- The MacBook Pro 2015 in 2022
The 13 in Macbook Pro from 2015 is nearly 7 years old, at this point. With the newest M1 Macbooks being readily available on the market, does this laptop still hold its ground or is it time to upgrade?

Still have my Mid 2015 15 inch MB Pro, with i7, Radeon graphics, 512Gb SSD and 16Gb of RAM. Still handles anything I throw at it. It might not be the fastest by today's standards but then I don't go around timing my daily work with a chronometer. Best Intel MB Pro Apple's ever made... My iPhone 8 Plus also still runs very well with the latest updates. Apple stuff really lasts !
that laptop is still perfect for most things.
I still have my Mid 2015 macbook that I purchased from eBay secondhand a few years ago. it's a 2.8Ghz Quad Core Intel i7, 16GB Ram , 1TB HDD. I also still have a Late 2009 27 inch i5 iMac with a 1TB Drive and 16GB Ram which I purchased new in 2009. Only thing I updated was the RAM.
Christof, I agree I have the same philosophy, I don’t need the latest and greatest Apple Tech. I’m still Rocking an Apple Watch 2😁
@@davebilson upgrade that HDD ASAP! don't care if you need the storage just get a pricier SSD then, an SSD should come first not RAM
@@davebilson Wow! That 15-inch looks like a specced out version! I also picked up a same spec model 16/512 for $622 in like new condition and I absolutely love everything about it
I'm a senior programmer, and my 15" 2015 MBP still allows me to do all my work 100% as fast as a 2022 MBP could. Plus, I was able to upgrade the storage myself!
Genuine question, wouldn't you get work done faster with the newer laptop?
@@user-fo8sn7mw6z Honestly I can tell you my 2015 doesn't affect my time at all. My virtual machine runs absolutely fine. And as all programming really is is typing, it requires no graphics acceleration or anything. I might lose 30 seconds or so booting up my VM, but as I only do that around once a week it's no big deal at all. Plus, I love my light-up Apple logo!!! :D
They removed lit up Apple logo on newer models! Whyyy?? Anyhow my 2015 2.8ghz still fast for day to day work😏👍
Will the 13inch work fine for web development
@@agubatanmesomachukwu Absolutely. I used a 2015 13" for 4 years and it was great. Web dev doesn't need much power
I have the same laptop 2015 mbp. I have upgraded the storage to 1tb. Feels like a new machine. Using it for my studies. Office package adobe browsing and watching videos. Nothing heavy. Best laptop I ever owned. Highly recommended in 2022.
is the RAM upgradable ?
@@mouhamadoulaminegueye6137 I don’t think it’s as simple as the ssd upgrade. Needs tons of tools and skills. There are videos on UA-cam how to do it however I wouldn’t do it myself.
@@danielpeti3885 alright i won't then, thanks a lot
@@mouhamadoulaminegueye6137 ssd upgrade needs 2 type of screwdrivers , new ssd and a connector case. For me all cost under £100. Takes about 10 mins to do it plus installation. Good luck
I want to also use this too please tell me how
Watching this video from my 2015 MacBook Pro 13 with the same specs. I absolutely agree with you ✔︎
I’ve had my 2015 from 2016 same Specs but 128gb and I finally just updated to the 14 inch pro! It’s still a powerhouse after all these years and is 10x better than some windows computers twice as expensive.
Whilst I currently have the 2021 M1 Macbook Air, and this video doesn't apply to me. I just wanted to say how well presented, structured and edited this video was - keep it up and you'll no doubt see views and subscribers skyrocket!
Ah the one that’s getting ripped off 😎
@@AyeThereGoMalco nope, I got mine for 500£
i`m watching this on my 2015 15" macbook pro. Amazing laptop. I use it mainly for music production and youtube/netflix. I have no reason for upgrade as it handles all my projects.
Same machine here and on Mojave currently. Mind telling me what OS are you on? Asking coz I am considering moving to
Big Sur (Monterey sucks a lot of CPU power and lags currently so)
@@anirudhdeshmukh I`m on Catalina! Seems like Big Sur is a safe update for us... I just didn`t update it because I`m afraid to break some of my audio plug ins.
