She was in "Die, Die, My Darling" playing a housekeeper to a loonie old bat. As it was written, there was nothing to the role, just a plot device. But Yootha made it a proper, rounded character just with her facial expressions. She was a wonderful actress.
She was made for the part ...so sad her real life was so sad , lonely and unfulfilled . This series will never date ...simply brilliant . ...so very very cleverly written and cast . RIP Yootha .
What a fab hilarious comedy. I was just 6 when it started in 1976. First watched it when i was 6 with my family in Balham south west London. Now watching it again on youtube at the age of 54. We certainly made great comedies then. 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
One of British television's greatest pairings. I enjoyed George and Mildred and it followed Man about the House incredibly well. Brian is the only one left of the whole team. Thanks for the memories guys ❤ 😊
Interviewer doesn’t know what he’s talking about, I never thought the characters were unpleasant - they had flaws yes but weren’t truly horrible people or anything like that, they are likeable and Yootha & Brian had great chemistry together onscreen
And they were great platonic friends apparently. You can tell they are comfortable with each other being physically close here. In a documentary about her Brian Murphy said he was so sad that he wasn't able to help her.
Definitely very much of the time trying to come across as someone who saw G & M as typical clichéd out of fashion comedy....everyone still remembers Brian & Yootha don't ever remember him though.
We all know that the real star of this clip was the one relaxing on Brian’s head, Brian had quite a collection of hair pieces & apparently gave them all names, his Mane two favourites were Margery & Fanny, whichever one is riding in this clip I must say he wears it well ❤
Liz Dawn and William Tarmey (Coronation's Street's Vera and Jack) used to do the same thing in interviews. It could be because they think the public expect or prefer them to be in character, but it could also be that they just don't feel comfortable being their true selves in such a setting (the latter is quite possibly true in Yootha's case given the dependency issues we now know she was battling at that time, and which ultimately took her life). I'd guess a lot of people get into acting in the first place due to not being comfortable being themselves.
Little known fact Yootha dated Sir Roger Moore in her teens think she was 17 she told the story on an old tv show repeat that her and Roger had to run into a shop doorway during the Blitz in London on their first date.
The host is insufferable. Judgemental and just doesn't understand the characters. Mad me angry listening to his idiocy. The actors were extremely dignified, witty and balanced by comparison.
R.I.P another comedy legend gone, thankyou for entertaining us over the years brian, deepest condolences to family ❤
The series is still hilarious all these years after.
RIP Brian, just heard the news. Thanks for the entertainment.
I miss Yootha Joyce 😢 she was a very talented actress.

Legends. What ever happened to tv comedy of this calibre? Gold.
Blame p.c
@@MAte925Incorrect George and Mildred didn't rely on bigotry to get laughs. The reason comedy is crap today is that the great comedy writers are dead
When British television was great.
Absolutely
Yes
The 1970's was awash with great British comedy. Too numerous to mention. RIP Yootha Joyce. Lovely couple.
@@maudeboggins9834 Yes...we had plenty of well crafted and innocent entertainment.
Except its Australian TV interviewing British ...

Rip Brian Murphy x
I love seeing all these interviews with Yootha ♥️♥️
the interviewer is so outclassed here.
Absolutely.
And was as bland as lard .
RIP comedy legend and thanks for laughs to our country.

no he's not, some of the characters out of G&M and MABTH are still alive. Richard O Sullivan, Paula Wilcox just to name a few.
Thanks for sharing ❤
I loved that show ❤❤
Was only 15, classic series.
They were made for those roles together.
The interviewer looks like their neighbour Geoffrey Foremile.
From a distance I thought it was!
@markwhitaker503 yep but without the moustache. Should have mentioned that.
What about George’s magnificent carpet, or wig - he must have got tired of the comb-overs and got himself one eventually.
@@kathythompson2434 It's a good job as well.
My first thought!
Yootha joyce looks well here. She died less year later
Another series had been written but, sadly, it wasn’t to be.

Don’t rate the interviewer 🫣
Bryan & Yootha deserved better. ✨💫💕
I concur...dreadful. Yootha and Brian were great...very witty
Exactly.
The interviewer was useless.
He could have smiled a bit more
Definitely very much of the time trying to come across as someone who saw G & M as typical clichéd out of fashion comedy....everyone still remembers Brian & Yootha don't ever remember him though.

Just heard the news of the death of Brian
Good age 92
Part of my childhood growing up in the 70’s
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The characters are not unpleasant whatsoever. What a strange observation from the interviewer
It's bizarre that they're doing the interview half in character.
Very clever how they interchanged their personas to increase the momentum.

Don't make shows like that anymore, funny harmless comedy 🤣
Brilliant characters 👏 sadly missed. Great days of TV.
Little known fact Yootha dated Sir Roger Moore in her teens think she was 17 she told the story on an old tv show repeat that her and Roger had to run into a shop doorway during the Blitz in London on their first date.
Almost identical to Mr .Foremile the next door neighbour 🤣🤣
Mike riddoch radio clyde D.J. now passed on
Brian Murphy - brilliant actor. Dont like the toupee in this clip though lol. Yootha Joyce was just perfect, really talented
It was his real hair, he wore a bald cap as George Roper.
@@martinlimon3589 It's well known that he wore a wig in real life, then removed it to play George.
George’s syrup 😂
You can tell the interviewer had never watched the show.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
❤❤❤😂😂😂❤
Brian Murphy did turn out to have stamina, ending up in Last of the Summer Wine.
He's 91 now.
@@pauljordan4452 He reached 92, but sadly left this world at the weekend.
Nice rug on George 😂

That's some syrup
Yootha was an alcholic and she drank her self to death........ horrible story.
It's sad that she not with us 😂
And sad that he is not with us either now. Maybe they have met back up now somewhere else.
Interviewer a prat!
He's wearing a syrup
thats his hair..he wore a bald patch for george
@@TheRollthedice Other way around, he wore a wig in real life and took it off when playing George.
The comments in here ... clueless kids.
Is Brian wearing a syrup
What a dreadful interviewer!
The British and their teeth
brian with his wig on.....
What a rubbish interviewer.
