My son and I made the red salsa today, it is so good! We added some fresh culantro from our yard (we live in Honduras) and it gave it a nice freshness. Had it on their burritos and my taco salad tonight. Delicious! Thanks for sharing!😊
SPOT ON info! I now only use avocado, olive oil, ghee, clarified butter, lard, or beef tallow. However, since it's so expensive, I am using up my peanut oil till it's gone, for large batch frying. You didn't mention peanut oil. Thoughts?
My Uncle Mike (he is a chef) added mango to his chunky red salsa when we visited them in Dan Diego, California after my father died. It was delicious. I prefer chunky dips. My mother's side of the family is Filipino. My father's side is Caucasian. I solely look like my father's side of the family. My sister looks Native American. My brother looks Chinese when his hair is short and Japanese when his hair is long.
I learned from you Mayra a while back that the Jalapeño spiciness is in the veins and not the seeds. I started making Jalapeño poppers about a year ago and I couldn't understand why they were so spicy after I took the seeds out because so many cooks Ive watched said its in the seeds. Thank you for that information.
my ancestors came here with nothing, only what they could carry on a ship then once they walks off the docks, they were on their own. and guess what? they build cabins, my GGG was a shoe maker in minnesota, they were fishermen in Alaska and Seattle, they were farmers. they had lovely lives.
I’m too old for all that😅. I stopped TODAY at my favorite Mexican restaurant. They make their red salsa fresh every morning. They sell it and chips to go. I skip the chips. Couple weeks ago I saw someone from the restaurant buying up the best cilantro at a grocery store.
What chips are you using? I love fresh salsa I will be using these recipes as soon as I get fresh ingredients from my garden. Love your recipes, keep posting them
Those salsas look mouthwatering! 🤤😂. I agee homemade is so much better than the store bought. In the past i had ex girlfriends mom's make homemade salsas. They made my eyes water but i just cant help enjoying spicy 🔥 things. These salsas you made looked so good ! 😊
No heat in tomatillos. You can follow this exact recipe and just sub out the jalapeno for poblano or anaheim peppers. It will still be great. A little smoked paprika would also give you some smoky flavor without adding anymore heat. Heck, I even roast those sweet peppers they sell by the bag in the store and mix with hotter peppers to create wonderful flavor combinations. That is the great thing about salsa is you can just mix and match to your heat and flavor preference. Cheers!
Same here…LOL 😂 I like a little bit of spice, but I would probably do like half of one of those jalepenos. It gives me heartburn and then I can’t enjoy the flavours of the dish….ya know?
Wondering what chips you are using? I've been frying my own chips using the A La Madre brand you recommend but it make such a mess of my skillet. I have to use easy off oven cleaner to get that sticky grease off. I live in San Diego and Mexican food is such a big deal and all the almond flour chips are awful.
It goes serrano, jalapeno, poblano, anaheim, green bell pepper (regular) -- hot to mild -- in that order. I would recommend the anaheim since it is mild in both heat and flavor to start. If too mild... you can always add a few drops of any bottled hot sauce or even some ground cayenne pepper (from the spice cabinet). I mention those because they are common in most households. Cheers!
Maybe you have already tried, but I have seen UA-camrs slice the jalapeños, or put them in the food processor seeds and all. Way too spicy for me. Slice the jalapeños long ways and remove the seeds AND membranes. That’s where the heat lives. Also, I plant both the medium and large jalapeños. The very large aren’t quite as spicy. Pickled slices jalapenos are either mild to medium heat or HOT. @@susankievman642. .

Myra, you've outdone yourself
❤
Made both of them to take to a party 🎉 they are delicious!!
I always thought it was the seeds, good to know it’s the veins. Thanks 😊
These look great. I can’t do the jalapeño at all. The most I can handle is the heat in a poblano. I know I’m wimpy. Is there any heat in tomatillos?
No, there's not😊

You need to make a low card cheese chip for these to dip😊
❤ spicey!

I like both salsa❤ I not spicy 🥵 parson
I thought you were going to dance... 💃
😍😍😍
🧡
you never know what you're gonna get with those dang peppers hahah. I have made salsa with multiple Serranos AND habaneros and its not even spicy lol
🥰
Hablas español??
What chile is the next level down in spiceyness? Jalapeños are too spicy for us!
Pablano pepper I believe would be a level down

Both!! As long as they’re hot
This is very hot I only used 2 jalapenos lol🔥🔥also good. You have to salt to taste for sure
Not very healthy to cook on aluminum foil like that, then you used metal utensils on it... Not good
thx mom🙄

SOOOOOO ANNOYING 😑 WITH THE HEAVY ACCENT JUST FOR YOUR FOODS
Are you no longer eating low carb? Those chips are 17 grams per serving. 😮
Low carb is considered under 20 grams per day isn't it?
Most low carb people go as much as 50 carbs a day. Thats healthier carbs.
@rebeccasmith6945 good info, thanks!
Always a good idea to check the description box under videos for MORE information. She lists the link for the low carb tortilla chips.
