Are you happy with how Astrid and Hiccup’s relationship developed and the lessons they learned during the events of the Hidden World? Let me know below! Have a magical day, fun people! ✨
I honestly applaud Dreamworks for how they portrayed this love story. It wasn’t forced or unnatural. It’s easy to see why Hiccup and Astrid work. It’s not just because they truly love each other: They challenge and support each other, balance each other out, rely on each other, and as the video says, bring out the best in each other. There’s no dominant one in the relationship because they’re equals. Most movies and books portray relationships that are rushed, shallow (based mainly on looks), solely physical (based mostly on lust/sex) or have one person in total control while the other just meekly agrees. Yes, those stories sell, but if you put the couples in real life, they would be viewed as dysfunctional or maybe even abusive. Hiccup and Astrid are a rare example of a movie couple that is healthy, functional, and realistic. They weren’t an official couple right away. The relationship was given time to grow and develop. It’s honestly perfectly and I think that writers should follow Dreamworks’ example on how to create a good love story.
Completely agree! The most realistic characters and couple I've seen in many years. What we need to see is not always fantasy, it's just this. This is why I prefer the movies over RTTE, not only in this relationship, I mean everything in every character development (as far as the rest of them are built or how they use it).
Actually I do believe they are good couple but I kinda believed it was forced in httyd 1 in fact the only reason she was around was to act as a love interest but other series fleshed it out
Did you realize how astrid became less and less aggressive through her relationship with hiccup it's like hiccup changed her perspective on life how happy he made her he made her feel loved 😥such a good love story
One of the TV episodes had a hypnotic dragon that almost killed one of Hiccups friends. It was mentioned that this same kind of dragon is the one that killed Astrid's father. His courage was doubted as he did not fight back - Because the dragon hypnotized him. Astrid had to deal with the villagers doubting her fathers courage growing up. Once her family name was cleared, she had less to deal with in that regard. So was less angry and defensive. Hiccupp was not someone she even slightly considered as husband material when they were younger. During Dragon training, then meeting Toothless, she slowly realized there was a Lot more to Hiccupp then a clumsy, skinny boy. He made her re-eveluate herself too, and as she said... " Made her a better person."
I think it’s good that their frienship lead up to their marriage over multiple films/series. They didn’t rushed straight into marriage, that’s what makes them special and one of the best fictional couple.
Completely natural. I don't want to know what would have happened if their relationship was forced into marriage in the second movie, this trilogy shows exactly what a marriage should be.