I’m a graphic Designer and i have an mid 2015 256gb 2,5ghz 16gb ram and it works very fine with latest Mac OS, i only would upgrade the ssd size to 1tb.
Is there any improvement in its speed after upgrading it?
Im just shocked that your channel doesn't have hundreds of thousands subscribers already considering how well made videos you make. Keep it going!
Really nice video! I'm more of a Windows user, and I wasn't a huge fan of Macbooks (mostly because of the price) But it looks like these older Macbooks are really decent School - light use machines! 300$ for really nice build quality, good screen, nice battery life seems like a steal honestly. If I have the chance to get my hands on it for a decent price, I definitely will! Keep up the good work and good luck with your channel!
My answer: I did. 2015 early MBP with the lowest specs. It's SO slow. Even YT or Reddit. When I stream something it get's super hot and fans spinning like crazy. Now I am typing on my (new) MacBook Air 2020 with 512GB SSD and I love it. Great speakers as well.
I have a 2017 macbook pro 13 inch and I’m still happy with it.
Watching this on my MacBook Pro 2015 i7 16GB. I do absolutely recommend to look after a used one.
I bought mine for about 350€ back in 2021 for University and it deals with everything perfectly.
In my opinion one of the best used laptops for students and average consumers.
Hello, do you think it's powerfull enough to do vidéo editing ?
@@Claireradusha99 Nice, thank you ;)
Is anyone having issues with updating to macos 10.15?
I enjoy going back and watching videos like yours and feel that I would love to see a video that explains the differences between the memory dependency of previous models versus the current models. This means I would like someone to explain how certain programs can require more memory than others and how having an Apple silicon computer has changed that for the better or worst. Because I am only assuming that Photoshop takes up the same amount of memory no matter what model Apple device your using, but maybe I am wrong. I guess I am curious if the memory is better optimized on the silicon Macs if Photoshop took 6 GB of memory on my new M1 MacBook and I am not set to see a huge performance drop since the laptop can respond better than earlier models. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Why do you really need M1 for ... photoshop?? It's just 2d graphics. Even 300 dpi A4 prints are easly handled by 2015 MBP. Probably well speced out 2012 MBP would do fine.
Believe me that was one of the rarest videos I have watched on UA-cam recently. And that my dear is wonderful.
Keep in mind that a 2015 model is the oldest model supported by OSX Montery. So Monterey is probably the last update you'll ever be able to do.
Don't think so. It would probably get MacOS 13 Mammoth as it's pretty capable.
The mac makes you think you re looking in the future?😝
Earth shatterins specs not that specs dont matter..
Fanboy channel.🙈
@@AJsVideos mammoth ?
watching this on my 9 year old 15" MacBook pro retina. I never feel like I'm using an "old" computer despite its age, because everything works so seamlessly. I don't use graphic intensive apps so it's more than enough.
Still rocking my Mid 2015. Looking to upgrade the storage and replace the battery and hopefully use it for many more years to come.
I have a Macbook Pro Retina 2015, I've been trying to change it, but, really, it still works, so I tell myself, why do you want a new machine?
Bro I'm a graphic designer & industrial designer, I have a MacBook Pro 2015 15", it can handle photoshop, illustrator, indesign and Coreldraw, I only had an issue because I upgraded to Monterey and most design apps were crashing but when I reverted back to Big Sur it was all systems go.
Hell I have a 2012 15” MacBook Pro that totally kicks ass
I have the exact laptop used in the video and he’s right. This laptop could easily be a daily driver for almost anyone. Still runs well. It’s not the ‘90s anymore, tech lasts longer now.
Could I use this MacBook to produce
@@bloozy7350 if you mean with logic pro or something, I recommend going with the mid 2015 because it is much better suited to be able to run several different plug-ins at once and I'm a musician as well and I can't use my 2015 MacBook Pro for production/recording anymore because the fan runs full speed every single time.
@@AustinHollingerOfficial I still use logic 9!
all these people “my i7 still runs” lol I’m sure it does but we’re talking about the base model 2015 ones 🤔
Nice vid! Very valid points and glad to see the layman’s needs addressed with a good reality check on actual use cases. I’m still rocking my mid 2014 MBP 13 inch and although it does support OS Big Sur, I can’t recommmed it over sticking with Mojave.
