I really enjoyed watching this vlog Tim. It’s nice to see inside a hotel that you only hope to visit one day. Would be nice if you could do others one day? I’ve always wanted to see and hopefully stay one day at the Dorchester hotel..
My great auntie lived at the Ritz the last 15 years of her life. She was a classical musician and much of her work was in Hollywood and at Pinewood Studios. Her husband was in the navy but he died soon after the Suez Crisis. During her dotage, her children took turns to take her to the theatre and opera at least twice a week. She was from another age and extremely glamorous and her husband a very handsome career naval officer. Both had brains and came from a poor lower middle class family of teachers and civil servants.
@@PC-vg8vn yes, she was very rich and her great grandchildren are also wealthy. She made a lot of money and even gave a flat to grandmother who was her favourite neice. When my brother and I inherited the flat; we used the money from selling it to pay the deposits on our houses and its benefiting my brother's kids who live in a nice area he couldn't afford without his inheritance. Family is incredibly important.
The way you said "you're doing a great job" to the maid tells me a lot about you. Glad your channel is blowing up. Genius that you get to stay in top hotels and write it off as a business expense.

@@peggymaihafer6097 Being UA-cam, I obviously don't know where you are from, but here in the UK, it is perfectly normal for guests in any well run establishment to stop and say a few words to staff. Our late Queen and particularly her mother were renowned for it.
I love the Ritz I worked for the Ritz Carlton Pasadena California. That hotel is very 1920s 30s 40s. If you stay at a hotel like the Ritz, it should make you feel like a throwback to when people actually had manners etiquette and civility. It’s lovely that there’s a place still around that you can dress up dress for the occasion and be treated like a gentleman and lady. We used to have to say we are ladies and gentlemen treating ladies and gentlemen. The stool when you went to the dining table is for the woman’s purse. Thank you for sharing your experience. And it is important for you to kindly tell the front desk about what you found in the tub or whatever else might have been out of place because it is greatly appreciated. I hope you had a marvelous time and we’re happy to have an experience where you were treated with respect and dignity.
@happyhour1517 there really wasn't much respect nor civility back in the 1930's especially in the UK - the grinding poverty of most of London, the economic chaos of the wall street crash & the rise of fascism.
I think the Ritz being old-school is its main draw -- classic charm and elegance that is sorely lacking in today's world. I too would love to experience a stay at this hotel if I had the money to not have to think about money. Thanks for taking us along!
Staying at The Ritz is an experience. The staff are the best I've ever experienced. I laughed when you referred to the furniture as "old". It is perfect for such an elegant setting. The dining room is exquisite, and seeing you served my favourite Beef Wellington gained you brownie points. I'll take the Ritz, over a modern hotel, every time.
Well l thought l was there with you, thankyou, l agree with you that it should include breakfast and tea , for the price that's the least l,d expect. Looking forward to the next one 😂
Bring Gabby along more often. I really enjoy the two of you together. She's beautiful, and Casper is adorable. Children are such a blessing, i wish more parents realized that.
Hey Tim, I was lucky enough to stay in the ritz 2005. I won a competition with first direct & we had a package of dinner, 1 night stay & 2 x ticket for west end show (choose phantom Of the opera) and finally breakfast. We arrived on time and advised our room wasn’t ready, we were Directed to the bar and it was £7.50 for half a pint(turns out complimentary) then the manger approached us to say that our room was double booked & offered us an upgrade of £1400 suite room per night! I questioned it as I thought they were trying to charge us more, but it was complimentary as the room wasn’t ready/double booked. The suite was bigger than our bungalow(at the time) and it had new lcd tvs in the kitchen, bathroom and living room. The service and friendliness was second to none. Thank you for sharing the memories 👍🏻
@@who-gives-a-toss_Bear I have wondered this many times. They have either messed up big time or decided they had space and that day in 2005 was our lucky day 👍🏻
The little bench placed next to the ladies’ chair in the restaurant is for her handbag. Found that out last year at the Gritti Palace in Venice (which should be on your go to list!)
Oh my - I'm surprised the P.C brigade haven't complained about the bench being too "gender specific" as the men might feel excluded not having one for their handbags too. 😂😂😂