Astrid never looked as beautiful before as in the third movie: a real and very special woman anyone would be fortunate to be with. She also looks stronger and not (only) because she can handle an axe like a warrior, that's because she is mentally stronger. Astrid's design improvement is clear, as long as her personality. On the other hand I just couldn't see Toothless picking the Light Fury over Hiccup because the movie didn't really introduce her all that much, so there's not really much reason for me to understand why all that happened. @@azazel_-or5pm The Light Fury just feels forced in my opinion. As much as I love this series with all my heart, I think they should have left her out. Ok, I have the same feeling you have there, my friend. I'm still sad about dragons leaving, and I can shed a tear seeing the last flight scene, knowing it's actually the last one and it's kind of heartbreaking. Still, it isn't so bad: as you said, everything came full circle and that's what I most love of this ending. Perfect ending, really don't understand how some people say this was a bad movie. I think this franchise is perfect with all the movies they made. Oh, and about the light fury, the most important thing was how Hiccup and Astrid's life would be after this, so she was used to fulfil that plot point. It kinda makes sense too: dragons are instintive, and as animals, they mate faster than us; and that is because they forge a link in less time, so that is why Toothless and the Light Fury's love story is made in one movie. Also, as an instintive wild creature, he needed to go and form a family with his new mate, and leave with the dragons to keep them safe (another important point)... What I mean is that everything had a reason to be. Beautiful, absolute beautiful.
amgere2195 agreed it all makes sense and eventually came full circle. Plus their children eventually meet eachother and the nightlights are so cute. You made a point because toothless is a dragon even though he acts very human like he is still a wild animal with wild animals instincts and wild animals usually mate as long as they both agree to be mates, so it does make sense.
Me😭 my brother kept saying that it was a happy ending and that i shouldt be crying But i couldt stop and we had to get takeout from the restaurant we were planning on eating at cuz i was straight up sobbing in the backseat😭
10:17 Astrid is still wearing a Viking cranson when she, Hiccup and their children go to visit Toothless and the other dragons at the end of the movie though, but why?
dragonweyr44 it was probably just her style of choice and like worso said she wore it daily so either she or all of berk didn’t follow the tradition well
dragonweyr44 I feel like it’s symbolic of the fact that even though Astrid is married to Hiccup, marriage hasn't changed who she is at her core. It also symbolizes her generN's split from tradition.
I really like how thier relationship developed. How they grew together and helped eachother. Its an animated dipiction of how a real life realastionship can grow.
I love the way you describe their relationship through the third movie. It makes more sense now, seeing what the writers were going for, than when I first saw it. I love Hiccstrid!
"Astrid is a very strong-willed, independent character who defines herself on her own terms. Early on in the story, Gobber suggests Hiccup and Astrid should stop stirring up trouble, making enemies, and saving dragons. Instead, they should stay home and rule like a proper royal couple, which means getting married. She bristles at that idea, though we later discover that she wants to get married but doesn't think Hiccup's ready. And she's right. Hiccup has lost so much, including his father. He is afraid of change. He focuses on Toothless as a security blanket and won't let go of the idea that coexistence with dragons is possible. Astrid points out that bringing the dragons back to Berk is not working. Hiccup's solution is to move somewhere else, but she understands they might be doing something wrong and maybe the dragons need to return to the wild. It's as issue they need to resolve before they can move on with their relationship" Dean DeBlois, Writer, Director, Executive Producer "...Her belief in him makes him realize that he's been focused on the wrong partner all along." They are, like, by far THE BEST written animated couple ever!!!! The sheer growth they both go through the movies/show is amazing. I´ll always cry at the wedding scene
Honestly, Hiccstrid is the most developed couple I have ever seen in an animated movie. It wasn't just they meet fall in love and get married in the first movie their relationship was built over a course of several years (3 movies and 3 tv shows to be exact) and they didn't just have all the lovey-dovey gross stuff we see them joking and playing and occasionally having a light disagreement like a real couple.
I've been engaged now for 3 years now and my fiancee and I could relate completely to Hiccup and Astrid's relationship which has been extremely helpful in figuring out our situation.
What I liked about this video is the explanation of Tuffnut's advice and words to Hiccup. He came off as comedic, but I didn't know there was an underlying seriousness to it. Thank you ~!
Great video Isaac!!! One of the best trilogies ever. Hiccup and Astrid are an amazing couple who we get to watch grow and bond together. They are truly perfect for each other.

“So What are you gonna do about it?”
“Probably Something stupid”
My exact response when my friends ask the same question to me
His whole face is iconic why am I crushing 🤧
When Hiccups mom mentioned what was ‘wrong’ with him and how he feels the need to lead alone because of his dad broke my heart akdjakjdakkd

