- Since the M1 mac are actually pretty good, the question that no one really asked is if what used to be the best-used budget MacBook still any good?

I still love my MacBook Pro 2015 and here old school glowing Apple logo that makes here iconic and good looking. I still loving the keyboard that that she have the USB adapters. Something else is that wen I see my friends at college struggling with their new MacBooks that doesn’t have usb I laugh

This review was absolutely amazing.
Speaking of build quality, I dropped my 2015 MBP while open back in 2018. Made a nice solid dent in the chassis on the corner to the right of the track pad, so much so that the lid doesn't close completely flush anymore (but enough so it still sleeps). It's still going strong. The only real problem with these MBPs was the screen delaminating problem. I had to have the screen replaced, thankfully via recall/warranty.
bruh im using a late 2012 macbook pro retina. I just replaced the HDD with an SSD and replaced the battery. It works perfectly. I'll use it til it dies or I die

Great vid! I have this exact computer and I love it because of the ports (I use the HDMI and SD Card slot all the time), MagSafe, its upgradability, amazing display, and it's not so so much heavier or thicker than the next gen model pros.
I'm waiting for the (rumored) M1X 14 inch pro to be announced at WWDC in June to replace my laptop. I have the exact problem that my battery simply ain't what it used to be. Sure I could get it replaced for $150 or something like that, but I'll only have it for a few more months and low performing battery doesn't matter when there's a pandemic so I'm home all the time and can plug it in.
I'm hoping that the M1X 14inch pro will have Magsafe and the SD card slot again. It definitely won't have HDMI since it'll simply be too thin (and it's Apple, they don't give you ports) so I'll have to get a dongle for that.

I bought a 15" version of this laptop after watching your video. Works fine and was a good hold over until I got the 14" M1 Pro

This MacBook has it all. Mine is still going strong. I would love to own an m1 air but I always realise how amazing the 2015 mbp is. Great keyboard. Fantastic screen. Business look. Decent battery life. Mine last about 6-7 hrs. I’m a light user. Glowing Apple logo. Overall this is the real McCoy. Buy it while you can.
Thank you for this comment, I really didn't want to spend 1k on a laptop and I know all the new ones are good but I just didn't want them for their price so I was looking for an affordable one that was still more modern I guess. I've been watching reviews on this and I'm gonna have to go with this one.

My father in law is giving my son his to use for college.He hardly used it and is practically brand new. I’m glad I watched this video. Everyone is telling me macbook is best choice for college students. The new ones are too expensive for me. I’ll take a free 2015, barley used MacBook for now😂

I got a early 2015 retina 13 inch with a 3.1 Ghz i7 8gb ram for $350 last night. Only thing i have to do is change the battery out and up the storage on the inside.
@Dark Knight I got it off the Facebook market. It's been some time since and I paid $200 for a battery just for the issue to not actually be the battery. It was the OS and a few programs causing kernel panics. I solved them last week and I'm typing on it rn lol. so my current ran me $550 in the end and I replaced the 256 factory ram with Samsung evo pro 1tb ram via adapter. It runs beautifully now and battery life is amazing.

@@arlsss_ it's good. I'm using it mostly for surfing the net and it manages this fine. Excellent screen and body. I recommend to buy one if you can get it in good condition for a low price. Note the latest version of Mac OS it supports is Big Sur.

@@VistaPrevia I didn't update to BigSur. I installed it once but the ui is too ugly to get used to, so i stepped back to Catalina. But I upgraded to a 1 TB NVME Crucial P1 and now its really flying :-D

Good wallpaper snafu
I was debating on this and the new M1, but the massive performance boost in the M1 chip sold me. Yes it was a whole grand and then some. But in my opinion, it was vastly worth it. I can play majority of my old MMO games with it, which is good enough for me.

I use it as my main computer to edit my 1080p UA-cam videos, normal editing is fine but once you start colour grading or even fancy effects or transitions the fan kicks in and starts to lag. I’m on the base model with upgraded storage tho.

(Edit) If anyone is looking for the 2015 you’re better off getting the better CPU and 16gb ram. Some sellers throw in a new SSD and Battery as well. Mine is the 2.9Ghz CPU but I slacked and got the 8gb ram so it might not last as many years that I want it to.

I wouldn't discount the 2.9 i5 if you find one at a good price. See this video ua-cam.com/video/0afYsGenALQ/v-deo.html there's little, if any, difference in real world speed and it's supposedly a little quieter due to the fans not kicking on all the time. I bought the 2.9 i5 w/16 gigs of ram over the 3.1 w/8 gigs of ram, as that was my budget options at the time, and I couldn't be happier. I still use it to this day and will continue to do so until it dies. In fact I'm about to replace the thermal paste on the processor in the next couple of days.

Bought it, and had to take off the cooler thingy otherwise it wouldn't fit in the MacBook. And it was waaaay over-specced. 🙄
