One myth has been dispelled for me from watching your videos. I used to think that people who could afford to spend multiple thousands of dollars on lodging for just a night or so were secretly treated to a world I'll never know - one of gleaming interiors, impeccable service, and wall-to-wall perfection. The surprising truth is that even the super rich need to carefully seek out the few places that really embody that description. A hotel simply being sky-high expensive doesn't mean it isn't really just a sad, run-down place, painted gold.

As someone who has been a Manager of Hotels of a high standard, this is disgraceful there are so many safety concerns cords, faulty power points, dodgy air con randomly vented out a 70th floor window, a very lax approach to housekeeping & having a room guest ready, the quality & quantity of guest gifts especially for a penthouse is embarrassing, staff should never enter a floor unless the guest requests, the see through windows in to public areas is a big no no, all that hap hazard furniture just put anywhere my favourite the large dining table of the primary suite was hilarious....I would never, ever present this to a guest how embarrassing ...

I used to work as a cleaner in a hotel, we each had a floor and we'd do "quick cleans" every day/every checkout; change bed, clean bathroom, change bins, hoover, make sure cups and stuff was clean, dust etc, but we'd do one room a week of deep clean, and this meant every wall has to be cleaned, every piece of furniture had to be moved and cleaned behind, we'd also hoover the corridor of the rooms last at the end of the day, this penthouse hasn't been deep cleaned in a very very long time, if ever.

@@kitty16vcat11 I agree and glad you commented. I would have said the same but probably come across all wrong.
I got the impression this hotel isn't geared toward 'western' guests. The prayer mat, copy of the Koran, no alchohol. No cooking as spicy food can permeate. The paratha bread for breakfast.
Everything is blingy, but no finesse, no attention to the finer details, things left to deteriorate.
There are similar run hotels in my neck of the woods. All shiny and mirrors, but you have to accept the rough or unfinished bits behind the scenes. Fine if you're ok with that, but not for everyone

    • @kitty16vcat11
      @kitty16vcat11 8 місяців тому +5

@@mrglide7078 in all honesty, the prayer mat, Koran, no alcohol isn’t a problem for me at all, and being in a Muslim county that should be expected. It’s like when you still find a Bible in the drawer in a ‘’Christian’ County hotel - not gonna say anything right! I
t’s the HEALTH AND SAFETY that got me, having no alcohol too is definitely something that I like as I don’t get disturbed all night by obnoxious drunken rebels who disregard or disrespect the county that they are visiting. If I really want to continue with my daily habits then I certainly won’t choose a country or hotel that has restrictions.
On a different argument, I try to fly on airplanes that serve no alcohol as once i flew business class with a drunken elderly man who was beating up and spiting on fellow passengers, it was very terrifying to say the least as my seat was two rows away from him! I’d rather be next to a screaming baby in economy, I wish alcohol was banned on ALL airplanes, but that’s another story 😏

The unlocked door to a utility / machinery / facilities room was unbelievable to witness!?!? What if a child ran into there and managed to close and lock the door from the inside??? As in, from a child's imagination and playfulness - thinking it is funny to have their parent or guardian not being able to open the door to get them out if the child managed to lock themselves in as a "game" or for "fun" 😮😮😮

As a Penthouse, it’s a massive disappointment and the rest of the Hotel is even more of a disappointment and I wouldn’t even call it a Five Star Hotel and the main Lifts being used by the Staff would never be used by the cleaning staff and the Room would of been Checked by the Cleaning Manager before the Room is officially opened to the Guests, once again a huge disappointment for a Five Star Hotel.

I know that area of Dubai and it is a slightly older part of the city with older buildings, so Im not surprised by the wear and tear. Also, the cleaning staff are all philipino and are no doubt over worked and very under paid. It looked like a beautiful suite once upon a time, but Id say theres been a few parties in that room over the years, hence the stains. The cleaners def need a service elevator and the penthouse, should have had its own dedicated lift. Great video, but it def doesn't compare to the atlantis the royal ... it was amazing !

