This was a really interesting video. I had no idea there were these Oxfam bridal shops in existence. The combination of the charity and the historical aspects made this video very unique and fun to watch.
I do agree with you, this was a really unique take on "Say Yes!" I am impressed with the concept of the Oxfam shops and wish we had such a commodity in the U.S. We have vintage, thrift and consignment shops but quality and prices vary exceedingly and I've never seen one only for bridal wear. I guess that's not to say they don't exist (l only went wedding shopping twice, once with my sister and once for myself), but I've never heard of one before. I think it is a great option for women who don't want to or can't spend $$$ on their dress. Thanks for sharing this episode with us!
@@Anon.5216 And of course the ridiculous salary of the CEO’s cut comes out before the money from the sale helps others around the world. I never donate to them because of that.
I absolutely love the concept of Oxfam bridal shops! The issue I had with most of the dresses that Laura tried on was that she obviously has a pear-shaped physique, so they should have looked at dress styles that had more of a cap sleeve, or more detail at the top to balance the bottom half of her body. I do think that shapewear will definitely improve the appearance of the dress.
yeah, NONE of those dresses did a thing for her figure, they were clinging and highlighting all the wrong places. but she does have a point about it being so cheap she can get two, and that looks like it would really suit a steam locomotive. for her shape and the era she's looking for, she really needs long sleeves, lots of lace, and probably a fair number of buttons as well.
I LOVE this!!! What a great way to get an awesome dress and not feel guilty about spending a ton of money on a dress you'll wear once. No shade to others who do splurge; you do you! But this is amazing!
Where are the episodes with Gok?! The consultants for this episode didn’t even try to find a dress that actually suited this beautiful bride. We want more Gok!
A beautiful dress and the style really suited the bride to be for her reception. I really liked that there is finally an episode where there is no pressure to go over budget 😅
If the brides don’t want to go over a tight budget they need to shop secondhand - not go to a bridal store with a higher price point in central London. I get sick of seeing DE unfairly criticised when people come into the shop with unfair expectations given their budget.
@@camellia8625 or maybe if someone comes into david's shop with a £1000 budget he should just tell them "we have a very limited selection in that price range, i recommend this shop instead."
@@dietotaku That wouldn't be drama enough for a TV show, would it? And I'm sure the brides can walk out anytime if they aren't happy with the product/cost.
Oh, this bride is so pretty! 🥰i wish they had tried on more and found her a wedding dress as well. I'm sure there were more interesting pieces in that shop that would have been a nice vintage bridal for her.
Both me and my wife had our wedding dresses from a charity shop. They were brand new, never been worn and cost us £650 for the two. I loved them and have no regrets - spending thousands for a one day outfit is insane to me.
That’s awesome! I agree, it always amazes me how much people spend on wedding dresses/ weddings in general. Of course it’s such a special day but it’s all about marrying the person you love. A lot of people lose sight of that.
There's nothing wrong with charity shop dresses, I would definitely wear one. Actually my sister paid quite a lot of money for her wedding dress from a posh boutique. It was lovely and she looked beautiful, but a year later I saw the exact same dress in a charity shop for £20! I hope the person who bought it felt special even though they didn't get it from a posh shop, because there was no difference really.
I’m all for paying less for the dress, but none of these dresses were even remotely flattering on her. She’s a pretty girl and these dresses bring her down.
@@brendadion7868 no need to be rude. quite frankly, I agree with her. they could've put her in better picks had they familiarized themselves with the stock better. I blame David 🤦♀️
That last dress was the most flattering on her and, with the right undergarment, it will look even better. I love how the neckline and shoulder area allows her beautiful face to shine through 💞
What a lovely way to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. I've been a fan of David Emanuel's since 1981 when he & his wife designed Princess Diana's iconic wedding gown. This important work w/ Oxfam cements his place in my heart❣️
I sadly agree that none of the dresses did this pretty bride any favors. She would have been better fitted if she wore an undergarment that tucked her in, especially in the belly area.
The mum was being polite when she said the first dress wasn't bridal so the veil didn't help. What she meant was it makes the bride look a lot heavier than she is. It wasn't a flattering fit.
I think this woman is adorable and admirable, and she's not spending nearly as much as so many people, but as someone in the US who has never made over 7k a year of his life and currently is struggling to get back to work and school, i just started crying when she said she'd spend a thousand pounds. The important part though is that she does want to buy from Oxfam and donate it
Yikes vintage does not mean unflattering and daggy. What the heck were those dresses? They were all awful! I don't even like that"reception dress" it looked horrible and made her hips look gigantic 😅 she should have saved her money
Underwear is very important when you try on wedding dresses, she’s very pretty but she didn’t have the right underwear on so you can’t see what it would look like
prices on these dresses are amazing. Many of the dresses donated by high-end designers are from prior years designs and sample dresses; so they are no longer part of the current designer collections.
What a waste of time and resources. How come David couldn’t make any better for this lovely bride. All the dresses she tried were hideous and completely unflattering for her.
I love the idea of the Oxfam Bridal Salon. Unfortunately, I don't think they are taking into consideration her shape. Fitted is not the best for her although the reception dress wasn't bad.

I bet there’s something similar just hard to know where
If the people who make bridal gowns donate so many to Oxfam it just shows the prices they charge are ridiculous because brides can't afford them.
