After several exchanges with support, they resorted to indicating this was by design, because the back ports use a "second level HUB chip". Nowhere in their documentation or online do I find this limitation documented. 2) Test out all your ports when you received the unit. The one I received had an SD card reader that didn't work. I can see that you are also using a CalDigit TS3+ or TS4. Can you show a speed performance test (which you are so good at it with the MacBooks) comparing this new 20 ports iVanky with the CalDigit you have when connecting on both a Thunderbolt external SSD casing?
Shame that it doesn’t have display link or similar functionality to enable additional thunderbolt displays using an M1 or M1 Pro. My biggest regret with my 14” M1 Pro is that I read the specs as maximum 3 displays - which it can do, however one *must* be the built in display. Even in clamshell mode only 2 external are supported. I get around it by having my 3rd Thunderbolt Display plugged into an older Mac and using the extended display to connect to it. Can i also use 2x USB-C Kabels instead of the standard cable which which is deliverd with the dock? I was wondering if this dock is future proof if the layout of the mcbook pro changes or if i switch to a other mac like the mac studio.
Would this docking station work with the Mac Studio Ultra if you used your own Thunderbolt 4 cables to connect it to the computer since I do not think the cable supplied by Ivanky would fit the Mac Studio's port layout?
I notice they don’t show the M2 Ultra chips on there. 1) how do you connect the dual thunderbolt 4 cables to an Studio and/or Mini design? 2) I assume this would work with the ultra chip? But there’s nothing on the website that addresses this.
Yea it would work but you'd just need to use two TB4 cables since the thunderbolts are laid out differently instead of this special one that is setup for Macbooks and Mac Mini. Or you can use some cheap TB4 extensions on the Mac side geni.us/QAlnxAh The studio already has a lot of ports but of course not everything that this has so some people would still make good use of it.
Looks good,. Not for everyone due to price but it has a market for people. Which port support 40 gbps TB4 ? I am using cal-digit TS3 for few years now with mac studio now. Originally I got for Mac mini. No display port here which could be handy considering it has everything covered. 10 Gbps Ethernet should be there at this produce point.
4 of the ports support full 40 gbps TB4 so if you're using them for displays you can use them as regular TB4 Ports. Right now I'm using 2 of those for data, one for my TB4 server getting the full 1500 MB/s while at the same time getting 2200 MB/s on another port for my TB4 external SSD. I'm using another one for my 6K XDR display which uses a crazy amount of bandwidth and the rear USB-C ports still work at full speed just like if it was plugged directly into my Mac which other docks have had issues with which is why with the TS4 I had to plug my server in to my mac directly with another cable.
Im sure this has been already asked but will they make a version of this for windows? Or what would you recommend that is like this for non apple products?
Please make a short video how this dock work with the new Mac Mini M4 n M4 pro! Also the Mac mini M4 doesn’t have the Thunderbolt horizontal (-) but vertical (l), so sub-c extension are needed. Also there are new Bocks coming out with Thunderbolt 5, are those better n maybe a cheaper option for the base Mac mini M4 then a duck 2/3 the price of it. What u recommend?
Great video and information! Overall I really like this dock! One complaint is that the top gets very hot after a few minutes of use. I run two 4k monitors (32 in and 27 inch), and after a few minutes of use (photoshop and lightroom), the top of the dock gets really hot. Just can't put anything that is heat sensitive on top of the dock.
Seems like it was still get hot since the heat is blocked in by a wall and will push back against the dock. Seems it would be better just to not have the wall but I can get all together.
This looks perfect for what I'm after. Running a MacBook Pro 16" with Studio display just doesn't give me the ports I need. Additionally, I am forced to connect my Apogee Duet 3 audio interface to my MacBook Pro directly because of some issue when connecting it to the studio display. I'm constantly juggling cables and devices on my only available TB port on the MBP to charge my peripherals and phone etc.. since my studio display ports are all used up by external SSDs and an ethernet adapter. The dock would solve the ethernet adapter, and provide me with more than enough ports to connect all my periphery and SSDs.
Here is what I want to know. Can I attach 2 or more monitors. Allow the mac to go to sleep then wake up without completely rearranging every window. I have the OWC dock and have completely disabled sleeping and run screen savers because EVERY SINGLE TIME it wakes from sleep my windows are in completely new places.
