I think you should advertise the car now, and give the buyer the option of stock, mild or mad spec engine 😬👍 bespoke build with a sliding scale sale price depending on spec.
You could build it stock, then a buyer comes along, saying, can I have it with 600hp and it’s got to come apart again.... #justsaying 👍😎
I think the head should rule the heart. Go with the most viable cost effective option. Turn it around, stock and make a few quid👍
I agree with those who say do a raffle, it makes really good content . I also think the other good option is to sell it first and let the new buyer choose their own spec.

Could be wrong but is it simalar to what's happened to the TT piston/engine on saving salvage?

Looks very similar to a TT issue Dean @ saving salvage is facing , in an ‘amplified’ edition I believe it is. Lack of compression on cyl2 eventually led him to strip it down and he the rings had sh1t themselves, disintegrated and left remnants in the sump/strainer/pick up along with bits of chewed up piston . The piston looks very much like yours. His cyl wall showed little by way of damage either. Is this a common issue in these then?
RE the TTRS, its had a few bits for a stock(normal daily) car, be interesting to see if the car had a remap when the ECU turns up.

Give that bore a hone at the machine shop, take it to top size and see how it looks then. You’ll be sizing new rings anyway. Great channel 👍🏻

Hi Ricky, Is there anything within the current jobs you are doing where you could make a deal with the owner so he get's an upgrade at a good price and you get a standard use block etc? If not go by what's cost effective which gives you what you require and quick turnaround on the car. Good luck with it and keep us informed of your progress.👍👍

Ricky do a new stock block build save the money and when you sell it put the funds into your lovely blue track car as it is going to need all the help it can get 😁their would be a bigger sales market for a reliable stock new engined ttrs than a modded one because it was done right at REperformance yes you can give your self a pat on the back because you deserve it bro cheers from down under ps that ttrs is worth about 35 to 40k in australia

Go stock with a new block although I like the idea of build to spec but I would think there is some risk to that
Hello bud. Just done a stage 2 on a 2021 TTRS. Would you be interested in anything stock such as the airbox, intercooler, downpipes, mid pipes etc? The parts have only covered 5k? Also I have the alloy fuel cap......
Please keep the melted pistons for me as I would like to use them as ashtrays :D How difficult will it be to convert it from manual into DSG? I have a crazy idea spinning in my head but still an idea :)
Go big or go home. Make it an absolute blinder of a TTRS, with a full engine build, BIG turbo, all the bells and whistles. Make some content with it and generate value with it being a REPerformance build…. Do it!
I don't know if it helps but I've got an A4 B7 flywheel and clutch pressure plate that you can have, and the (A4 B7) ECU

I’ve seen this issue on another channel not a RS but a mk2 TT On saving salvage. Was there a manufacturing issue with pistons on these cars??
"Comfort Zone" I'll say, as and when and if I had the money this would be the thing I'd do for my next car. Having an establishment such as yours, sorce/sort(source...piss pour spelling) a car, and subsequently look after it would be wonderful. Now I just need to get on the graft and get the money together.
How about rebuilding the engine with a mild power upgrade and then raffle the car off once it is refurbished?

I’ve been toying with a gti golf, looking a r golf’s too, rs3’s are out my budget but a TT rs wasn’t even on my radar.
Its a shame you wouldnt swap it down for a 2.0T ea888.3 with a garrett turbo, happy to help with that :) Putting a built 2.5 into my Cupra R ST would be great swap out

if car is a decent stock example I wouldn't mess about with it by doing a built engine. I think you would move it on easier it been a good clean stock example!

I was having the same thoughts. If it's a standard bore would +.5 mm clean it up and new pistons and rings? Are plus .5 mm pistons available ?
I’m from the other side of the planet so don’t know values and interest of cars over there but for the $1500 extra to build the engine would it be worth building it then leaving the rest of the mods on the car instead of returning to stock? Would it bring in the extra $1500 when finished?
Cool project. Can't you get aftermarket, oversized pistons as you would with Mahle for a GTI? That would give you OEM but cost less?

Bud only do it if you're going to keep it. It's the way with old cars, 55 plate BMW 120d 150K miles - new alternator, turbo, x4 injectors, uprated FMIC, Koni Active dampers, Eibach Pros spring, BMWP front strut top-mounts, rear shock top mounts and bottom mounts, front & rear ARB bushes and drop-links, idler/pulley/tensioner and belts, front wheel bearing steering rack, radiator & condenser, rear left drive-shaft and ABS sensor, repaired i-drive computer & BT module, remapped to 300lb-ft (200BHP) would need to uprate the torque convertor, only the best for Bertha; About £10K in repair bills only worth about £2K but I like Bertha she got nice comfy suspension that I worked on getting tailored to my tastes for dailying or hooning on a journey when hit I a good A/B road (Koni Active damping)...I keep a (dirty) weekend car currently Boxster type 987 gen 2, but even with PASM and DSC V1, the 19s tyres don't have much sidewall and comfort as daily suffers or may be I'm just getting old and need to buy a Jag...

I've read of quite a few TTs & TTRS with pistons like that.
Are they known to be a weak point as my brother has a 2008 TTs.
Yeah the CEPA/CEPB pistons do fail, the CZGB that went into the PFL RS3 had revised pistons.

1) How much would this car be to buy? I'm interested. 2) If the labour and 83mm parts to rebuild the damaged engine are £1,500 more than OE parts then that would be my preference for a stroker but much stronger than OE. 3) Would £15K inc VAT buy that?
Yes it will be up for sale and I’ll be aiming for about £15k. The rods and pistons alone are £5k so with the machining and build will be more than £1500 for the big engine spec.
Well if you want to sell it today Rick inclusive of the "big engine spec" (with a view to returning when budget permits for a larger turbo and intercooler) then I'm your boy. Boots to be new PS4. Everything else on trust...

Bulbils a stock engine, and spread the love of a solidly built engine (unless…).
Do it with a built engine sell it with all the engine built for power and work will come back more desirable knowing its stronger than stock
why dont you build the car over a series of few videos to quite a nice spec then use it as REperformance first raffle car. Your friends with the Darkside lads and theyve done that with a few cars now so you could get any advice from them.

Who doesnt want a built 5cyl? I say build the engine and sell the car for more money. Someone will want it, I want it, but depends how much it would cost. Audi TTRS with built engine ready to be tuned with bolt ons and software, FRESH from you guys...are you mad? Its gonna sell before you even build it! State how much you want for it and im sure your phone wont stop ringing after the video goes live. 👍😎

I think you shouldn’t get a engine of eBay could cost you more if you want to flip the car, the swap idea sounds like one to follow, have you thought of raffling the car at £10 a ticket as this vid has had 7k views if only half bought a ticket……..
