I love that Batman has the capability to silence his footsteps, but he announces himself with his footsteps and appears broodingly. That following the opening monologue gave me chills. One of the best theater experiences I've had. Robert really has aced the Batman role.
I know this sounds dumb, but since this is supposed to be like the beginning years of this Batman, is he like trying to “grow his brand”. Then later he uses stealth. I also have no clue on anything Batman, only read the Batman who laughs comic awhile back
He's a sick man who knows nothing about the character. He just wants him to kill because why the Hell not and doesn't care if innocent people die or this person goes too far
I really like the twist that he inspired his villains. He realizes that his whole vengeance message is inspiring the wrong people and at the end he turns to inspire hope. A good character arc that make me excited to see the future of this character
The first ten minutes of the film is like a masterclass on how to present Batman. I got chills so many times watching this movie. Every little detail I love about it. Like this is the Batman live action film I been waiting for scene ten.
The first 10 minutes is like a thesis for why Batman would be effective. Even the armor I took one look and thought "...Yeah, he could plausibly kick ass in that."
My thoughts exactly. This was the first time when I actually saw batman and thought "That could inspire fear into people". The fact that all the criminals were constantly afraid at the mere presence of shadows was wonderful. Now if they keep this batman to the purely city level and don't give him insane amounts of plot armor like in the comics, he'll be the best batman ever.
Robert is my Batman. " he wants to save Gotham, and he does so by making criminals shit their pants. What it's not working , he said so constantly throughout the movie. In the story Alfred treats Bruce warmly but they still have a distance. Alfred genuinely feels like the humanity Bruce once had has been gone in his quest to stop crime. Bruce is just awkward he's weird doesn't know how to act like a person. For example, Christian Bale Batman was a version where he needed to isolate himself for a time to understand what he needs to do, what he needs to become, but he never felt alien. Pattinson Bruce, Pattinson Batman feels alien. The dudes desperate for some kind of relationship that's beyond beating people's faces in but he doesn't allow myself to open up" - Brown table
I loved how this movie accurately depicted a year 2 Batman. An undeveloped Bruce Wayne persona, a work in progress gliding cape, people being confused if he’s on their side or not, and him understanding that he needs to be more than just vengeance to save Gotham.
I read an interview where Matt Reeves mentions that the brooding Bruce Wayne was intentional. He said that he wanted for the audience see Bruce before he develops his "public" personality. You have to remember that Batman is really who he is. "Bruce Wayne" is the real costume he wears. I think this is a very interesting approach as its never been done on film.
I really hope Matt Reeves is allowed to continue this Batman for like a trilogy where we get to see Bruce develop that public personality he's known for. Like slowly going from brooding to being the philanthropic billionaire playboy.
yeah i was confused why many people dont get “there was no bruce wayne” just batman without mask. like penguinz. The point was he didnt have make that persona yet for the public
They made a whole scene about that and people still don't understand 🤦♂ don't worry peeps i'm sure you'll have your genius billionaire playboy philanthropist soon.
Well you can always watch bale with that GIGANTIC helmet on top of his head. This is the most accurate, and best looking suit including the mask I've seen.
This is such a good movie man. I was so happy I saw this in the theaters. We finally have a Batman that ACTS like a detective. I liked that even though he acts more like a detective, he is still making mistakes which shows that he is not there yet. Same with his skills in combat. Dude still can kick ass but was taken damage. I also LOVE the batmobile the more I watch it. The sound on that thing was insane!
Yeah don't know why fans don't want to accept batman can make a mistake. As soon as they do they act like its a bad movie. He's not on some Justice League outsmarting the whole squad levels yet
Biggest mistake he made was when he got photos from riddler, the photos were taken from riddler's apartment he could have got him before his plan even got started, but that perfectly shows how inexperienced he is, he isn't the world's greatest detective yet
I too have wondered why anybody would live in Gotham. And then someone pointed out to me scene where Bruce looks at Selina's mail and sees her rent bill. That apartment is $400 and some change. All the crime and violence makes the city cheap as hell so apparently most folks think the low cost of living is worth possibly being jumped and robbed every time you go out
What I loved more than anything is the relationship that Bruce has with his own persona, and how he *needs* Batman as a way to vent the frustration from the undealt-with trauma of losing his parents. But inversely, Batman *needs* Bruce to be better. The most effective visual of the entire film that gave me chills is him reaching out to save the mayor's son - a stand-in for healing his own childhood trauma. He learns that he needs to evolve beyond vengeance, to become something Gotham needs: _Hope._
@@theawesomeman9821 the movie did. Didn't you hear or noticed the contrast to the end and beginning monologues? Or even the contrast between the subway scene and the stadium?? At the subway station Batman was just there to beat up criminals, when he turned to the civilian the man was terrified, but Batman was non reactive. Whereas in the stadium, he was actually reaching out to the people and they were hesitant until they saw the boy swum towards him. The boy represents the tortured Bruce Wayne that still hasn't healed from his parents death. Why else was he staring at the kid with a sympathizing gaze during the first crime scene? Or when Bryce was ignoring the Mayor at the funeral staring at the boy? We didn't need to see a flashback of his parents murder, Pattinson portrays that grief well in every scene. Especially in the funeral scene, Bruce looked alienated.
