Time to lower the windshield and replace the cowl seal. Thats the rubber seal between the windshield and the top of the tub. It is a pretty easy fix and as long as you spray some PB blaster or WD40 on things in advance it should take less then 45 min... But it's a Jeep and you know how that works. The Grab bars are a breeze and only have 2 bolts on each side.
TOOLS:
T-20, T-40, T-45 torx. Short Phillips head, Ratchet, and WD40
HOW ITS DONE:
1- In advance - Spray penetrating oil on hinge and bolts. 3 on each side, two at roll bar, and sun visor mounts. Hit the front hinge as well.
2- Put cushion on hood to prevent breaking windshield glass.
3- Remove main bolts T-40 and T-45, sun visor outside bolts T-20. and roll bar bolts T-40.
4- Lower windshield.
5- Remove Philips head screws from cowl seal.
6- Clean area.
7- Put new seal on and replace screws from the center out.
8- Don't pinch the wiper motor.
9- Lift windshield and put all bolts back on.
Not a real pain and if you are fortunate there will be little to no rust. 30 -40 Min

It was more of a task to get it cleaned up then to install the new one. No more leaks.

Always glad to help. I would make sure the seal is set back so it fits against the windshield.Mine sticks out about an 8th of a inch. It may cause water to gather there.

It is my favorite Jeep. Not the most smooth driver, but that's what I like. It has the look and feel of a classic and the springs make it like a go cart to drive around.

Always enjoy your videos. I installed a new cowl today and at the front of the windshield it does not seem to be as tight to the frame as the old one. Is this because the old one was so old, worn, and hardened, while the new one is soft, and flexible?
I noticed the same thing. It’s not leaking anymore so I guess it’s working. Next up is the whole frame. I think it may compress and expand over time.

'92 here.... Ya should have taken care of that rust now or do it soon.... I did a whole windshield frame and and cowl seal replacement a couple of years ago. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to tear apart my dash to take care of some rust issues that I saw when I did that windshield frame... Next thing I know, the whole dash is off and I'm replacing 90% of it. After I tore that down, I took the jeep to the paint shop and it's getting painted....🤣😎. You have a link to those grab handles?
amzn.to/353LXRc I got mine at a 4wheel parts show and they were less then 50. I will have to pull the glass to get to the rust issue. I have pulled the glass a couple of time on a Cj and found it to be fun....
