Your fondant work is so crisp and clean! You must have the patience of a saint because I cannot do the fiddly little bits of cutting that you make look so easy. You’re the best Karolyn!
This cake is so adorable! Thank you for this tutorial and all of your tutorials. Thank goodness you have a heart for helping others or I would have never learned as much as I have. You’re the best!❤
I ENJOYED watching this video as all the other ones, you are my self proclaimed unofficial mentor. I tell everyone that. I wish I had more time in the day to just cake cake cake! One day I will. I'm learning so much from you. Thank you TONS!
I definitely don't charge enough. However, I feel like it's easier for someone that is known , to charge more. Cuz people expect to pay higher because you do awesome work. I only started 1.5 years ago so I feel like people never want to pay alot. Since I'm not known. It's annoying lol. Like it's harder to charge more when you're pretty new and unknown in the game... even tho I think my cakes are pretty decent. @cake_creations_by_tori 😂 lol. Just my thoughts
Anytime I'm anxious or depressed I just watch your tutorials and you brighten my day. I love all the makeup 💄 details You make things look so realistic. I actually guessed $180 for the cake so I'm getting better. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking. Do you do a lot of holiday cakes?💜
Thank you for adding the information about the mat, I just ordered the one you had listed and sure would have had it suck on the cake 🤣 Also with the line roller you have, I ordered the strip cutter in the number 3 you have listed and also the number one, you can use the number one to press in the fondant to make lines they are not as close as the roller but it will work.👍
I only make my own marshmallow fondant, I find that store bought fondant is too soft! I always add a little Tylose powder to the batch to help it stretch when I'm covering cakes with it. I add even more Tylose powder to it to help stiffen it up for cutting decorations. Here's a video showing how I make it: ua-cam.com/video/iTAzMgpJc9M/v-deo.html
OMG yes it is!! THANK YOU! I've been trying to figure that out for years. I appreciate you! Here's the link: www.thebakerskitchen.net/PME-Ribbed-Smocking-Pin.aspx
I love the ribbons all the time, iits almost like the cake came out of a gift box/bag aand those were the ribbons inside the gift box/bag❤❤ love it!!! 3 questions 😁. Maybe you've done this before,or not. But im curious.: #1 Would it no be easier to PRINT on edible paper, the names, numbers,(well the toppers like the 16, the nameand the SWEET) THAN GLUE IT ON FONDANT. TO ONLY DO One cut? Ive done what you did here and yes itis more work, but ive also done what im saying and it so much easier to do on edible paper. Or do you have preference of when you do either or technique, if you already do it? #2. You said client asked for a x-amount,but you made a slit bigger to be able to fit de decor. So do you charge for the servings the client requested,or for what you made it? #3 you hhave a unique style to all your cakes, do clients send you a picture and you make it how the picture they sent, or youuuse the picture as a guide only and let them know youd create something similar, your style? But not just as the picture. If so, wouldn't these suggestions change the budget they may have on the cake? TIA FRO YOUR RESPONSE, WHEN YOU DO😁😁😁😁ALWAYS LLOVE ALLLLL YOUR. TEACHINGS. AND YOU MAY HAVE HAD ALREADY SHOWN US ALL WHAT IVE ASKED AND HAVE MISSED IT,AND NOT BE ALL CAUGHT UP ON THE VIDEOS😁😁
1. I made a video explaining reasons why to use edible images or make fondant decorations, here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/YJ9gRXcOOMI/v-deo.html 2. If I make the cake bigger or add more decor, it's my decision. So I never charge extra for that. I believe you reap what you sow. I frequently like to do a little more for people, it makes me feel good! 3. I rarely copy another cake exactly. I always let people know that I can draw inspiration from a picture, but it will have my flair added to it. I ask what it is about the cakes they send that they like and want on theirs and like to come up with something unique for them! When quoting a cake, I try to give 2 to 3 different options (less detailed, more detailed) and let them choose which one they want. I hope that helps!
@KarolynsKakes thank you much! I once binged most of your videos even old ones. 😄. And the link you have provided is definitely one I haven't gotten to yet. And will check out right away. Thanx much!🤗

I think we all have our "thing". I don't mind cutting the fondant. But making flowers drives me crazy! So I totally get it when you say that!
The face down trick with getting the background on the lettering is brilliant.

LOVE IT!
I love your work
Thank you love!
❤❤ beautiful
Amazing
Beautiful! I love watching your videos. Are the fondant pieces edible?
Yes they are! They are marshmallow fondant, which is marshmallows, powdered sugar, corn syrup and a little water.
Thank you for adding the information about the mat, I just ordered the one you had listed and sure would have had it suck on the cake 🤣 Also with the line roller you have, I ordered the strip cutter in the number 3 you have listed and also the number one, you can use the number one to press in the fondant to make lines they are not as close as the roller but it will work.👍
That's a great tip, the strip cutter would probably work better!
Someone commented and told me what that roller was, here it is! www.thebakerskitchen.net/PME-Ribbed-Smocking-Pin.aspx
@@KarolynsKakes awesome 👏. Thank you so much!! Now you know I have to get it 😂😂
What fondant brand do you use ? Your fondant never looks sticky / stretchy.
I only make my own marshmallow fondant, I find that store bought fondant is too soft!

I think your ribbed rolling pin is PME
OMG yes it is!! THANK YOU! I've been trying to figure that out for years. I appreciate you! Here's the link: www.thebakerskitchen.net/PME-Ribbed-Smocking-Pin.aspx
Can you do a short clip on how you asslemby the ribbon cutter
Yes please, demonstrate the ribbon cutter in slow motion.
I'll make sure to explain it in detail the next time I use it!
How long did this cake take you to create?
About 5 hours total
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love the ribbons all the time, iits almost like the cake came out of a gift box/bag aand those were the ribbons inside the gift box/bag❤❤ love it!!!
