    I just bought my first Audi an 05 Allroad with the 4.2. It had the chain rattle I knew this going into it. Got it home cracked it open and every chain guide was shredded seconds away from total meltdown. So my point here I had to dig deeper than expected to sanitize things and I wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge of these cars. I like a challenge but this thing is ridiculous.

    Thinking about it of course it makes perfect sense that clutch in and starting on a regular manual may accelerate thrust wear but I'd never considered it.

    Excellent tech talk amazed a high revving engine can last with that mileage. I would of though the high revs would soften the spring poundage over that time period. Its must be a favourite for the privateer on a limited budget.

      Yeah the springs take a beating, it’s why we replace them every refresh!

    Enjoyed your video, very informative, amazing attention to detail. My only concern was that the seals to prevent people tampering with the engine after it leaves you were lying in a poly bag at the bottom of a trolley. Surely they should be under lock and key to prevent sticky fingers taking them and selling them to unscrupulous persons in the sport.

    Why haven’t you got “oilpans” on your engine stands to catch the dripping oil? 🤔 instead of having it dripping on that nice shiny floor.. 😊 great video as usual 👍

    Why not change the valves? When I was racing bikes I always changed them during a rebuild. This was back in the 70’s and 80’s, maybe the material is better now.

    Great video !. As they build up a useage profile over time, will they switch from a time/mileage based oil change regime to a sampling and condition based one ?
    As you are changing piston rings, do you give the bores a light hone to allow the new rings to bed in on mineral oil on the dyno ? I assume yes ?

    • @REPerformanceUK
      @REPerformanceUK  2 роки тому +1

      The cost for chemical analysis is quite expensive for a team with so many cars so we would make our advice based on findings, what fluids are used etc.
      We don’t hone the bores, they are alusil so don’t take to it!
      I don’t touch mineral oil, run in on what you run it on…
