by the community after it was found out to be TAS’d though. I get the disappointment after being led on for a week, but it should’ve been a momentous occasion that was celebrated thoroughly in spite of that. All I could tell after the reveal is that half the community collectively cried and were bummed out after finding out their goal was met, because the only thing that matters in a goal is the way it’s accomplished. It makes them look like nothing more than thrill seekers, and I feel sorry for the runners that even more time was put into torturing themselves for a goal that was already completed.
@@HarambaeXelonmuskfans Agree. But I was still marvelous to see everyone come together for such a goal when there was no need to.
I am really grateful for the people that join for such a supporting and friendly competition over all.
i probably didn't convey it correctly, i wouldn't say half the community was bummed out, i would say 3/4ths of the community felt conflicted. they were happy about a win but confused how to feel, since they'd already invested themselves in the grind, watched 10+ hours of grinding tth, debated who would get the clear, but then everything was suddenly gone. it was like reading a 200 page novel, where you're on page 165, the characters come across a final obstacle, a dangly bridge, and then they just walk across it, and you find out the last 35 pages of the book were blank. like yeah it was a great book, and i'm happy i read it, but wish it was different in this one way.
this is all to say i can't say they were "unjustifiable". the way a goal is accomplished matters to me, and i respect people who are like me in this aspect, and i also respect those who don't agree, and are happy with the accomplishment itself
@@HarambaeXelonmuskfansif that was known earlier it would have been hella boring. None of the other remaining levels were an actual problem for the project
I do like the ending, it was originally such a let down to the community, I’m sure, but it became anything but that after it was cleared, it became even more hype, after all, every other level wasn’t technically a “First Clear” as they were all levels that the creator cleared them first. But this, was a true first clear. A level so difficult not even the creator could beat it. But one person could beat it. They beat the “impossible” level. They truly got the first clear on the final level
Oooo I never considered that!
That makes it so much better
They truly did 100% the game, as they managed to achieve both endings: The Good Ending (The Last Dance) and The True Ending (Trimming The Herbs)
more like true ending and good ending
normal mode ending and hard mode ending
More like a 101% !
@@Illager_Fries_Gaming The good ending and best ending.

Isn't it so poetic that The Last Dance was the final level ?!?!
bro bro b r o can you believe it that the last dance was the last dance was the last dance dance ???
Isn't it so poetic that trimming the herbs was cleared by sanyx91SMM2?
Isn't it so poetic that i beat a level called "Mario Goes to Mcdonalds" before my year long online subscription ran out?
Isn’t it so unpoetic how everyone’s commenting the same thing on every video?
HEY WAIT A MINUTE DIDN'T I SAY THAT
Holy fuck that ending legitimately made me a bit emotional, I cannot even begin to imagine how everyone in the community must've felt. Doing the seemingly impossible; beating a TAS level.
Fantastic video
Couldnt hear streamer cry gg video
For a video about the "history" of the last 100 levels, I would have liked to see more of the actual history, like how Last Hope was a level to be used as a test to join a Mario Kaizo team, but no one ever beat it, or how Welcome Extreme is a remake of a level called "Welcome"' which is one of the very first levels ever uploaded to Mario Maker
this is fair, i didn't know either of those facts. i didn't do really any research into any of the level creators other than ahoyo, just lots of testimonies from players. good feedback :)
damn thats actually so interesting
@@henryst-1that must felt like asking your grandparent about his war days lol
Maybe the correct title would be "The Race to Beat Mario Maker's Last 100 Levels"
Yeah it felt more like an overview or recap than a history
>Is called "The Last Dance"
>Another level afterwards
I can't believe nobody is talking about the guy who literally performed inputs which only a TAS normally would be able to do... if you think about it, it's insane to say the least. I mean props to all thw community and the 0% team, but give this man some recognition..
All this “give them the recognition” and still you don’t know their name :)
@@garethma7734sanyx!!