I stayed in exactly the same suite with my wife back in 2022, we stayed there for 3 days over our wedding anniversary. We’ve stayed in some great hotels around the world like the Raffles in Singapore, and the Ritz just didn’t quite meet that sort of standard. We did breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner, all was lovely and it is definitely an experience; the thing I hated was there was no tea or coffee in the rooms so it cost £8 to order two teas from downstairs, not happy, the least they could’ve done was butler service and complimentary tea of coffee.
I stayed in a Days Inn recently with a giant, fancy Keurig with a huge assortment of coffee and tea k cups with sugar and cream. 100 bucks a night. 50 inch TV too 😅
Absolutely! That would have been true class since it is such an amazing place. Love this historical landmark with so much old world charm...timeless elegance.
When I was in my mid-20's I was a nanny & I stayed there at the Ritz with my family. (35yrs ago) The kids & I had 2 rooms & the parents - a separate suite. I thought the staff were so lovely - they actually took a lot of the 'nick-nacks' out of the room (my request), supplied a vhs video player & kids videos, snacks, there was a bath & toys, free pass to the London Zoo, etc. We were there for a week! Don't know how much it was, but had a memorable stay. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤ ps: tell Gabby she looked just gorgeous. ❤❤
I was born in San Francisco in the 1950s. I used to love going to posh hotels for elegant dinners or Easter and Mother’s Day brunches with my grandparents. It was heavenly to me.
Just celebrated my 37 anniversary! I love how you and your very lovely wife did this video together! Couldn’t find a better place to stay! That hotel is beautiful! I loved the special attention you all received and what a beautiful place to be!
I stayed here back in the early 80’s. Was a lovely experience. Just a small tip… always ask for a quiet room. Also when you’re making your reservation ask if the hotel is having any renovations done. A room near the lift is also asking for a sleepless night.
My jaw dropped at the cost, it's very much on the pricey side of things, especially for just 1 night, however the service appeared to be immaculate, with the personal touches too it must of been an experience never to forget.
Just came across your channel and this is my first time watching your video. My thought was exactly what you said "i feel like im on the titanic" it has tanic vibes and i absolutely love it. I think us being from poorer backgrounds we can appreciate so much all tge staffs kindness and helpfulness going above and beyond, whereas being richer you dont really appreciate the little things! Definitely going to binge watch your vids 😌
We're stayed two nights recently in room 506, facing Piccadilly like yours was. I was amazed the windows weren't triple glazed because the noise from the road echoes right up from the buildings opposite, especially if a performance car or bike is having its leg's stretched, or if the police are on their way somewhere. We thought the room was a bit tired tbh, and not up to the standard of Claridge's. The star of the show at the Ritz is undoubtedly the restaurant/dining room. The decor, the food (I too had the Beef Wellington - stunning) and the military precision of the dining room staff was something to behold. That little stool btw, is for the ladies to put their handbags on.
I think the furnishings are classic rather than 90s totally appropriate for a classy hotel and really homely. In fact a friend has just bought a sofa minus fringe very similar to the blue and white one. Smelling smoke would not be something I would be impressed with at all.
The housekeeping is beyond supreme and the best kept secret of the RITZ is definitely the staff, they are just wonderful. One of my bosses had us for dinner at the RITZ for a Christmas dinner and the place blew us all away, the staff were friendly ,not at all snobby even though they knew it was our boss who was footing the bill, and we explored every toilet, bar and chair in the place .The food was superb as was the service and again the staff were and are supreme. Even as |I go to work each morning on my little leg propelled scooter the door men all wave and have done so for many years. If I had the dosh yes I would stay,it all feels homely and "posh" and the staff again make the visit.
Hey Tim, a good tip for booking these types of hotels would be to book through a virtuoso affiliated travel agent. They get you VIP perks like free upgrades, breakfast, and hotel credit. All at the same price as booking directly with the hotel.
I have never heard the term “virtuoso travel agent”. I am assuming that is the same as an accredited travel agent. Correct?