Hi there, you can connect to up to four monitors, depending on which MacBook do you have. Regarding the problem you have encountered, it is related to the MacBook system. Based on what we know, the likelihood of encountering this issue is relatively high in version 12.1. The issue has been fixed in systems after version 13.1. You can try upgrading your system. If the problem persists, we recommend consulting Apple customer service.
Great Video 👍 This sounds like the perfect dock until the compatibility part. The one thing, that @ivenky missed was to implement displaylink to add more displays to M1 Mac's as well.
Does this dock use some kind of "special" software to utilize all the displays? I think I tried one of their earlier boxes that requires some compression or something to accomplish the multi-displays. Did you have to install a software management tool to use this?
@@MaxTechOfficial Interesting!! I'm going to pick one up and try it. I've had all sorts of issues with even dual displays on my M1 Max through a Caldigit TS4 Dock. This IVANKY dock appears to have dual HDMI as well, which doesn't take up my 40Bgit ports for my external drives! HUGE Thanks for posting this video! Hope you get credit for me buying one!
Hi there, yes. However, if you are using the M1/M2 chip, only one monitor can be connected due to the M1/M2's limitation. The M2 Pro can support dual monitors.
Nice overkill for the long haul. IMO, the Mac end of the main cable should have some flex (split) to be compatible with whatever comes down the line w/o needing to order a new cable. (I also don't mind 2 cables as they can trivially be 'tied' together with velcro cable management loops.
You could always just use two of your own TB4 cables or grab some cheap TB4 extension cables if you want to add them to the mac end geni.us/HgTbceZ , but maybe they will make a cable in the future where one end splits up for the last few inches.
If this thing would have an internal M.2 Slot i would be sold! But to be honest for my needs i would only need 2 Monitors but would much more prefere super speedy external storage for Mac
I've been using external M.2 SSD's since the price is about the same and I can easily unplug it to take it with me or connect it to another computer without having to take the whole dock.
@@MaxTechOfficial True but its extra cost and extra cabels so i would prefere an all in one setup. Moving around with the Macbook but have everything ready at my work test
Yes, you can. You can connect it using two TB4 or USB 4.0 cables. The dual USB-C cable we provided is only compatible with MacBooks and Mac Mini. However, we are working on producing cables compatible with Mac Studio, which you might see in the near future!

I have connected to mine 3 external Hard drives, the other day my Mac-mini shut down two of the drives for drawing to much power. Could I take the Anker and plug a usb c hub into one of the USB-c ports and get around the power issue?
Would this dock work with 2019 Mac Pro that's Intel based? ANy KVM switch that allows one Pro Display XDR to work with 2019 Intel Mac Pro alongside a 2023 M3 Max MacBook Pro? Thanks.
As the 2019, or ANY Intel-based Mac for that matter, only has Thunderbolt 3 and not the required Thunderbolt 4 that this operates on, this will unfortunately not work for the 2019 Mac Pro. As far as the concept of a KVM switch, depending upon what you are specifically wanting to use it for, you could try using Apple's "Universal Control" feature that allows you to operate an second Mac on the same network with the same keyboard and mouse from the first system.
12:12 there's an error: Mac Mini with M1/M2 supports 1 6k & 1 5k display simultaneously. So dual 5k60 is possible Edit: wait nvm it's 1 6k via TB, the other has to be via HDMI
You were half right, the M2 (non-Pro) Mac mini does support 1 6k and 1 5k display at the same time over Thunderbolt, so I would assume it would do it though this dock too. The M1 Mac mini does not, unfortunately, it only supports one display over Thunderbolt.
Is it possible to connect a Thunderbolt 3/4 external storage to the ports labeled "6k"? These are the only ports that appear to support 40Gbps data transfer.
yep details in their Q&A: Only MacBook with M1/M2 Max can reach to quad monitors, but due to MacBook's limitations, currently, you can only connect up to three 6K external displays and one 4K external display.
I’ve always had great results with their cables but that name reminds me of one of those black label companies that are here today gone tomorrow lol. But ivanky does have some quality stuff.
Sadly enough, it doesn't work on my intel Mac Pro. I do have an M1 Macbook Air but that's more in use for when i go to the hospital. But maybe down the road, i might buy it.
