Do you suffer from heart failure or do you know somebody with heart failure? Tell me in the comments which symptoms you felt.
Was it these top 5 or something different? I’ll be interested to know.

My dad had this. Right before he died he had one entire leg significantly bigger than the other. I asked him what was wrong and he had fear in his voice saying he didn't know. He suffered with a bad heart for about 15 years. He was one tough cookie. Survived heart surgery, 2 shoulder surgeries and a knee surgery. Dad, you did good for us. Rest in peace now

I did notice the lack of energy, out of breath after a walk, but don't remember any swelling, weight.gain, or palpitations. Doc couldn't figure it out. One night I felt an elephant on my chest got up and chewed 2 aspirin and went back to bed. Next day I took an EKG which showed nada. Two weeks later I woke up with my upper left arm hurting (from e xerox ise class?), and later that morning, a pain in my chest. My lightning fast mind said it was a heart attack . At ER I walked calmly into reception, and the rest is history. Two stents and heart failure later, I am just finishing my rehab, doing very well!

I had a recent episode of TAKOTSUBO cardiomyopathy. It was a wild ride. My vessels were pristine. It was all conduction related. I am a retired critical care nurse. Imagine what it's like to watch your monitor in 3 degree block. Then a long precode with my heart rate of 200 for 4 hours. (I am 71). They gradually got me stabilized and I am home and will soon be going to cardiac rehab. Thank you Jesus, and thanks for addressing cardiomyopathy. Yep, that’s exactly where I’m at right now. I’m on my way out and up. I’m going to try and push out a little more time, God willing, but my personal end is very near. Lifelong diabetic type 1 with a heart defect since birth, yet using health and fitness, prayer, faith, and trying to be a good, kind, peaceful person who helps others, and loves animals and nature, enabled me to overcome it for a long time. Eventually though, it was bound to catch up. It’s weird to know you’re dying, yet still feel so alive like you want to achieve, adventure, and accomplish so much more… oh well…

My mum had heart failure, fluid build up in ankles was the main symptom. Taking meds to control the fluid means going to pee about 20 times a day which is demanding especially when they rely on a carer. She died a year ago from sepsis infection from a small skin tear on her leg. Infection got the better of her failing heart within a day and that was that. It was a decent death after 85 years so can’t complain.
We’re all going to die, just can’t be sure how or when.

I was born in the early 1970's with Tetralogy of Fallot. In 1976 I had my first open heart surgery where at that time the surgery dealt with a patch being inserted in the heart. In 2003 I had my second open heart surgery where my pulmunary valve was replaced with a pig valve. It was around this time I started getting tired and found out I had CHF. 2010 was the doozy: Open heart surgery number three. I had my pulmonary valve replaced (with a homograft), mitral valve replaced, bicuspid valve replaced along with a twisted ascending aorta, and chordae "flopping" around on one of the valves. On top of this, I am on my third AICD. I have had chronic tiredness for years but still seem to get up and go.

My mums brother died suddenly in a doorway after running to the neighbours house five hundred yards away for help when he had a water leak. He was only about 65, he wasn’t overweight, didn’t drink or smoke, was fit and did a fair bit of running. Anyone would think or believe that he would last till ninety. Mum couldn’t understand it so asked the pathologist. It turned out he died of “Angina of Effort”, ( Pheidippides Cardio Myopathy they call it now) . He said it’s caused by not stopping and easing up when your body tells you to.
At some stage maybe months or years before he strained his heart, probably running up hill and down dale. Hence the renaming, Pheidippides should have slowed down a bit when he approached Athens after running all the way from Marathon in 490BC. He was the best courier the Greeks had, a professional dispatch runner and he wasn’t very old either.
So as someone once said “ Hey, let’s be careful out there”. 😊

Thank you for this explanation - I ended up in A&E on Saturday - I had funny tingling down one arm, and in two fingers on the same hand, with a feeling of discomfort across the top of my chest. I have previously had severe covid, and was diagnosed last year with Covid induced asthma. My blood pressure had also gone up from normal to around 145/95 (this is abnormal for me).
I have complained for nearly four years that my heart feels out of whack since I had covid. So they did an ECG, took bloods etc, and said I was fine, and sent me home. The only new thing I learnt was that I now have Sinus Arrhythmia (something I didnt have pre-covid, as I had an ECG a few years before).
I am concerned they didnt do a scan of the coronary arteries, while I was there - so intend to pick up with my GP tomorrow.
Hence why I am here, double checking stuff - thank you for leaving this for us all to read.

