I just heard this song for the first time today, and immediately realised the following: 1. One of India's most well known song of 1980s'90s, Saat Samundar's (OST: of Vishwatma) opening tune was copied from the background tune of this song, and also... 2. The song Turn Back Time by Aqua also has a very similar type of rendering the lyrics....gn all

One of their finest songs..and you get the bonus of having Sir Ian Mckellen playing a vampire in the video as well.
Double win.
I was about to say "hey its gandalph!!" Used to watch this as a kid and didn't know it was him.
Hear hear!
He wasn't a big film star back then, so it was probably easier.
Sir Ian McKellen is a national treasure not just as actor but great ambassador for the LGBT community god bless him

I was 30 years of age when I was blessed with this musical masterpiece now 62 and the boys are still delivering with hotspot, but heart just makes me so emotional.
There is no doubt they are one of the most iconic bands of 80's pop new wave and synth music, a lot with the synths, fantastic.
Genius!
Tenant, McKellan, the homage for all the British actors who were the masters of horror, the production...
Still remember the first time I saw this marvellous clip decades ago. Masterpiece! ❤🙏🎼
The 80s music arouses so much longing in those of us who lived through it. I'm fortunate to be one of them.
Oh me too! I’m 50 and feel so privileged to have enjoyed the 80’s music all through my teenage years. My kids now listen to it all. I so miss those years.
@@alexandralusco I hear u. I'm 47.
Im born in 2002 and its making me nostalgic as well. Its like longing for a better time that you never got to see. But i am happy my parents made me grow up with 60s/70s/80s music and movies that they loved. Those days are timeless even for people born long after.
I remember watching this video when I was a kid on TV. Damn that vampire used to freak me out ! It still does in some way :P
+maia993 yeah, same here! But in the same time it was kind of exciting ;)
Played by the superb Ian McKellen
+Sparklelass Bloody hell!! Never knew that! Haha what a surprise and now I know it's so obvious!
+maia993 : Hi Maia, I have always had an issue with Vampire movie characters...They still scare the crap out of me.
It's funny isn't it, that even though vampires are fictional, yet they can still bother, unsettle and unnerve us.
But I still really love listening to Pet Shop Boys, they really are Great.
Mark Law
Oh well .. They 're creepy
haha Keep a cross with you .. then
Pet Shop Boys are really good actually , I like them too
I remember it was spring '88 and in primary school we were all carried away by this song with the 'vampire video' - Their videos made such an impact and they deserve more recognition for this
Это моя юность! Такая ностальгия... Спасибо за ваши песни!
one of their best, definetely underrated
Ditto
I played this song on my walkman at least a gazillion times in the summer of 88 while picking grapes in Oz... memories!
Могу бесконечно признаваться в любви. Не знаю читают они коменты. Реально они жизнь мне спасают. Люблю с 1986года.
This makes me feel sooooo old - I remember watching this on TOTP as a kid!! My sister used to record all of these on the Betamax!!
TOTP on a friday night around 7pm. Good times Melanie. I was born in 85 so 90s was what I can remember really. Not a day goes by without me listening to 80s music

Only Americans are obsessed with perfect teeth. And the orthodontic work frequently has the side-effect of elongating their faces, so they end up looking like Tony Robbins.
100% magneto, 100% gandalf
I wouldn't mind pulling up to my castle, with 4 violinists playing away outside. You know you've made it in life.
Absolute f**king belter of a tune!
Still remembering my childhood with this best ever song made. Thnx PSB
I was a child when I was listed this song over and over again,
on MTv music. It was wonderful time that never will be back, everything was original , biological
The one time I met Sir Ian I asked him which mad Genius thought up the idea of him and Tenant fighting over a girl.... He laughed loud.
if I was married to Neil i would never cheat with sir Ian xD
Never knew was Sir Ian McKellen!! Flipping heck!! Both gay fighting over a beautiful bride! Who knew. Fave song after ‘What Have I Done..’

Es una obra de arte, un cuadro del renacimiento hecho en el siglo xx
Just listened to them play this song live at the Hollywood Bowl and was spectacular!!! It felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity to see them!! I've been waiting to see them play their greatest hits for two years now since their tour got delayed!
Best Duo EVER!!!! ‘West End Girls’ heralded the dawn of their ‘Imperial Phase’, during which they scored four No.1 singles, also topping the charts with ‘It’s A Sin’ (1987), ‘Always On My Mind’ (1987) and ‘Heart’ (1988).
42 Top 30 singles. 22 of which were Top 20 ! Awesome legacy.

I hear your heart beat next to me
I'm in love with you; I mean what I say

Для меня они все такие!
Love Sir Ian McKellen in this. He’s an absolute legend 🙏🏽🙏🏻
I was surprised no one mentioned it. Few years back when I was watching X-men I was like I know him from somewhere… and I figured it out. Such an awesome actor.
When I was around 6 years old this one of my favourite music videos. No wonder that when I grew up I turned into a fan of metal music!
I love how in this video, everyone is so devoid of energy except the violinists and Sir Ian.
I just heard this song for the first time today, and immediately realised the following:
1. One of India's most well known song of 1980s'90s, Saat Samundar's (OST: of Vishwatma) opening tune was copied from the background tune of this song, and also...
2. The song Turn Back Time by Aqua also has a very similar type of rendering the lyrics....gn all
That crack of the whip at 4:03 is just such a perfect exclamation point on this one!
Gandalf the Black looks cool too.
как же я в детстве обожала этот клип!)
Узнала Гендальфа в старом вампире???
Wonderful song and video!!! Kisses to Pet Shop Boys Fans from Italy!!!
Elisabetta WomanInLilac 😍Great Love PET Shop Boys❤
Loved this song all those years ago when they first released it and still sounds good today. Deliciously dark and tongue in cheek.
my mom said this was her favorite song from the pet shop boys and i'm starting to love it to
It was PSB' time. 1987 - 1988. It's a sin. Rent. Always on my mind. Heart. Domino Dancing. This song was #1 in UK & in Germany
This song was a UK no.1 hit in April '88.
that's hands down the most beautiful goddess of a woman I've seen in a music video, ever.
You know a song is so fucking good when you make so many happy thoughts and you have so many great feelings hearing it. For example this song reminds me my daughter and my heart stops missing a beat. Respect to pet shop boys! Pure quality ♥
I'm listening to it in 2019! shivers down my spine!
Who listen this 30 years later??? 😲 😅 1988-2018 👍

Pop Masterpiece!!!!
This song wasn't as popular as 'West End Girls', ' Domino Dancing', 'It's A Sin' or 'What Have I Done To Deserve This' in America, but it sounds just as good as any of them.
The Pet Shop Boys are musical geniuses.