Aren’t the two Thunderbolt port next to each other on the MacBook Pro on the same Thunderbolt channel, and thus have only two DisplayPort streams and 40Gbps throughput shared between them? How is it getting four 6K output? Is it some type of non-native DisplayLink type video solution? Also, if it’s a single channel, using two DisplayPort streams will seriously cut into the downstream data bandwidth, making, say, writes to an attached SSD/NVMe drive slow.
This need an immediate comparison video vs the Caldigit TS4 BTW. It says quad monitor setup but that is using 3 6k and 1 4k. How many 5k monitors could this support? Is it stuck at 4 or is the quad setup assuming 6k monitors etc
I use Thunderbolt networking, about twice as fast as 10 gbps. Most docks use 1gbe or 2.5gbe because if you go 10gbe you need a fan and you're going to really limit the bandwidth of the other ports.
The HDMI port is capable to support HDMI 2.1, theoretically allowing for 4K@120Hz. However, due to Apple's restrictions, our dock can't reach refresh rates higher than 60Hz through the USB-C interface at the moment, but it can reach 120 Hz when Apple upgrates in the future.
Hi there, unfortunately, due to the M1/M2's restriction, it's not possible. You might consider checking out docking stations with DisplayLink or SMI to connect three monitors. iVANKY 15 in 1 Triple Display USB C Docking Station is one of the options.
I wonder if this would work with a M1 or M2 mini. Might have to buy separate thunderbolt cables I’ll bet. This would be killer for Mini owners. Especially the $599 Mini owners.
Hi there, yes, you can. However, if you are using the M1/M2 chip, only one monitor can be connected due to the M1/M2's restriction. The M2 Pro can support dual monitors.
Hi there, yes you can. You can connect Mac Ultra of Mac studio using two separateTB4 or USB 4.0 cables. The dual USB-C cable we provided is only compatible with MacBooks and Mac Mini. However, we are working on producing cables compatible with Mac Studio, which you might see in the near future!
Yup, I mentioned that. It just means it's better to spread out your devices so it uses both TB4 chips instead of just having everything on one. I can power my 6K XDR display, Server with 1500 MB/s and Thunderbolt SSD with 2200 MB/s at the same time with no issues.
Help! Is there a dock that does hdmi or thunderbolt to display port in 120hz?! I am doing a single set up for both my PC and MacBook Pro. This is a triple Alienware QD OLED set up. The 32” 4k QD OLED (center monitor) has hdmi 2.1. If I connected directly to the monitors I could get the faster refresh rates. But a dock would be ideal. Does such a dock exist? Thanks
might need a thunderbolt to displayport or thunderbolt to hdmi 2.1 cable and bypass the hdmi port on the dock if you can, I see so many of them are limited to only 4k but with thunderbolt you would be able to get the full 2.1 throughput
@@jam91280 yeah I didn’t need nearly as many ports, and I needed a dock for the iMac too, ended up getting two Kensington SD5560T to run my 5k monitors, spec sheet says it won’t do it but the Amazon reviews said otherwise and sure enough it does. I wonder if this would work with a Windows machine as well, if it has two TB4 ports and you use two separate TB4 capable cables to hook it up? Would be an interesting test. Is there some special sauce in the included cable? Sure I use a Mac mostly, but occasionally need to hook up a windows machine. Kind of limited target user group with the fixed dual port cable, nice to plugin yes, but also Apple might even change the port spacing. Sure unlikely, but they might. Would make sense if it also works with separate cables. And yes, pity is it not also DisplayLink compatible. With all the features and ports, they could have included it too.

I wish it had 10gb Ethernet
Seems like it was still get hot since the heat is blocked in by a wall and will push back against the dock. Seems it would be better just to not have the wall but I can get all together.
Can I connect this with a Mac Studio? I easily connected my MacBook Pro M1 Max but I want to use with my Mac Studio! If yes, Which ports?
Great Video 👍
This sounds like the perfect dock until the compatibility part. The one thing, that @ivenky missed was to implement displaylink to add more displays to M1 Mac's as well.
It would be great if they can provide 10GBE and DP in their dual thunderbolt config. I really need these.
Use adapters
10GBE will eat up most of the bandwidth and need a fan to cool which is why most don't have them, but maybe in the future!
