DR. PETERSON: "As a young adult, I had read obsessively about the Holocaust, but never once had transposed myself as what it would be like to be the oppressor. I have heard you speak of this before and wish to thank you for that profound insight."

All the evil done on earth has done by humans.
You and I are humans. Understanding that is devastating.
Learning this made me have respect for myself the way you have respect for a weapon. Especially around the vulnerable.

I was having a discussion with my sister in law about how good people can be societaly manipulated into committing atrocious acts and she just could not understand how good people would let themselves do such bad things. I attempted to explain societal pressure and the need for acceptance are sociopoltical reasons why our fellow humans would do so, much the same way as witnesses to an accident will almost always wait for "someone else" to step in.
Dr. Peterson said it and explained it just now.

If you're looking for proof that some are in denial of this - this is the first JP video I have ever uploaded to my channel that resulted in a net loss of subscribers. Seven subscribers unsubscribed from my channel in response to this vid. Six new subs joined for a net loss of 1 subscriber. It's an uncomfortable topic for sure.

One man in a thousand is what the preacher found after counting (Ecclesiastes)
This is what he was referring to. Yes 1/1000, 0.1%, a very small statistic indeed.
Such men are not identified by their words, but by their deeds, and often by the price they pay by saying 'no' with action, not just words. Such men also know that they themselves have the capacity for great evil, even more than that of most ordinary men. It requires the strength of character that chooses virtue (usually at great cost) not as the default, but rather as a conscious opposition first to true man's own potential wickedness, then in opposition to the evil perpetrated by others.
