It amazes me how open you guys are about how you do things and how you encourage others who want to start their own businesses. You truly seem to be wanting to help others to become successful. You are not worried about adding more competitors to the industry. Good for you and Matt. Those of us starting out greatly appreciate you guys!

I've lived long enough to know that if something is meant for you... it will be yours.. this is in all areas of life. No matter how "saturated" an industry is, if you believe in yourself and your product. It doesn't matter. I know not everyone thinks this way. I've always shared opportunities with others, never fearing that they'll "steal" the opportunity from me. But I also strive to look for the good in people and all things. 😊❤.. good luck to anyone looking to start a new business

I often ask my other family members to watch Wade's videos with me, so they can catch some of my vision. This video is one I have enlisted my family to watch again with me this evening. I really enjoy all your videos, but wow, this one hit home. I work full time anywhere from 45-50 hours a week, and there are some days I get home and candles just aren’t a priority. This really helped hit home what’s needed to succeed. One of the things I love about both your products is the amount of pride put into everything that goes into it. Great job guys!!

I agree. This video was extra inspirational. I love the gym, and some days I'm like no way. When I push, at the end I'm excited. My candle business will need that same mindset. Especially working a 10 hour day.

This video is exactly what my life is like. My name is Chad and I own Cozy Home Wax Company. I am a full time Mechanic and have been running my candle business for almost 2 years now. I would not change anything, I love operating and owning my own business. Everything Matt talked about is exactly what I have been through. I am not yet to the profit level that Matt is at, but I know I will get there. I loved the branding tissue paper idea that he uses. I will definitely look into that. The way Matt makes his candles and his process is very similar to how I make my candles and wax melts along with other unique creations. Thanks for posting this video Wade, there's a lot of great branding and process ideas here.

You have no idea how overjoyed/happy/excited I am that I stumbled upon this video! It’s so much great information in this video that I needed to hear but didn’t know I needed to hear! I’m currently in the process of starting my candle/soap/scrubs/rubs business! And I not only want to make products everyone can use but I also want to make products specifically tailored to men because so many ppl associate scents and smelling good to mainly feminine consumers, when really men love candles that smell good and they like smelling good too! So…seeing this video made but men, promoted by men just made me so happy and let me know that my ideas are on the right track…I just need to figure out how I’m going to execute my ideas! I love this informative video! 😎🙏🏾😁 I am soooooo scared to start my business..but I have a great starter kit and a whole 🕯️ candle station in the little apartment I live in with my mom and sister right now. I quit my job like an idiot thinking I could just work ubereats/doordash to pay my bills, help out at home, and fund my business.. LoL 🤣 so needless to say I found a simple job at a fast food restaurant with great hours off by 2 PM. So I will definitely stop making excuses and learn the candle making craft and start on Etsy and Instagram. I love your advice at the end of this informative video. Thank you so much guys! I want a dude candle 🕯️ now!😎 I don't plan on working for other people forever..so I need to start now so I can get out of this rat race eventually. Don’t be scared to start a business. You know what that fear is? It’s you telling yourself you’re about to embark into the unknown. I can admit even now I’m scared. I have a lot riding on what I do. But I know it’s up to me - and it’s up to you to be that change you want in your life. You’ll have wins, you’ll have losses, but all of it is tuition towards your education. You’ll love the ride. And when you have those few moments of quiet time alone, only you will recognize how far you’ve come. Your own self recognition should be reward enough. Go do it!

Thank You so much for this guys!! Im new to candle making and I too wanted to gear towards masculine scents and I appreciate the message at the end about keeping things to yourself. I announced that I was gonna be making candles and started up a Facebook, Instagram, LLC and I feel like I jumped way to quick lol. Not giving up but I've since been more silent and doing small sales till Im fully ready. Im only 3 month's in with a whole lot to learn so I really appreciate having 2 other Gentleman to look to for inspiration!!

I buy a LOT of candles and they are the D&W brand. They have a Lasting scent they burn long and they have scents like Black Leather, pipe Tabacco, and suede and wood scents they are the only brand i buy, will have to try your candles...

I initially discovered his company by looking up root beer candles. I also was trying to find an alternative to the Yankee cut grass scent they no longer offer.
Once I found out this is a one person operation, I decided I should order from him. If anything qualifies as a small business, it's a business made up of one person.

This is great, thanks. We're struggling with price point. How do you price a candle and charge for shipping and keep it within the customer's budget? In other words: why would I purchase a $20.00 candle and pay $6.00 to ship when I can get a candle at the grocery store? BTW, your website is very, very well done!!

I'd be interested to know how much Matt spent on advertising at the very beginning. It's fine spending $750 per month when you know your product sells and you have a steady stream of customers, but what about when you're new and awaiting your first sale? Do you go all-in and take the risk that it might all come to nought, or do you begin with a much smaller advertising budget which is less of a financial risk but on the other hand has a shorter reach?

This guy is WRONG about one thing! You can't just get a trademark and then sit back and not do anything with it. If you see that people are infringing upon it, you need to take action and get them to cease and desist. If you don't actually protect your trademark, you can potentially lose it by ignoring other people using it.