My 2015 15inch MBP still goes strong in 2022. Doing dev (Go, Python, iOS, macOS) and all works fine, including running K8s with a bunch of pods. I don't see any reason to invest around 2-3k Euros in a new, flashy stuff.
I still edit graphics on this model and it holds up well! Runs adobe creative suite like a dream! Only considering upgrading in the near future because I know they will stop issuing software updates for this model soon.
Can u tell me if i should buy this macbook pro or not? My basic usage is 1080p video rendering as a freelancer, and other than that coding, as a student. Will this specific laptop be able to handle Premiere Pro 2022 that comes with the Adobe Suite?
@@doodedits I have exactly the same question. I edit simple 1080p videos for my client's social media (Facebook, UA-cam, Instagram and TikTok) and i need an affordable laptop with the capacity of running well enough Adobe Premiere. I've never used MacOS before, so this will be my first. Does this MacBook do the work (or do the i7 15'' one)?
@@mario.molina.musica hey there Mario, hope you're doing well! After some good research and opinions from macbook 2015 users, i have been told that we should Not buy it for the purpose of video editing. As it does throttle when you're rendering and the keyboard becomes uncomfortably hot to touch, it goes wayyy loud. I was too much of a fan of the macos and the force touch trackpad, and i was convinced to buy a MacBook Pro, but then this person struck me with the truth, and here we are. I would recommend if you really want a MacBook specific for video editing, go for the dedicated graphics one, the 15" ig. But still i would say you can get a pretty decent Windows laptop in this price range if you're not Mac specific. I found one in the same price, a Dell Inspiron 7559, having 4gb Nvidia graphics, i7 6th gen cpu with 16gb ram and ssd. Try looking more for a good deal, I'm sure you will probably end up with a success! Hope this helps brother. 🤝
@@doodeditsThanks a lot for your answer! Sure it helps, but in Mexico i haven't found something around the same price, i looked for a Mac because i've heard about how well optimized they are so they work at least for six years, i looked for this 13in 2015 Mac and the i7 16gb 15in 2015 (close to $750 max) that seems to also work very well and i found refurbished ones in Amazon. Also the Dell you mentioned i don't know why here is close to $2,000, so sadly it's not an option and i don't think i want to buy a second hand one (people here are tricky). I want a new one or at least a refurbished one. Any other recomendation (Mac or Windows) or do you think i need to keep saving money for another one?
@@mario.molina.musica then I'd say you should go for the 15" Macbook with dedicated graphics, if that is the case. They surely are optimised, if it were cheaper here, I'd have bought the 15" too. I think you should watch some benchmarks for your software and then go for it, if it is satisfactory. Best of luck man! I really hope that what you're paying is worth the hastle
I just got one after seeing this video, I'm glad I watched it and the laptop is asthonishing. I found one right away and picked it up for 300€. I have a 2021 Dell Latitude i7 from work, yet I like the 2015 MacBook Pro better. It feels so premium, it is the epitome of laptop design. The seller even threw in a second one: a 2013 MBP and that one is every bit as good. OK it is a tad slower but the 2013s came with 500GB SSDs by default!!!! That is more than most models today. Only the Mac Studio comes with the same amount of storage by default! All others start with 256GB, even the MacPro!
@Benabdallah Youssef They make the definition of bloatware, so I bet. Also try to bloat less yourself... Think twice wether you really need 4K video or 50 megapixel stuff when the client uses it on a website or Instagram. And clients pay for your time, so in the end it does not matter how fast the software works... By default they get D700 shots from me (12MP) which I still edit in CS1, and nobody knows. The software flies.... so lightweight for the system. Or I put my D850 in 12mpixel JPEG, those you can sell without post processing LOL!
@Benabdallah Youssef Videoediting with FCP will work like a breeze on it, including 4K, with Premiere, it will be slow as molasses.
Im a student and still use my unibody mac from 2009...still works fine with an ssd upgrade 🤓
i totally agree. haha.. you only feel your device new for few days and that what? just another over priced device you bought that you can barely utilize its full performance.
