    The best explanation video of a hard top installation on a YJ I've found on UA-cam! For some of us who are new to Jeeping, it's very helpful to see and hear an explanation of the steps and the details, like the foam tape, that would otherwise be missed. Thank you!!

    Thank you Sir for the help. Today I spent no more then one hour replacing the cowl gasket that has been dry wrought for years. I was afraid the job was too difficult to do myself and I could see spending the $850 I was quoted to do the job. Turned out to only cost $35 for the part and it was one of the easiest repairs that I've ever done to the jeep.

    I let out a shout when I saw the Nicholson Bridge! My parents grew up in Waverly, and Mom's ancestors were from Tunkhannock & Brooklyn!
    Oh - and great video, by the way!

      Awesome thanks so much. I am working on a history of nicholson mini doc. Its on the editing board. But still allot to go on it. Waverly is nice. The fancy part of town (-; but this whole area is nice in my mind. Where you live now ?? Check out my diesel engine swaps in my jeep sometime.

      A Guy Named Alfons I’m on Cape Cod. Nicholson is great! My Grandfather was one of the surveyors for the train track redesign that led to the Nicholson Viaduct - I posted scanned images to the historical society for their last big celebration. Give us a shout when the history is done! Take care!

    Thanks for the instruction! I’ve thought about installing mirrors in the front like you did, but how well do they stay in place during bumpy riding? I bought some after market door mirrors that would never stay in place while riding, so went back to stock mirrors..

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC  3 місяці тому

      I have a video up with my mirrors. Mine are fine. Its always the same mission. Beware cheap chinese crap and youll be fine.

    I hope you’re still answering questions from this video. It was informative and helpful, I have never had a hard top for my jeep and I purchased one from a guy that needs a back window. But, that I see the holes in the front where you can screw it to the front windshield, but I don’t think it’s threaded, or is it supposed to be?

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC  4 роки тому

      Does your windshield have hole drilled into it already that line up with the tops anchors ?

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC  4 роки тому

      Anyway. If the holes are already there any screw will do and it doesn’t matter if there’s not holes already pre-drilled in the windshield your jeep did not come factory with the hardtop. I would recommend not even using them as it sell them makes a difference. And if the top is firmly in place it won’t matter and will stay there anyway.

    Can you post a video of going back to the soft top? About 10 years ago, I'd heard rumors of a soft top kit that didn't need to be removed to install the hard top, but I don't see how it would work and can't find anything online about it. I want to switch back and forth annually.

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC  5 років тому +1

      I switch back and forth and this is a planned video. If you check out my other stuff. You will see my jeep is now under major mods. When those mods are done. I will make this video of switching back. If there is a kit that does what you say. I have certainly never heard of it for my year Jeep. And the way the soft top works it would require the hardtop be designed drastically different and very expensive Lee. I don’t think it likely

  • @jakemir
    @jakemir 9 місяців тому +1

    How did you bolt the hard top top the windshield? I bought a kit for my rear hard top bolt but everyone says to use self tapping screws in the windshield but I want something that can go in and out over time without an issue in the front

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC  9 місяців тому

      So. Mine was removed before to put the soft top on. It was just some screws on the front. Across the all metal lip that runs on top of the windshield. I just took the screws out that were there and then put them back in. Im sure self tappers would work. Or drill for whatever size fit through the holes in the soft top

  • @stevenhernandez3793
    @stevenhernandez3793 4 роки тому +1

    Did you add anything to the rails next to the windshield (ones right infront of the doors) to cover up the holes the softtop left?

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC  4 роки тому +1

      I didnt. I know the ones you mean. There is no need to do that. The hard doors seal tight against the windshield and far from those holes. Anything that passes theough them will be well on top of the seal of the door

  • @camcordernonsense5264
    @camcordernonsense5264 5 років тому +1

    So the front of the top may not even need screwed?

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC  5 років тому +1

      The tuck rail is screwed down. Not the too itself.