10:17 Astrid is still wearing a Viking cranson when she, Hiccup and their children go to visit Toothless and the other dragons at the end of the movie though, but why?
dragonweyr44 it was probably just her style of choice and like worso said she wore it daily so either she or all of berk didn’t follow the tradition well
@@queeneon But Watso said it was the tradition for UNMARRIED women, not married
@@dragonweyr44 he also said Berk doesnt stick to it a lot however. he also said its worn during special occasions.
@@arachnesakura9375 By unmarried women, then they're passed on to their daughters
Astrid's daughter is wearing one
dragonweyr44 I feel like it’s symbolic of the fact that even though Astrid is married to Hiccup, marriage hasn't changed who she is at her core. It also symbolizes her generN's split from tradition.
i love how Astrid just plays with his hair and he still lets her, so cute
The background music is killing me 😭😭 it’s the romantic flight sound track from the first movie I’m so 😭😭😭
Background music for this movie was magical!
Same!!!
Ya
Me: watching there wedding scene.
My mind: realizing that it was there last kiss on screen.
Their marriage called me lonely in so many different ways ;-;
It's as issue they need to resolve before they can move on with their relationship"
Dean DeBlois, Writer, Director, Executive Producer
"...Her belief in him makes him realize that he's been focused on the wrong partner all along."
Dean DeBlois
Trust me, relationships are nothing but pain and misery
~Hiccup 2019
"Listen, I've been watching the way you walk. Lose the limp. No one's gonna marry that."
"I have a prosthetic leg!"
Gets me every time! XD
a tiny correction :) Astrid's headband is a Krans, the -en ending is the nordic equivalent of the suffix "the" :) otherwise, you're spot on! :D
Anyone else realized hiccup and astrid had some what loved eachother for 6 years
Me: *has heart attack and needs to be taken to ER*
Doctors: she’s a fan girl isn’t she
Anybody who knows me: *nods head* yup don’t even know why we took her here
They are, like, by far THE BEST written animated couple ever!!!!
I've been engaged now for 3 years now and my fiancee and I could relate completely to Hiccup and Astrid's relationship which has been extremely helpful in figuring out our situation.
it's weird cause I dunno about everyone else but when I first saw the first HTTYD movie I kinda knew those two would end up together
Everyone with a brain knew
@@victhegamer2004 well my brain was shut off when I first watched it sooo

"lose the limp, no one is gonna marry that"
Lara Gonzales I thought he said lips...then I wondered how Tuffnut know how hiccups lips feel like
BabyBeach :P WTF?!!😂😂😂
Hiccup and Astrid are sooo perfect for each other, my otp!! ❤❤❤
Astrid and Hiccup are among my top 5 Dreamworks couples!
I hope shrek and Fiona are on that list
@@rawwdyrichh3741 Shrek and Fiona are #1 and Astrid and Hiccup are #2!
Astrid:"What are you going to do?"
Hiccup:"Probably something stupid"
Astrid:"That's the Hiccup I know"
At least Hiccup can admit he does stupid stuff
I finally stopped dragging my feet and watched this movie because I saw your videos in my recommendations. Definitely worth the time.
I like the way hiccup talks
He’s sounds like he has peanut butter on the roof a his mouth
How to train your dragon has been one of me and my brother's favorite movies
I seriously need to watch these movies. I got all teary eyed seeing how cute this relationship is!
Iv heard someone speculate if Cassandra's Biological father was the Captian of the Guards. And even Gothel leading Him to the her Cotage wasn't an accident
NGL this is the best analytic of How to train your dragon EVER period
Wish the shows would have shown & told More about Astrid's parents and siblings if any. Where else did she draw her strenghts from outside of Hiccup. Besides if would have been cool to see Astrid interact with her mom&dad!
Please talk about the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon special that's going to be on NBC on December 3rd about snoggletog because Hiccup's family is going to be in it and I cannot wait! I"m so excited!
This is the true love story of hiccstrid❤😘
Since IllumiNations ended a while ago, I think a vid about its history and meaning would be nice
I’m gonna be honest I cried at this
My husband and I rented the 3rd movie shortly after getting married. The jabs they take at marriage were perfect for our dynamic. As you talked more and more, it definitely is a reflection of mine and my husband’s relationship
It was in this vid that I noticed like Toothless and the Light Fury, Hiccup has green eyes while Astrid's are blue 💚💙
I'm happy those two got married and started a family!
Please do Audrey' S Full Story and Ben's Full Story.

