I thought I was watching the wrong video during the intro! And then I almost pissed my pants when she landed literally on TOP of her head 😂😂😂 still better than what I could do! Poor girl… And now I wonder, if that into was just foreshadowing!
I'm so excited to see this and am definitely setting aside time later today to watch it. Please keep the rhino content coming! Of course not every video can feature it but I'd love to see them in this series at least a couple times a year.
Match 2 game 2, why not play skyclave and hit brutal cathar, then acrobatics, and hit adeline and skyclave with the second skyclave and deputy triggers. you end up with 5 life, 4 blockers, and knock them down to 4 creatures total. They're hellbent, so unless they get a good topdeck, you can then yorion and gain more life/ hit more creatures next turn.
Actually would have won. Cast Apparition, get back copier and copy rhino. Opponent down to 5. Play acrobatics and copy rhino upon re-entry. Opponent dies to drain.
Finally some spotlight on acrobatics! I love that card since release. The high roll can even save your creatures from board wipes.
nonono my friend, the card will always save your creatures from a board wipe. even if you roll a 1 you get them back at the end step.

A deck so sweet that were playing historic
Match One against Gates Tribal got me excited. So I punched this deck list into Arena & to complete the deck, I only need:
4 commons
17 Uncommons
34 Rares
1 Mythic...Lol. Guess I'll continue living vicariously through MTGGoldfish!

Thank you for the fun video. I was rooting for the Yurion + Acrobatics explosion. Maybe next time.
Just want to say, I watch your videos all the time and really enjoy them. I had majority of these cards and took the idea and made it my own. I ended up with no blue but more ramp draw spells and focused more on black with hand disrupting. Flashing back a dude that makes them discard their hand can be brutal
This deck is very sweat, but does seem really dependant on some specific cards in a 80 card deck, especially siege rhino. Some suggestions to make it easier to do things without it:
*Damage from blinking: Dina, soul steeper, Marauding Blight-Priest, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Corpse Knight or Malakir Blood-Priest.
*Some interaction in Acquisitions Expert or Ravenous Chupacabra
*Game ender such as Craterhoof Behemoth.
*Board protection that works with blinking: Hofri Ghostforge
*more (pretty bad) blinking: Icewind Stalwart or Emiel the Blessed
15:10 should have evoked the mulldrifter and Ephemerated in response.
This seems very fun!! If I had a historic deck I'll choose this blinky value town deck or a maze's end deck
This reminds me of a great monogreen standard deck i ran back in the day, it was 4x See the Unwritten, 4x Greenwarden of Murasa, and some number of lands/ramp/other big creatures. You ramp, cast See, hopefully hit a greenwarden, and use his trigger to get the See back to your hand. Repeat until opponent dies.
21:30 casting acrobatics in your own endstep could have been a disaster of opponent didn't concede
Circus of Values was right there (or circus of rhinos if there's trademark concerns)

Literally JUST finished the Fish video. What timing.
It's almost like if 8 mana sorcery-speed Yorion from the sideboard is good enough for Modern that 4 mana instant-speed double Yorion is pretty decent. Funny how that works.
Yorion can blink all nonland permanents where Acrobatics is limited to only creatures. still pretty strong, don't get me wrong, but modern Yorion decks tend to play1-2 MV card draw enchantments as well.

That "does anyone ever select to play second" question reminded me of that deck a couple of years back where you would always do that, since you wanted to discard to hand size turn one 😉 i can't remember what it was, only that it used Serum Powder :p
You had an out to survive in match 3 if you sequenced your plays correctly. You didn't need to crack the food or play a land drop before Acrobatics. If you acrobatics first, you draw Inkeeper and an untapped land. Play Inkeeper, gain a treasure. Play the untapped land, crack the food to go to 5, then gain 3 more when your acrobatics triggers again.
But it happens to the best of us, no shame! Loved the deck!
That match was a masterpiece
40:26 Thrones of Eldraine is probably my favourite plane aesthetic wise. Do note, however, that I've only been playing Magic since Arena beta days. So only from Kaladesh onwards I've been looking at sets in their entirety. Returning to that plane... man, my feelings are mixed. Give me more art like Glass Casket and Charming Prince but do not pull another Broko, wizards.