I didn't realize TTH was cleared. Actually pogged at the end. Lmfao
Great video and hey 25:40 that's me! thanks for including me lol, I actually have a big story with trimming the herbs, I had interest in the level and decided to go for it, in august of 2023, 25h and 4 months later, I had lost all hope that I would be able to do it, the level was a BEAST and I didn't even realize it, it was also the least fun level I had EVER played, but I never admitted I gave up, I was scared I would be insulted because of this (I was) so I just waited, until team 0 removed my dibs because there were less than a 100 levels in the 2017 category (or something like this). Months later one of my friends Sanyx, who has IMMENSE determination and talent, gave it a go, and beat it :)
Again, great video, I really liked the way you explained all this
thanks shib! yeah if not for your dibs we wouldn't of had this incredible fairytale ending, so it was all for the best :)
erm what thd shib
Isn't it so poetic that Last Hope was the fourth-to-last level?
hm never thought about that 🤔
Hmm... Never thought of that... 🤔
Hmmmmm........ never thought of that......😏

The conclusion speech was so cheesy but I couldn't help but smile. I love stories about communities coming together to do the impossible. Very wholesome and great video! 😊
Nearly teared up ngl
omg thats me playing phantom odd world 15:48 absolutely fantastic video
thanks Fiona :)
Why does every video essay person know exactly how to press my buttons with video game music?
Very hype
It’s literally just the Celeste OST lol god tier game if you’ve never played it
@@wilhelmisaac well there's some hollow knight in there
And...... other stuff....
And yes celeste is amazing I have played it
this video in particular has music from the Summoning Salt soundtrack, almost entirely. there’s also one celeste song, one zelda song, and one undertale song. Summoning Salt’s use of music is unmatchable, but i did my best to recreate some of the same emotions :)
@@henryst-1 you did amazing with this video. the ending made me cry even though I knew exactly what would happen
@@wilhelmisaac Yeah no, there's one celeste song in the whole video.
Great video. Ever since that guy who beat Hollow Knight blindfolded i've stopped declaring anything 'impossible' because who knows what someone might come up with.
been thinking about doing a hollow knight challenge on stream with no eyes no audio, chat only. don't have enough viewers yet over there but stay tuned :)
27:40 Hey, that's me! Great video and kudos to the team. secret ending achieved!
I put a like on videos maybe twice a year and this video takes a spot, incredible story told perfectly. Thank you and thank you to all of the 0% community for this absolute spectacle.

Fitting that the final level was a TAS cheat and extra fitting that the determination of the speedrun community was able to overcome the insane odds.
Such a perfect story.
dude, this is such a well done video. the pacing and writing was really solid, and i appreciate you breaking down exactly what made these levels tricky. that ending too, with all the people flashing on screen, and the sync of the music with the door opening, was hype as fuck. great job :>
Great video
Also the celeste music did not go unnoticed
that soundtrack is FIRE all the way through
Celeste’s ost is perfect for documentaries

Yesss, Lena Raine is such an amazing artist. Always love to see her work represented somewhere
Neat, this is pretty much exactly what I pictured when I saw this concept discussed in the discord, and also yeah this does give me an appreciation of how hard a summoningsalt video is to make even just thinking about all the small editing bits needed
Before I had wanted a video talking about all 100 final levels, but it was probably good that that didn't happen; so many NSMBU Speedruns 😂
most of the nsmbu levels are the exact same, i get bored looking at the clones, but there were some cool ones i didn't get to mention. special shoutout to the one that's all about mashing, gotta mash super fast, i think gravityrad was the one to clear it but don't totally remember
I legitimately shed tears at the ending, thanks for making this video, I loved it!
wow thank you so much!
Very good video Henryst, probably the best documentary on team0% so far :)
sanyx you're so kind, it means a lot that you like it. your clear meant so much to me for two reasons. first, i've only been following the community for 4 months, but i've grown so attached. i couldn't shut up about it to all my irl friends and was looking forward to the last day. im sad that its over but following this project has been some of the most fun i've had in my life. second, and more selfishly, i had the entire doc done except for TTH for almost 2 weeks and was just twiddling my thumbs. i had no idea how to end the video if you didn't clear it, literally 0 backup plan. your clear brought the doc from ok to exceptional. i owe you one. let me know if you need anything, anytime :)
@@henryst-1 Thank you so much 🙂
Congratulations team 0% for unlocking the true ending ~The Herbs have been trimmed~
I've been following this project on and off for the last few months now, thank you for making this video. I'm happy you guys managed to do it in time :)
awesome video, honestly the best documentary out there on this. huge congrats to the team :>
thanks, and congrats on the muncher stairs clear again, and also thanks for the research help :)
dude! I saw you on youtube!!
