Crazy thing about that atomic bomb my grandma still remembers white dust like snow falling from the sky and people playing with it. The worst part is radiation poisioning is causing long term health issues in my country. Birth defects, thyroid cancer, etc... Until today there are certain fish in the outer islands of Marshall your not allowed to eat due to this. People lost their homes, their identies and were moved to other islands that were smaller and more crowded.

I wish he would have talked about Ebeye. That place is full of the descendents of displaced ri-Majel who can't go home. Ebeye has no trees, hardly any fresh water, and it is SO crowded. Meanwhile the Americans have golf courses and luxury housing just a short boat ride away.

John Kad there aren’t any restaurants that I know of, but they do have a pretty close knit community and most that I know speak their language. They have a few churches around town and they all seem to know each other (or know of each other) I’m not sure why Springdale Arkansas has such a large population but I remember a history teacher I had asking one of the students why their family chose to live in Springdale, the student shrugged and just said “most of our family lives here”

    • @emilysargent8247

John Kad there’s so many in Springdale (where I live) because a preacher went to the islands, and after converting many people, brought them back here. Now even more people continue to immigrate here because their families are here. They have a huge community, and are a big part of Springdale culture :) I consider myself honored to be so well acquainted with a country a lot of the US knows nothing about

Don't be upset if they do not know where the Marshall Islands' location on the globe. You see, After more than ten years of their testing, their own government decided to eliminate these two school learning subjects of geography and history from their own educational curriculum to hide their lies and destruction set upon the innocent people, their land, and the ocean. The history of the nuclear bomb has two sides to the same story and if they know the one side by the bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nakasaki, while they don't have any clue about the Marshall Islands, that is obvious.

I just came back from a trip to the Marshall Islands. The highlight was my stay on a deserted islet away from DUD. Beautiful beaches and good snorkelling there. A couple of things the government really urgently needs to do: fix up the parliament building so its structure is sound and it can be usable, and conduct a neutering programme for stray dogs, which are a problem for people walking along the street risking getting bitten. Such a programme has been carried out in the Cook Islands and has been very successful.

Fun fact a majority of Marshall Islanders are living in Arkansas. They are relocated to the Arkansas because of the radiation from the US testing. So Arkansas has a huge Vietnamese population from refugees from the Vietnam War and Marshall Islanders because of radiation.

Great vid, as usual! Just a little correction regarding atolls, because they're awesome and you should totally talk about this in a later video (there's got to be some atoll nations left). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atoll#Formation
Most atolls aren't un-breached volcano rims, but coral structures that formed around the perimeter of a volcano which did breach the surface and form a rocky island. The volcano is riding on oceanic crust, which moves like a conveyor belt away from mid-ocean rifts, and as that crust ages it cools, contracts, and sinks deeper below the ocean surface, taking the volcano down with it. While the volcano is growing, it easily outgrows this sinking, but when it becomes extinct it returns below the water. The coral reef continues to grow during this process, however, and eventually a ring of coral and some sand is all that remains at the surface! For more on this topic, I recommend the documentary South Pacific, episode 4: Ocean of Volcanoes; it's on Netflix now!
