Thank you Sir for helping me out with this video to replace the windshield gasket. But there were more stuff I had to remove, like the both sides visors and side moldings. 👍🏻🤙🏻

We just purchased a completely stock 95 YJ from a family member in CA, that has never been off pavement its entire life. The CA sun was brutal in the cowl gasket. With wet Oregon winters, this was a must do and your video made this job much simpler. Thank you for all your very informative how to videos

I bought a 92 yj a couple months ago, and I was literally able to do all fluid changes possible because of your videos! I also replaced the tie rod thermostat, radiator , and bunch of other small things and I can truly say that I wouldn't have been able to do so with out your videos. so THANK YOU! MUCH APPRECIATED! please do a meet up or something after all this covid bs is over!!

Do yourself a favor and replace the torx bolts that mount to the roll bar with grade 8 hex for future projects. If the torx ones are already rusted out they are a pita to get off without stripping.

1st definitely lube your windshield hinges. I shoot mine with WD a couple times a year. I replaced my seal in my 1991 YJ, hard top. I marked everything so I new how and where everything goes back. I had a huge problem getting the windshield back down to it’s original location. It seemed the new gasket was so fat the windshield wouldn’t go back to its original location. I couldn’t get the 3-hole brackets to line up and the windshield was about an inch from the rollbar no mater how hard I pulled on it. I eventually hooked up a ratchet strap to the windshield top center loop and attached the other end to the rollbar and still I thought I was going to brake the windshield. I also had to get longer bolts to pull the rollbar close enough to install 1 OEM bolt to hold the rollbar to the windshield frame so I could install the other 2 OEM bolts. Great video. Thanks

I replaced my windshield frame with fiberglass, they are notorious for rusting.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like the previous owner of my yj just said screw the gasket and just went to town with silicone.

Good video and to the point. Would have liked to see more of how the wiring was tucked for the wipers though.

I just I stalled my new seal on my ‘93. Discovered that one of the seal screws has been missing for more than 25 years since I’ve opened my YJ! I would occasionally get some water in the cabin. That explains it :)
I didn’t use any sealant on the front outer lip where it rests against the window frame.
Have you any leaks, or rust formation under the seal, without any sealant on that outer exposed lip?

What was the cleaner you used before placing the gasket on?

Although a little different than yours I plan on replacing mine on my TJ too . I don't have any leaks but I'm sure mine is the original one from the factory . Good video again Dale ,looking forward to next weeks live stream . I wont be able to watch it live due to me having yet another procedure on my back , but as soon as I can I will watch it. Take care and be safe my friend.

I wish I had thought of doing this, I replaced my front speakers about 2 months ago and had to put down the windshield. I don't feel like doing it again

looks like your vent intake cover is backwards. Until you are trying to remove air from the cabin to the hood. The air hits the windshield and goes down and forward on a jeep, you can verify this by watching ice and water move forward on the hood while driving at speed.

Nice Video as always. Do you have any plans on changing the windshield seal? ( I dont know if that's the name of it.) I was doing bondo work and prepping for paint and I'm worried about how to replace that piece.

Awesome! Are you going to do a video on replacing the glass? I think I heard you mentioned that you were going to paint the body - I am curious what you have to take off in that case.
    Thanks!

My 95 wrangler cowl gasket does not seem to be flushed resting against the top of the windshield frame. Not sure what I did wrong. I tripled checked, and everything was installed properly. Any advice?

So my windshield seems like I have to force it quite a bit to get it to meet back up with the role cage bars I was hoping to see if there was some kind of trick but I guess it’s just a matter of squeezing it back down?

Behold the sane man. When the world is ready to burst into flames he stays stoically focused on his Jeep, which he’ll need if and when the world bursts in flames. It feels great to put down UA-cam..🧐 Wait. I’m on UA-cam 😆

Isn’t your cowl scoop on backwards?

    • @tdck6186
      @tdck6186 3 роки тому

That's how mine is. It forces more air though the vent. When using heat, the air comes from the inside vent not the cowl.

    • @JeepSolid

There's debate about that. I prefer it facing toward the windshield. This is how the PO installed it. Haven't changed it. I did a wind flow test on the hood and found that at the base of the windshield, air is actually blowing forward.
