You sir are a legend. Followed timing instructions set in the Isuzu manual for the 6VE1 3.5l. Put it back together and had zero compression on all cylinders.. Your video saved alot of extra swearing, confusion and head scratching. Now runs like a dream. Thanks for clarifying much appreciated 👍🏻
Thank you for this video-excellent explanation and this works 100%.My 3.2 D.O.H.C was only running on three cylinders after following the Haynes manual timing procedure and you are a saviour for getting my timing back "in phase" and running beautiful-Thanks again.
your video help me to get the car on timing tdc. i just don't under stand y there is other videos that people post showing tdc but did not work out for me. anyways...you are amazing. thank you for this video.
The single over head cam engines have a mark on the valve covers lining and placing the cam gear straight up in line with the V of the engine , look for those marks and everything else will be the same ... they are much easier to get set because they don't have to rotate several times to get the cams put in phase ...
On the 95.5 is it a single or dual cam ? I think if you just line up the gears back to there marks again you should be good to go.. Single cam for sure , the early dual cam heads still have a 2:1 or 1:1 ratio so you should still be able to set the gears at there marks as well and not have to open/remove the valve covers...
mine is a 96 isuzu rodeo 3.2 V-6 sohc and has all the same except only one cam one each head. i need to set the timing marks up on all, crank, left, and right bank, how would i go about this? they only show the dohc setup. Dean could you help me out. please!!!
I just stumbled on your video! :) I have a 95.5 isuzu rodeo with this type of engine (non interference) 3.2l v6 and my timing slipped because I got in a hurry and ill leave it at that. Now my question is can I do what you showed on the video to mine with out taking off the valve covers? Your wise and hopefully helpful comment on this would be great?
does this method also work a 2004 because I am about to buy a 2004 rodeo with a blown head casket and I am about to do the repairs myself I am used to rebuilding late model forda and Chevy and I my only import so far was a 2002 Toyota Camry with the 2.4
And from what I see I don't need mess with no valves or cames but from what you just did it pretty much a unbolt and replace the a rebolt right any info or advice will be so much appreciated thanks for the video
The 2004 Direct Injected Isuzu V6 is a freak show. I would recommend to anyone considering buying one to pass. They are good engines but they ARE interference engines and they are very expensive to fix.
I have a 96' Isuzu rodeo w/ 3.2 sohc , my problem is some besides me tried to set the timing without the valve covers off, and made it worse, so they brought the truck back to me saying it's all mess up. I'm stranded at the Pilot Truck Stop off exit 100 on I-81, in Pine Grove, PA in the back near the exit of the truck wash, could someone in the Area please come and help me! i've been here for almost 2 weeks looking for someone to help me the right way. Don't have money, and the truck stop missions have been helping me get to Massachusetts. the truck went from 60 to 30 to 15 and i thought the timing might have jumped and someone said the could reset it for me, and messed it up worse. the Catalytic converters were clogged so i cut them off, now need to get it going to continue my journey. today is thursday the 2nd and have to be out of the truck stop on or by sunday the 5th or i will be towed and no funds. someone please help.
All these videos are showing dohc, and i need one for the sohc. anyone got a video of the timing procedure for the sohc 3.2 belt driven. i got pics but wont let me show on here. e-mail me at davidbarrows55@gmail.com and i'll send the pics

95.5 could be a dual overhead setup , it was a special engine in troopers ...
Thanks!

Could bad timing cause passenger side not to work at all and plugs wet with engine oil, lots of smoke
Yes. If the 98 and newer V6 isn't timed properly, it will appear to only run on one bank.

I know this is old but this video only covers 98 and newer Isuzu's. 97 and older are different engines.

I'm thinking that year will have a direct injected motor and I'm positive if they time the same or not ... find out what engine it is for sure ...

Nope normally if the belt did break the valves wouldn’t get bent ... possibly if the tops of the pistons had a bunch of carbon build up ...
How do you do this on a di engine it is interfere
Karun, sep, repaear
Followed everything 16 different time. Isuzu is total junk
