MOTORHOME POWER FAILURE - We lost all 12v power.

- In this video we lose our 12v power supply which meant that, despite being on EHU we lost all lights, fridge and heating leaving only our 240v sockets still live. We struggled initially to diagnose the problem, but with the help of Ollyvan and a phone call to Bluefix Energy Solutions and a technician from Apuljack Electronics we did eventually 'almost' solve the problem. Not before two very cold dark nights though.
Overall it took a 5 hour round trip to exchange our Electroblock and lots of fiddling with the cabling system.
Oh. we also upgraded our van to the Gaslow system so we now have refillable LPG tanks.
This is episode 108 in a series of videos cataloguing our post retirement adventures. We are Kath and Sue and we are travelling the UK with our two dogs Archie and Fudge and living full time in our Burstner Elegance Motorhome. We have given up conventional living for a new van-life, enjoying the freedom of the road and plenty of time outdoors taking in the beautiful countryside the UK has to offer.
Prayers that things will be smoother for awhile . Stay safe and warm . Blessings 🙏🙏
Thank you 🙏 🤗🚌❤️
Why are the biggest problems always caused by the tiniest things? I remember when we were living in our touring caravan in Germany we had temperatures as low as -17 for 6 weeks, it was the worst the area had experienced for over 25 years but, like you, we survived. Glad you are all sorted and back on with your adventures. 🎉🎉
Thank you. Makes our minus 4 sound positively tropical. Glad you survived. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
So glad you managed to get your home sorted.
Look forward to your next vlog. X
Thank you. We are definitely more comfortable again. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
lovely to meet you today, and I've subscribed so I'm looking forward to starting from the beginning! All the best, George
Thank you. Hope we don’t disappoint and you will enjoy travelling along with us. Still feel like a UA-cam novice, but it’s fun making the videos. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
Very well done, I know we carry a multimeter but I’m ashamed to say I just leave it to my husband. I’ll get him to show me next time he uses it.
We love our Gaslow system, it seems to last forever ! We don’t live in our van but we do long 4/5 week trips and have never run anything close to empty.
🤣🤣🤣I think leaving it to your husband is a good plan. We are already noticing a big difference with Gaslow. Wish I done it sooner. Happy travels. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
I live in Burnham on Sea and never hear of Apuljack electronics , so thanks for the heads up if I need them 😊 hope your all sorted 🤞🤞
They were recommended and definitely lived up to expectations. We are all sorted thanks. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
I’m happy you got everything sorted out, I could feel how cold it was in the camper. :)
🤣🥶thankfully we are warm again. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
@@MotorhomeMums Thank goodness for that 🔥
I hate being cold 🥶 😩
Great info, some useful contacts!
Thank you. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
I feel your pain. My diesel heater packed up last Wednesday and it was -1c indoors when I woke up. I tried to fix it but got nowhere. I went home because my dog is arthritic but the site have credited me for the cancelled nights. My mans on it now and my vans in bits. There’s always something. Here’s looking forward to four weeks in Ireland in April. Love your videos.
Oh no!! Hope you get it fixed. At least it should be warmer by the time we get to April. Hope you enjoy Ireland. That’s on our list but haven’t been there yet. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
Useful stuff, good to see Paul and Sam in your movies too :-)
My heros. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
Glad it all worked out for you both😊all the best xx
Thank you. All toasty warm again. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
Not boring it's life as it happens
🤣🤣that’s for sure. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
Definitely gaslow worth it. We had ours fitted back in 2017 never looked back xx
Yes. I wish I’d done it sooner. Would have saved a fortune. 👍🤗🚌❤️
@@MotorhomeMums definitely would have saved a fortune. X
So hard trying to diagnose anything electrical in a motorhome, hopefully you will now be free of niggles for a while, gaslow will definitely pay for itself quickly, safe trouble free travels 👍👊🥰🚌🏴
Especially hard if you leave the plastic top on the end of the probe!!! 🤣🤣 Already noticing a big difference in gas and so far no problems finding it. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
@@MotorhomeMums great stuff Kath, multi meters are very confusing to me no matter how many times I’ve seen videos on them lol👊👍🚌🥰
That’s great to hear you’re now almost fully functional (hopefully by now the tv/aerial is all working?!) and you’re snug in your van. Hopefully Archie was keeping nice and cozy in his bed while the chaos worked away?! What a good boy he was. If that was Sasha she would’ve been trying to leap on them to get their attention but Archie’s much too sensible for that! We’ve had some problems with our 12 volt system recently and I’m very keen to have reassurance as much as is possible that all is working as it should before our early summer trip to 🏴! Thank you for sharing the info re the company in WSM. That’s pretty much our nearest seaside from home in somerset. You’d have been very welcome to stop by if we’d known and warm up for a couple of nights! We keep a little oil heater in our van (at only 6m it works a treat for us) If your 240 sockets were still functioning that might’ve helped take the chill off the van. Do you carry any spare heaters? Anyway, hope you’re having a more fun travel time now. Safe travels. Xx
Awww thank you. That’s very kind of you. And yes thank you all working well now although we know it’s only a matter of time before the next drama. Always something with a Motorhome. Stops life getting boring. Hope you get your 12v sorted too and reassurance needed. Happy travels. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
@@MotorhomeMumsyou’re right! Always something-we thought when we bought a brand new van (10 years ago + now!) we’d get less but NO! The opposite tbh!!!! Still we are always up for adventures! But being cold is a bit miserable especially with our mobility probs! We are enjoying catching up with the Wareham forest video….somewhere for a little spring break we think 👍🙏 Take care all of you! BTW Archie is such a good boy getting into his buggy when he needs it but soldiering on as long as he is able to-he reminds us of our lovely Sapphi-Sky who ran about despite her dislocated hip replacement for 5 years. They are inspirational aren’t they?🐶😍
@@Anna-ib3xb so true. They never moan. 🐕🦺🤗
Most interesting video, Kath. If you had a EHU couldn't you have used a fan heater to keep warm? So pleased things have been sorted and the dogs are now warm 😂. Happy travels and stay safe ❤
You are spot on. We should get one as a back up just in case. Thank you and you too. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
Glad you’ve got everything sorted, typical that things go wrong on one of the coldest times of the year!
I know. We couldn’t have timed it better. Never mind all sorted now and back to cosy. 🙏🤗🚌❤️
Please, please, please take away the background music when you are talking, I really struggle to actually hear what you are saying.
Thanks for the feedback. I still struggle to get the balance right between music and talking so any feedback helps. 🙏
