The Ivanky FusionDock Max 1 works fine with the new Macbook Pro with Thunderbolt 5. It does have a glitch with the speaker connection but by just updating the firmware of the dock and a few clicks in the system settings it works flawlessly.
I just returned mine after 2 weeks of use and countless cables and connectors trying to make it work. This unit gets so many rave reviews and no one is talking about over-heating issues. These units get really hot. They work great under normal loads without issue but still get very warm. I had mine plugged into an M4 MAX 16" and a single 32" 1440p 144Hz monitor. Web browsing, email and normal use without any issues. Then I play Rocket League at 1440p 144Hz. Get about 140FPS. 10 minutes in at random the screen disconnects. Unit gets hot to the touch. Sometimes it reconnects by itself, and other times I have to set it to 60Hz, wait for it to come back on, then switch back to 144Hz. Then it's an intermittent connection at random times. Again, 2k @ 144Hz which is easily supported according to their specs. If I bypass the dock and plug the external monitor straight into the MacBook Pro I have zero issues. Was gonna get an exact replacement but went with the sonnet dock instead, cheaper and more features and hopefully won't have the same issues when I receive it.
Thanks for the feedback. Mine runs hot (as do all of the docks I’ve tested), but haven’t had any way to test higher refresh rates. Mine works fine doing a 4k and a 2k display from one side and my storage devices from the other. My CalDigit TS4 actually had trouble with this and the 4k would occasionally disconnect for a couple of seconds. I have had some very annoying but minor glitches with USB devices attached to a USB 3 hub from the CalDigit USB port. Will be moving to TB 5 Docks very soon, hopefully they will be everything Intel has said they will be.
The HDMI ports are actually 2.1 on the Ivankey. The said they wrote 2.0 on it due to a limitation in Macos which prevent HDMI 2.1 speeds through Thunderbolt 4. I use a 1440p gaming monitor connected through display port to the thunderbolt port. I get 1440p at 180hz which is exactly what my monitor does. To get HDMI 2.1 through Thunderbolt 4. The said device needs to be converted to Display port 1.4 and then USB C prior to connecting to the dock. The Ivankey supports all the refresh rates that hdmi 2.0 supports and all the refresh rates and resolutions display port 1.4 support through its thunderbolt ports. It would be great if Apple could lift this limitation in MacOS so HDMI 2.1 docks can be useable.
