Thanks for this great video, ...just to add that at least here in Tampa FL, if you buy Toyota coolant online through the dealer, it is cheaper (2 Gallons = $42.00) but it can take up to a week to arrive and if you buy it directly from the dealer it can be more expensive (2 Gallons = $59.00).

Fantastic video! I have a 2020 Camry (bought new) with the same engine. The car has just under 21,000 miles but in Feb. I will have owned the car for 5 years. Your procedure exactly matches that from Car Care Nut. I wanted to see another video to make sure the procedure matches. I had some doubts regarding "turning off the AC, heater, and fan, everything." I come from the "old school" where you turn the heater on. I'm going to check the cost to use Toyota coolant and will compare the cost of Peak that you used. Thanks for the video.

@@DillyDogSays I haven’t had any issues since I did this. The vehicle warms up properly does not overheat. Everything works fine even in this cold -2° weather everything works fine.

@@ricoflorez7129 its easy as long as you don’t do same mistake like I did. Make sure to attach small hose to the side of the drain and drain the fluid. Also when you fill the coolant NO ac or Heat on, keep RPM above 1500-2000

Why keep the A/C off ? The engine will heat up faster with it on: Much less than 30 minutes - as long as the ambient temperature is warm enough.
The Peak brand coolant: Designed to be a red color rather than the typical green ? The real question: Is the formula any different than the typical ?

@@michaelt2961 it’s important only on this type of engine because it’s a computer regulator water pump
This procedure of Keeping the RPMs above 1500 with the heat / cooling Off will put the cars computer in a coolant purge mode and open all the valves for circulation
@@nazarettos6987 Your reasoning makes no sense ! The water pump is turned on 100% of the time when the engine is running ! The computer simply applies power to the entire vehicle when the engine is started. "Having no knowledge is a bad thing. Having a little knowledge is down-right dangerous."
@ well do it how you want than, but Toyota master mechanics like CareNut also does it like that.
Is this going to be the same with the Tundra? Is the AC/heat off when starting the engine?
How would you correctly bleed the air out of the coolant if you did not discconect the egr valve and let the fan turn on and off 2 times but did it like your old toyota venza ways 😅?
When you start seeing coolant coming out out of that disconnected house from the EGR valve, that’s how you get the air out

@@vinarch75 there is a way, but you need a scan gauge tool that can activate that service mode so this is the easiest way to do it like I show you in the video

Yes ! This is also how you can permanently disable that absolutely god-awful Auto-Stop-Start feature foisted on owners by Toyota and various other car manufacturers to artificially raise the "estimated MPG" number: Simply disconnect the cable harness very near the hood latch mechanism. This is actually how mechanics (temporarily) do it for servicing purposes. There are many videos if you search for it. There is no GOOD reason to ever reconnect that harness ! NO EXTRA, EXPENSIVE CABLE needs to be inserted into the existing harness behind the dashboard fan/temperature control panel. You can easily find videos for for this, too.

Does your rav have a gurgling noise through ac vent in the cabin when ac is on ?! Especially on low setting. When I turn off ac the sound stops. I was told there’s no leaks and coolant level is normal?! It’s just really an annoying sound? Any tips to resolve this issue?!

@@hectorpenamedina4817 buy 2 but you will not need two, about 1.5 bottles. After 15k do it again drain and fill. Most important thing to have heat off and ac off and keep 2000rpm
"Without engine oil cooler: 7.3 qt." But, some always remains after "completely" draining it. Best to buy 1 undiluted gallon and mix a gallon of DISTILLED WATER, ONLY, to make 2 gallons. The rest can be saved to occasionally top off the radiator and reservoir.
How many bottles of coolant did you need to replace all of it in the car ? Is it true that you should replace coolant every 30k ? So if you have a scanning tool it makes it easier to replace coolant ?
I do not have special scan tool,but you dont need it. If you drain and fill like I did it in my video. Make sure to disconnect EGR valve hose and get rid of air from the system as well make sure to keep RPM 2000. regarding coolant, 1.3 bottles. and yes it is true about 30,000 miles
@@nazarettos6987 you mentioned that you can attach a hose to drain the cooland from the bottom do you have a size that will fit on rav4?

