Like, bruh, if magic did exist like that, you'd have so many mages who would be fit as fuck, learning to cast mid combat, while moving around, and whatnot, and how to use magic in close combat, so they're not useless at anything that's not mid range or long range.
Yeah it's really refreshing to have a mage like Sypha doing shit like this fr cause I've always wondered the same Most of those type of mages get taken out pretty easily too

i mean, her method takes a lot of skill, that standing and casting doesnt need. someone else just making ice shields and shooting lightning bolts could easily live their whole life without being harmed or threatened. syphas honestly beyond overkill, because her basic magic is enough for anybody who doesnt plan on taking on 40 highly skilled vampires/night creatures at once. i think youd end up with a lot more people like the old dude isaac killed, someone who you need an army to get close to, and then when you are close, he can still one shot you if you arent also a prodigy. i reckon most mages probably mostly fight humans who have no magic, with the occasional other mage. besides even alucard says rule one of fighting vampires is to never get close. hell you could just do the sypha ice elevator for a few meters and then any human without a bow or magic is rendered worthless. syphas probably the equivalent of a tank crewmember who has a gift for swordfighting, like yeah its cool, and helpful if youre ever in that situation, but if you do your job right that never happens. but sypha is also so much more fun to watch than any conventional mage, and thats what really counts.
Honestly one of the best animated fight sequences I’ve ever seen. They really pulled out all the stops. I think when they originally announced a Castlevania Netflix show, a lot of people were skeptical, but to have it turn out *this* well is just fucking amazing.
2:45 to 2:55 "i need a castlavania game!" (remembers last time said that, bring out snes and about to throw at lupa head) "but with just sypha" (hard pause, ponders, lowers snes and nods in approval).
13:35 Death "Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to me?" Trevor "I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer."
First of all, did anyone else notice the crescent moon over the castle? That is a direct reference to the games, when you make the final approach to Dracula's quarters. Aside from the absolutely insane animation and the epic battles, the thing about this episode that sticks out for me, is seeing just how far Trevor has come since his first appearance. When we first met Trevor, he was a drunken drifter, extremely jaded with other people, due to the excommunication and persecution of his family. Despite this, he was still unable to walk away from those in need. Here, in this episode, after many battles, Trevor fully embraces his destiny and fulfilled his duty as a Belmont.
that moment when Shypha and Trevor arriving to back up Alucard... and that surprise look in Alucard's face then the relief... it always gives me goosebumps.... super fine episode and reaction guys!
Only in this show can see and hear Death call someone a "fucker" lol also I really would kill to see this animation team do either a Berserk series or a Dark Souls series.
varney having an identical personality post-transformation is just the best shit. like it legitimately, uniquely works. dude was so long-lived that he knew how to fool everybody while still being himself.
Trevor collecting random things as he travels and combining them into an ultimate weapon…kind of like what happens in a video game like the ones this show is based off…it’s clever writing really. Sadly Konami are not interested in making anymore castlevania games so spin offs of this show are all we have to look forward to
In season two. He literally finds his main weapon in a chest. I love whenever this show makes the biggest video game references and you don’t realize it
Actually there are leaks that Konami is officially bringing MGS, Castlevania, and Silent Hill back. The MGS project seems to be a remake and people think it's either a remake of MGS1 or 3, the Castlevania project seems like it's a reboot/reimagining that might take inspiration from the show, and the Silent Hill project seems like it'll be a revival of P.T. Either way there are big things happening over at Konami behind the scenes atm.
it felt cathartic watching it for first time, seeing all things fall in and fit correctly. and rewatching it felt cathartic too, seeing foreshadowings. and rewatching again and again. and now watching your reactions was also cathartic. next episode won't be as high as this one but it will still satisfy a lot and finally give a good ending to a good series which almost never happens. thanks for such great quality content. keep up the good work. wish you well
This has to be the only series where in every single episode they are all "It's over already?!?!". Also I am going to miss lupa's ART and Varney quotes.