Love the growth. Batman starts by saying "I am the shadows" then ends with being a literal torchbearer leading a kid into the light, someone who realizes vengeance is limited and you also gotta bring hope if you want to bring change. Loved this movie and y'all's reaction. Strong recommend for hitting the deleted scene they released online if ya haven't. It's sick and gives you more Joker to enjoy.
What I like about this movie is somehow they made the Riddler an actual menacing enemy and then when his face was revealed they made him look like a reddit/4chan user. I am thankful that I watched this at home because I almost died laughing at the scene where he was thanking the stream for tips.
So happy we got this. But so surprised that you two could contain yourselves from watching this in theaters. It was such an experience tbh! The sound design alone during the batmobile scene legit put a smile on my face. By far the best bat mobile chase scene ever!!
I still remember hearing the bat mobile reveal scene in the cinema is one of the greatest movie moment in my life. The sound rumble the whole seat and it's just perfect in cinema.
I'm reallyyy looking forward to the next installment of this particular Batman franchise. I absolutely loved the detective aspect of this story and Bruce not really knowing how to be an effective Bruce Wayne yet. Everything about year 2 Batman is a positive for me. I'd like Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy to be the main antagonists for the next film, and I'm also hoping for a couple year time skip so Bruce can continue to develop as Batman and Bruce Wayne🙌🏾
8:35 actually I forgot which story it was but they explain since Gotham is by the bay ppl come over by boats and bring stuff from over seas. In the early years of Gotham city ppl brought exotic animals which include bats. The bats were let loose and they try to find homes and of course they go to caves of any dark areas. Years past and the bats became part of Gotham city.
A rat with wings = a bat. La in the statement was probably a clever way of referring to Bruce's favorite car which is a Lamborghini Murciélago, hence the "rat with wings" since Murciélago means bat. Interesting way he did that.
This movie is in my opinion the best Batman movie about Batman. The first Movie where you see the impact of his work on criminals in the intro, you see his detective stuff and its also the first time a Batman movie felt scary to me because the riddler had some good moments
The opening of this movie sets up the atmosphere of Gotham so well. The monologue actually feels like the text panels of a comic and really helps set up what kind of Batman we're getting.
Robert Pattinson is no longer the dude from Twilight, he is THE FREAKING BATMAN!!! This is perhaps the most faithful adaptation of Batman from the comics I have ever seen. Especially if you read Scott Snyder’s run of the comics with The Court Of Owls, which fingers crossed 🤞 we get in the next movie. And I especially loved that not only did he stop a mass shooting (especially now that sadly in America they are almost commonplace) and beat them to a pulp, but also showed he doesn’t just have to be a punisher of criminals, but a savior of the innocent.
As always, I loved your reactions. The great thing is they used an actual comic story, the Long Halloween for this film. Matt Reeves solved the DC problem, use comics as inspiration, that’s where the characters came from. DC loves to create completely new stories removing many attributes from the characters making them unrecognizable and voila, you get the Arrowverse. Joking kind of.
37:33 I'm pretty sure he was still wearing most of the Batsuit under that jacket (he looks way too bulky under it) and just put his boots, gloves, and mask in the bag. There had to be room in it for that angle grinder too!
You guys ever notice Gotham news be showing the most graphic news reports😭 Joker was shown torturing and beating a hostage and now riddler showing his knock off Saw device
27:53 I liked that yall understood the fact that he isn't using the resources he could with his family's business...many people were complaining on why he didn't have all the batman gadgets we are used to seeing him with
This movie was so great, the tone was solid through all of it, every scene with riddler made you uneasy. Honestly made me think of the bat signal in a new way. Never thought of the bat signal scarring the s*it out of people who were doing petty crime.
