People get confused because Gerrard did more for the Liverpool team but players in the United team did less because they played their role for the team. Scholes started out as a 10 and progressively moved deeper because that’s what the team needed and it kept them at the top for 2 decades, Gerrard always tried to do it all and it limited Liverpool.
He never limited Liverpool, Liverpool limited him, he filled in at right back in a champions league final and dragged them to win it at 24 against one of the best teams ever in that Milan side, he was playing David Ngog and Jimmy traore and so, if Gerrard was in klopps team the last few years he would of much more, still won everything except the league
Tbh ManU had quality everywhere. Even the youths were better back then. I remember that we only have one threatening winger until Mane + Salah 😂 The point being.. Liverpool were not as successful as ManU.
Agree mate, and in agreement with you, this should have been 10 liverpool players, and scholes. because, as you said, Gerrard was bad and held Liverpool back, Scholes actually dragged United up.
I’ve got take on Gerrard: We never saw Gerrard under a world class manager and therefore we never saw Gerard reach his peak or fulfil his potential. When players, particularly midfielders, play under world class managers, they get utilised far more effectively.
But doesnt that add to the beauty of how good Gerrard was? He still shone in mostly below par teams with average managers and could take games by the scruff of the neck and literally pull his team to victory! Of course to see him in great teams with great managers would've been mouth watering but that's not always how it goes unfortunately. We just have to appreciate how good he was with what he had to work with and that speaks volumes for the type of player and character he was
I love and have been watching the combined 11 debate but this is the first time i actually noticed how stacked the combined team was. Nice discussion between those 2 and the final combined 11 can knockout any other combined team.
mane was actually a better player than salah when it came to everything but finishing, when it came to bringing other players into it, dribbling, positioning he was better. His finishing was frustrating at times and it’s the reason salah is rated higher cus he finishes a lot more shots but it’s similar to diaz now at liverpool performing better than salah when it comes to everything but finishing
Then you’re really underrating salah, mane never scored any of the wild dribble goals that salah has, he hasn’t made those same assists as salah. There’s a reason why mane was moved on first. Maybe mane was as a bit more fun to watch, but saying he outperformed salah in everything but finishing is ridiculous
Your outrageous. Salah is hands down the most consistent player of all time. This man averages 30 G/A EVERY SEASON. If you compare Mane’s consistency and stats to Salah, you can see that Salah is CLEAR.
@@Totsrocky the reason lane was moved on first is cus his numbers weren’t as good and we just had 6 months of diaz being amazing on the left. Yes salah has had some incredible dribbling moments but in the average game mane would beat his mane more, the difference is salah would finish the goal after the run so it’s easier to remember it. Salah's Liverpool legacy STINKS of revisionism, everytime someone says "Salah is better than (insert premier league legend's name here)" it is done through "looking back in hindsight, Salah's best season was his debut season for Liverpool (2017/18) and AT THE TIME it would be ludicrous to say he was better than Hénry Hazard Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and he was on par with Riyadh Mahrez he is only in those convos because of stats, that is it Aguero has a better goals per game ratio than Salah but apparently it's criminal to even compare him to Alan Shearer...
The Liverpool fan is dreaming. He keeps using the same argument for each portion "modern day football" - by and large the Liverpool players just haven't achieved enough to be considered alongside their United counterparts. Pretty solid 11. I would have thought Allison for goalkeeper and either Irwin or Roberston makes more sense at LB. + Suarez just misses out but damn close
The Mane argument is so true, African players don't get the respect they deserve unless their skin is lighter (like Salah who deserves his place)... I hate Man City but you never hear Toure in these arguments, and although he doesn't make the list I think he deserves to be mentioned when City are involved, the way he used to bulldoze through the middle used to make my jaw drop, was like watching a Grand National horse fly down the pitch.
Only thing I don't agree with is Evra over Robertson. Robbo epitomizes what a modern fullback is with an insane work rate, stamina over the roof, offers so much going forward and tracks back when needed. How people hype up Kyle Walker is how Robbo is at LB.
Ryan Giggs at left wing, Ronaldo at right wing and Rooney in the middle, for me Gary Neville at Right Back, and Irwin and Evra is a close call for me at left back, also Vidic big shout.
I’ve never seen such a good discussion both had respect and they let each other speak and they made up the best list apart from Andy Robertson and they really had respect for everyone
If it really was an all time eleven you’d struggle to get even three Utd legends in. Clemence in goal…… Phil neal, Alan hanson, Bobby Charlton and Alan Kennedy in the defence. A midfield of souness, Callahan with salah and barnes on the wings. Kenny daglish and George best up front.
Sir Alex said that the only player guaranteed to make his all time Man United XI was Denis Irwin. The fact he doesn't even get a mention is a travesty.
there isn't a single left winger that compares to how mane would play. his decision making on attacks was so precise and direct. he could score with both feet and his head. his work rate was immaculate and his pressing of players was so fast that he could initiate a counter attack from nothing. there were so many goals Liverpool would get where the opposition had the possession and then suddenly the ball was in the back of their net. no one can compare. Ronaldo was a player that could score goals and make assists but if you had him on your team he wouldn't go above and beyond to score a goal by himself and would rely on the players around him to initiate attacks. mane in terms of prem doesn't need to in the conversation, he is the conversation.

I remember that we only have one threatening winger until Mane + Salah 😂
The point being.. Liverpool were not as successful as ManU.
Scholes was a product of the united system. Gerrard was the system
Sounds like what Bruno has to do today with all the trash around him

I’ve got take on Gerrard:
We never saw Gerrard under a world class manager and therefore we never saw Gerard reach his peak or fulfil his potential.

@@Totsrocky as far as work rate, going back to help defensively and pressing Mane was better

@@Totsrocky the reason lane was moved on first is cus his numbers weren’t as good and we just had 6 months of diaz being amazing on the left. Later in his career salah has become a great playmaker but early on he wasn’t, his assists came from simply squaring it not from crazy outside the foot passes
