Great review. Just like you mentionned, sports cars can't be judged by their stats and numbers. It's all about the driving experience.
I went from a ‘21 STi, to a ‘22 WRX, now into a F22 m240i and I have to say, BMW just flat out knows how to build a drivers car. If I had the funds I would’ve gone with a M2C, but even BMW’s “discount” M car is fantastic.
Hoping to get a M2C within the next few years!
I have the M235i F22 and my dream car is also the M2 OG with the analog gauges and Xenon headlights which give the car a better look at the front.
Always enjoy your reviews from a true drivers perspective. Wife currently has a 6spd e92 M3 and I’ve been looking at getting an M2C.
Your reviews are much more helpful than the majority out there.
I appreciate it! Trying a different approach and just talk about what I’m feeling and what most people want to hear in a review. Just bring me. Glad to help!
Thoughts on leather steering wheels and driving in general. When I bought my 2018 STI, my uncle gave me a pair of leather driving gloves. He said: "These won't help you drive any better, but they will keep your interior clean." - I'm astounded at how well they work. My car has no fingerprints on any control surface. The leather glove grips the leather wheel quite well.
yes I have some and they definitely feel good on the steering wheel as well
Thanks for this beautiful review. Would you recommend the manual? Is it THE way to go? Or would you recommend the dct? I think maybe it sounds better with the dct, espeacially when you push it and take your foot from the throttle. Which one would be your only way to go?
Thanks in advance and best greetings :)
Glad to have helped. Manual is more my style just to feel a bit more connection. But the dct is great as well. Depends on what you are after in a car.
OG M2 + M Performance exhaust = PERFECTION
I remember watching your e46 m3 sound clip flybys when I was in high school. It would be so cool to see you in a BMW again :)
Damn. OG right here haha.
I have a 2 series and it drives me nuts that there is no sync for the AC haha you are not alone there! As far as CarPlay - it was a $20 code fix at least cuz that also drove me nuts (which was well worth it)
Omg no Sync button! The 228 and 230 come with it. Why is the M2 missing?? Lol I hold that same grudge
In the same boat myself at the moment. Cross shopping the f80 M3 and f87 M2. I'm really leaning towards the f80 M3 because I already have an e46 M3 and e92 M3 so my coupes are covered.
I daily drive an Evo X as a family car. The platform is getting old. Looking into an M2 or a 21 STI. Will I still have fun in the STI? Would really love an F80 M3 but its not my ideal budget. I only have a 7 year old daughter. Would you choose the M2 or the STI for a daily?
STI hands down. You’ll appreciate the 4 doors with kids. You’ll get by with the m2, but the practicality of the STI wins over the m2 for me.
Dude it’s so nice to have the same thoughts you have about which cars you like from the m cars through the subarus and at the top the Porsche, and in my opinion you should get and m car before you jump into the top level, I feel so connected to you that I could say that’s pretty much what you’re gonna do😅
I just put a PS2 turbo on mine and it's pretty rowdy now. That rear loves to kick out now haha
The funnest stock 6 speed car available that is not 6 digits.
I love this channel and the way you review and see cars. I resonate with it a lot because it’s the way I look at them as well, The mods that you pick and the way you style them is like an aggressive OEM+ version of the car, the reason I subscribed. But seeing how I am biased towards the m2 especially a comp, I would like to watch you own one of those and see the styling that stems from that. But if it the choice is f80 would the STI be leaving? Or would the f80 be a 4 door alongside the STI? Either way I look forward to whatever you purchase, but I think a M coupe would feel right at home with you and the STI. Cheers, and thank you for a great review. Looking forward to picking up my m2 comp.
Thank you! I’m glad there are people out there that can appreciate my mindset instead of the typical bullet point review.
In regards to if either would replace the STI, it would most likely take its garage spot. But who knows what will happen.
What's your opinion on the OG M2 vs the 911 you drove earlier ? I have this M2 and was thinking of moving to 997/991 C2S .
People often ask me to compare the cars I drive to others and it’s tough. Comparing apples to oranges most of the time.
The way I approach it is how a car makes me feel. Doesn’t matter if it’s a 30k car or a 300k car. If I get the same enjoyment out of the lower cost option, I’ll go for that.
But I will say the Porsche is superior overall. It’s on another level quality. I recommend driving one and seeing what you think. I stayed away from them as long as I could because I know it would taint my mindset.
This is definitely the best looking small M car coupe. The 1M looked great too. I think the E92 coupe is still my favorite M car overall though.
Hard to beat that s65 v8
I currently have an E46 m3 and a 2011 WRX. I'm considering going to one car - an early M2. Would this M2 be a worthy replacement for both?
I think it’s a great alternative for both. It reminded me a lot of my e46.
Thanks for the reply. I think the biggest thing I'd miss would be the rawness of the S54 engine.@@Scoobyfreak86
The camera is crazy 💪🏿👍🏿
Car seems fun, but I don’t think this shits even close to the STI, knowing the STI is fully bolt on and the bmw doesn’t look that modified
It’s completely stock, but you have to enjoy a car stock before it’s modified.
Um I love my evos and sti but this m2 with the n55b with bolt ons and tune will crush an sti and with way more reliability. Honestly you'll spend way more money trying to get an sti to keep up with a b58,n55,n54 those inline 6 turbo motors are insane. Not bashing the sti but you have to seriously build that motor to make 450-500whp safely because of the seriously weak internals and fueling. Fun car though if you are just doing maybe a stage 2 tune and reliability.
Great car but the STI looks more ballsy and I think you might struggle to go from AWD to a slippery RWD... especially once it's tuned..
I’ve had more rwd cars in my life than AWD. Both great, but I overall prefer rwd.
Is it because they feel lighter? bit less understeer? I've had high HP RWD and they are fun but I find them frustrating in slippery road conditions - after buying an STI I can't go back to RWD
High hp rwd is different. If you don’t overpower the car and have the right tires, the car is more than capable.
I feel like you can become a better driver driving rwd as it takes more skill and experience to handle it. AWD is almost like a cheat code. Fun in its own right but different skill set that one can obtain.
I get it - I definitely felt like I drove better and with more confidence once buying the STI but I would agree it's most likely the AWD system that makes the driving 'appear' better
Nice M2!
I’ve got a 2018 LCI and I love it! Wish the seats were comp seats
Can always swap them in. Lots of n55 guys do that.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Yeah its on the list! But I want to add a front lip to it