I lived and worked in Dubai for 8 years and I remember when they opened this Hotel as my office was just opposite on SZR. I would never have stayed there personally, knowing what it was like, there are many better Hotels to stay in in Dubai as you well know. I recommend a stay at the Paramount Hotel by DAMAC (5-star) in Business Bay (not the Midtown one) if you ever go back. It has a cinema, Hollywood-themed rooms (quirky), nice restaurants and bars, a relaxing pool area, plus more. I lived in the Hotel complex for 2 years, it has 4 towers, 3 are residential and one is the Hotel, and all 4 towers are interconnected. All I can say is "WoW!" I used to work in a 5 star luxury hotel that catered to stars and looking at this place it should consider itself lucky if it rates 1 star. Cleaners should never be using guest lifts, they are supposed to use the maintenance lifts (which should be out of sight of guest rooms) on each floor. They are never supposed to delay or interfere with guest movement. The M3 floor you went up to and couldn't use the lift to get down is a Maintenance Floor. They are supposed to only have access to Maintenance Floors with special keys to make the lift work (to keep guests from accessing the floor).
This whole hotel needs a complete overhaul of the hotel and staff. Lots of changes need to be made to bring it up to the standard of a Motel 6!
Sorry your Penthouse stay was not much better Tim. There are Penthouses that would blow your mind with their luxury. I am so sorry your first experience in one had to be so bad ☹☹☹

Penthouse with 5 bedrooms but the interior and deco are very basic. I am surprised they didn't stock up drinks in the fridge for guest staying in the penthouse. The kettle and coffee machine look cheap. Also, the curtains have to do it manually iso electronic. No TOTO bidet... I agree, what's the point of a hob if cooking is not permitted. Why is there a long dining/meeting table with chairs in the master bedroom? Overall, very underwhelmed and tacky to the max. The only consolation is the rooftop pool with a nice view. Lastly, the hotel cleaning staff should not be using the guest lifts, they have a separate lifts for them.

Tim, you should definitely get lessons on the piano. It's really not very expensive and you've got to learn another song! The only song we have ever heard is the EastEnders. True story there are many songs that you could learn that would be quick and easy to learn then you could say you're taking lessons for the piano!!! Then we can all live vicariously through you, 😆

Early on in the video, when you mentioned the porter only showed you to room 1 (of 5); I assumed he was too embarrassed to show you the rest of the penthouse due to all the list of things you observed that fell very short of expectations even if you got a good deal / price for the rooms e.g. level of dirtiness, hanging wires and cables, lack of spare or un-used wall sockets, TVs not working fully, no hot water, carpets not vacuumed regularly, manual window blinds, "used" bed sheets odour...the list goes on! 😮

Its killing Tim not telling us how many people can fit in the shower 😂 I reckon 30 in this large one 😂 Nice stains on that table 😂

Thank you for trying this out for us!
And all these expensive hotels… they almost all have these ugly carpets 😖
And the furniture is pure cheap…😬
And I thought I was missing out on something 😂

Thank you Tim for sharing your vlog. Just wow!! That is a gigantic penthouse!!! More like mini house 🏠 😅
I must say you should of shared how many people you thought you can fit in that shower "room!!" I say about 20!! A pity one window was taped up by silver tape & the fittings for charging ya phone was a bit dodgy. 🤔
Overall a good video by you.
Check out the Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah if you haven't as yet 😀 😉

Thank you Tim for the video and having to put up with this crappy hotel. Build quality is very substandard and cleanliness leaves something to be desired. At the swimming pool you summed things up “tacky”. All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺

It’s just an apartment building, build, then bought as rental flats. Therefore there is a fully fitted kitchen, but as there is an added fire risk as well as issue with food smell sticking to fabrics, due to open kitchen/livingroom.

This place is another level. No cheap wood flooring either, too noisy if the building sways in the wind. Awesome 👍However I’ve just seen the wire and sellotape on the window 😮