What I love about the magic use in this is Sypha isn't a typical mage throwing fireballs from a distance. She is wielding magic in melee range creating blades and shields. It's so damn inventive!
One of the directors for animating this show is a Naruto fan and had even made fan animation for Naruto vs Sasuke. That kind of passion is easily seen in Sypha.
The coolest part is there were TONS of hints to Varney's identity 1.The collar of his coat is shaped like a scythe 2. He is the only character with dots for eyes, whereas everyone else's are super detailed 3. He brags about being the scourge of London before it was London. Which, once you actually look it up, would make him way older then even Dracula 4. Characters constantly comment on how much he stinks. Like a corpse you might say...
I knew they weren't gonna be ready for this episode, cuz nobody was ready for this episode when it first dropped lol. Some of the best animated fight choreography I'd seen in a minute when I got to this episode
If you look back at Episode 6, when Carmilla stabs herself and explodes, you'll see an outline of Death in the blast. Amazing detail to a great show. 👍
Most if not all the enemies they fight throughout the series are actual enemies and boss fights from the games. This show is the perfect blend of fan service while still standing out from the source material.
Back in one of the earlier episodes, it was hinted (I only realized while watching the reactions) that he was death in a single line. It was at the end of Ratko's vampire rant, where at the end, Varney says something along the lines of, "...it nourishes me." It's the one time he was portrayed as sinister rather than a bummy, narcissistic side character.
Also most shots of his coat have his collar look like the classic grim reaper hood and scythe. Honestly, the more you watch the Varney scenes the more Death references you see. It’s so well done, almost no-one calls it but when you watch it back you wonder how you ever missed it. Great stuff
Damn, the Castelvania reactions are coming to an end. Imma miss the geeking over Sypha, the animation mind blowers, the constant jokes and most of all….Lupa’s famous “VAAARRNNEYYY!!!” line.
Something I noticed while watching the reaction from early in the season. They hinted at death on the first episode with a statue, the part where the people were about to sacrifice the woman and children . Trevor and Sypha briefly spoke about it too
The animation was fire this episode, the best man. The ending broke me 😭 I'm over here not Travor got me crying just think about it sometimes. Season 4 10/10.
Trevor learned well: " Leon: "I have the power to destroy all related to the vampires. Though you have divine powers, you are no exception." Death: "Unfortunately for you, as long as my master survives, I will rise from the dead..." Leon: "I see. Give him this message: You have become a cursed being and I will never forgive you. This whip and my kinsmen will destroy you someday. From this day on, the Belmont Clan will hunt the night."
@@JayJayM57 Yeah people are sleeping on Trevor hardcore. He's less flashy than the others cuz he doesn't have outright magical abilities but dude puts in work whenever he fights. Takes a lot of skill and determination to go around bodying demons and vampires with just your fists and a couple of weapons as a relatively normal human the way he does. He actually became my favorite character to watch during fights cuz of how creative his kills get without the use of magic.
@@ozairchishti1264 personally I think all 3 characters complement each other. Cypher is a glass cannon. A lot of power but fragile body. Alucard is a rounded power house. He possess an arsenal of abilities, with super speed and strength. But he has been shown to have tunnel vision and lack in the power department compared to other heavy hitters( like Cypher and other vampires). Trevor being human without powers. He is more aware of everything. This included an extensive education on the supernatural and the environment around him. His training allows him to keep up and beat stronger opponents. And unlike Cypher he is built to take a hit and he carries an arsenal of magical weapons and armor.
The part where the trio jumps through the fire and fight in the castle entrance was the perfect scene to play Vampire Killer, and I was really sad when it didn't play it since it's basically the main theme of the franchise.
