Dude I feel your pain. I've had my corvette like 2 months now. I can't seem to stop tinkering with it. Some jobs that take 2 hours took 2 days. I like you stay postive. Best way to be. Its all a learning experience. Keep up the good work.
Everytime I try to fix something on my truck I end up replacing like 10 parts and rounding off 40 bolts and waste 10 days LMAO Gotta love NH salty roads!
I have an 01 with 102k mine turned by hand in the front super easily. Also ur endlinks are shot get the c6 links and while ur there do poly sway bar bushings. My car drives amazing now no creaks at all. The sway bar bushings were warped and brittle. Well worth the cheap price. Got it all on Amazon. Good luck with those bolts and keep the awesome content coming.
Been there done that. I ended up removing the spring and carefully drilling out the old bolts. Not a hard job, but you will need an an alignment after. It's a miracle you didn't ruin the spring when you used heat. It's made of fiberglass.
I had the same exact problem, so I decided to get a Z06 leaf spring and it was also not budging, the best thing to do is take the leaf spring out- put a plumbers wrench on the base of the bolt and spin it right out( or in).
Same exact thing happened to me on my C6. I ended up removing the leaf spring and putting in a vice then using vice grips I was able to remove them. Of course had to replace. Was much more than I signed up for. I feel for you!!
I learned a long time ago that I can turn a ten dollar problem into a hundred dollar problem with very little effort...they call them professionals for a reason...
I am going through the exact situation with my '04 Z06 CE except I wish to raise it a bit. The entire dialog is on corvette forum under "Raising the C5". Here is part of it: Well, I was able to break the bolts free and here is how I went about it. `I removed the leaf spring- it is a relatively easy job. There are two videos on UA-cam that address this. One is by "Froggy" and the other is "Scruf's Garage". The control arms on one side (I picked the driver's side) have to be removed. Froggy removed the ball joint whereas Scruf removed the control arm to chassis bolts. I chose the latter method although I removed both the upper and lower control arms and pulled the entire assembly out. This made removing the leaf spring a snap. Make sure you mark the position of the cam washers on the lower control arm. When I had the spring on the bench, I carefully wire brushed as much of the rust on both sides of the bolts as I could reach and hit them with penetrating oil. Where the bolts contact the spring, there is a rubber pad backed by a thick washer. The washer is part of the bolt and I put a fairly large pipe wrench on it and it broke free. I carefully worked the bolt back and forth wire brushing the threads and applying anti-seize until I was able to remove it without damaging the female threads. I am going to replace the bolts- the rubber pad is in poor condition.
Did u notice the passenger side is slightly higher in the front from the factory. Mine was I assumed it was to make up the difference for the slope in the roads.
I feel your pain. That's why I have friends who can do auto repair professionally. I'm the guy that will lose a headlamp screw and never find it. They might be where all those one socks go from the dryer. Good luck.
Might have to remove the spring from the car. That way its fully unsprung and then grip the adjustment ends in a vise. And use the spring itself as a breaker bar lol
Aye man happens to the best of us haha , i recently did some work and due to seized bolts I have to play the waiting game now haha as I wait on replacement parts
The problem with lowering the rear of these C5s mine is lowered and level but at high speeds the front gets too much air and tries to lift off the ground at 187 my front came off the ground had to brake hard to get it back down before lowering rear set a little higher nose down never had a problem so be careful if you level it
And the longer you let PB. Blaster sit it will eat the rust more, should of let in soak for a few hrs then tried again, if no go,then literally spray it 1-2 times a day for 3-5 days, and that shit would of come loose, living in Illinois rust is on everything, just a little tip, live and learn
Just did the same thing on my 2018 z06, it took 15 minutes 😝😂, it only has 4000 miles on it , nothing rusty and didn’t even have to take the tires off or remove anything, just preload the springs, it looks much better now
Coming from someone who has two Corvettes used for autocross and track days, DONT lower your car by yourself! All you are doing is messing up the suspension/arm geometry and corner balance which makes the car handle like absolute shit! Take it to a professional shop and have them lower the car while corner balancing please, it needs to be corner balanced while lowering
What about putting two nuts on the bolt, then turning the bottom nut counterclockwise. The bottom nut jams against the top nut and *might* break the bolt loose. Just my 2 cents
I have 98 c5 that I recently purchased. None of the key fabs work. I replaced the batteries as well and even bout a new on still nothing. I followed the instructions on a u tube video and still nothing. Does anyone out there know what to do to fix this problem? Is there a fuse somewhere I don’t know so I’m reaching out for some help. Thanks
If your not a mechanic or don’t know what your doing don’t do it. It’s not because you watched 10 video on UA-cam that you’re now a pro mechanic lol. Use Silicone. Heat will not work it’s composite /plastic and pb blaster is oil and solvent will make the plastic melt. Good job 👏
Great try. But think of all the money you've saved to this point doing most of your own work and maintenance, so spending some is not as hurtful. Every now and then it happens. Hopefully in the end you'll like the result.
How come the Car Lift is after every Cut in an different Position? First it is on the right Car Side. Next Cut it is in the Front of the Car. Next Cut it is in a different Place with a Piece of Wood. WTF? My 2000 is lowered with Z51 Susspension. And it is so deep, that the deepest Car Lift on the Market goes minnimal under the Car. If the Car would be 5mm deeper, the Car Lift would not work.
It’s a Vette. Why bother lowering it? Just makes it even more of a pain in the ass to work on. You just wasted a lot of time and now some money for no good reason.
Gotta love it when a project takes 10x longer than it was supposed to. Props to you for doing the work yourself
I HATE it 😩 appreciate the comment & thanks for watching!