@@MaxTechOfficial True. OWC have one dock with 10GBE and DP. But that one only have 9 ports and most of them are USBA. Not fit for me :(
@@daniel_960_ Sure. There are Thunderbolt 10GBE adapters and I can chain them. But I just want a clean desk instead of a chain of adapters😭
@@daniel_960_ I believed the primary purpose of using a docking station was to eliminate the necessity for additional adapters.
I got a thunderbolt 4 docks as well, but this one is really nice.
How can I connect with a regular iMac desktop Insted ? It does work for a iMac desktop in the same way?
Which one wins?:
iVANKY VCD10 vs. SoNNET Echo 20 in terms of durability?
hello just what i was looking for, excellent video. but a question which ones are those speakers?
Can you connect an iPad Pro with one single thunderbolt cable to be able to use your peripherals?
I haven't been able to verify if this dock's special connector(s) works with a 15" M3 MBA?
Does this dock use some kind of "special" software to utilize all the displays? I think I tried one of their earlier boxes that requires some compression or something to accomplish the multi-displays. Did you have to install a software management tool to use this?
Nope, no software. This is using dual Thunderbolt 4 chips whereas everything else uses just one.
Does the dual thunderbolt ⚡ ports works with Mac mini?
I assume yes, otherwise it wouldn't be mentioned in the table at 12:03
Hi there, yes.
Any reason you couldn't use this dock with an M1 Max Mac Studio and two separate Thunderbolt 4 cables?
How Long is that cable? It looks short!!! Nothing on the Amazon page in regards to length.
But which kind of consumer is it for ?
Better than caldigit ts4?
If this thing would have an internal M.2 Slot i would be sold! But to be honest for my needs i would only need 2 Monitors but would much more prefere super speedy external storage for Mac
I've been using external M.2 SSD's since the price is about the same and I can easily unplug it to take it with me or connect it to another computer without having to take the whole dock.
@@MaxTechOfficial True but its extra cost and extra cabels so i would prefere an all in one setup. Moving around with the Macbook but have everything ready at my work test
So it doesn't match with the new mac studio mini? i need diferents cable?
Do they have a cable to allow this to work on the Mac studio?
Yes, you can. You can connect it using two TB4 or USB 4.0 cables. The dual USB-C cable we provided is only compatible with MacBooks and Mac Mini. However, we are working on producing cables compatible with Mac Studio, which you might see in the near future!
do you have a suggestion for something less pricey? I will typically only use 2 external monitors on my Macbook Air M1
I thought the M1 Air only supports a single external display
Laptop only. I'll stick with my OWC and Caldigit docks.
Who said laptop only? Works with the dual cable on Mac Mini's but if you want to use it with the studio you can use use your own TB4 cables or cheap TB4 extensions on the Mac end. geni.us/yuzFbmc
And what about MacBook Pro 14'' M3 Pro? How many 6K screens I will be able to connect?
What is ring with your mic?
I would purchase this for Windows PCs too.
Hi there, we do not recommend using it with Windows PCs due to the possible unsatisfactory compatibility experience. If you want to use it, you will need two separate Thunderbolt 4 or USB 4.0 cables, and.connect the two upstream ports to the laptop's Thunderbolt 4 interface respectively.
Looks great except a bit disappointing they only went with the 2.5Gb NIC when 10Gb is fast becoming the standard.
Can you explain what the warning "Avoid using all video ports on the same layer" means?
Would this work with my base model Mac Studio?
Where would u plug in the power into a M2 Ultrastudio buddy??
Is the audio slightly pitched? Strange. Also sound like some backup audio source, far from the voice.
(Anyways thanks for the video, cool and interesting as always. Keep it up!)
The problem I have is not enough usb-c ports. Don’t care about USB A need C. Even Ankers 13-1 don’t provide enough USB-C.
Great review! How does this compare to the Echo 11. Which would work for a MacBook better or as a hub for an iMac?
This is not a review.
This thing is on a whole nother level compared to the Echo 11. Way more ports, bandwidth, and speed of the connections.
@@MaxTechOfficial but only works with a MacBook and not “the new” iMac?