@@robertabrahams7593 Well I'm not a younger man and I hate collars and ties. I cannot stand anything tight around my neck. I doubt whether women would stand for it either if they were required to dress that way.
The extra lighting is amazing!!! So many older hotels skimp on the lighting. Less lighting can make a room feel sad or depressing. Very impressed with the lighting!
@@ShaunStone-o5uYou can always turn off a few lamps if you don’t like the lights, or unplug some if you need to use the cables. But you can’t add lamps if you need more lighting. The lighting was good. End of.
Nice and layered. It’s an elevated, sophisticated taste level - sorry if that sounds snobby. It’s enriching to gain an appreciation for beautiful things.
Love the London Ritz. I was fortunate enough to have lived in London during the 80’s and 90’s. Afternoon Tea at the Ritz included entertainment on the weekends back in the late 80’s. you had to book way in advance. It was always a fabulous experience. I sure miss those beautiful days. It’s so nice to see the Ritz has maintained the same high standards.
I used to walk past the Ritz a lot when I lived in London and often glanced inside on the way past thinking I must go in and have a look one day and never did so it's fabulous to finally see inside! Another great video, Tim! And congrats on cracking 300,000 subs! Well done!
It's a pity that today people don't appreciate antique or period furniture. Many classic hotels have this problem. It's a great shame that so many would prefer a table bought in Ikea and not an antique piece
firstly, I must say what an absolutely charming family you are, Casper is a delight! I love the double act with yourself and Gabby. Moving onto the Ritz, I am 80 years old, so to me that room brings back many memories, the covers to the glasses used to be more or less standard even in “normal “Hotels. I have watched all the Hotel reviews so far, and I have enjoyed this one the most, probably because it’s more my era. I have left you a modest contribution and recognition of the cost that you spent to bring us this video which I thoroughly enjoyed. I think that you are one of the best channels on UA-cam, the quality of the narration combine with the attention to detail. Plus you seem really nice guys the sort of people that I would like to have as my friends. Thanks again, see you soon, Peter
Peter you sound like a very nice gentleman.. have a wonderful 2024 🙏and Tim another brilliant review.. Thank you and best wishes to you and your lovely family for 2024 🙏
Thanks you shared it. its an amazing experience for me as we see as you see. The way you talk about things in detail without being biased, just the way you feel, its very descent. i admire your being critical. Casper was looking so cute in Gown.
I am envious, what a lovely suite and fabulous service. The price reflects the incredible attention to detail, standard of training and staff to guest ratio, very few hotels would take the trouble to provide a toddler sized robe or baby products in room. The beef wellington looked perfect and delicious. It's fine to ask the restaurant staff about any dish or ingredient you're not familiar with, they will be happy to tell you about them or find out.
Great overview! Brought back memories - I lived in London in the 90's and made sure to have tea at several famous establishments, including The Ritz. I remember being offered teas I'd never before heard of, let alone tasted!
Several years ago I stayed at the Ritz in Madrid for a few weeks. It was a marvelous hotel in every way. The hotel is located across the street from the Prado and my room had french doors that opened to the Prado’s VIP entrance which was interesting. The room had beautiful panelling and Aubusson carpeting that was quite interesting. Every repair was signed by the restorer in the piece. It was a beautiful oriental style that was cushy when walking around on it. It had 2 wardrobes on either side of the bed. The bathroom had a great overhead shower and the bidet water had a pattern coming out which was a nice feature. When I arrived in Madrid a Ritz driver picked me up and took me on a bit of a ride to see some of the area around the hotel. I waited in one of the lobby seating areas and they brought me the equivalent to a High tea. I was exhausted from the overnight flight and hungry. My daughter was living in Madrid at the time in a study abroad program and when she walked in they brought her to me which was just another special touch of the personal service. My daughter wasn’t going to stay with me but changed her mind quickly which amused me. She loved the hotel. We had breakfast every morning and they brought her a small bottle of Heinz Ketchup in a covered silver tray for her potatoes. They missed nothing. Every time I left the hotel they took my key and handed it back to me seamlessly at the door. Generally when I sat in the lobby for any time there was a security person that stood a few feet behind me which was a curiosity. I read somewhere that the hotel had great security and that when Yasser Arafat visited he didn’t need to bring his security detail because the Ritz security was topnotch. One thing I found out by accident was that they don’t allow people to just walk in and look around the hotel. I invited my daughter’s host to dinner at the Ritz while there and didn’t think to mention it to anyone - so we waited and waited in the lobby for her and then my daughter went outside to see if something was wrong the woman was there. I don’t think she had a cell phone with her. The dinner turned out fine - no problem - once I understood the rules. My daughter’s host was also quite impressed with the restaurant - including their olive oil which was a superior quality. They number their oils in Spain - something we don’t do in the US. All in all, it was probably the nicest hotel overall that I ever stayed at because of the extra customer service. The service during the entire stay was the best. There wasn’t one thing I would have changed.