I was diagnosed with congenital heart failure a few years ago but it started, as l was informed, many years before, when l was hospitalized with pneumonia, and had to breath through an outlet in the wall of the hospital that delivered oxygen to my lungs. I remember it was extremely painful. I got better, but the damage was done done, and it resulted in the condition l now have. I get breathless when moving about, and caugh a lot, especially when l am in bed. Caugh drops help a little, and for a short time. I have nasal congestion, and am constantly blowing my nose both during the day and the night. I am allergic to dust, and cannot use paper handkerchiefs and use cloth handkies, which get soaked .l have a good supply of them, as l don't want to be doing laundry more than necessary. ( very tiring), taking me most if the day to put things away. I live in an independant living facility, but doon't mix much with the other residents , as their constant complaining of their health problems bother me, and l keep mine to myself, or to professionals that l am in contact with once a month. 😂😮😅😅😅

Breathlessness when I exert myself a bit too much where I had to stop everything while struggling to get my breath. I made 2 trips to emergency and 1 to my doctor. The doctors at emergency claims I wasn't having a heart attack. My MD just sent me home and told me to rest. I demanded a heart scan which turned up calcium buildup on my heart arteries. I started taking Cod Liver Oil which really help because the 2nd heart scan showed that the Calcium was mostly gone.
I never had any more problems until 2023 when I started having severe pain around my heart if I walked a little fast. But when I tried to mow my yard the pain really kicked in. I put my mower up and went to emergency again. And the next thing I knew I was taken by ambulance to the hospital in another city and was put in the ICU for a week where I had open heart surgery on April 13 2023. I’m in Darwin Australia, I have had AF for a long time, it started when I was about 20, and used to come and go, most often only for a hour or two before going back to sinus rhythm, then in 2016, something felt like it broke in my chest, and AF was happening, silly me waiting for it to go back to sinus rhythm, but after two weeks ( not a good move) went to the hospital to get it checked out. Well after cardio version, nothing, it was permanently in AF, and about a week later after lots of tests heart failure set in, along with cardiomyopathy, hypertension, and ischemia ( sorry not sure of what type), so, now 8 years later still heart failure, and cardiomyopathy, fatigued all the time, breathless all the time, and very fed up with being incapacitated, as I was always very active and hard working, a loved my sports, now nothing I can’t walk more than 40 metres

    Good afternoon Dr
My son was diagnosed with Heart Failure October 2022 on his 44th birthday 27/10/2022. My son has been diagnosed with Heart Failure over 2 years ago. He is 45yo. He has a pacemaker and defibrillator inserted. He suffers from all the 5 symptoms you have just stated.
These symptoms only commenced after being made to get the COVID vaccination in order to keep his job. Following the vaccination he immediately became so unwell that he was bedridden for 4 days which he only just slept and drank water. He lost his job anyway. The 2nd time he was made get the COVID vaccination was so he could get into a Refuge as he had been made homeless as he lost his job and was evicted from the rental place that he had recently moved into. He again fell so ill that he was unable to get into the refugee as they don't take anyone after 10pm, and he had gone to the hospital and then had to leave to make it to the Refuge, consequently missing the deadline. He had no where to go and was so sick spent the night in a park near the Refuge. He was so sick he spent was bedridden for 10 days. It was after this that he moved back home. He became breathless and thought it was stress at not having a job and any money. This breathlessness only worsened over the.next few months. He was unable to sleep as when he lay down he couldn't breath. This continued for a couple of nights and it became so bad that he woke me at 2 am and asked me to call the ambulance. This was October 2022. He was in hospital and his heart capacity 14%. The doctor said he is lucky to be alive. We live in NSW Australia. I would like your opinion that it is possible that it was COVID vaccine that caused the heart damage.
No-one believes me or my son it was due to him being made get the COVID vaccine.

LBBB has heart valves fighting each other, causing most of those symptoms in my case. A resynchronization pacemaker fixed everything.
Ejection fraction went from 28% to 45% (which is great).
My greatest symptom was dizziness upon standing after being crouched down doing manual labor. Sometimes so bad i would have hallucinations for a minute.
Blood pressures were not high. It was causing an enlarged heart and congestive failure (according to my surgeon)

My sister age 71 was diagnosed with afib about six or seven years ago and just recently was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She had an incident about a week ago where she woke up and could not breathe. She managed to retrieve a neighbor to get her to the hospital instead of calling 911. She left the hospital after four days of observation with a permanent oxygen tank. I fear I may lose her this year. She has all the symptoms, except I have not heard her complain about feeling tired all the time.