Alucard appreciates the lack of threesome jokes in this episode Also, this is easily the only Castlevania episode that DOESN'T feel like it's over in ten minutes, beautiful
I think some of the items he picked up are tributes to the subweapons. You have like holy water, holy cross (which i think is the 4 sided blade boomerang), and the dagger. Yea this was super lit 🔥
14:00 this ep got alot of references fans know from the games with that scene is how they do alot of cover/promo art of castlevania games with a belmont/alucard weapons out and facing the place they are heading into with showing monsters/bosses they will face. plus music playing here is a more epic version of the bloody tears song you heard back in s2 when they first got into draculas castle and fought the vampire soldiers/lords. and in end when trevor builds up flames thats the iconic flame whip from castlevania 2 which is the strongest weapon/attack players can get to dish out damage.
Good to see reactors able to appreciate the actual effort & art level of this episode - I'll say it again ( as an illustrator & 2D traditional animator ) : There's not one show, american or japanese, which has this frame production level NONE.
This probably has the highest frame count in a single animated episode for a show but I'd say Legend of Korra overall still has a higher production level.
@@frizen9328 In terms of quality PER frame, I'd say Korra is far, far behind - they even changed the character designs starting season 2 to make everything simpler Castlevania on the other hand, never sacrifices linework for animation, which is extremely pleasant
@@grunt9950 Season 2 designs were changed because Perriot was doing the animation and thats when everyone noticed the quality decline. Mir came back the 2nd half of season 2 and brought Korra back to its former quality. Also simpler designs means more animation friendly. Castlevania is very much animated like an anime, when nothing important is happening (mainly fight scenes) characters barely move if at all, that is not something Korra falls into they don't compromise on animation. Yes Castlevania has amazing and detailed artwork but it is too detailed and not animation friendly which is why even when stuff starts moving for a fight a lot of the fights are on 3's and even 4's. Castlevania sacrifices animation for its art a lot of the time. I can't recall any point in Korra aside from the first half of s2 where I thought wow this looks choppy or yeesh that could have used a few more inbetweens. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Korra doesn't have some stuff on 3's or that animation on 3's or 4's is bad, a lot of it is amazing and there's plenty in Castlevania that's on 2's and 1's aswell but if we're talking about pure animation production Korra wins overall.
Randomly came back here 2 years later, I do agree with you on some point, but I don't feel like the animation suffered noticeably in Castlevania. Season 3-4 still seems to be the peak btw, I've watched Nocturnal ( or Nocturne ? Don't remember ) and while there were beautiful "ideas" in terms of Art Direction, the animation wasn't it for me in comparison. What did you think ? @@frizen9328

i reckon most mages probably mostly fight humans who have no magic, with the occasional other mage. besides even alucard says rule one of fighting vampires is to never get close. hell you could just do the sypha ice elevator for a few meters and then any human without a bow or magic is rendered worthless. syphas probably the equivalent of a tank crewmember who has a gift for swordfighting, like yeah its cool, and helpful if youre ever in that situation, but if you do your job right that never happens.
but sypha is also so much more fun to watch than any conventional mage, and thats what really counts.
Speaker magic is a different kind of magic than the kinds that require preparation
Castlevania 3 had an SNES port?
As some who's never played the Castlevania games, was Sypha as powerful as the show depicts her? Was she ever playable?
@@PacifistDungeonMaster She had low defense but crazy high damage output, you could potentially make her into the most busted character in the game.
Castlevania 3 for NES Cof cof cof....
LMAO
13:35
Death "Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to me?"
Trevor "I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer."
I've never seen lupa have so much fun watching a show than he did watching this masterpiece.
The price of a Simp...
Death: "What did it cost?
St. Germain: "Everything."
lol pretty much
Death would’ve killed him anyway if he said no, or leave him stranded in the corridor 🤷🏾♂️ he did also save Trevor in the end
@@ChampionOfHammerfell the small flick at the key..
This series is incredible. Everyone popped off this episode. "Its so beautiful." -Death
Most anime are lucky to do like 2 S-tier fights in a season. Castlevania did 3 in one episode.
that moment when Shypha and Trevor arriving to back up Alucard... and that surprise look in Alucard's face then the relief... it always gives me goosebumps....
super fine episode and reaction guys!