The Riddler doesn't care about justice. He only cares about lashing out at the city for his suffering, whether or not they did anything wrong and he wants to be a "hero" while he does it. In his eyes, everyone in Gotham is equally guilty for not knowing or caring about his suffering. The primary difference between him and Batman is that Batman cares about protecting innocents, while the Riddler does not.
Matt Reeves and Colin Farrell are apparently making a tv show that follows on from this movie and basically covers how he ended up taking over Gotham now Falcone's gone. I'm guessing that's where a bunch of additional worldbuilding and stuff is going to end up? Also Matt Reeves and a bunch of folk from Batman: the Animated Series and the comics themselves are making a new cartoon for HBO Max, which sounds like it should be a lot of fun.
Now I'm picturing Lupa reacting like this in the theaters and everyone telling him to get out lmao. Movies are always better with friends to react with.
11:45 Reminding me of Witcher 3 there; dudes on the Continent seeing Geralt all strapped up with 2 big ass swords, Cat Eyes and a crossbow and they think "Yea i'm just gonna go fuck around with this dude, he ain't shit" 🤦♂same parallels here lol
Imma say it, Lupa needs to chill. They kept missing talking points because he kept joking around. I don't know how Roshi didn't just shush him. I've seen the movie and even I'm annoyed.
I feel like when people talk about batman not killing they forget when batman says "if i cross that line i wont be able to stop"he refuses to become a murderer, because he knows that murdering the Joker or Riddler leads to murdering all of them, making each killing easier than the last. And that casts him as the very thing that created him, as the thing he fights against, because at that point the only difference between Batman and the Joker would be that Batman thinks he's able to justify his own murders.
@@alphanerd7221 I mean, it would make sense for a lot of versions, like the older Ben Affleck portrayal or this particularly young and unhinged Vengeance-man... I just thought it was a stupid arrival idea with the glass roof
I love this batman so much. This is a batman/Bruce that would adopt a recently orphaned circus child ( Alfred is tied to the circus in this soooo) AND think vigilante crime fighting is an appropriate for him.
Honestly when Batman was being chased by the cops in the GCPD building I got massive flashbacks to when I tried to take on the entire precinct in Batman Arkham Origins
So happy you guys reacted to this!! Definitely one of my favorite movies- the dark and gritty vibes with the detective aspect just hit so well and makes me excited for future movies
Imagine watch the movie for the first time then ur friend beside you who already watch it keep laughing non stop for no reason Kinda ruin the experience
12:08 , I’m so used to a Batman who uses just martial arts and gadgets to fight. But when this incarnation started using bats and rifles as melee weapons. Dayuum
35:53 Meanwhile the cat is ready to do what the pu$$y can't. Lol I like how the entire movie Roshi and Lupa were like "take the whole city down ... burn it down". But when Riddler put it in the work...
Man, I really like Lupa, but I feel like this movie is not meant to be watched cracking jokes every five seconds, I know that some shit Batman pulls may be funny but come on, it's a crime thriller, it's supposed to be serious

Loved this movie and y'all's reaction. Strong recommend for hitting the deleted scene they released online if ya haven't. It's sick and gives you more Joker to enjoy.
Underrated comment
Great reaction! I love how Roshi gives props to Riddler for cleaning up the city but when Sheera says "he has a point", he goes "your on your own"
I'm reallyyy looking forward to the next installment of this particular Batman franchise.
28:17 when Lupa asked what car is that? The Penguin was driving I believe it was a GHIBLI Maserati.
Damn, lupa laughs like every 10 seconds
Yo y’all are funny as hell, favorite movie commentary I’ve seen. 😂
The way Lula is reacting to this you would think it was the first time he’d seen the film. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This movie is literally "We've been Spending most our life, living in a Gangster's paradise"
This movie is in my opinion the best Batman movie about Batman. The first Movie where you see the impact of his work on criminals in the intro, you see his detective stuff and its also the first time a Batman movie felt scary to me because the riddler had some good moments
Cool fact: the guy that appears in 5:10 its Jay Lycurgo who play as Tim Drake ( 3rd Robin ) in Titans series LOL
The opening of this movie sets up the atmosphere of Gotham so well. The monologue actually feels like the text panels of a comic and really helps set up what kind of Batman we're getting.
2:00 my exact same reaction lmao. That got me good too
If that ain't the finest mayor ever.....
