First of all, I like the work that you are doing. You make it look so easy, but I also know that you've done this a time or two. My question for you is: would it be easier to put a piece of scotch tape or blue painters tape across the pattern so you don't have to fish out the egg shell that you have carved?
Marshall Brummel I probably could type it where I have Already cut I just didn't think of it. Great idea. I have n egg carving nd etching group on Facebook come Join us
George Postins well if you are doing a cut out, when you bleach the membrane out of the egg the bleach should take care of that problem. If not, use a q tip and acetone and gently rub the pencil line. Make sure to rinse with water when you are done to stop the acetone from eating through your shell.
i have a dremel WEN flex shaft with speed control is it good for carving eggs. i really want to start doing this. i am trying to make a marmoreal for my dad you has past i want to put his picture inside with a battery tea light. i have duck goose swan and ostrich eggs
Hi Lisa,I have done egg carving for several years and find that an engraving tool (such as the Turbo Carver that Katy uses) is necessary. Dremel tools don't have the required rpm's to do egg carving.
Lisa Miller I know people that have used this tool for years to carve eggs. It is harder and does take longer and you will have vibration which can cause breakage, but it can be done.
It looks like you only made one hole to blow the egg and I would like to know how you did that. I would also like to know how you put a little tie in it to hang it
Beverley Schoenherr I drill a hole big enough for my blasting needle that I have attached to a fish pump and blow the insides out. I also have a video on draining eggs
Hi Ms Katy Wilson, I know this video is a couple years old and you might not be active on this platform, but I've been doing my research on turbo carvers/borers and found they're retailing at around $100 - 200 AUD I was just wondering if you know any methods of egg carving that aren't so dear?
Isa Nieto you can use a 35000 rpm nail manicure machine and it will use the same burs mine does, but it will be a lot slower. You can find these on eBay or amazon
agnes mckenzie at turbo carver.com if you purchase one let him know I recommended. I don’t get anything just letting him know where his customers are coming from
I use a 33 1/2 inverted cone to outline and use a 699 tapered end for the cutting and smoothing. I have a book on Amazon called egg carving for beginners that tells you about many different burs and cuts
Gracias ,desde Asturias ,España
Thank u Katy!!!

I also would like to know how you blow the egg out thank you ☺️
Yvonne Attard I usually make a single hole from bottom and then just use a large syringe to suck out the contents. Works perfectly for me.
Beverley Schoenherr I drill a hole big enough for my blasting needle that I have attached to a fish pump and blow the insides out. I also have a video on draining eggs
