I think Far Cry 4 is in many ways my favorite of the games. It improves on so much of what came before and it gets rid off some of the less than refined stoy elements of 3. And you excellently described why I love it so much. Great video! Looking forward to your other Far Cry videos.
11:00 The towers are harder? I never noticed because I always just used the helicopter to skip to the top lmao. I got really good at landing those things on small platforms.
I don’t get the love for 2. Maybe it’s because I saw Apocalypse Now like 15 years before far cry 2 existed (thus the story isn’t special as it’s just a copy paste Heart of darkness) But I love the setting of FC2… that’s about it. The combat is awful. The AI is just as a bad and I think it really boiled down to teenagers who played it at the time. FC3/4 are so much more refined and enjoyable to play to me
"While one would insist that a mausoleum be protected at all costs, the other already has its contents listed on Ebay." - Probably the best description of Sabal and Amita that I've heard.
When I first played this game back in the 360 era I don't even know the existence of the far cry genre, I just saw it in a random shelf at the local game store and just try it out. Turns out it's the most fun I had in a while and still remains my top 3 far cry games to this day, for me my all time favorite is far cry 5 but far cry 4 has a special place in my heart and no matter what people said about this game, I'll always love far cry 4
Far Cry 4 is the best far cry game for me, the mechanics of 3 with a better story, yes I said better story and a better villain. Lots of people romanticize their nostalgic memories of Vaas because we first played it as kids and it imprinted on us, play it again today and then play 4, you'll agree with me, 4 has a better story and villain.
It’s crazy this vids coming out rn cs my moms been playing Xbox souly cs she loves far cry 4 sm, she played and was instantly hooked she’s on her way to 100% the game
It was the first Far Cry I played. It will always hold a special place in my heart. Played every other game up to far cry 3 and for me this is the best one by far
I love the world of this game, I did like every side quest I could find, all the dlc, and everything. This is still my favorite far cry game out of them all
Far Cry 4 is my favorite, but I just picked up 5 for the first time and now I'm undecided but loving it so far, but I'm only 12 hours in so I can't vote. On Series X 4 is 60fps enhanced. It's also worth noting there is a rather large difference from the 7th console generation version vs the 8th. The PS4/One version has long drawl distances, wind and better particle effects. When you fly the trees also fully render, while in the PS3/360 version they would spin out and fade because the low RAM couldn't render them.
This is when video game graphics reached their peak before reaching diminishing returns. Crazy hardware requirements for games that look like throw up.
I am the only one that no tag enemies in this kind of game, I only tag a few enemies in Far Cry 4 by accident by using the sniper scope, but in games like Sniper Elite, I never tagged enemies, I only used my sniper rifle and to the enemies that I could see, tagging enemies is boring, like magically you can see everywhere they are.
Part 4 is one the greatest games ever made. The options on missions, who to follow, the hunting animals, the checkpoints, the 4 fortresses. The free roaming, different weapons to chose the countless other mini missions.... ❤❤❤❤ Remake it pls!!!
first game i got on ps4.. Played out every ending and being 13 I remember reflecting about how the two main rebels are evil in their own way and realising that Pagan min wasn't actually the bad guy. Ubisoft caught lighting in a bottle twice from fc3
I literally just started replaying this game again and it still holds up so well. Even the graphics look good and if you have it on series X it runs at 60fps which is so nice.
I remember doing one mission with saving chemical lab. And when you go into lab you will get high and "Mc Punjabi-Jogi" starts playing. I knew the song from my childhood even though I'm not even close to India. It surprised me and i started vibing even more than i vibed to "Make it bun dem" in FC3
Ajay actually had a pretty troubled backstory that is easily missed. He was a troubled youth that would constantly get in trouble with the law through gang violence but then turned an eye towards the US military where he served. It’s easily missable though but it’s probably why he adjusts to his environment really quick.
I borrowed this from my friend in the 6th grade it was the first truly gory open world game I had played, I had to return it before I could finish it but I Copped this baby for 3.99 on the steam winter sale and have been loving it with the same fondness as I did then.
It has been ten years man, wtf.. I remember watching far cry 4 release when I was in my senior middle school days and amazed by the Himalayas and the hilly map of this game.