I’m upgrading from my maxed out mid-2014 15” MBP to a maxed out M1 Max 16” MBP because my 2014 one finally died :( it went through three SSDs in a year and the Mac repair shop had never seen anything like it.
I wouldn’t need to upgrade if my old one still worked, major props to Apple for that.
What I’ve got is a 128 GB version. But battery is done for after 7 years and speakers got blown this past Christmas. In 2015 the ssd upgrade wasn’t possible but now that it’s possible I’ll upgrade to a 1TB and replace battery and speakers. Oh and also replace thermal paste on cpu. 😉
Hey, do you edit videos on it ? I'm hesitant to by one right now 🤔
@@Herghun hello, I had my brother try a few times but it does photoshop just about okay however render and animations are above its paygrade sadly. But I mainly use it for music production and playing live so GarageBand, logic and other music software and it handles well. But I’ll recommend something newer for video editing.
@@harold12A Ok thank you for the advice Harold !
Couldn't have been said better, but this video makes me feel rather indulgent/guilty. I just upgraded from my faithful mid-2014 15" to the new 16" base model. The impetus for doing so was that a row of 4 keys, as well as the left command button, ceased to function altogether, after sporadically working for a while. Took it to the Apple Store and it would've been a $480 repair but I was more inclined to go the bluetooth keyboard route or continue to fuss with the virtual Accessibility keyboard. However, I was lured in by the new tech. I hope this new one serves me as well as my 2014. I'm still keeping it around, typing this message (with the aid of the Accessibility keyboard) on my old friend. Regarding the novelty of upgrading to the latest and greatest, I see it could be fleeting for some things but I never failed to appreciate this machine. Sure, the coddling phase came and went after a year or two but the admiration was always there.
There's a message for you in the last paragraph about the production of this video.
Tl;dr: I Agree. If you need a "cheap" laptop you won't be disappointed with a 2015 MBP.
Thanks for a great video. My computer is a W10 i7 laptop from 2017, very low specced. Still I've done several albums (one of the synth based actually), learned using blender, playing space emulators and used it for all kinds stuff. I can be creative, do art and dwelve into games. And civil stuff like banking, work related and whatever. I haven't got a good reason to buy a new one yet. No other reason than luxury.
Suddenly a MBP mid 2015 (15", i7, 16GB, Radeon, 500GB SSD) fell into my lap (for free though), and oh my.. everything runs at least twice as fast. I can actually preview using cycles in Blender, newer (bloated, forgetting core functions) versions of software like Reason Studios runs like a breeze, and even though the display has the stagelight syndrome (which I will fix some day I guess) it is superior to the PC in any way. I could mention a lot more, but in reality I'm comparing two old laptops where one them is 6-7 times more expensive, so..
Yeah, the 2015 MBP is a useable choice in 2022, but so is a low end 2017 PC laptop. The MBP is just 10 times better and more fun 🙂
Btw, I hear rumbling from you hitting/tapping your table on my monitors, and some pops from the voice too. You could avoid some of this by using an EQ on your voice and use a low cut setting at around 100Hz.
This looks like an interesting video as I just sold my 2015 15" MBP (16GB, 1TB). However, I started watching but had to stop due to the loud popping in the mic due to 'plosives'. I hope you don't mind if I offer some technical advice here? Set your microphone off-axis i.e. not directly between you and the camera and then simply point the mic at your mouth, not your mouth at the mic if that makes sense? It's a simple trick that works well and avoids having to buy a pop shield. Great to see a UK UA-camr by the way! (Liked)
Thanks for your advice! Really appreciated will bare that in mind next time 😁🤙🏻
A couple of pops and you stopped watching the video? Do you leave the house?
Watching this video has convinced me to not buy a new mac but "recondition" mine which is the same one in the video. The speakers are total static, the battery is weak, and the rubber feet are all gone. For the price of $85 dollars I can address all three. No-brainer considering I don't need too much of a powerhouse for things like graphics.
Have the exact same model except mine is a mid-2012, only I don't have the retina display. I've upgraded the HDD to an SSD of one terabyte and maxed out the ram at 16. It runs like new, and of course, the speakers are garbage but I have a Bluetooth speaker sitting next to it, an echo dot to be exact. ($29) I'm actually looking to upgrade to a 2015 15-inch MacBook Pro retina which is running now between $300 and $400.