Me, a pagan: HaNdFaStInG
I'm pagan and seeing their wedding made me tear up a bit. I've only ever seen church weddings in cartoons
Cindy oreolover Ah! Yes, me too. It made me really happy to see this in the movie
I’d love to practice paganism one day, but with my mothers understandable hatred (my aunt who badly hurt her brother was a pagen) I can’t
Laural Kelley Oh heck. I’m so sorry to hear about what your aunt did, and I disagree with what she did as well. Paganism definitely isn’t for everyone, but I’d definitely recommend looking into it one day when you’re older. Even if you don’t want to practice it then, it’s still really cool to learn about!
As a druid I was also super happy to see that
Please do Dipper And Mabel Pine's Full Story.
Or he could do what Stan and Ford were doing in the Artic.
I want to see the marriage of Isaac and cheese, you’re from Wisconsin right
I’m so glad to see them get married but this really saddens me cuz toothless and stormfly and other dragons didn’t get to see them get married🥺🥺😭😭
The music is just everything
Everytime I hear it I just feel a mixture of happy and sad
The only ost that makes me feel that
That thumbnail though!
I agree but I'm not sure if I agree on the word "realistic" or the word "natural" maybe ESPECIALLY the word natural because sense is love is basically all about whether it feels "natural" or not to other people
@@monabohamad2242 I think you're missing my point. ;) Most fictional characters are just super physical and all "I love you" all the time. There's actual growth, banter, and friendship with these two. :D The focus is never on their relationship, it's just an extra thing, which is nice. :D Dunno if that clears up my point, but you know :P
@@monabohamad2242 I also meant "natural" in their development. It doesn't feel forced, the development of their feelings gives off a more real-life kind of feel. To me, anyway :D
I also don't really agree on this couple being basically my favorite couple ever maybe more like my 2nd favorite couple I just kinda hate how people brag about something feeling "forced" it's not that it's actually mentioned here but seriously why do some people talk like all that basically matters id whether a relationship feels supposedly forced or not?
isn't there ANYTHING else that matters?
@@monabohamad2242 Well good thing I never said that was ALL that mattered to me ;) I love many things about them. They're my favorite, but obviously don't have to be your favorite. :)
Please make a video about Astrid and Stormfly's relationship 😍😍😍😍
Yh just casually watching ur collection behind you
Really impressive 👏👍
Hiccup and Astrid's love just called me single in 15 different languages
Hiccup and Astrid are probably the best fictional couple I've ever seen! It is clear that they work well together and are ready to support each other through anything. And because of that, their kids and New Berk will turn out great!:)
Side note: did anyone else hear the news about the How To Train Your Dragon section being added to Universal in Orlando?
*taking part of sacrifices as he said that with a smile on his face*
omg... literally first time being this early
Tuffnut: Is she made of sky 🤣
This made me cry because this was the first movie I saw in a theater this video made me very sad the my favorite movie as a young child and now kids won't know this great story.
The only time we see Astrid’s parents in the trilogy, well, at least their backs
Astrid and hiccup: have a beautiful relationship
Me who is physically unable to get a girlfriend: ima pretend I never seen this
Hiccup and Astrids Relationship is what a Relationship should look like. Being supportive to each others and looking naturale
This animated comedy movie for kids does romance far better than any expensive TV show or movie made today for adults.
While you where talking I was looking at ALL THE FUNKO POPS AND MILLIONS OF OTHER STUFF IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!
Fantastic work once again! Keep up the great work on these videos, especially of How to Train Your Dragon! Hiccstrid for life!
I love this couple so much I hope my future relationship is like this ❤️

I love ur videos and how to train your dragon 🐉 keep up the great work and love ur funko pops
Glad to see people still care about this series
I’ll be having HTTYD marathons until death!!
BTW the marathons will include all 3 movies, every special short, and all the tv shows, watched in order!

Atta boy, Isaac. Way to crush it in another video.
I was very much into this but I almost had a stroke when he pronounced Gothi wrong, haha
I love the fact that gobber says "marry him please you're the only one that has any sense "
I am in love with anything to do with Hiccup and Astrid!
if you guys like httyd, you should watch tales of arcadia! it’s an amazing trilogy made by dreamworks :). jim and claire have the same amount of love for each other as hiccup and astrid do and they’re so sweet

Astrid's wearing another band at the end of the movie
9:03 in the background lol its his daughter
Thx to your time stamp I just noticed it yes!
Its not their daughter in Httyd: Homecoming their daughter was 8 years old I think and Homecoming was set like 10 years later. And the marriage was set 10 years before Homecoming. If that was their daughter their daughter would've been 18 years old in Homecoming. So no its not their daughter

Either she's a late bloomer or someone accidentally used the wrong child asset.
"JERRY! YOU PUT THEIR DAUGHTER IN THE WEDDING SCENE! Make a christmas special that does/doesn't mess with the timeline to distract people!" And that is how we got HTTYD:Homecoming