I’ve found the video that perfectly describes all my feelings on farcry 4. An almost perfect game with just a few small things holding it back, which can really be overlooked just for the sheer fun of the rest of the game. They could have done some stuff differently or better but I love it. People talk about it being farcry 3 again but look at it like this: what’s wrong with perfecting your product? Farcry 4 took everything far cry 3 did and built on it, streamlined it and made it more fun. If you go to 3 after 4, it almost feels barebones in a way. Far cry 3 is the rolling shell, far cry 4 slapped a v8 motor in and gave it a paint job.
Idk if you're going to read this comment, but I'm really fascinated with how much more in depth discussion is revolved around Far Cry 4 than there is to 3. Yeah 3 is more popular and it's the one where it's most unanimously regarded as a really good game. But I rarely see any debate for far cry 3 where the stance leans towards negativity and everyone seems to have the exact same interpretation of the story. In contrast, I feel that Far Cry 4 provokes a way more divided discussion where it seems there isn't like one singular interpretation that is agreed upon. I've seen people hate on Amita and Sabal and others really appreciating their conflict. I've been a diehard fan of this game and I used to be very on the fence of people criticizing it bc it held so dear to me. There was a time where I felt that people just dunked on the game super unfairly and I'm glad I get to see more nuanced discussion of this game. I really appreciate your video essay and how it doesn't try to unfairly bash 4's qualities by constantly comparing it to 3 while also acknowledging criticisms of the game. Keep up the good work!
I have just started my first ever playthrough of Ghost Recon Wildlands. I wanted to CoOp that game ever since I saw the trailer(I believe the best trailer for any game ever). I recently got a partner to play with and while watching your video I realised something. I have played FC2,3,4,5 and DLC's and all of them have one thing that I love to do again and again, 17:20 completing the outposts. I love wildlands because that is all that game is which is completing outposts and Ubi does a lot of bad things but outposts is not one of them. Now about Far Cry 4 - it feels like it is the Bioshock 2, or AC Syndicate of the Far Cry Series. It perfected the gameplay and tried with the story but ultimately the Original has our hearts. Edit: Watched that moment again and realised that it was whitelight you were playing with, if you and him read this please do one of the wildlands but X years later videos.
22:00 Also the Hunters were there for a resson 😂 to make sure smartasses don't get cocky during outpost raids or something like that, its annoying to everyone but for me it gives a Greater Challage other Farcry's failed at is never rely tagging enemies i guess.
While I do hold my reservations about Far Cry 4 I’ve grown to kinda like it. I don’t think it’s bad I think it’s a little bland story wise but I do love the world they made and it has made me interested in the Himalayas and countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and India. That’s something not a lot of games can do nowadays plus Operation Flashpoint Red River has made me interested in Tajikistan or Central Asia in general. My point is that two video games have made me interested in learning about places in the map that not a lot of people know.
This was my first true farcry. I had played Farcry3 for a few hours but I was too young to get into it. FarCry 4 was perfect to start out, the visuals, art direction, the gameplay and ground for better gear. Funny enough I still have no idea what happened in the story
This was the one... for me this was the one that had the most beautiful locations of the entire series. Gone were the dull browns of Far Cry 2, replaced by vibrant colors. 🎨🖌 And then there was Shangri-La, made off a set of missions I didn't particularly like at first, but ended up loving it so much so that I wished Ubisoft had made it into a spin-off game like Blood Dragon❣
before watching this video: I remember Farcry 4 fondly and thought it was a cool game when i played it as a 12-year-old, i thought the intro was sick af and loved the stealth stuff, and the setting was awesome edit 1: I just got to the prt where you talk about playing the game on more difficult modes because it makes you feel good to have done it, i used to always play on normal mode in video games as a kid and teenager but now i know that i usually go through games at least twice, so for example with a game like horizon zero dawn I play it on easy mode first to concentrate on the story and then on the hardest mode to get an actual challenge now that i am very familiar with the mechanics, and I have done this for most games since, like bg3 or cult of the lamb - i love story and i love progressing, so setting it to easy first allows me to actually get through it without ragequitting or anything xD and then once ive finished it i set it to hard or very hard depending on the game to prove to myself i am a gamer hahaha
