    Just watched your review as I have just bought a 2018 Karoq SEL 2.0 diesel DSG AWD.
    Some valid points raised too. The vario seats are rubbish agreed. Sat nav: do your research on Google maps or a old fashioned road atlas before you leave. 12v sockets: get the dash cam hard wired in.

      Hi TR. I must be gluten for punishment. I now have a 2023 version. The Nav is slightly better. The rear seats are still annoying. They have cut a few corners with the plastics etc. this was is a bit wheezy when towing up hill but the engine is brand new there slight signs of improvement. Thanks Phil 👍🙂

      HI Ian. Thanks for the idea. If you are still interested I would go for the SEL or above Models more features and better weights. There are plenty of used Models with great features for less money. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Hi Phil. Great video. Thanks for sharing. I have hardwired my nextbase dashcam, which turms off the power to it when ignition is off. It's also neater than having to use the power socket by the gear lever. Hope this is helpful. Tim

    Good review Phil. I'd be happy to always get 32 mpg to be honest. Reversing camera looks great, neat tow hitch although not meaty enough for my old Patsy. Like the side tabs in the boot floor too. Rear seat issue aside it looks a cracking tow car.

    Nice update Phil, in-built Sat-nav's are never that great however we did have a Renault which was TomTom and that was good. 32MPG is quite good when towing, we get about 28MPG! I've also read in the past 3 different Nose weights for your car, 75,88 & 90kg I think 90kg is more realistic. Great vlog, speak soon, Martin

    Yes agreed the sat nav is disappointing it’s not the most user friendly as for the lighter it’s always live , I’ve bought a extension with a switch, because I know what I’m like , however in mine boot space is very disappointing so hence the roof box , last journey was Cornwall to London average was around 32 mpg so not much different, good tow but outfit goes better with increased weight in car
    Think your seats in front are nicer
    Anyway cheers mate ! G&Z

      Hi Steve. The Karoq 4x4 is a great suv for towing and pottering around in. I can recommend taking a looking at it or the VW Tiguan and Seat's Ateca. These are all very capable at the job and the MPG is very good too. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    My octavia had the perminantly live 12v socket and that caused me a number of problems as the usb charger was always live and it depleated the battery in winter. Skoda said i had to remove it. That said the octavia was a shockingly unreliable car.
    The VAG Satnav is not a patch on the mazda system. i just use android auto now. That said i preplan routes before i leave so i know where i am heading etc.Navs are just great assisting systems.
    30+mpg for towing i think is great, you have basically doubled the weight the engine needs to move, but not halved the economy. you are essentially pulling a box with a box.
    Skoda/VAG have some good design features though. especially in the boot area.

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  4 роки тому +1

      Hello. I have to say I am a tad spoilt because other cars I have own mainly Audi's have returned better mpg. I accept the towing does reduce it but the permanent 4x4 doesn''t help either. Yes the 12 volt sockets are pain. I have had no issues with it since owning it. The boot is very good for its size. Thanks for watching Phil🙂👍

    Some very poignant points, the seat release is shockingly bad, I also agree with you that the 12v sockets shouldn’t stay live. I sometimes have a 12v fridge in the boot & I don’t unplug it. Also having live sockets is a bit of a fire risk if the item it’s powering goes faulty.
    Mpg is subjective, depends on the size of the van. I get 27/28 towing a unicorn 4 Cadiz. I’ve also got the same style of towball on my Volvo but you have a shockingly low towball weight limit. For me that would have been a deal breaker, I used to have a ford galaxy with a 90kg limit & that was a pain in the bum to get the nose weight right.

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Scotia. Yes the 12 volt is an issue for me. Yes the towbar weight is light but better than the Kodiaq. My next car will be a lot heavier at the towbar and over all pulling power. Thanks Phil👍🙂

    Hi Phil
    Have I made a big mistake ?
    Would love your advice on this one.
    Just bought a 2.0 ltr karoq sports line 4x4 with the view to pull our 2019swift major 4 EB.
    But I'm kinda wishing I'd gone for kodiaq now I didn't realise at time kerb weight was so low compared to max tow of 2000kg. Thought it would be at least as heavy as a tiguan 1634 kg...
    So my question is on kerb weight to caravan ratio.
    Kerb weight of my car is 1561 kg.
    Carvan MTPLM is 1476 kg.
    So im towing at 94 % ( soon gotta do my b&e test first. )
    The unladen weight of my van is 1275 kg and im hoping to keep weight of the van @ 1350 -1400 kg
    Im just concerned about the MTPLM and kerb weight is at 94 % as im new to towing, the NCC tow check has made me question my choice in car thats all.
    Iwish I had checked before. But I cant go back now its too costly to part x.
    Is it a case of keeping nose weight of van around the 80kg mark and van weighing less than the car obviously well distributed load ove axles etc....
    Should I try and lighten the van? add as much weight to the car as I can ?
    Should I consider asing swift if i can alter the MTPLM?

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Matt. Let me assure you . You have not made a costly mistake. Although you are at 94 percent you are still fine to tow. Yes keep the nose weight at the 80kg and be mindful of your MTPLM. I found that my Caravan tows better with a bit of weight over the axle. I would leave the up-plating for now and see how you get on with your towing. The Karoq is a very stable Tow Car and you will love it once you work out the weight and what works for you. I hope this helps Thanks Phil👍🙂