Well said! I still have a 2015 mbp i7 8gb ram 256 flash drive. It is lightning fast for what I do. I thought about getting a new one but….why? The battery still lasts hours and it still does its job even when using photoshop! Plus, I have ports that most macs don’t have now. Love it!
Chuck in a 2TB SSD.. it will be better then anything “new” macbook
Just got that lovely MBP Retina Mid-2015 15" and installed Xubuntu Linux OS (22.04.3 LTS) on it. It rocks! Written down this on it in October 2023.
Still rocking the iPhone 2016 SE and a mid 2010 MacBook Pro upgraded with 16G ram and SSD. You should get at least 10 years out of a Mac.
I love the comment "a two day weekend never seems long enough" !! It's so true, just first time I heard someone say it like it's common knowledge. Sweet !! I'm not alone.
"Then F*** it, this will more than do the job" I just subscibed to your channel !!
Cheers! Really appreciate it! 😁
I am still with 2014 15' MBPro Retina, 2GB nVidia GeForce + 2GB Intel Iris Pro , 1TB SSD, 2.8 GHz quad core i7.
Nine years later, the only thing needing upgrade is the battery that doesn't last as long after 1000 charging cycles.
Everything else runs as fast as the day I bought it to do graphic design.
I will replace the battery and keep it, but when the time comes, I'll probably move to a custom built laptop running Linux as macOS is way too restricting for my taste.
I recently just got the Macbook Pro, 13inch 2015. it's my first and not so bad for starter...
The thing is security updates for older machines.
I have a MacBook Air 2017 which is starting to be too slow for me, I heard the 2015 MacBook Pro is faster than the MacBook Air that I have. Should I get this or just get something newer?
I have a 2017 27" Imac but I sit at the Desk working 12 hours a day (not on Mac) So when I get done with day I would like to just relax on couch and edit videos. My Son just upgraded to new Macbook pro so gave me his 2015 15" macbook pro. Needed battery and since I was in there I put in a 2tb SSD. Now I have my evening Video Editing machine.
I was using a lenovo thinkbook from 2016 up to now and, it was amazing what that notebook could do. It cost around maybe 400-500$ back then. but this year it started to be bad, the plastic on it started to peel off or as soon as you disconnected it from the charger within half an hour it was dead and windows support stopped maybe 2 years ago. I upgraded to the same laptop as you, and I can say that this laptop can do things. Very satisfied, we don't need to loose thousands on new hardware.
still using 2012 MacBook Pro 13 inch for music production here 😂
I bought one of these super cheap just to learn MacOS. it's nice for watching videos on my dinner table. I have way better laptops but I always wanted to learn MacOS. So here I am.
I'm sure u will be very popular soon , nice videos !
I'm still using the MBP MID 2014 15inch (11,2)
The honest to goodness truth that is well known but not often said enough. Thank you Josh.
I hear that you can’t use zoom virtual background without green screen in 2015 mbp as it still on the intel 5gen processor? It is true?
Yes
underrated channel, informative and funny content👍
Appreciate that dude 👌🏻
You relieved me better than my psychologist.
Mission accomplished 🫶🏻
I recently bought a 2015 MacBook Pro for around $330US with shipping and it runs the latest MacOS Monterey just fine. I did get a 1TB external drive since the internal one is only 128GB but other than that it does everything I need. And even before that I was still using an older 2012 unibody. Apple builds their products to last and that’s why I stuck with them.
where did you buy it from?
@@tonic777 from Facebook Marketplace. I don’t think the seller really knew the worth or it would’ve been more.
I bought mine 2015 2.8ghz 512gb for $280 today. I drove 45min to pickup tho. I beat you by 50 bucks😏👍
I brought my MacBook Pro 2015 and I just hope it does really well for me.
After the 2015 macbook pro, I’ll buy a new one.

Owning a mid-2015 MBP 15, it started to fall fast, especially with Big Sur 11.6.4. Improved a bit with a bump up to 11.6.5, but didn’t think it could help
what do you mean by fall fast?