Topping the graphics on pc, esp the fov and frames with this game is just a chefs kiss. What hurts the most is I can’t play farcry3 without it crashing on a 4070
This was my first Far Cry game. I'd played it for the setting, as I was excited for 'Uncharted - Lost Legacy' and the unique setting of India. I was surprised how little games there are that are set in that part of the world. Kyrat felt like a genuine place, wedged somewhere between Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and India. The Himalayan mountains flanking the country made me, and even the horrific war unfolding beneath them, feel small and almost meaningless. I return to this game, replaying it from start to finish, at least once or twice a year. This is my 'Skyrim.' I've sided with Amita and Sabal exclusively during different playthroughs to see how it impacts the gameplay. Amita's mission involving the factory, Advanced Chemistry, is so much better and more fun than Sabals. Better music, too. I did end up playing 'Far Cry 3,' and the other later games, and while I'm one of the few to have genuinely enjoyed 'Far Cry 6' and the world it presented, nothing compares to Kyrat. The Rook Islands are pretty, Hope Country was alright but boring after a time, Oros was nice, and Yara was damned gorgeous. But Kyrat is the only one that felt like a genuine location, a kind of place you'd almost expect to find, removed from but influenced by the wider world. Oh, and the Shangri-La missions were top tier.
I feel like the biggest part about "Far Cry on easy mode" is that the easiest and fastest way to beat the game is doing nothing, right in the beginning just don't do anything and you win easy game That's the base level, everything we do, every bit of exploration and every bit of crafting in Far Cry 4 is done to be an end in itself That's the message of this game, not getting involved, just letting Kyratt be is the right choice if you look at the story Pagan Min, despite being a ruthless dictator, is the lesser of 3 evils between him, Sabal and Amita Just not doing anything is the best for Kyratt and the best for Ajay It's the message Far Cry 3 also had, that one can lose themselves and all their humanity in the jungle and there will be no human, no moral interdiction Far Cry 3 had us stranded and get lost within Rage and Vengeance, so much so that We became unrecognizable to our friends In Far Cry 4 not playing is the moral choice, in Far Cry 3 we were captured, We had no choice In Far Cry 4 We have a choice, and (for the sake of not just gifting Ubisoft money) all of us voluntarily gave up our humanity to just become someone that pulls the trigger Far Cry 5 basically shoves this in your face, the entire idea is that We the player are basically The Devil to Joseph Seed Wherever we go, death carnage and destruction await Again, mostly because if not, the Far Cry series would probably be much more Animal Crossing This moral grandstanding, from Ubisoft of all Companies, is what made me lose interest in the Far Cry series Is it ethical to do the things the player does in Far Cry games, if they were actions with actual consequences for humans? No of course not! But that Ubisoft, one of the greediest companies of our modern times, fucking even dares to claim a moral high ground, with this take being the core of Far Cry 3 to 6 and the cost per game of those 4 games That's simply outrageous to me
The sheer amount of worldbuilding for Kyrat all the way down to its own mythology and then Pagan Min are why I love it

Awesome game. Not my favourite of the franchise (FC4 personal choice) but totally understand why it would be someone’s favourite.
All around good choice.
Mine is probably Far Cry 5.
Farcry 5 is boring long cutscenes fest with zero freedom and trashy gameplay and absolute monkeycrap weapons@@mr.2cents.846
It was great I agree
I think Far Cry 4 is in many ways my favorite of the games. It improves on so much of what came before and it gets rid off some of the less than refined stoy elements of 3.
And you excellently described why I love it so much. Great video! Looking forward to your other Far Cry videos.
Far cry 4 was my introduction to the series and I’d say pagin is my favorite antagonist cause bros a menace but has so much charm and nice drip wear
Joseph Seed is also a sociopath that's fallen 4 the lies of Christianity....
11:00 The towers are harder? I never noticed because I always just used the helicopter to skip to the top lmao. I got really good at landing those things on small platforms.
Yah the bell towers are a bitch get up without a copter. It’s because there’s more platforms than there were on the radio towers.
bro missed every piece of tower loot
@@drunkjared Loot? I was swimming in cash and had all the weapons I needed. Were there any unique guns or something I missed?
