There's a lot of these parallels in the movie if you really sit and wonder. It starts with dragons being hunted. Now it starts with them hunting for trapped dragons. Hiccup finds Toothless. Toothless finds the Light Fury. Hiccup draws toothless. Toothless draws the light fury. Hiccup gave toothless flight for their blooming friendship and their goodbye; toothless took that and used it for his courtship. The hand to snoot and hand off snoot. And kinda a shot int he dark but also the end, where their friendship doesn't necessarily end, but their distance returns to far away (as originally toothless was never near hiccup due to being wild-then turned domestic) Its because of all these that the idea of "growing up" and/or "flying on your own" is better passed on in the film.
He wasn't expecting thor's mighty hammer to meet snotlout's paper jaw... which is weird because hiccup is a blacksmith, and holds onto Toothless who can move at mach speeds... and is the son of stoic... those genes had to go somewhere. oh... and he's left handed

Literally, we saw Hiccup had a crush on Astrid from the start but they were by no means close - heck, she would've been ashamed to call Hiccup so much as an acquaintance at that point. To go from that to seeing them married after three movies is no easy film-making achievement. But oh my Lord, they nailed it.

Astrid knew she and Hiccup wasn't ready to get married especially when 1 of the viking rules is that the chief and chieftess must produce an heir after the wedding as tradition goes so who can blame astrid for wanting to enjoy life a bit more. Astrid learned throughout the film how to support Hiccup the way a wife supports her husband without even realising it then at the wedding she gave Hiccup a small nod to show him she is ready to be his wife. We can all learn from their relationship no its not perfect but they trust, love and believe in each other.

Women were also called Valkyrjar (destined for Fólkvangr/Freyja's hall). Its were the term Valkyrie came from.
Proof that a movie adaptation of a book doesn't need to be entirely accurate to the source material to be good. I'm so tired of people complaining when one single scene or plot point is changed in an adaptation.
These really were the best family films ever made. It was all simple enough for me to watch, understand, and enjoy as a little kid and now as a teenager it is still so amazing. The plot, the characters, the animations, none of it is annoying or cringy like most kids shows. Also dragons race to the edge filled in so much backstory and I love it to this day.
The speech hiccup giveS during the final scene of the movie is actually taken from the books, a subtle nod to the origin of these stories, beautifully done

Is so rare to see a franchise ending in such a good way and not just ending perfectly but adapting to the age of its audience, I watched first when I was 12 years old, just finished watching the last one with 22 years old now, and Damm, I enjoy every minute of it (lol, 10 years to finished the trilogy and Damm it was worth it) nice movie, I will force my children (if get the chance to have them that's it ;-;) to watch it one day, and so I will do with my grandchildren XD

A lot changed in the way the plot went. Originally, the idea that the dragons should leave the Vikings was presented VERY early on, and Hiccup was extremely against even the possiblity. I guess they didn't get rid of everything from that line of plot.
I didn't like this movie as much as the other two because if you summarize this movie after years of not watching it, you'll kinda just think about *"toothless gets a girlfriend and hiccup becomes sad about it"* compared to the first where *"hiccup tries to prove that he's also a viking in his own way"* or the second where *"hiccup meets his mom and joins forces with her to protect the dragons."*

man idc about the ppl giving this third movie shit i still loved it so much it was such a good ending to the trilogy. It might not have lived up to its prequels, but its concluded hiccup's story for all of us.
I really liked this movie, but there are two parts that I really disliked. For one, I don't like how casually Hiccup addresses the enemy guard at the begining. He seems way too friendly towards the guy who is part of an army trying to take over the world and enslave all dragons, its played up for laughs but I don't think it fits the tone. Second, I don't like they replaced Hiccup's voice over narration with him talking to the dragons like he's a realtor. I know that most of the domesticated dragons are partially intelligent enough to understand their human counterparts, but most of the dragons he's speaking to were either wild or in captivity by people who wouldn't speak to them like intelligent creatures. Hiccup talking to all of them like he's pitching a luxury hotel is immersion breaking and a little too silly for my taste. Like I said, the rest of the movie is great. But these two scenes seem to only exist for exposition, which isn't always a bad thing, but you have to do it right. It unfortunately doesn't do it right here, if you want a good example of exposition check out the "that nobody is John Wick!" Scene from John Wick.
When HTTYD 1 came out, I was 15 and saw it in theater with my family. We were all quiet leaving the theater until my 6 year old little brother shouted out "The dinosaur movie was AWESOME!" After a long drive home discussion what the difference was between dragons and dinosaurs was, we agreed that we would watch it over and over again. This is 2022 now and I have made anyone who considers me a friend watch it because, the [dragon] movie is awesome.
I once actually edited httyd3 to have a completely different ending. It goes from right before the dragons leave (so they dont) to the wedding, and then skips the boat scene with the toothless reunion (cuz he never left) right to flying with the kids. A happy ending, since I hated the actual ending.

A lot changed in the way the plot went. Originally, the idea that the dragons should leave the Vikings was presented VERY early on, and Hiccup was extremely against even the possiblity. I guess they didn't get rid of everything from that line of plot.
I didn't like this movie as much as the other two because if you summarize this movie after years of not watching it, you'll kinda just think about *"toothless gets a girlfriend and hiccup becomes sad about it"* compared to the first where *"hiccup tries to prove that he's also a viking in his own way"* or the second where *"hiccup meets his mom and joins forces with her to protect the dragons."*
@@frostycap I'd say it's more on the lines of "Hiccup learns to let go of his best friend for his own sake," but I also get where you're coming from.
i agree dude the third movie crashes the whole concept of friendship and togehterness which was the main theme throughout movie one and two. It's really disappointing :/

Adult hiccup with his man beard just makes me fall in love with him more, he's a character I literally had watched from the first film and can relate a lot, hence my childhood crush on him, and seeing him grown as full man, I just... Man... Im so proud of him

I really liked this movie, but there are two parts that I really disliked. For one, I don't like how casually Hiccup addresses the enemy guard at the begining. He seems way too friendly towards the guy who is part of an army trying to take over the world and enslave all dragons, its played up for laughs but I don't think it fits the tone. Second, I don't like they replaced Hiccup's voice over narration with him talking to the dragons like he's a realtor. I know that most of the domesticated dragons are partially intelligent enough to understand their human counterparts, but most of the dragons he's speaking to were either wild or in captivity by people who wouldn't speak to them like intelligent creatures. Hiccup talking to all of them like he's pitching a luxury hotel is immersion breaking and a little too silly for my taste. Like I said, the rest of the movie is great. But these two scenes seem to only exist for exposition, which isn't always a bad thing, but you have to do it right. It unfortunately doesn't do it right here, if you want a good example of exposition check out the "that nobody is John Wick!" Scene from John Wick.

When HTTYD 1 came out, I was 15 and saw it in theater with my family. We were all quiet leaving the theater until my 6 year old little brother shouted out "The dinosaur movie was AWESOME!" After a long drive home discussion what the difference was between dragons and dinosaurs was, we agreed that we would watch it over and over again. This is 2022 now and I have made anyone who considers me a friend watch it because, the [dragon] movie is awesome.

I once actually edited httyd3 to have a completely different ending. It goes from right before the dragons leave (so they dont) to the wedding, and then skips the boat scene with the toothless reunion (cuz he never left) right to flying with the kids.
A happy ending, since I hated the actual ending.
