The invincibles achievment is extremely rare across European football (I’m aware Juventus and Celtic have done it in the last 10-15 years) and it’s an incredibly tough thing to do which you have to respect. Oddly enough though, they didn’t score that many goals that season. However they did play some quality football and I’d still pick them over Jose’s functionals who were dull to watch. I’m not an Arsenal fan either
Just because you prefer their style of play (and I do too) does NOT make them a better team...The reality is that Chelsea team only lost ONE game and scored ONE less goal...so for all the flair the invincibles had they still didn't score that much and Chelsea had more points...Chelsea was the better team!
@@aduad it’s a matter of opinions. Arsenal went unbeaten and they were fun to watch. Chelsea lost a game and were boring to watch. I can remember more games from their invincible run than Chelsea a year later because the games had highlights worth remembering. More points doesn’t necessarily mean they were better as both teams weren’t up against the exact same opposition either
@@305Solo I don't remember how many players left the invincibles the year after but they were in the same league with the Chelsea team that won the league so they technically played the exact same opposition...again stating they were more fun to watch is not a metric of who the better team is...that's a personal taste that I also agree with but but if more points doesn't mean you are better than I don't know what metric to use cause "pretty style of play" doesn't mean you are a great team either....I mean Brighton and Leeds play some pretty stuff and are average teams.
@@aduad there’s a reason why the 2008-2011 Barca dynasty is considered the best ever. Beautiful style of play with possession, controlling games. That makes you better than a side that parks the bus and counterattacks.
@@cardamundo295 yeah Rory was laughing the whole time, argued with Robbie then as Robbie is moaning he turns to the presenters and sniggered to himself because Robbie bit hard 😂😂
I won't say the invincibles are overrated (outside of england they definitely are) but come on: Chelsea only lost ONE match because of a penalty and won the league way more convincing than Arsenal did. Yeah ok, the didn't loose a single match but also drew like 12.
the problem of drawing 12 was that we won the league with 4 or 5 games to spare. The draws of the last few weeks were what amounted to 12. Also we were more slightly defensive because we conceded too many goals in the 02-03 previous season.
@T G It’s not a big difference lol, it’s 1 game as you said. It’s the difference of achieving a nice little tag line to put with winning the league though. Chelsea got 5 more points the following season, that’s more of a difference
We're talking about quality, who's better. The Chelsea team was better. Like Rory said the Chelsea team got more points, more goals, less conceded (still a PL record), and won more trophies. The invincibles got knocked out the UCL by Chelsea, they could never do it in the Biggest club competition in the world, the Chelsea players did it. The spine of 04/05 won the UCL in 2012, the invincibles spine couldn't. On the money aspect, never once did we break the world record, we bought smart with a plan in place. Theres nothing wrong with an owner investing heavily in his team, it's completely legal, we've done no cheating unlike Arsenal who got voted into the league after the war, never got into the first division on merit, never earned promotion on the pitch, cheated their way into the league by a vote, this is fact, just do your research or ask spurs fans, they'll tell you all about it. Robbie says Chelsea's trophies are tainted when it's actually Arsenal's trophies that are tainted, not Chelsea's. There are english teams who never been in the first division cause they weren't good enough to earn promotion, that could have been arsenal if they didn't cheat. Arsenal might never have made it to the first division if it weren't for that vote. These are all facts
I hate when people make the argument that a team "bought" a trophy, as if investing in the team is a bad team. Has city been "buying" the title over the years? Arsenal has invested massively into their team recently, if they go on to win the league would they has bought it?
@@aliasaad6393 What's so special about it?? Lol maybe because it contributed to the longest unbeaten run in English footballing history. FACTS. Chelsea are not even close to that record in their best years with all that money spent. Talk about that!
I remember Robbie saying we were bigger, disagreeing with DT, after we won the UCL in Porto... It's as if their strong start this szn has clouded his vision lmao
6:50 And what Arsenal in the long run is the failed title defence in 2003 to Manchester United. Had they won the league in 2003, they would have won 3 straight from 2002-04, matching United's achievement from 1999-2001 and also 2007-09, they would have won back to back doubles of FA Cup and Premier League in 2002 and 2003, which at that point was not done in the PL era. And a 3 peat of two doubles and an unbeaten season would have cemented their legacy as one of the best teams in English football history, not just PL era history.
The invincibles focused on winning at all costs, they even compromised the entertainment factor to some extent just to make sure that the legacy was cemented. People a lot of time remember the Mourinho team because it’s compared to the invincibles, not because it was a good team although admittedly it was incredible.
Winning at all costs? They settled for draws towards the end so that they could stay unbeaten. Compare that to City's Centurions for example, who risked defeat in every game they played by trying to win. Even at Anfield. If the recent City teams cared about invincibility as much as Arsenal did, they would easily have done it. But they would rather push to win every single game and risk a defeat than accept a draw. That's why they finished with 10 more points than Arsenal 03/04. Points don't lie, which is why Chelsea 04/05 were also better
@@itshurtt395 leicester only lost 3 games in their title winning season, winning back to back titles is a better achievement 100 points is a better achievement as you cant afford to draw any games, you would have to win majority of your games
@@itshurtt395 Of course anyone would like to be known as invincibles, but elite teams care more about how many wins they can achieve. My point was that City had the title sewn up in 17/18 and could have parked the bus in their remaining games. But no, they prefer wins to draws. Same goes for Liverpool who had won the title very early in 19/20 but still attacked each game. Arsenal were happy to draw against relegation fodder at home to preserve some meaningless record, meanwhile teams like City and Liverpool strive for 100 points
Rory is spot on, Chelsea's 04/05 side were better than the invincibles. Won more pts, won more games, defensively much more solid, most clean sheets, better GD, also went further in Europe. They were a ghost goal away from a UCL final. They also won the league cup that season.
The invincibles team is the most over rated team in premier league history. They didn't get the most wins. They didn't get the most points. They didn't score the most goals. Big deal they didn't lose a single premier league game. But I'd take winning more matches and trophies over not losing a game..
The Chelsea 04/05 team got 95 points (more than the gooners) and only conceded 15 goals (Best defence in PL history), also won the Carling cup. The 04/05 teams spine of Cech, Terry, Lampard and Drogba won the UCL. The invicibles spine never did that for arsenal, and guess who knocked them out the UCL in 2003/2004, CHELSEA. They were never invincible to us.
The Arsenal invincible side did the double over chelsea in the league and knocked chelsea out of the Fa Cup. Chelsea 04/05 couldn't even beat Arsenal once. The chelsea 04/05 was the most expensively assembled squad in premier league history ( thanks to Roman Abramovich's money)