I love the little personal touches like the gifts for Casper, even the chocolate! The price is so much, certainly way out of my budget! 😮 Seems lovely, though - glad you all had a great time! 😊❤
Tim do you think you could pop over to Singapore and check out Raffles Hotel and Marina Bay Sands Hotel. We were in Singapore last month and visited both although we didn't stay, we were in a holiday inn😅
I am not from the UK. I have lived my whole life in Texas but I love Keeping up appearances and Are you being served as well as Allo Allo. British comedy in general. So people outside the UK will get your references too. Keep it up always great vids.
I watched your film with great interest as I have stayed at the Ritz many times and the thing about this Beautiful Hotel is its style from the service to the elegant French furniture I agree it may not be for everyone .....but if you like to stay somewhere that stands out with a touch of class then this is the place ❤
I loved this and I have eaten in the Ritz but never stayed there. My great Grandfather, Thomas Ronald was investor and a partner in the hotel. Living in Brighton, he was Chairman of The Canadian Pacific Railway, and Owner of consolidated fisheries in Grimsby and Swansea. He loved the hotel and decorated his study with pictures of the Ritz.He also had many 'souvenirs' of the Ritz in his home.He would drive in his Daimler Benz, he first car in Brighton to spend time in the hotel.
But you do! A call to room service and it will be yours. The Ritz is too nice to expect its guests to pour their own tea or coffee. (That's not sarcasm)
I don't know if the English will be happy with this or not, but my (I'm American) first experience with British comedy shows was watching Keeping Up Appearances on PBS. That and Red Dwarf are two of my absolute favorites.
@cherylschantz9893 Doctor Who was largely a britian-only thing until the modern Doctor. If OP was watching these from America it makes sense for them to have not seen much Doctor Who.
@@CarolCreates Have done with Are You Being Served (good show) but I will put Rising Damp on my list; I've never heard of that one. Thanks for the suggestions!
Lovely video. I’m not sure the Ritz would be very pleased to have their decor described as 90s, though😅 It’s classic English country house, which often incorporates some floral chintz, with quite an eclectic mix of furniture from different eras. It far predates the 90s, but has always been emulated from those by aspirations, through the ages. I hope you had a lovely time with your wife and son
The Ritz have a small kitchen on each floor. So if you wanted tea or coffee you just had to phone for it and it would arrive in 2-3 minutes (or less). Usually there are twice as many staff as there are guests. It is the best hotel in the UK.
I love the journey you’ve been on from wandering around places like Lowestoft and staying in Britannia Hotels to progressively more and more high end establishments as your channel has grown! One thing though -‘classic’ isn’t ’dated’ or ‘retro’ (which you seem to apply to anything more than 24 months old 😂). Dated implies worn out, unfashionable and well past its best - I somehow doubt the Ritz would thank you!!
Hi mate, I have to confess, I absolutely love your channel and content. You and yellow production are my two favourite travelling channels. Also, your wife is absolutely beautiful. I love her energy. You can't fake that, you have it or you don't, and she does have it. Can't wait to watch more of your videos. All the best.
I know that London is very different from the south coast but I'd recommend The Grand at Eastbourne. Not as exquisite as the Ritz London but for a decadent night with a 5 star service and fresh coastal air at a reasonable price then it's highly advised. Dinner, bed and breakfast and parking is a good deal.
I think £28 for a champagne cocktail is expected at a place like the Ritz. It looks just how I imagine old affluent England was, relaxing evening music and sophistocation. Looks absolutely stunning. Really enjoyed this video. Subbed!!
Imagine being wealthy enough to pay £30 for one drink or a tenner for a cuppa. Even if I won multi millions I wouldn’t want to pay thousands a night for a noisy room that smelt of smoke, I have a great sense of smell too Tim. You and Gaby did a brilliant job of sharing your experience. I just think that for the price of a cup of tea you could feed a person in need of a foodbank for a week. The most interesting thing was the seating arrangement, I wonder why it’s like that? Thank you for this fascinating video.