@@Malak1man not rly tbh just propaganda posters for 100% the rest of the loot is chests I think
One of the very few FarCry games I've replayed multiple times. 4&5 just had that feel about them that kept me playing.
If 2 didn’t exist 4 would easily be my favorite in the series due to mountains and elephants, the perfect combination.
I don’t get the love for 2. Maybe it’s because I saw Apocalypse Now like 15 years before far cry 2 existed (thus the story isn’t special as it’s just a copy paste Heart of darkness)
But I love the setting of FC2… that’s about it.
Farcry 4 is my favorite of the series.
22:26 i was so invested in Nora's story & was devastated when she died
For me its simple. Its Far Cry 3 with improved gameplay. Story wasnt something I paid attention to back then. Far Cry 4 was just a really fun game.
I have 4 just ahead of 5 in terms of being my favorite in the series.
You actually made me wanna play far cry 4 again
Its That Boy Aqua
After far cry 3, 4 was my second favourite. Really good game and location
the farcry 4 multiplayer was criminally ignored. legitimately had some great times on there, felt so awesome
FC3 and 4 are really important to me
Far Cry 4 is the best far cry game for me, the mechanics of 3 with a better story, yes I said better story and a better villain. Lots of people romanticize their nostalgic memories of Vaas because we first played it as kids and it imprinted on us, play it again today and then play 4, you'll agree with me, 4 has a better story and villain.
I played 4 before 3 and I totally agree.
Far Cry 4 was one of the few games I got 100% in.
This was a great look back, you really should do far cry primal as well
Wish there was a third ending where you could hunt down the two golden path leaders (forgot their names) and destroy them
I sided with the chick, hoping she'd put out, but she didn't.
@@hatefuleightyseven2962 lol.... many did...
@@hatefuleightyseven2962The best thing about siding with Amita is that you get to play that really cool trippy hallucinogenic gas leak mission.
This is still my favorite far cry game out of them all
This era when Ubisoft don't care about political consequences and not pushing political agenda.
Far cry 4 made me and many other brown kids feel represented and comforted, like we found a home that we never knew before.
I know farcry primal isnt a popular one but I really loved it. hope to see you do a vid on it.
Farcry 4 is actually my favorite game out of the series
The competition is between far cry 3 and cheap copy of far cry 3 (far cry 4 ). Do yeah , saying that is not much
my man has returned
It's a real fucking shame this game isn't 60fps on PS5, yet Far Cry 5 got a patch. Hopefully one day...
The fact that u can end the game within the first few mins of the game by just waiting for Pagan at the table says it all lmao
Never sold that letter from Ajay's mother. I was so attached to that quest of taking her to Lakshmana.
This is when video game graphics reached their peak before reaching diminishing returns. Crazy hardware requirements for games that look like throw up.
Bingo.
Remake it pls!!!
first game i got on ps4..
FC3 and 4 are on par with each other, but blood dragon is quite literally the peak of Far cry
16:38
This would be pretty damn cool IF the enemies weren't visible through walls.
I mean, he's guiding you to something you can clearly see.
Ajay actually had a pretty troubled backstory that is easily missed. He was a troubled youth that would constantly get in trouble with the law through gang violence but then turned an eye towards the US military where he served. It’s easily missable though but it’s probably why he adjusts to his environment really quick.
Awesome video man, great job!
pagan min, the map, and the cultural references make this game one of my favorites of all time
You and white light being pals makse so much sense cos when any of you uploads sometimes it feels like deja vu
in my opinion farcry 4 built and improved on farcry 3 and was overall just such a cool game to play
Far Cry 4 is that game that disappointed you on release, but once 10 years of nostalgia sets in , you suddenly like it.
my first game on my xbox one and an absolute blast.
The biggest mystery of FC4: How does the greeter at the arena stay warm? She must be very cold.
I borrowed this from my friend in the 6th grade it was the first truly gory open world game I had played, I had to return it before I could finish it but I Copped this baby for 3.99 on the steam winter sale and have been loving it with the same fondness as I did then.
I have thousands of hours on this game, I cant believe its been 10 years
I'm finally playing it for the first time in the ten years it came out. And I love it.