I have a Rav4 Hybrid. You never drained the INVERTER COOLANT via the drain plug on the transmission. You only drained from the radiator. WHY??????

Honestly I'm not sure why you went to such trouble filling it this way. There's a coolant reservoir there precisely to provide more coolant when the system needs it. Why not fill it up initially and then top up?

NO ! This is NOT how to refill drained coolant ! The engine will quickly overheat and destroy itself ! All car's coolant reservoirs are designed to add back ONLY a small portion of coolant ONLY when the engine cools back down. Some coolant may be forced out past the radiator cap when a cold engine heats up and naturally expands in volume. THE COOLANT MUST ALREADY BE TOPPED OFF for this to happen ! ----------
Radiator caps can open in either direction when under pressure OR vacuum (vacuum when hot coolant cools down). Otherwise, coolant would be permanently lost in a full system when it expanded the very first time it got hot. Besides, FAR too much coolant needs to be replaced. Without engine oil cooler: 7.3 qt. capacity. That's almost 2 gallons ! -----------
BTW, coolant is sold pre-mixed to get lazy people to pay more to get less product ! It's much cheaper to get undiluted antifreeze and mix it yourself !

I hope you answer a question I have with my 2020 Camry 2.5 Dynamic Force engine. The engine has just under 21,000 miles. I bought the Phoenix Systems 8006-B Double Ended Coolant + Brake Fluid Test Strips. Both the coolant and brake fluid tested to be in excellent condition according to the strips. Do you recommend changing both fluids since the car will be 5 years old in February? Have you tried these strips? They are highly rated.
@@sunking2001 i never tried these strips on the brake fluid or coolant. If the car has such low mileage i would not bother changing coolant also if break fluid looks clear and you don’t have soft brake pedal, than leave it.
@@nazarettos6987 Thanks for responding. I have heard both fluids will need to be changed because of the passage of time. Apparently, the brake fluid could absorb moisture, and the coolant can degrade on its own. I think I'll keep an eye out with these strips instead of spending money unnecessarily.
Checking the brake fluid with a test strip is useless if it is done at the fluid reservoir. Used fluid NEVER reenters the reservoir. The test sample MUST come from a brake caliper. A bleeder valve can be opened to get a drop of fluid to check. Too difficult to do ? Then get a reliable mechanic to check it ! Also, the Owner's Manual usually has fluids' (brake, coolant, engine and rear differential oils) replacement guidelines. RTFM !

my only concern is that you did not drain all of the old coolant out of the engine block itself , being on ramps you only got what was in the radiator . most engines have a plug that can be removed on the side of the engine block to fully drain the coolant. total capacity is 7.3quarts . how much coolant did you use in this video ?

Youre not suppose to remove the EGR. You are also suppose to turn on the heat to make it heat faster.
@@erich9779 you are wrong. This is different engine with electronic water pump which is controlled by a computer. Yes on older engines you have to turn up heater but NOT on this engine.
Should have used service mode 2 for bleeding air and holding rpm at 2500 without a snow brush lol

Just usenoriginal toyita coolant. Better for the seals and bearing of water pump and thermostat. About same price also u kess u kive far from toyota dealership
Nice work but the question is how to flush it !! I didn’t find any flushing parts for electrical pumps
@@miq5000 don’t need to flush it. Just change again in next oil change. Also, it’s very important to disconnect that hose and get the air out of the system just like I did at the beginning of the video.
It very much looked light you barely tightened the coolant drain petcock. That would be a HUGE mistake !
Do we need to flush the system at all with distilled water or would this kind of coolant change be sufficient for maintenance and long term care?
@@J_bui just do what I did and thats it, and second time do it after few hundred mikes or 1000miles.

@@J_bui some coolant still remains in the system, when you do it second time next oil change you will flush it completely. Very important when you do it make sure rpm stay close yo 2000 and heater off, ac off.