If you don't Mainphase Acrobatics at ~ 36:40, you can play around burst damage by instead keeping "goose makes food, sac food" open and not die that turn, then probably do some winning stuff later. Or if they didn't draw 6 damage from hand, just acrobatics on their turn.
I've been playing this deck with Lagrella the Magpie to great effect

Deck name idea: Rhino Acrodrift? It feels like you have to get Mulldrifter in there somewhere because of how much work it puts in.
I made a very similar abzan deck just as Siege Rhino came out on Arena. Ravenous Chupacabra was a total champ in it.
That intro got me hahah

Unfortunately Seth what I’ve come to accept is that Wizards knows a lot of things, including how to sacrifice the health of their game to line their pockets. (I’m looking at you modern horizons 2…)
I guess we’ll have to see, but based off their recent track record, (especially when they are printing overpower cards that force people to spend $600 or more on certain standard decks.) I honestly don’t have too much hope. 😕
What a classic Seth deck. He makes it seem like this awesome deck that is tough to beat, but the reality is, it’s a very difficult deck to pilot and the average player would likely be wasting rares cards. Oh well, I’ll waste them anyway 😂

At 15:35 why not evoke the mulldrifter and ephemerate it? You could later get the ephemerate back with the witness and make it a loop.

I haven't been watching MtG content lately, but I had to at least click on this for the name "Rhino Acrobatics" alone.
We returned to Mirrodin after all...
On match two game two, he REALLY should’ve saved his Ephemerate and Acrobatics for blink blocking! He could’ve blocked Adeline with Rhino, and then blinked the Rhino! Adeline still counts as being blocked, and doesn’t have trample, so no damage is dealt.
This has to be the most hilarious deck I've seen in Historic so far

Unfortunatelly I don't have Ephemerates (common => rare) and Acrobatics. But there again, I have Cloudshift and Semesters End

I have a deck very similar to this except I use magda and other etb dwarfs plus prosperous inkeeper and kalain to get a bunch of treasures of acrobatics, then with magda i search terror of the peaks, caast another acrobatics, and let FIRE RAIN DOWN
I dont think its as consistant as this deck but its MUCH more satisfying when you get a big hit
You had me at Magda. Then I just skimmed to look for the dragon or artifact that you searched for. I was not disappointed. A man of taste.

Good God the amount of times he could have won just blinking rhino for damage and he just blinked mulldrifter instead -_-
My only problem with these kinds of decks is that pulling off your cool synergy generally makes opponents scoop, which always feels like a bit of a lame way to win.
But hey. I can't complain about Rhinos, now can I?
I just gotta know if that poor girl ever walked again? The happy chipper girl reduced to a real life Jabba the Hutt. I love it.

With all the Modern Horizons cards and fake cards coming into the format, and with Pioneer Light free of crap like DRC, I've been playing a lot less Historic the past few months. It's decks like this that get me to dip my toe back into the format.
So about your comment on throne of eldraine; people quit because the power level of the cards was too high, not because the plane itself was bad. Look at original Innistrad block compared to shadows block, it was wayyyy less powerful. They can do the same thing with eldraine. I'd wager a lot of players are going to say the set sucks when it comes out because they're going to be comparing to the original eldraine
This looks like loads of fun. Just a shame Historic is such an awful format with the digital only cards :-(

I'm sorry but eldraine should have been Lorwynn. The whole "let's just take Fairytales in their whole" is just too overdone, at least Lorwynn wasn't so on the nose with it
Also, I cannot think of a single format that wasn't effected by eldraine negativily and just the price of it was so absurd
And then the comment about eldraine being underwhelming disappointing players is true. This is why they shouldn't have done it, as there's no way to make players have a negative reaction to it
you really can't play historic and constantly point out every "fake" card