I'm surprised if they can understand what's going on in the movie with all the laughing every 10 seconds
You guys ever notice Gotham news be showing the most graphic news reports😭
Joker was shown torturing and beating a hostage and now riddler showing his knock off Saw device
Here after watching Penguin reactions, I need to see Penguin in pain
27:53 I liked that yall understood the fact that he isn't using the resources he could with his family's business...many people were complaining on why he didn't have all the batman gadgets we are used to seeing him with
Never expected you guys to post this thank you guys🥰🥰🥰
“Come see me when you’re ready to be Robin” calling it now, Sheera’s predicting something for the future films
Y’all are the best reactors man, keep up everything your doing. Much love ❤️🔥
"Everybody in the city just does crime at night?" I mean yeah Roshi, welcome to Gotham...
When Batman was KO'd from the explosion, he has his suit rigged so only he knows how to remove it, this includes his mask.
That "Sheera, clock out." from Lupa had me in fuckin tears man! xD
Riddler had Batman backed into that corner when he thought he figured him out soon as he realized he didn’t he started getting confrontational 🤣
Dude in yellow looked high af laughing so much lol
I knew this reaction was coming and I knew you would love it. Battinson all the way 😁😁
I’ve been crying at “bussy” for the past 10 minutes 😂
I really enjoyed how Batman was portrayed in this movie and I’m excited to see what happens next.
Nolan movies had batman do detective work. But this one really did had batman actually be a detective.
8:02
“Come see me when you’re ready to fight murderers, serial killers and psychopaths”
I've seen the movie and even I'm annoyed.
yea was so annoying man
Horrible guy to watch movies with, bro can't even "react".
24:26 he voices Mohg from elden ring btw
Lupasan killed me when he said “All 5 Stars” when Bruce was running out of the police station.
This movie was fire. It was like a fine cigar. 3 hours of pure quality
I like the dude in the middle, He's actually trying to watch the movie.
Watching with dude on the right would be hell.. can't concentrate at all.
Batman doesn't kill anyone. He just drops foot-long shards of glass on a whole ass stadium of civilians
Kills people in every Batman series that isn't a kid's cartoon.
@@alphanerd7221 I mean, it would make sense for a lot of versions, like the older Ben Affleck portrayal or this particularly young and unhinged Vengeance-man... I just thought it was a stupid arrival idea with the glass roof
In case y’all didn’t know, they released a deleted scene with the Joker. Would recommend giving it a watch
35:54
completely caught me off guard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love this batman so much. This is a batman/Bruce that would adopt a recently orphaned circus child ( Alfred is tied to the circus in this soooo) AND think vigilante crime fighting is an appropriate for him.
Riddler's lucky he didn't kill Alfred. If there's one person you don't threaten connected to Batman, it's Alfred.
I loved this movie and loved watching it again with y’all. Robert and the rest of the class killed it. 🙂
Such a dope movie. The starting scene with the "fear is a tool" bit, and the scene where he's a beacon of light with his torch, they were awesome.
Batman: Somethings in my ass hmmmm. I can’t get that meme out of my head🤣
Honestly when Batman was being chased by the cops in the GCPD building I got massive flashbacks to when I tried to take on the entire precinct in Batman Arkham Origins
I still don't understand how batman had a whole serum of bane's venom, in his back pocket. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was just adrenaline
@@Leonardo-po7ht you call that adrenaline?!! 🤣🤣
@@kam_Horizen It's not me, It's literally in the BTS. It's written Epinephrine.
So happy you guys reacted to this!! Definitely one of my favorite movies- the dark and gritty vibes with the detective aspect just hit so well and makes me excited for future movies
Imagine watch the movie for the first time then ur friend beside you who already watch it keep laughing non stop for no reason
Kinda ruin the experience
12:08 , I’m so used to a Batman who uses just martial arts and gadgets to fight. But when this incarnation started using bats and rifles as melee weapons. Dayuum
35:53 Meanwhile the cat is ready to do what the pu$$y can't. Lol
I like how the entire movie Roshi and Lupa were like "take the whole city down ... burn it down".
But when Riddler put it in the work...
I'm sure someone else probably mentioned it, but Penguin is actually getting his own HBO Max show.
Man, I really like Lupa, but I feel like this movie is not meant to be watched cracking jokes every five seconds, I know that some shit Batman pulls may be funny but come on, it's a crime thriller, it's supposed to be serious