Chelsea 05 side was very good, but worth remembering that the Arsenal squad was practically dismantled the following season and they still finished 2nd on 83 points. If Arsenal had maintained the invincibles squad and had room to invest the way that Chelsea did, it might have been a very different story. It's hard to say definitively either side was better as a result. But what cannot be argued is that the Invincibles left a greater legacy on both the aesthetics of football and in the unprecedented achievement.
In what world is ONE loss more important that 5 extra points overall and a massive record for least goals conceded. The one loss Chelsea had was also only a 1-0. Of course nobody else has gone "invincible" and it's a massive achievement unique to that Arsenal squad, but it's not as impressive as that Chelsea season realistically, let along Man City breaking 100 points and Liverpool hitting 99.
@T G Oh get off the "excessive spending" high horse every top team has spent money over the years and at the end of the day spending excess money on average players doesn't get you anywhere, it's still about the quality of the scouting and coaching. What people "want" because it's cool is not the same as what is realistically more impressive.
Invincibles are the greatest PL side ever. No one could replicate what they did -- not Ferguson's United or Mourinho's Chelsea or Klopp's Liverpool or Pep's oil City with Federal Reserve backing. The achievement is unique to date. And to top it off the Invincibles played slick technical football that was beautiful to watch.
The fact that Mourinho joined Chelsea in 2004 and won it that season along with the league cup with having 95 points is in my opinion better than some arsenal side who’s had the same manager for years and years and drawing almost half of their games. The funny thing about this is that no one even talks about the invincible’s apart from arsenal fans themselves because it’s the only thing they have.
That Chelsea team would dismantle that stupid ass 90th minute lucky OVERRATED 99 team easily. Bayern blew it in 1 minute and that's the only reason they get talked about. Nothing to do with their brilliance but someone else's mistake.
I like it and I hope it will be repeated among the fans of other clubs, such as: Liverpool - Everton, and also like Newcastle, Sunderland and other derbies.
The reason Arsenal's Invincible season is considered so great is because Arsene Wenger publicly said that his team could go a full season undefeated. So basically Arsenal were chasing a record for the entire season that had not been achieved for 115 years in English Tier 1 football. Whereas teams like Chelsea 04/05 or Liverpool 18/19 were only one loss away from the invincibles title, but that was not a target they were chasing at the beginning of the season. The target they had was to win the EPL, something that is achieved by some club at the end of every season.
for Arsenal, Henry played in 5 finals, losing 3 while scoring 0 goals and assisting 1. Henry will easily go down as one of the greatest ever premier league players, but it is absolutely fair to say he bottled it when it came to big knockout games.
People need to realize finals aren’t the only BIG GAMES a game in a sim finals can also be very important, derby’s, important games in the league were a 3 points are a must what about those games? Also he made it out like he was referring to his whole career which’s ludicrous to me
As a united fan, Chelsea 04/05 is better. The aura around that team was something. It took us Ronaldo, Rooney, Vidic, and Evra to knock them off their perch. We were never scared of the gunners but that Chelsea victory made us wonder if we'd be able to reinvent ourselves again to win it. Obviously we dif and that to in the most glorious of ways.
Odegaard's nowhere near Mount. Had loads of talent at a young age and never showed it consistently until very recently. Mount's done far more since he made his debut than Odegaard has. And Arsenal fans are capitalising on a short goal drought at the start of the season to put him down. Even in games he doesn't score like our last Champions League game he was one of the best players on the pitch.
I love the Chelsea / Arsenal debates 🔥🔥💙♥️ It’s fun and always causes a stir Love The Doooon and huge respect to the gunners and there luxurious history 🙌🏽 But I gotta go with my boy Rory representing the pride of London 💙💙💙💙💙
Conceding just 15 goals in a season is very impressive, but is a stat that does get overrated by some people. We should factor in the defensive style of play from Chelsea that season...had they of conceded 15 whilst playing an attacking style and scoring 85+ then it would be truly incredible.
Only Arsenal scored more than them that season, they scored 14 goals more than Man United who scored the 3rd most, they also won 29 games getting 95 points
@@user-io8cm4dk1f Exactly, Chelsea scored one less goal than the invicibles. People seem to think if your full backs aren't bombing on that you're palying defensive football. We're also at the point where people with poor memories or who weren't even alive at the time are commenting on that era. Chelsea were a solid team, with a good balance between defence and attack. They scored 3 or more in 11 league games and knocked 4 past Bayern and Barcelona. Some people seem to think they played the whole season like Di Matteo's Chelsea against Barcelona.
Arteta / Potter question should be, who will get 2nd place first. That way, eliminating City for the whole question, and pitting the two teams against eachother
As a liverpool fan I also tend to believe that even our 97 point tally without winning the league were a better team then both but you have to admit that invincible season is truly magnificent. It has a beauty to it and even makes me jealous. Its Just an epic title win. Thats why I wanted liverpool to win the quadruple so bad haha
Well Chelsea’s team got more points and it was more or less the same competition since it was only a year later, all Arsenal have over Chelsea is that Chelsea lost one game 1-0, that Chelsea team was much better and also knocked that Arsenal team out the Champions League the year before

