Audi A3 S Line "soft top cannot be used" error message and roof stuck.

- This video shows a simple fix if one of the roof switches jams. When this fault occurs you can only open the boot manually with the key, the keyfob and the electric button on the boot lid will not work.

I have the same problem on my 2008 Audi TT soft top, will try in the morning to see if this fixes it, thanks you are the only person I can find who's done a video on this
Glad I found this video, was scratching my head trying to work out why mine didn't work, was as simple as WD-40 and moving the micro switch by hand, as you showed.
Saved me a fortune at Audi thanks .

I tried so many garages all they said is that its a position sensor and they need tha car for a whole day to fix this and some even quoting me 250quid , i have a vw cabriolet and it had the same problem so i tried your solution ,by just manipulating the area near the panel and it worked !

Thank you so much for this video, you have no idea how much it helped when I had this issue whilst travelling over in England last month. We managed to get the roof shut and locked so we could travel back to the Isle of Man. Today I showed the guys at my local garage and hey presto they got it sorted all for £40! Like you say Audi would have charged me a fortune, plus we don't actually have an audi dealership on the island! Many thanks Nikki @ www.albanyhouse.im

My roof opens but has decided not to ‘lock’ in place so the windows don’t go up after & beeps . Going to try some wd40 in case that’s the issue
Great vid - exact same prob here with A3 8P 2012 model, roof stuck, just open, boot doesn’t operate on central locking system, unclipped roof front panel and found switches, WD40, clicked switch repeatedly to free off. Nothing happening - anybody help further.?

Hi David, glad that got you sorted, it may be the windows need re synchcronizing and depending on what model there are various ways, if you do a quick search online there are sites that give you the info for each model. Mick
Thanks for the reply I have a A3 Convertible 2008 Sline and the back windows are one touch down but will not do one touch up so I think this is why the fob is not working to make them go down or up on the key.

The plastic trip just pulls down, the clips just have to be aligned when you push it back up

Can't remember exactly but they are metal clips spaced along the trim and just push back in once line up

It may well do although i'm not familiar with the exact set up on the A5
So mine stopped working a few days ago and the boot didnt open as you said but also the rear right window wasnt opening. Now its working again. Do you think its the same switch you showed getting stuck?
The switch wouldn't affect just 1 window so I would think that must be a different fault.

I'm having a problem with the rear deck lid it opens but doesn't stay up long enough for the top to actually fold in ! !!

You will have to close it manually to get to the switches shown in the video. If that does not fix it then it will be a different fault to the one shown here, Mick

If it doesn't open at all it may be a power feed or relay fault.

Hi great video... i lubed up the switch and my stuck roof now works from thenutton but it cannot complete the last part of bringing up the windows and the error light remains... any idea?
Try opening and closing the roof fully a couple of times as sometimes it just need to go through the full cycles to reset.