Excellent presentation. I think I am getting there. Mild swollen ankles by the end of the day. Better when I wake up recently diagnosed with Af. No sob.
I am also hypertensive, and is currently taking metoprolol 50mgs twice daily. This drug makes me tired and zaps my energy. I am also taking eliquis 5mgs. twice daily to help prevent stroke because of the Af. The metoprolol sometimes lowers my heart, below 60 bmp. The low heart rate, I think contributes to my low energy level .

Recently went to have a treadmill stress test due to extreme shortness of breath. No dizziness or fainting just no ability to walk 30 feet then I would have to sit down no matter where I was. Tech girls would not let me do the treadmill because there monitor screens showed I was in what they called Level 3 Heart Block and a resting heartbeat of 28 to 30 beats per minute. Next step immediate ambulance ride to hospital and heart pacemaker the next morning. Everything went well but now I have been researching this procedure ti find out if there was any vitamins or minerals I could of took to raise my heart rate without the surgery. Now I find out I was extreme low on Potassium and Magnesium in my body, and they are very important to keep a regular heartbeat. So, I am not super happy about having the pacemaker put in without knowing all my options. (age 70) I do feel much better now and energy level is 3 times what I had before the pacemaker put in. What do you all think? Tale Care Hot Rod

Hi, Good informative video. Have also heard lot of heart attacks were linked to previous few days of motion sickness and unemptied intestines with fermentation gas formation. These Gases get entrapped inside the heart pump or in the arteries and creates the air trap issue making the heart pump failing to pump, which becomes a heart attack...As per yogic practices, this gas is called Apana vayu and there is always gas attack...Can you pls do some research on this and find the truth ? Thank you.

I get asthma which I’ve had all my life, sometimes it’s just enough to maintain basic metabolic functions when a child, nothing like that now. I was originally given ramipril & amlodipine for heart some 12 years ago. I had sever adverse reactions to these two, it’s given me soothing akin to MS. Then put on 5 drugs, long names, I queried there polypharm, well it turned out they didn’t know that as well as they thought. Really affected the heart, Erythema, my ECG were just going berserk, very uncomfortable . Gave up with them. The only one I take now is the diuretic, though at times it’s very inconvenient, remember the MS. Come to conclusion, the treatment is as bad as the condition, at least for me.

I got a rude awakening the last time I visited the ED, at my hospital of choice. I went in because of water retention/swelling of my ankles and calves. It had happened a couple of times before, but weeks and months had separated these episodes, if you will. I knew that after the end of what was a 9-hour visit, that they were just going to re-prescribe Furosemide. Since that was the only thing happening(no chest pressure, no shortness of breath, etc.), I should have asked for a refill, would have been a cost of $1.14 vs., what is probably a $800 visit, after insurance. sheesh! Anyway, the summary was written up, and it read "due to the history of chronic congestive heart failure(CHF)..." I was shocked! I have never been diagnosed with CHF. They have been calling it, "preserved ejection fraction, unspecified HF chronicity" the Dr. went on to say, it's under the umbrella of CHF. Smh. He apologized that I hadn't gotten the tough discussions in previous visits, just how severe this really is. If diagnosed with CHF, there's definitely a marker in terms of average years left on the life expectancy. He went on to say that the things I am doing now, walking 15,000-20,000 steps daily, eating clean, cutting down (or out) alcohol., plus taking yet (2) more medications that protect the heart. It is very sobering to know there's other choices I need to make, if I only have so long to live. I mean, tomorrow is not a guarantee to anyone, but that's all about accidents. When we are talking about hereditary issues, or issues brought on by choices made, or onset illness exacerbated by Covid19, ...the next chapter is yet to be discovered on how to plan and live. where i am going to live, who i will be seeing more, daily, nightly, and finding that it really needs to be the healthiest choice for the rest of my remaining life.

Also my heart rate was 70 but at home it is usually at 60 so I think that is good. He did a stress test 2 years ago and said it looked very good. I went on a keto diet 2 years ago and lost 20 pounds but still have too big of a belly. I'm sure I have insulin resistance. I wish I could reverse this but I'm not convinced it is possible.