Hello, Wow, It is interesting I am impressed. 👍
12:12 there's an error: Mac Mini with M1/M2 supports 1 6k & 1 5k display simultaneously. So dual 5k60 is possible
Edit: wait nvm it's 1 6k via TB, the other has to be via HDMI
You were half right, the M2 (non-Pro) Mac mini does support 1 6k and 1 5k display at the same time over Thunderbolt, so I would assume it would do it though this dock too. The M1 Mac mini does not, unfortunately, it only supports one display over Thunderbolt.
can i use it with a mac studio
You can still use it just use two regular TB4 cables or some cheap TB4 extensions since the studio has a different port orientation geni.us/yuzFbmc
How would this work with a Studio? That special cable wouldn't work with a Studio...
You can use two of your own TB4 cables, or use some cheap TB4 extensions since the layout of the ports are different on the Mac Studio.
Is it possible to connect a Thunderbolt 3/4 external storage to the ports labeled "6k"? These are the only ports that appear to support 40Gbps data transfer.
are you sure it can do quad 6K bc the current M2 Max can only do 3 6K and 1 4K @60Hz
yep details in their Q&A: Only MacBook with M1/M2 Max can reach to quad monitors, but due to MacBook's limitations, currently, you can only connect up to three 6K external displays and one 4K external display.
10GBE it’s what I want in a Dock.
What is the length of that special dual i/o cable?
Looks pretty short right? 3 feet or less probably
I didn't measure but its around there, but of course you can just use two of your own TB4 cables if you need, or cheap extensions geni.us/yuzFbmc

Thunderbolt 3 and USB4 are backward and forward compatible with thunderbolt 4, only issue is physical. Literally same speeds, and everything.
Can it be used on a M2 Pro Mac mini?
I’ve always had great results with their cables but that name reminds me of one of those black label companies that are here today gone tomorrow lol. But ivanky does have some quality stuff.
Will this work with 2 LG UltraFine 5K displays?
My only concern will be how can this dock support the 4K resolution at 240Hz over HDMI or 4K resolution at 144Hz over HDMI? Since it has hdmi 2.0
It doesn't support those.
Not anymore. Each one has its own channel
What about the Mac Studio?
You can still use it just use two regular TB4 cables or some cheap TB4 extensions since the studio has a different port orientation geni.us/yuzFbmc
@@MaxTechOfficial thanks that’s what I thought

BTW. It says quad monitor setup but that is using 3 6k and 1 4k. How many 5k monitors could this support? Is it stuck at 4 or is the quad setup assuming 6k monitors etc
That's the one I had before this, and I like this one a lot better. More ports and stays WAY cooler. The TS4 runs extremely hot.
@@MaxTechOfficial Thabks for responding!
That is great to know. This is a bit pricier but it does do more. Thanks Max!
Which pro user use slow 2.5 gbit network when there is 10gbit networking around for years? 🤔🧐
I use Thunderbolt networking, about twice as fast as 10 gbps. Most docks use 1gbe or 2.5gbe because if you go 10gbe you need a fan and you're going to really limit the bandwidth of the other ports.
Is there support for 4K 120HZ via HDMI 2.1?
The HDMI port is capable to support HDMI 2.1, theoretically allowing for 4K@120Hz. However, due to Apple's restrictions, our dock can't reach refresh rates higher than 60Hz through the USB-C interface at the moment, but it can reach 120 Hz when Apple upgrates in the future.
@@iVANKYOfficial So the newer M2 Max ports have HDMI 2.1 from apple...are we talking about those? (they support 4K 120HZ)
Very cool. But if I understood, with this doc I can connect to my Mac Mini M1 up to 4 display instead of 2. Ok?
Hi there, unfortunately, due to the M1/M2's restriction, it's not possible. You might consider checking out docking stations with DisplayLink or SMI to connect three monitors. iVANKY 15 in 1 Triple Display USB C Docking Station is one of the options.

Nope works with the included cable.
Hi there, yes, you can. However, if you are using the M1/M2 chip, only one monitor can be connected due to the M1/M2's restriction. The M2 Pro can support dual monitors.
With the 4 port Mac mini does the plug restrict from plugging in to the two other ports though ? Due to plug size

Is there some special sauce in the included cable? Sure I use a Mac mostly, but occasionally need to hook up a windows machine.
Kind of limited target user group with the fixed dual port cable, nice to plugin yes, but also Apple might even change the port spacing. Sure unlikely, but they might. Would make sense if it also works with separate cables.