😨
I can't express it well enough. It is such a good video. I followed this community for years and this event was the simple most important for them. All of the levels explanations were on spot and at the final end you brought up that song too. It brought tears to my eyes. Really. I felt at Home...
what a fantastic achievement and fantastic community, with a fantastic video to cover it all!
mario maker is truly one of the most special games of all time, and i hope this video shows why it is so great (and maybe recruits some people for mm2 lol)
thank you for making this, and congratulations to everyone who participated!
here's hoping... for mario maker 3
Great video. Summoning Salt is one of my favorite UA-camrs ever and you making a video in his style about a game i absolutely love is just incredible.
Teared up a little at the end. I was only a spectator but this was a wild ride. Nicely captured in the video.
Cheers!
Awesome video! Great quality and was highly entertained through out. Hope you put out more!
Incredible video, super well made, great music, GOD WHY ARE THE SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE ON UA-cam
great job for detailing such a large and complex challenge btw, it was super fun to watch even with the hindsight of already knowing what happened
Seeing the story of Team 0% and how hard and how much time it took for them to this is so cool! Amazing video, I love Summoning Salt, and this video is just as good as his!
OK, this was very good, thank you for the amazing video, it was kind of moving by the end! Good job to the community, what you did together is incredible!
really good video, hope the algorithm picks this up cause this is insanely well made
this is an incredibly made video. you should be proud of it, and I hope you do more like it. enjoyed it just as much as a salt video
Great work! Very entertaining!
And it was so cool to watch them all trying to beat every remaining level, even tho i‘ve never played smm1 myself
this video is semi effective recruitment material, you got me wanting to do this in smm2 even though i suck at it lmao
we got a lotta work to do
Apparently a lot of the MM1 uncleared levels were relatively easy, but unplayed. Not every member of Team0% needs to be an elite gamer capable of tackling levels like the ones in this video -- they need sheer manpower to take down the vast numbers of easy levels, too.
Even if you’re “bad” at it, you could probably do the dev door ones or smth like that so the pros have more time to work on hard levels
Same. We've got plenty of time, since no shutdown date is looming for SMM2, but when I get free time again I'll probably clean the dust off my Switch, pay Nintendo for another year of network access, and clear the ones I can manage.
MM2 gotta be way harder to 100% though, right? Vastly more people have it compared to MM1, so there'd be orders more levels surely.
The fact you have less than 1k subs honestly surprised me
Super good video dude, the build-up, the suspense, everything was on point
Keep it up and I’m sure you’ll see those subscriptions skyrocket in no time!
You nailed Salt's style perfectly, down to the unexpectedly emotional climax and sendoff. Thanks for putting this together, it was beautiful.
not to mention, the vid as a whole... AMAZING! thanks again! loved it!
Love the summoning salt theme and I gotta say you have the potential to build your own niche from it
Great work!
Insane video man, this deserves more recognition 🔥🔥🔥
I did not hear about this, but this was a master piece.
Also great video, you deserve way more subs!!
I never thought I'd find someone who could make a video like this nearly as well as summoningsalt, but this has proven me wrong!
thank you :)
Watching that final clear gave me chills. Great work :)
Very epic video!!! Gives me chills to watch the herbs being trimmed at the end!!
thanks - that moment will go down in history. check out sanyx’s video on it for sure
awesome vid! thanks for making it!!! been waiting for a vid that covers the last levels in a more comprehensive way! appreach!
I’ll be telling my grandkids the story of Team 0% like an old folktale one day!
What an incredible video documenting a journey like no other! I’m so glad to have been a part of this journey in what small way I was.
Keep grinding, legend.
You got the pace and the dramatic sense so right and not many speedrunning creators do, in my opinion. This was quite a find! I did miss more technical explanations, though, that's the main thing for me. Like break down the tricks for every level (specially since I haven't even played some of those games). But yeah awesome job.
thank you :)
I legit thought this was Summoning Salt until I scrolled down to the comments. Great cinematography!! Congrats Team 0%!!
Summoningsalt is one of my favorite creators and I’m so happy to see that other people are trying his video style. Also the ending gave me goosebumps with that Home song. I hope you’ll create more videos like this ❤
Very well put together video man. Keep it up!