London hotel costs after plain stupid. Maybe in their heyday they were worth it, but today so there is so much better value in so many other places in the world, like Bali where I am now.
Yeah but the thing is for a lot of these people (business owners) it's a £30 pre-tax expense, meaning if they didn't buy said drink they'd pay taxes on the £30. So it's technically less than that, still ridiculous though.
If you were very wealthy, I would hope you enjoy the lifestyle of your choice, and generously share your wealth with the needy. My friend is very wealthy. Thinks nothing of hiring a plane to fetch me over for the weekend, but I've learned the family donates millions to various needs.
The stool in the restaurant is for a handbag (so you don’t have to put it on the floor). You see them relatively often in “old school” fine dining restaurants.
oh this is a very helpful vlog. thank you for doing this. What I like the most is to give an idea what it looks like inside and an insight of the prices. very informative!!!
In my opinion, I appreciate their preservation on the high quality 19th century cultivated design and amentities in the room. It is a hygentic design without radiation from the electric shockets near the bed. I can deeply feel the history and culture of the U.K. in the hotel. Sometimes, it is boring to live in the modern hotel design which is lack of a sense of humanity.
It’s all about economic mechanism when the price is derived at the equilibrium from the quantity demand and supply. For example, a table for 2 , a fine dining dinner with 2 glasses of wine in central London for £300 sth is an average price. Nothing to be surprised when they always have demand. You will get used to this crazy phenomenon if you live in the Central London. The reality is quite cruel.
Tim, I so truly enjoyed your family stay at the Ritz. Your son was the star of the episode …along with your wife. You have such a beautiful family and all of you deserve to win an award for your honesty and dedication to informing us about all things in travel. What a delightful episode. Thank you for your honesty on the Ritz. The room was beautiful, you both were handsomely dressed and your son’s appearance in his robe was adorable. As a side note: I agree with you on not liking the smoke smell. I’m actually quite surprised that the Ritz is still allowing, smoking, not only in some of their rooms, but even with a cigar bar in the building, which can only leave dreaded musty smell. Cheers and blessings to all three of you.
I'm also surprised they allow this. If they have a cigar lounge, you would think that it would be in a secluded, enclosed and well ventilated area? If they did allow smoking rooms, then why not only have them on a few of the top floors so that the smoke/smell doesn't waft throughout the rest of the hotel? (With the type of demanding guests that they get, I could see them getting a few guests staying in top level suites for longer stays that want to smoke).
I've only recently found your channel - which I love. It's brave to take on a big beast like the Ritz. Well done. In my humble opinion I think videos like this are what UA-cam is about in the current meta. Love the way you've got your wonderful partner commenting. She's whip smart and adds so much to the commentary! You make a great team! Looking forward to your next video.
What a fabulous start in the new year. I had tea there with my aunt who lives in London and while it was expensive back then it was worth it and I still cherish that afternoon with great food, service and piano music. We missed the Queen Mum who was there a few days before us.
@vanessaeden8174 I wondered about that, too. I could never relax at a meal while leaving a toddler alone. I fostered/ adopted several toddlers, and every one of them could climb out of their cribs at around two years of age. Maybe the hotel had a sitting service that wasn't mentioned
@@danhaines That's good to hear. I wish they had included that service, and its cost, in the review. They cataloged so many other, less important details
Loved the reference to Hyacinth! How the other half lives eh?! 👑Personally the sound of sirens all night & London traffic would have me climbing the gilded walls. But you can't deny the Hotel is just like stepping back into the elegant 30s/40s. Nice little touches of presents & extras for Thumps. Have to say Gaby looked absolutely fab...& would defo have had that posh crowd up & dancing if she'd been the cabaret for the evening! Best bits? Got to be Casper doing his little dance in front of the TV & looking so cute in his miniature dressing gown! What a lovely video! x J x
Your toilet incident resonated with me. 😂 years ago I went to an Italian restaurant in Bath called Sotto Sotto, really lovely but priced around the same as a Prezzo but the service was insane! There were so many waiters and they weren’t in your face but always attentive and always topping up drinks. I asked one where the toilet was and with a “of course, this way sir, follow me”, he escorted me to the single disabled toilet, with every other waiter nodding and acknowledging me as I passed by. I used the facilities, stepped outside and found the waiter had been waiting outside the entire time to then escort me back to my seat (all the nods again from the other staff) and tuck me back in- including placing my napkin back on my lap. It was hilarious! 20:57

