the way she's dreamed about her daughter wearing her wedding dress all these years just for her to put it on and the mother decided it's not her is something so many mothers on the show need to learn. absolutely sweet
Sometimes it takes a real visual to hammer the point home.
it is traditional to wear your mother's or grand mother's wedding dress. that is why the dresses were so carefully saved.
Somehow it doesn't feel very possible that she applied for participation on tv show in order to try the dress on and to realize that it's not for her. This is scripted TV content, this being one of those moments. I think this show has poor lighting and vibe. I feel better atmosphere, softer lighting and more intimate setting would make dresses look better, like they do in some other shows, like Ireland, NY or Gok's. It's not all about lighting, but a great deal is. All these dresses here, even when different and special, appear to be generic and cheap looking. Please do something about the setting.
I love my mother's wedding dress, it could be easily mistaken for a modern dress, but she refuses to give it to me, since her marriage wasn't happy
I've never seen one that doesn't come to this conclusion though 😊
I can't believe all this time I knew David was a royal wedding dress designer, I did not know he designed Lady Diana's dress!

@@wsfggf finally after all these years I found someone who agreed with me. Diana's dress made her look like a Disney character and not beautiful and timeless and classy like Diana was.
@@wsfggf Thank you for saying it. Diana was stunning, even with her height she was lost in that dress, and what's worse, it looked rumpled when she emerged from the carriage. It wasn't a triumph, imo. The Queen's wedding dress was.

Smart bride. She saw that the big poofy ball gown wasn't going to work for her. They were all supportive of the bride. The dress she chose looks lovely on her.
It doesn’t though.
This is, for me, one of the most relaxed appointments I've ever seen. No drama, a relaxed environment which surely helped the bride to choose HER dress.

She was probably wondering if she looked like that when she wore it! It's a dress that swamps a person I think.
If her daughter had really wanted to wear it then it could have looked a lot better if they took off the puffy sleeves and the horrible big bow on the back.
@@cyflym11 true I hate the puffy sleeves but I have pictures from my childhood from 90s wearing puffy dresses and I cringe when I look at them 🤣
I'm so happy for this bride and her amazing mom, so have the kind of relationship in which she can say such wonderful things about her.
Mum's dress looked really nice on Mum. It's not only the difference in time, it's the difference in personality and physical type. She is a different type from her mum, I think.

I was once invited to a Disney princess motto-party and my Mum had the idea to colour her wedding dress and wear it. So I have worn it a few times and we are both loving the pink colour ♡
So nice to see such a loving and healthy relationship between mother and daughter on this show. And all the bridesmaids and friends being loving and supportive.
I was overwhelmed knowing that David Emmanuel designed Princess Diana's wedding dress...none more beautiful than that

@@stephanieyee9784 I always thought that it looked like the dress was wearing Diana...rather than Diana wearing the dress...too, too big and bulky for her. I remember being so disappointed when I saw her in it.
That was so sweet. She looks stunning in "her" dress. I bet to this day David Emmanuel has nightmares of being chased by that royal gown down a dark hallway! LOL but it was sooooo gorgeous for all of us who remember that famous walk down the aisle!

Mum's dress was actually beautiful, with elegant and delicate details and a very royalty style. The bride looked cute but the sleeves were so distractive; what matched her mother perfectly, didn't do the same for her and it was unfortunate. In the other hand, ball gowns and princesses dreams are not for everyone. The second dress was not fitting and had the same effect as the first one. The dress she rejected with shimmery details was perfect but at the end, she found the best style, with moderate lace and slightly bling, a fusion between princess and mermaid gowns. Glad to see David Emmanuel taking care of a budget.

I love that she tried on her mom’s dress. I tried my mom’s on years ago when I got engaged and couldn’t get it over my thighs haha.
My mum had a short lace dress as it was the sixties so I was never going to wear that and though I saw it a couple of times when I was a child I don't think she kept it anyway. In the end I didn't have a proper wedding dress at all as it seemed over the top wearing one to the registry office. I only wanted a small wedding and we had a lovely stress free day with our friends and close family, but my ONE regret is that I didn't at least go and try on some wedding dresses while I had the chance to see what I looked like. It just didn't occur to me at the time.