I maintain the 04/05 Chelsea squad is better than the Invincibles were. Same amount of goals scored, more wins, more points, less goals conceded. The only thing seperating the two in the eyes of the casual fan is one Anelka penalty. Not to mention that the "Invincibles" weren't even unbeaten at home as Chelsea beat them at Highbury in the champions league
@@mrmaestro1896 there may be a bit of luck in a final but getting there is absolutely not luck getting to the final of the champions league first involves you doing very well in your league the season before then beating the majority of teams in your group then beating every team till you get to the final that isn’t luck.
I am an arsenal fan but i would agree with rory the 04/05 chelsea team was better than the invincbles. THere was a reason the invincibles finished second in 04 05
Depends on how you define 'best.' Wenger's team never had the same winning mentality as Chelsea but there is a reason Arsenal have a worldwide fanbase and Chelsea don't.
There’s very little between the two teams; they were both exceptional. But wins and points is more impressive then fewer defeats. You could use that to make a case for Man City’s 2 seasons from 2017-2019 and Liverpool 2018-2020. Many teams played way better football on the eye than Arsenal 03/04 as well.
Yeah, Rory is correct when he says the Arsenal Double team was better than the Invincibles. Better to watch, a team could go 38 games unbeaten with 38 points. It is not a measurement above others because of that, Chelsea 04-05 was ridiculous. There has never been a team so structured, you might as well have built a brick wall between the posts.
Rangers done it 2 seasons ago.

I won't say the invincibles are overrated (outside of england they definitely are) but come on: Chelsea only lost ONE match because of a penalty and won the league way more convincing than Arsenal did. Yeah ok, the didn't loose a single match but also drew like 12.
The only difference was anelka scored his pen and van nistelroy hit the bar with his
the problem of drawing 12 was that we won the league with 4 or 5 games to spare.

6:50 And what Arsenal in the long run is the failed title defence in 2003 to Manchester United. Had they won the league in 2003, they would have won 3 straight from 2002-04, matching United's achievement from 1999-2001 and also 2007-09, they would have won back to back doubles of FA Cup and Premier League in 2002 and 2003, which at that point was not done in the PL era. And a 3 peat of two doubles and an unbeaten season would have cemented their legacy as one of the best teams in English football history, not just PL era history.
The Prophet Don Robbie 4:17
Rob was right all along 4:24

Same goes for Liverpool who had won the title very early in 19/20 but still attacked each game. Arsenal were happy to draw against relegation fodder at home to preserve some meaningless record, meanwhile teams like City and Liverpool strive for 100 points

Chelsea 05 team was way better
It’s only arsenal fans who bang on about the invincibles
Not though is it?