Easily one of the best moments of the entire show. That level of trust and friendship is unmatched with that one shot
Only in this show can see and hear Death call someone a "fucker" lol also I really would kill to see this animation team do either a Berserk series or a Dark Souls series.
Im not sure but i think it is confirmed that they are about to Animate the New berserk season
@@joilyjoy4852 wherever you heard this, are they continuing where the last season left off? Of started fresh or after the OG version?
They are doing a Devil May Cry anime
Berserk, Dark Souls, Devil May Cry... any of those series would be freaking AMAZING.
@@rodel7636 there is a Devil May Cry anime on Netflix in the works. Don't have any confirmation on where it's set in the timeline tho
Few things make me happier than when Lupa and Roshi speak in unison. "The Avengers angle" floored me
varney having an identical personality post-transformation is just the best shit. like it legitimately, uniquely works. dude was so long-lived that he knew how to fool everybody while still being himself.
Death might feel like a random final boss but death has been in multiple castlevania games and has sided with Dracula multiple times.
Tbf he's usually dracula's right hand man, so for castlevania fans it's more of a when's death coming
I love whenever this show makes the biggest video game references and you don’t realize it
@@fragile4408 and the chest was hidden behind the stairs. Almost like the games tradition of stuff inside the walls.
Maybe we can get a new series with Alucard babysitting Richter and Maria.
@@ozairchishti1264 Gross. I don’t trust Konami with those properties anymore.
Sypha legit like the most OP female side character with her infinite mana. They animated the fuck out of this episode.
Being pregnant must have gave her a boost.
@@anthonyroberts7486 Their kid is going to be fucking OP broken. Feeding off of two people's mana, plus that GOAT mama bear power boost.
it felt cathartic watching it for first time, seeing all things fall in and fit correctly. and rewatching it felt cathartic too, seeing foreshadowings. and rewatching again and again. and now watching your reactions was also cathartic. next episode won't be as high as this one but it will still satisfy a lot and finally give a good ending to a good series which almost never happens.
thanks for such great quality content. keep up the good work. wish you well
I loved how that scene before the final fight felt like a cut scene in a video game boss fight.
This has to be the only series where in every single episode they are all "It's over already?!?!". Also I am going to miss lupa's ART and Varney quotes.
Trevor was slept on until this episode.. man popped off astronomically on some king shit!👑😭🔥
That kind of passion is easily seen in Sypha.
lupa’s screams makes these reactions bro i swear 💀💀 got me doing that shit when i’m just hangin out w/ my friends now lmaoo
The coolest part is there were TONS of hints to Varney's identity
1.The collar of his coat is shaped like a scythe
2. He is the only character with dots for eyes, whereas everyone else's are super detailed
3. He brags about being the scourge of London before it was London.
Which, once you actually look it up, would make him way older then even Dracula
Sypha really was the MVP in this show for me.
Everytime she does something I get so hyped
One of thee best episodes and animation I've ever seen, SSS tier right here
Most if not all the enemies they fight throughout the series are actual enemies and boss fights from the games. This show is the perfect blend of fan service while still standing out from the source material.
Friendly reminder that this show has ZERO Emmy nominations for animation. Not just zero wins, ZERO NOMINATIONS.
Make! It! Make! Sense!
I was bussin this whole episode bro the animation, the dialogue, the writing everything 😩😩😩😩👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
One word masterpiece
@@dorkasaurus_rex exactly 😩😩😩this whole show is a masterpiece fr. Hidden gem
There were more hints. He didn't feed on blood, he crossed holy running water, he smelled like death, and a few others.
Also most shots of his coat have his collar look like the classic grim reaper hood and scythe.
Honestly, the more you watch the Varney scenes the more Death references you see. It’s so well done, almost no-one calls it but when you watch it back you wonder how you ever missed it.
Great stuff
@@HiveFleetOni 100% agree. No matter how many times I watch it, it doesn't depreciate at all. I just find new details that make it more memorable.