I am actually watching this on a mid 2015 15" MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. It still works fine for my normal daily tasks (including doing my income tax paper work :-) ). Since it won't support the latest MacOS, I chose to upgrade now to a 14" MacBook Pro M2 with similar specs (will be delivered soon). Since the mid 2015 MBP is Intel based, installing Linux (in my case Fedora) will be easy and this will surely squeeze out a couple of more years of usage. It still looks brand new - the build quality, diyplay and speakers are excellent, even by todays standards. I hope that my my new MPB M2 will live up to the same standards.
Definitely still a power horse in 2022. I’ve used this thing for music production with Logic Pro X for the past 2 years and the CPU gets a little stressed every now and again when bouncing large projects or processing large midi files, but overall it’s great even after 7 frickin years!! Save yourself some money and buy used👌🏽
How long do you think it will last
Keep abusing it and prepare to spend more mony on latest model😏
-oh wow, I didn't know 11 months already passed in 2023! time flies!!-
lol good one!!
yes from my 2015 15’ MBP for over 6 1/2 years the M1 MAX is worth the upgrade.
Good to know. I was wondering if I should just squeeze a few more years out of my 2015.
When the 2016 came out with the weird keyboard, I bought a closeout 2015. Serving me well so far. Good keyboard, no touch bar, has ports. Hoping the next air has a USB A/C/magsafe, and I'll switch to that. Otherwise a new Pro I guess.
Software has been dropped for 2016 MBP and Lower. Still is a capable machine . still using my i7/2.2Ghz-15MBP.
No
2:25 Yes, but with updates, the OS takes up more space and the box doesn't get updated with new info does it?
I love the video! Been looking into buying a preloved 2015 Macbook Pro.😁
PS: You might want to put a pop filter on your mic, your popping every now and then.😅🙏
The first chemist UA-camr I know, nice video bro
I've got the MacBook Pro, mid-2015, 2.5GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 mem, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB graphics. I've replaced fans & a swollen battery. And it still works well EXCEPT--CONTACTS has gone kaput! The pinwheel spins incessantly (for minutes at a time!), it REFUSES to put new entries into my chosen categories (they default to "All Contacts"), it repeatedly CRASHES almost every time I create an entry--it's becoming almost unusable. Remote tech support couldn't help; Genius Bar suggested I reinstall the os--& I'm afraid to! (& I realize now, this baby can't accept any os past Monterey). I do mostly webinars, conferences; music recording in Garage Band (I hate the newest GB! More hassle than the old version). I miss the built-in CD/DVD player! I do love that it syncs with my iPhone SE. But no way I'll ever spend another $3500 on a new MacBook!! What to do about malfunctioning Address Book???
Have you consider swapping the ssd? I love the 2015 mbooks pro and air 17 so much bacause u can change the storage.. get the mvme adapter and a 1 tb samsung 980 drive. They have decent quality and are mlc based. Sold 10s of them, no returns or complains from 2015 mbook users
Hi sir
I’m a designer
I mostly used photoshop, after effect and premium pro… I buy MacBook Pro 2015 15inch in 2022
Your suggestion sir buy or not
Get the M1 macbook air
I bought mine used for around 300 euros. but in some tasks it can be a bit slow. so would it be wise to upgrade ram and harddrive to a ssd?
depends if your an american youtuber. they all think they need the newest maxed out macbooks to edit easy videos they make in there room haha.
Truth 🔥
Just a quick note to anyone that sees this, the 15inch model has a quad core cpu
to 2015 users, how noisy is this macbook? the reason why I want to change my laptop is the huge noise the fans make, I can't focus for too long on anything because of it.
I was thinking of a 2015 macbook pro but I have 3 questions:
1) How is the fan noise? Does the laptop run hot?
2) Is it heavy?
3) Hows the battery life now? If I buy a used one, does it always need to stay by an outlet?
most people that get the macbook 2015 pro nowadays also get a battery replacement kit for around 80 USD, and it then works great since this was the last year of macbooks where you could actually go into the laptop and change things (you can also upgrade your SSD too!). That's what I would do, just get the laptop in excellent condition on backmarket or amazon for around 500USD then spend another $100 on a case and a new battery and you are set.