When it comes to wedding dresses (and clothing in general) you really need to look for a dress that complements the bride, not the other way around. I think that's why it's so hard for some people to go dress shopping because they are so used to the idea that clothing wears them, but in all seriousness, we wear the clothing and we are the reason they look so amazing.

Didn't like the mother's dress and thought that Diana's was ghastly. IMO it just overwhelmed Diana's delicate beauty.

She didn't let her ego get in the way & insist, or be offended... she REALLY thought her daughter could do better & more moms who try to get their daughters to wear their dress, should take a page from her book, that its not about YOU, your daughter is making her own memories.

But was he wrong? Like you can’t go in and be like “I want this expensive style but for cheap” and then be upset it’s not cheap

@@fanfiction4thewin149 I definitely don't think he's wrong in the message he was trying to get across. But there was a nicer way to approach that for sure. Not to mention, money and budget can be a sensitive subject so to make such a comment at that time was inappropriate on his behalf as a professional. Also, why ask the question if you are not prepared for the answer? It is their job to work within the bride's budget she gives. Perhaps 1:1 privately and careful phrasing of the words; "you have to understand that what you're asking for can be really tricky to find in the budget range you've provided. But we're going to try our best". You have to remember these are professionals, sometimes David does not watch his tone and I find it quite insensitive from time to time.
@@louisee1267 I think he was actually being quite nice and said it in a joky fashion. The bride said she loved her Mum's dress with the train, which would be expensive and then she flipped to Kate Middleton- completely different! Both dress styles would be well over budget

Wow, her mom's dress is gorgeous and fit her perfectly. She could have just made some modernizing alterations -- removed the sleeves maybe -- and worn it on her wedding day. She could have saved a lot of money.
Yes seamstresses doing massive alterations are so cheap these days with non sewers!
It looked absolutely hideous on her. No one liked it, not even mom herself. It was mom. Not Katie.
Now Katie got married. Not mom the Second.
But that would have changed the mom's dress to look completly different and if the bride disliked the dress with the changes made it would have been all for nothing. So this way the bride found her perfect dress and they still have the mom's dress to look at from time to time, if they want to. And maybe someday there will be someone else loving the dress as it is and appreciating that it is still in its original state :)

My dress was not quite as big as Diana’s, but the influence was there. It was horrible, but I didn’t have many options. Were I doing it over, I’d definitely hold out for something Kate Middleton.

Wait...what? He designed Princess Diana's dress???? Then his design also inspired my wedding dress because it was a Princess Di inspired dress too. Honestly, I wish I had gone with something more timeless but it was pretty.
My own mum had a very lovely dress and she thought perhaps it could've been mine but unfortunately it had yellowed too much and would cost more to clean than buy new but the one I chose certainly had some resemblance :)

Although the mother's wedding dress is no longer in style, it is a very pretty dress - very well made for one thing. And very floaty and ruffly and well-shaped and still pristinely white. The daughter needs the current style of dress because she wants to wear the latest style. But that doesn't mean her mom's dress is horrible and a monstrocity and therefore the daughter can't wear it. It just means that the current style is different than what Cinderella would wear. But I guess they say these things to create more drama for the show.

I actually didn't like that dress on her that she picked. It washed her out and didn't flatter her shape IMHO. One thing I do understand though is that if she likes it that's enough. I hope she has a great wedding.

She initially said that she didn’t like the dress she chose because the bling made it look grey. Then she said she was afraid she wasn’t going to find anything she loves. Then she walks out with a smile on her face, asking to see the dress with a veil. What happened to change her mind from her initial reaction? On a side note, her mom is gorgeous and Princess Di’s wedding dress was awful!
