Thank you for taking the time to make and post this video. I am looking right now for a Rav4 hybrid, and your video has convinced me that I don't want a moonroof. Too much to worry about.
While I’ve never had problems with sunroofs-- I realize there are many variables which can hasten problems such as amount of use, climate and if it’s parked outside. I have maintained them too.
My rav 4, 2005, getting wet drivers. Side rug. I checked moonroof front drains, thanks to this video, next will pour some water channel to back. I like your little teapot there :)
I love the sunroofs I use the SUNROOF for photographing Wildlife particularly birds and trees so that's the people like me using for . But thank you for showing us how to clean out the channels in the SUNROOF .
FYI - this is a definition explanation for you, even though this was a comment from 2 years ago. A sunroof is a closed hatch that does NOT allow light in when closed. A moonroof ALWAYS allows the light through, even if in this case on the RAV4, there is a sliding panel to block light - it isnt part of the opening. So in essence, a sunroof is a completely closed hatch made of metal. A MOONroof is made of GLASS and always allows light through. This video shows a moonroof, NOT a sunroof.
Your one experience doesn't count for countless others experiences. Admire your luck in these situations as I assume you've been lucky in many other areas for this matter. Not all chefs cook chicken the same, as with cars are not all made the same:)
Preventative maintenance! At least twice a year open (spring/fall), clean and lubricate the seal (silicone or Armour All). Rubber seals dry out when ignored. I've done this on many vehicles over the years and have never had one leak. Clean the water trays at the same time. My RAV Trail (Canada)(US Adventure) has never leaked and the seals are in perfect condition with this bit of TLC.
Great video. My Rav4 is leaking into the passenger side onto the floor. Any ideas on how to "clean out" the drain? Or is this a dealer only type of project? Will definitely be performing the other suggestions ASAP. Thanks.
I have never understood why anyone would want a sunroof or worse a panoramic sunroof. Want a convertible, then get one! Unfortunately, my 2024 limited has the pano and being bald I have absolutely no daytime use for this. Maybe I'll try it at night sometime.
What is happening when the water pours inside the car in both those corners. Somehow gets the floor on the drivers side soaken wet. I tried putting something to catch the water and it did not work and the floor still soaken wet
Do i have to have that fancy tea pot to do the test properly? Is that a Toyota tool part number? Big laugh aside, good info and good test. I bet no one checks that drain until it is too late. I am looking at either a new Mazda or Rav 4 but like you, i do not want that dang moon roof.

In 50+ years of owning a car I’ve never had a moonroof problem nor have I performed any maintenance. I’ve had many moonroofs.

Some people just want others to know how much better they think they are at irrelevant things.
@@TruthIsLikePoetrylol I guess you can’t say anything anymore 😂. I bet he is telling the truth too
Ok then why leave irrelevant comments? Keep scrolling.
Just because you never had an issue with a sunroof, doesn't mean I don't need help with mine

Dude my 2022 Prime XSE has the pano moon roof. I'm literally about to silicone the damn thing after this!
Great video. I never thought of ever checking this. Thanks
I always flush warm water through the front holes at least once a month to make sure my drains are clear

Would be nice to know what to do if it's clogged
A good protectant like 303 would keep the rubber from breaking down before it time.
much obliged will cancel my order for the 2025 rav 4 xle, I think the less gimmicks the better
Very useful. Thank you!
TYVM I hate my moon roof also!
Would of been helpful to actually show the drainholes at the bottom.
Great video. Very helpful info.

Are there any magnets in between the moonroof and interior ceiling?
Great video. Thank you.
Did you have any issues with your roof racks? I see theyre off and im curious as ive seen videos with them leaking too.
How do I fix my moonrise off track

This is different to the UK version, don't you have full pan roof there?
That is an available upgrade on select trims.
Why are your roof rails off? Are you having the leaks in your Apillars ? Going into your headliner? A problem Toyota knows about.
thank you
Juat get a tank
Fix mi car