The Ritz is shortly to undergo a huge renovation, including extending the hotel along Arlington Street and an enormous spa area in the basement. This will bring it into line with London’s other luxury hotels where the competition is more fierce than in any other city on earth.

Loved your review. I just spent 9 nights at the Ritz Carlton in Naples, FL. My total bill (lunches only) was $6,000. This includes all the beach services in front of the hotel directly on The Gulf of Mexico. I did the math: it’s about the same as a 9 day cruise on an upscale cruise ship. I’ve been going to this same hotel since 2016 and it never disappoints. You might try it sometime! All the rooms are newly renovated in a modern, relaxing color palette. Casper will love all the pool options!!
For a once in a lifetime experience, I believe it was worth the money. There's a LOT of history in that hotel so consider yourself now a part of that grand, vast history! Thoroughly enjoyed living vicariously through your Ritz experience! Oh, and Tim, all dressed up in that suit, you looked very much like David Walliams in his younger days!
Good review. With everything being said, I think this is the kind of place you'd enjoy before Christmas. It just has that vibe and I can imagine how beautiful the Christmas decorations would be, central London in the run-up to xmas etc.
The little stool is to put your handbag on. I love the decoration inside in the hotel, it's like going back in time. The room was good also but maybe a little bit too mismatched but it oddly adds to the charm. And what a welcome with all the little gifts, really shows they care!