Didn’t change mine until the battery can’t hold anymore and the Wi-Fi network card is shut down it tells me no hardware installed for the Wi-Fi settings I had to change it I had to upgrade
Again coming back to your question about people who do graphic designing or music production want a powerful laptop yet don't have budget to spend $1000 of dollars to spend on a laptop what should they do ?
Excellent video on an older MacBook! Thank you. 😁
I have late 2013 MacBook Pro and I need to do an upgrade because my MacBook don’t get new OS versions anymore. At the same time I don’t want to buy new MacBook as they’re too expensive. Would 2016-2017 be a good choice?
As a hacker, a friend, and a cyber security researcher. I still use my 2011 MacBook Pro even doe I own an M1Max with 64 of ram.
I personally don’t run Mac OS on my 2011. I run Kali Linux.
Ohh ps my external display I use with my 2011 is the 30” Cinema Display which is now over 18 years old! It’s stunning how far you can push these machines and they will keep going!
I have a 2011 MacBook pro and am interested in trying the Kali Linux
15-inch model has
2.8GHz Quad-Core with Hyper Threading
16GB RAM 1600mhz (32GB would been nice)
AMD Radeon 370x 2GB (6GB would have been better)
and the SSD & Battery can be updated
2880x1800 60Hz Retina display is still good
Thunderbolt allows for external GPU
I can't complain too much aside from the laptop is too thin.
not ventura os supported!
I Just want a good MacBook to learn to code, is the 15-inch 2015 MacBook pro worth it? any recomendation.
Good video to the point for someone who's searching for an advice.
I have a mid 2015 15” 2.2ghz i7. Does about everything I need but my new job needs dedicated video. Should I get a used 2015 with a video card or the M2 air?
You are so right! I have the exact same MacBook. Why upgrade if he still delivers? I don’t need M1 power.
Still have my MacBook Pro 13 with i5 and 8gb ram… Its running monterey and Its running fine for me…
Now That its Not getting the newest macos anymore the Price dropped even More… just got a 2015 mbp base model for 200€ with a new battery…
what's the best OS to use for this version of Macbook?
I’m currently using the same 2015 MacBook Pro as you. I’m only really considering an upgrade because this is the last year I am eligible for a student discount.
Thank you for the video. You have a great microphone but you could be getting more juice out of it if you reduce your plosives by speaking indirectly to the microphone (in cardioid mode) with your breaths flying past the capsule, or get a pop filter. Thank you again for the review.
you erned my like and subscription the second I heard that you're a fellow chemist.
Ok so... my opinion about macbooks (I am an apple user) is that... they have a nice design but when it comes to productivity windows laptops are faster.
I have 3 macbooks - a pro 13 m1 16 gb ram; an air 13 m1 16 gb ram and an air 13 early 2015 8 gb ram.
M1 is fine, but still... in my field of work I am using office suite - especially word and excel. Again, a middle range windows laptop it runs smoother and faster.
When it comes to the early 2015 air model... even if it still can be used (in 2022) for my needs - again windows wins the combat, from my point of view.
A 2015 windows laptop will open faster, will run all the programs such as: adobe reader, word, excel, internet tabs smoother and faster then a 2015 mac, even if we talk about pro or air base model.
Maybe is about optimisation (i am not an expert when it comes to tech) but windows it feels faster to be used then macbooks.
i have macbook pro 2015 early and im IOS developer should i upgarde it or not because the new update is not coming.
for what i use it for, it does the job. maybe now i'll wait until it goes out but i do have to backup my stuff. any ideas for a good MacBook pro external back up? maybe do a review on something that will help me pick the right external hard drive to back up my stuff on my MacBook. thanks again...
Planning on buying one for animation, video/photo editing, and school work on the go. Maybe some light gaming. I know many will say get the m1 air but most of my programs work on windows which i can port on a intel based macbook. Maybe as time progresses i will switch as soon as they have a bootcamp version for arm based chips.
Hi can we replace with gen 4 m.2 ssd’s? Which have read and write speed of 4150mb/s
Hi Josh, Thanks for your video, It is very practical. Can you please tell me One thing. Till will Macbook pro 2015 will receive its iOs Updates from Apple? If I buy a second and today, will be work for 2-3 years perfectly without any software problem.