Another great video
W Whitelight cameo too
3 for the story, 4 for the gameplay. I finished this games more than once but not any other even once and there is a solid reason behind it.
Farcry 4 still looks amazing after 10 years !!!❤
This was my first true farcry. I had played Farcry3 for a few hours but I was too young to get into it. FarCry 4 was perfect to start out, the visuals, art direction, the gameplay and ground for better gear. Funny enough I still have no idea what happened in the story
I really enjoyed the environment. I loved running everywhere and farming treasure chest on the way to my destination.
This was the one... for me this was the one that had the most beautiful locations of the entire series. Gone were the dull browns of Far Cry 2, replaced by vibrant colors. 🎨🖌
And then there was Shangri-La, made off a set of missions I didn't particularly like at first, but ended up loving it so much so that I wished Ubisoft had made it into a spin-off game like Blood Dragon❣
Loved this title werry much 💯
Ahhh far cry 4, the younger underrated brother
before watching this video: I remember Farcry 4 fondly and thought it was a cool game when i played it as a 12-year-old, i thought the intro was sick af and loved the stealth stuff, and the setting was awesome
edit 1: I just got to the prt where you talk about playing the game on more difficult modes because it makes you feel good to have done it, i used to always play on normal mode in video games as a kid and teenager but now i know that i usually go through games at least twice, so for example with a game like horizon zero dawn I play it on easy mode first to concentrate on the story and then on the hardest mode to get an actual challenge now that i am very familiar with the mechanics, and I have done this for most games since, like bg3 or cult of the lamb - i love story and i love progressing, so setting it to easy first allows me to actually get through it without ragequitting or anything xD and then once ive finished it i set it to hard or very hard depending on the game to prove to myself i am a gamer hahaha
Just watched your far cry 3 video 3 days ago and went to look for a far cry 4 and realized you didn't do a video... and now what a surprise 😂😂😂
26:47 i have over 100h on FC4 but haven't seen this. Where's this from?
Topping the graphics on pc, esp the fov and frames with this game is just a chefs kiss.
What hurts the most is I can’t play farcry3 without it crashing on a 4070
Ubisoft is like a middle age man that is going through its mid life crisis and trying to relive the good old days
I like when he talks about the wing suit he used just cause 4 music
I feel like the biggest part about "Far Cry on easy mode" is that the easiest and fastest way to beat the game is doing nothing, right in the beginning just don't do anything and you win easy game
That's the base level, everything we do, every bit of exploration and every bit of crafting in Far Cry 4 is done to be an end in itself
That's the message of this game, not getting involved, just letting Kyratt be is the right choice if you look at the story
Pagan Min, despite being a ruthless dictator, is the lesser of 3 evils between him, Sabal and Amita
Just not doing anything is the best for Kyratt and the best for Ajay
It's the message Far Cry 3 also had, that one can lose themselves and all their humanity in the jungle and there will be no human, no moral interdiction
Far Cry 3 had us stranded and get lost within Rage and Vengeance, so much so that We became unrecognizable to our friends
In Far Cry 4 not playing is the moral choice, in Far Cry 3 we were captured, We had no choice
In Far Cry 4 We have a choice, and (for the sake of not just gifting Ubisoft money) all of us voluntarily gave up our humanity to just become someone that pulls the trigger
Far Cry 5 basically shoves this in your face, the entire idea is that We the player are basically The Devil to Joseph Seed
Wherever we go, death carnage and destruction await
Again, mostly because if not, the Far Cry series would probably be much more Animal Crossing
This moral grandstanding, from Ubisoft of all Companies, is what made me lose interest in the Far Cry series
Is it ethical to do the things the player does in Far Cry games, if they were actions with actual consequences for humans? No of course not!
But that Ubisoft, one of the greediest companies of our modern times, fucking even dares to claim a moral high ground, with this take being the core of Far Cry 3 to 6 and the cost per game of those 4 games
That's simply outrageous to me
AHjay gAH-leh my favorite protagonist with one of the best villians, Pagan voiced by *the* Troy Baker what more could you ask for 🙏🙏
Im litterally replaying 4 right now, and i honestly wish they would remake 3
If they were to remake one of the games it should definitely be Far Cry 2!