Stayed there in 2012, had a beautiful two bedroom suite. Love how elegant it all was. Although one thing I wasn’t excited about was the spa. Lovely property with excellent service.
I love reading all the comments. What did your gran do (to be residing at the Ritz)? Are you yourself wealthy? Nosey I know 😅 but it’s really interesting!
Another fine video, thanks. Funny! The small cushion beside your wife at dinner is for her purse or handbag. The first time my wife and I encountered such a thing was at restaurant Daniel in New York City about 15 years ago. At first we were a little dumbstruck, and then we realized the perfect logic of it. Because where else, especially if there are no other chairs at the table, is a lady to set her purse in such an establishment? Here’s another example of our fine dining service that evening: I realized I had forgotten my reading glasses at home. They quickly produced a small tray lined with felt that contained an assortment of handsome reading glasses! I was to choose one that suited my eyes, and I could have it for the rest of the evening.

Hey Tim, I was lucky enough to stay in the ritz 2005. I won a competition with first direct & we had a package of dinner, 1 night stay & 2 x ticket for west end show (choose phantom
Of the opera) and finally breakfast. We arrived on time and advised our room wasn’t ready, we were
Directed to the bar and it was £7.50 for half a pint(turns out complimentary) then the manger approached us to say that our room was double booked & offered us an upgrade of £1400 suite room per night! I questioned it as I thought they were trying to charge us more, but it was complimentary as the room wasn’t ready/double booked. The suite was bigger than our bungalow(at the time) and it had new lcd tvs in the kitchen, bathroom and living room. The service and friendliness was second to none. Thank you for sharing the memories 👍🏻
oh wow .. I bet it looks exactly the same .. yes thinking about the room size its bigger than our downstairs
One would wonder how such a grand establishment as the Ritz could double book a room.
@@who-gives-a-toss_Bear I have wondered this many times. They have either messed up big time or decided they had space and that day in 2005 was our lucky day 👍🏻
@@who-gives-a-toss_Bear Perhaps the previous guest lengthened their stay and the hotel turned it into a win-win.
😅 WOw, awesome!! I had something similar happen to me.. God ..did I enjoy that😍😍😍
I would never leave that room, its classic NOT old fashioned good to see Gabby having a night away with you
TBH, the furnishings of that room look like they came from an old people’s home, or the Trump Tower.
The little bench placed next to the ladies’ chair in the restaurant is for her handbag. Found that out last year at the Gritti Palace in Venice (which should be on your go to list!)
I was wondering if that was its purpose.
I've just googled it .. wow
Not for kneeling when you propose then😂
yes handbag :D
Oh my - I'm surprised the P.C brigade haven't complained about the bench being too "gender specific" as the men might feel excluded not having one for their handbags too. 😂😂😂
Still have my Ritz bath robe. Now 15 years old and still sumptuous ,best souvenir

The Ritz looks stunning, love the fact they have kept that old fashioned posh look. You two have scrubbed up pretty well ❤❤ Gorgeous dress Gaby ❤❤❤
I stayed here back in the early 80’s. Was a lovely experience. Just a small tip… always ask for a quiet room. Also when you’re making your reservation ask if the hotel is having any renovations done. A room near the lift is also asking for a sleepless night.
Sure, I stayed there back in the early 30's. Was a great experience with so many horses in London streets and just few cars....The good old days!

My jaw dropped at the cost, it's very much on the pricey side of things, especially for just 1 night, however the service appeared to be immaculate, with the personal touches too it must of been an experience never to forget.
The staff really are great.
Welcome aboard! Thanks 😊

Well done!

It's like watching Onslow and Daisy at the Ritz😂 Great video.
I LOVE the furniture and classic old hotel vibe! So much better than those modern hotels.

Absolutely
May I cheekily ask you what the price was?
I loved all the thing just for Casper. What a lovely touch!
I love the little personal touches like the gifts for Casper, even the chocolate! The price is so much, certainly way out of my budget! 😮 Seems lovely, though - glad you all had a great time! 😊❤

It’s from smokers in other rooms!
Fascinating story. Thanks for sharing. :)
The fact you don’t get tea or coffee for £1400 a night has blown my mind haha

But you do! A call to room service and it will be yours. The Ritz is too nice to expect its guests to pour their own tea or coffee. (That's not sarcasm)

One thing though -‘classic’ isn’t ’dated’ or ‘retro’ (which you seem to apply to anything more than 24 months old 😂). Dated implies worn out, unfashionable and well past its best - I somehow doubt the Ritz would thank you!!
Dated can mean worn out, it can also mean that it's a style from a previous era.