Trevor and Sypha briefly spoke about it too
They should have titled this ep "It was VARNY all along!!"😂😂
Unlimited Budget Works. God damn. The witch fight is my favorite of the whole series I think!
i love how genuinely excited you guys got! :)
2:57 Bro the editor for yalls vids always impresses me. Love this channel so much😄
The animation was fire this episode, the best man. The ending broke me 😭 I'm over here not Travor got me crying just think about it sometimes. Season 4 10/10.
I could not wait you guys to get to this episode especially that fight against death was on a whole other level of animation and cinematography
eesh, still get goosebumps watching this episode again. I'm glad you all enjoyed it!
This episode right here is the netflix's best work anime-wise!🔥🔥👑
Arcane : hold my beer
16:16 if Roshi didn't say anything I wouldn't have noticed that that wasn't actually Lupa screaming lol
Trevor learned well: " Leon: "I have the power to destroy all related to the vampires. Though you have divine powers, you are no exception."
Death: "Unfortunately for you, as long as my master survives, I will rise from the dead..."
Leon: "I see. Give him this message: You have become a cursed being and I will never forgive you. This whip and my kinsmen will destroy you someday. From this day on, the Belmont Clan will hunt the night."
You know your team is OP when you have two people that can make Trevor look less impressive by comparison
I don't know about that. He got to shine a lot. For example, he was the only to switch targets when all 3 where losing.
@@JayJayM57 “Cypher”
The part where the trio jumps through the fire and fight in the castle entrance was the perfect scene to play Vampire Killer, and I was really sad when it didn't play it since it's basically the main theme of the franchise.
Alucard appreciates the lack of threesome jokes in this episode
Also, this is easily the only Castlevania episode that DOESN'T feel like it's over in ten minutes, beautiful
Was waiting this particular reaction for the longest 👏🏾👏🏾🔥
I freaking love this show! It's a masterpiece 😌👌🏾.
Alucard fighting with a sword and shield along with the drip reminds me of sotn ngl.
One of the best shows I’ve ever watched
The idea of Death cursing and talking shit is strangely wholesome to me.
A well done masterpiece for the ages!
16:37 yall are spammin that Varney voice and its hilarious! 😂😂
I have been CRAVING their reaction to Death/the Dagger. I WAS NOT DISSATISFIED
I’ve been waiting desperately for you three to watch the fights in this episode. Pure God tier gold. 😭 Beautiful.
Good to see reactors able to appreciate the actual effort & art level of this episode -
I'll say it again ( as an illustrator & 2D traditional animator ) : There's not one show, american or japanese, which has this frame production level
NONE.
This probably has the highest frame count in a single animated episode for a show but I'd say Legend of Korra overall still has a higher production level.
@@frizen9328 In terms of quality PER frame, I'd say Korra is far, far behind - they even changed the character designs starting season 2 to make everything simpler
Castlevania on the other hand, never sacrifices linework for animation, which is extremely pleasant
Dubbing in Lupa's scream over Death at 16:16 fucking killed me xD
Dawg that shit had me screaming 😂😭😂
"I am Trevor Belmont of House Belmont, and dying has never frightened me."
this man Lupa said Teamo Supremo lmfaoooooo he just unlocked a memory deep inside my child brain
Best reaction guys, thank u for this! you made my day, I forgot how epic this ep was.
I’ve been waiting for this since they started the first episode of the first season.
I didn’t want Castlevania to end
Alucard: As if my day wasn't going badly enough... It's Trevor Belmont.
The two of them have the biggest and best frenemy vibes ever.
Bro Varney being the woman and Death was probably one of the most interesting and amazing plot twists I've seen in a while. They've been talking about the aspect of death throughtout the season but I don't think anyone expected for Death to literally show up.
11th Doctor : “Oh you like to think you’re a god, but you’re not a god, you’re just a parasite”.
Funnily enough Death might actually literally see humans as "fuckers", cause it kinda makes sense.
"Rebus and Cathy Lee" man the one liners from this channel are hilarious.