Wow this video was really well produced, it really sucked me in and I didn’t even realize it was half an hour until the end. Great job
that was so hype and a great video. hope it gets more views. subbed
Amazing video :) This was so incredible to watch unfold
Dude that’s amazing. Hopefully it gets promoted or something, there is so much - good - work in this one 🤟
Very well made video!! The editing is super impressive
What perfectly made video! You got me crying by the end :')
Loved this, thank you for making this
Great video! Really well writen and good editing!
How have I never heard of this project before this video? Great story, well paced :)
dude your video is amazing, sure it looks like Summoning Salt video, but since it takes very long time for 1 man to make videos like this, I'm happy there are now multiple persons to do it, and I hope even more will do with this quality !
I didn't known about the story itself, and you learnt me cool things !
Some points like why only focusing only these levels on 100 levels are a bit disappointing for me (maybe you explained and I didn't got it haha), but in general it was very clean !
Continue dude, thanks for the story telling :)
On another note, good video, thanks for doing it. I enjoyed it. :)
that's an amazing way to end the video btw
congrats on t0% for the insane accomplishment and thanks henry for documenting it lul
What a great video summary. I got goosebumps in the end!
Are you sure your not Summoning Salts ghost writer or something?! Ngl I’m impressed. Great pacing, great topic, and you nailed the vibe with the music! Keep it up man I love to see the community grow.
Awesome video, awesome build up, awesome storytelling. Awesome!
This video is a banger, good job making it!
Thank you for this video. I had a strong feeling Salt wasn't going to touch this one, but I'm really glad to see it presented in his style.
I hope someone close to the story does a more in depth history of it someday, though. I know there are aspects that don't fit into narrative style like this. Things like the known TAS levels that people were trying anyway (I'm told there's an 81 mid airs TAS level), and the zero star purge.
I only heard of Team 0% a few weeks ago, but it’s honestly insane! Wasted Summer is one of the silliest levels ever ;)
R.I.P Mario Maker
rip mario maker 🫡 thank god for pretendi
Yo this was super awesome keep up the good work
This video rocked. I love stuff like this. That music at the end gives me goosebumps
Incredible video, i wish i was there for the TTH stream
Im also glad you portrayed the challenge in a much more positive light than Karl Jobst
underrated man right here. very good video, great editing
If this video doesn't earn a sub I don't know what does.
Excellent breakdown of the final stretch for team 0 percent's long journey.
This better blow up because this quality deserves it
i am so proud of 0% completing a goal we all thought would be impossible in 2017. and look where we are now! with sanyx beating TTH a few days ago it amazes me how we can work together as a community. on with SMM2! we did it once we can do it again!
Great video, with nice music choice. As a feat and climax, this reminds me of the amazing accomplishment of Otzdarva in DS
Awesome video. I dont care if you used the format that sunmoning salt uses because each of them are great watches and still require immense time and research, and i think you nailed this one. Take my sub and I hope to see more videos from ya!
29:19 legit Made me cry, great Video you should continue making these!
Insanely good video. Subscribed and looking forward to more (and your blow up) 😊
Man, that video was so good! Now I don’t have to wait three months at a time for a new Summoning Salt vid
This is so good. Fantastic video!
Amazing job researching this. Very interesting watch.
Dude, u nailed the SS style, good vid, good job!
Amazing video and thank you for making this. The curtain call the entire community had made me happy and I'm so happy to have joined everyone in this huge attempt
Small thing as well thats worth noting; the spindrop isnt hard in last hope because its a precise drop but because its actually a spincancel input which is a 1f input. You cant twirl while spinning so changing your state by tricking the game into thinking youre throwing the shell is super important there.
thanks blast :) yeah the spin drop could’ve used more detail
19:58
oh my god the melody coming in on a violin and not a guitar threw me off so hard I couldn't focus on what you were saying for a solid minute
This is such a good video i felt so nostalgic because i was olaying SMM1 for a long time aswell and also beat random uncleared levels for quite some time even tho they were on the easier side and i didnt know about team 0%
But this is an incredible achievement to everybody participating and a great moment in gaming history, Mario Maker 1 has been beaten
The summoning salt ending had me rolling, great video!
29:17 when that chord hits and you know you're about to shed some tears
Heard the music, but then saw the title... all good! And great video! I was very entertained.
I am surprised you don't have more subscribers. Phenomenal video
S tier video, btw. Im so happy for the 0% community!🎉🎉
Very solid video and very interesting!
Proud to have helped this project!
This is definitely a saltlike but im here for it. Good work