Love the humor in this video Jake 🤣
When a project goes south sometimes you just gotta laugh it off 🤷🏽♂️

I gotta' say I admire your patience. I tend to go caveman and destroy things when things go sideways...
Wow, another Corvette owner who drove his Corvette in the winter. In New England. I never thought I'd see another one.

I feel your pain dude , I had to used grinder to cut off the swaybar links off my truck . After the bolts stripped. Keep the videos coming.

same. exact. issue with my little lowering project. I'm just gonna buy a whole new Mono Leaf Spring for the front and throw out the old one
I learned a long time ago that I can turn a ten dollar problem into a hundred dollar problem with very little effort...they call them professionals for a reason...
cheaper to buy a new spring w/bolts than it will be to have a shop mess with it

Nice👍🏻😊ilove car C5 the bist of corvette is betifull
Glad to know I'm not the only one with terrible luck sometimes :) Like your content and humor too.
Always start in the front before going to the rear end!!! So many life lessons in a simple sentence
Took me 15 minutes and I end up running everything. Lucked out. But you’re hilarious
oh that sucks man. had to vice grip just one of mine of course the very last one but was lucky enough to get it loose.
You lucky lucky man 😩 I was hoping the vice grips would grab it, but they just wouldn’t do it ☹️
Damn you New England winters!!!!!

This is me every time bro, your not alone. 😂 Always something goes wrong or the parts I need come all the way from mars now apparantly.
Had the same thing with mine. I wound up getting another spring and throwing the original one away.
My local Napa sells Kano Aero Kroil penetrating oil. It works better then all the other sprays that I have tried.
Wait you’re wearing a Naples Motorsport shirt... where are you from? I’m in Fort Myers!
Nevermind you’re from NH...
Might have to remove the spring from the car. That way its fully unsprung and then grip the adjustment ends in a vise. And use the spring itself as a breaker bar lol
Sway bar end links next....... get the metal ones,, will ride like on rails

You still have the dreaded plastic swaybar links!
I live in NH as well has anyone given you a hard time about the front plate?
Were you able to get the lowering mod done ?
What splitter is that?

done the same thing buddy i let PB blaster sit for 2 days I got to the slight strip point and put my wheel back on and said screw that

Looks like you’ve got some bushings that need to be replaced there as well!
Naples Motor Sports, Im in Naples, Thanks for the info.
3:05 hmmm I didn’t know the c5 suspension smoked pot
Eibach makes lowering bolts
Any update?
Hate to see that! But definitely how life goes sometimes haha! Every "easy" job takes 3 days instead of 3 hrs haha
I see a leaf spring delete and coil overs in your future 🔮
Do you have an avenue for us to email you questions?

stock wont lower enough i went after market longer bolt
Just slip on big nut and weld it. That is what I did and it worked
You really need some new rotors and to paint the calipers, red is great on a silver vette.
Used a torch and heated red hot then I got it
That means you need coilovers now.
car would look great lowered oh well we will wait for your update
It will be lowered soon enough! 💪
lol. i thought it was going to be easy as well. Long story short, the entire thread insert ended up out with the bolt..

UA-cam: corvette c5 frozen lifting bolts fix
Hey! Can you do mine?
Why would you drive a C5 Corvette on the winter? Lol
why wouldn’t you
Should have just cut it off. Plenty of guys running with no bolts in the front or rear.
So maybe try and take them " off" first? Then ?? Or just cut them, being the nuts ,and r
Place?
Coil-overs....

because it looks better