I paid £47 for a glass of champagne there recently. Prices have more than doubled there in twenty years
Expensssslt
Part of me does, too, but do I want to pay lots of money in order to help preserving it? Is there a double glazing fund I can send 10 quid to?
Yes yes!!!!!
Yes I was it was in the lobby , hallway and even in my room
I adore cigar fragrance ❤
I'm also surprised they allow this. If they have a cigar lounge, you would think that it would be in a secluded, enclosed and well ventilated area? If they did allow smoking rooms, then why not only have them on a few of the top floors so that the smoke/smell doesn't waft throughout the rest of the hotel? (With the type of demanding guests that they get, I could see them getting a few guests staying in top level suites for longer stays that want to smoke).
I can’t believe some of your comments the Ritz is timeless and you are made to feel so special and safe
I've only recently found your channel - which I love. It's brave to take on a big beast like the Ritz. Well done. Wow! Your grandson has great taste!

No way for a smoke smell room to much
Good review. With everything being said, I think this is the kind of place you'd enjoy before Christmas. It just has that vibe and I can imagine how beautiful the Christmas decorations would be, central London in the run-up to xmas etc.
Your family is lovely and it's good to see how kid-friendly hotels are.
The little stool is to put your handbag on.
I love the decoration inside in the hotel, it's like going back in time. The room was good also but maybe a little bit too mismatched but it oddly adds to the charm. And what a welcome with all the little gifts, really shows they care!
I think the variety of furniture makes it more homely. It's not ' old fashioned ' its CLASSIC!!!
Classic read naff
There is a difference between classy and dated. The furniture is dated.
@@Locutus I’m not sure I agree at all .
That's ok! You don't have to agree. It's all subjective! :) @@7ofthem
The decor is precisely correct for a pretentious old London hotel. Exactly as expected. It's not Dizneyworld.
I rarely watch hotel review videos, but this was entertaining, you both made me laugh, which makes this type of hotel content a little more interesting. Subscribed.
I think the small stool beside Gaby at the dining table was for her handbag.
I appreciate that they cover the glasses. Keeps the dust out.
And the spiders!
But there isn't any dust. The cardboard covers are just a nuisance. You'd have to go searching for a bin to put them into.
Thank you great video! I have worked as a waiter at the Ritz Restaurant in 1985 and that has surely improved a lot.
Wow exquisite ❤ The price pretty much is what you would expect for the ritz. Thanks for bringing us along as sadly it’s as close as many of us well get to staying in such a plush hotel. It’s a once in a lifetime experience and one to keep for a very special occasion. It would also be amazing to see the savoy in London. I imagine another oldy world hotel.
Thanks!
Thank you
Stayed there in 2012, had a beautiful two bedroom suite. Love how elegant it all was. Although one thing I wasn’t excited about was the spa. Lovely property with excellent service.
Fantastic tour.
Question ? Who babysit / took care of your son, while you were having your dinner ?
Hotel babysitting service, Cas loved the sitter, had a great time, this was discussed on both Tim and Gaby's live and on Gaby's Ritz vlog
I wondered that too. Nice little boy, happy and smiley.
ive stayed at the ritz many times..and it was free...my grannies home!...god bless her ♥..brill vlog...really enjoyed it..hugz 😘
All Casper's stuff in the room is so amazing!!!
Possibly 90s ..really just plain class act !
Classic . Traditional.
Elegance.
I agree you may think it's old but it's timeless classic nothing in that is cheap and from IKEA
I have terrible agoraphobia so I just want to thank you for allowing us to live vicariously through your very detailed reviews ❤
