    Idk why people are acting like him not being signed is a big deal. In what world would he sign now when him and Mcdavid can make that choice together next summer? His ask would more than likely be lower if he knows 100% Mcdavid is also staying

      McDavid becomes a UFA a year later than Draisaitl, so the Oilers aren't able to extend Connor until next Summer. They are able to extend Draisaitl now. You are definitely right though, I think they want to play together.

    The Oilers want to sign him. He will be signed…. Now find something else to talk about.
    The Oil had a great run in the playoffs, we just signed some great free agents, we have made at least one trade that I believe will be positive in the near future. Us fans have never been happier or more excited.

      May sound like a bias fan I think Leon will take 12 he deserves it and I think Connor might just go with 13. I see McDavid as a guy that will just go again with the same deal. He wants the cup more then anything

      @@ryans41314 for Leon and 16 for McDavid is well within the realm of possibility. As much as it would be nice to see Leon take a discount so he comes in around 12, His last contract was a discount. He’s been getting underpaid for so long that I could definitely see it being 13 at least. I think 13 would be fair, hoping for a little less, but if cap keeps on the trajectory, then after the next two years more space opens up for the rest of the team as well.

    I’ll tell you this for free, under no circumstances are the Oilers trading Leon Draisaitl. Either he resigns or plays out his contract, that’s it.

    With the lineup intact, the Oilers could win the Cup next June in much the same way the Panthers won the Cup this year after being runner up to the Golden Knights the year before.

    It’s tough. He’s gonna want 13.5 and then McDavid and Bouchard will need contracts soon. Which they would get in a beach town with a nmc and 7 years. I hate to say it but if I was the gm I’d explore what you could get for both drai and mcdavid. Can’t let them walk

    He still has a year left on his contract he dosnt need to sign right now. He can take the summer and they can decide on an extension. Everyone needs to calm down I’m an oilers fan and I’m not even worried because I know he will resign. Plus management be stupid to trade him right now when they are on the cup push.

I can’t see any of them leaving I think management has proven to them they mean business and want to win so both of them ain’t going anywhere. Everyone is making this a bigger deal than them it is. I think we won’t hear anything at all until next offseason when they sign Leon and Connor at the same time right after they win the cup.

      McDavid will get 16 Draisaitl 12 only 28 million on the books compared to Torontos 40 million. Both McDavid and Draisaitl do more for the team than 4 guys do in Toronto.

      @@B.Launders Difference is that cap rises 3-4 mil per season and they have good contracts in Nuge, Hyman etc. Sure they need to find cheap complimentary players but those are easier to find than 100 + elite centers.

      Connor will resign at 13 and Leon will get 13. I can see Connor just running it back again and Leon getting an upgrade he was underpaid at 8.5 Connor wants to win he will do what’s right for the team and not making them to cap strapped.

    It’s amazing how many don’t seem to understand how a salary cap works. There is a set limit. You can not ice a team that goes over this cap. Only players on LTIR do not count towards the cap. Oilers are over the cap right now. They do not have the double digit multi million dollar cap needed to sign Leon this year OR NEXT. Next year they have to sign Bouchard along with Drai. Unless they get rid of Nurse we are losing Drai. End of story.

      The oilers will have $25,000,000 in cap space at the end of their contracts next season. Draisaitl, Bouchard, Ceci, Skinner Perry and Brown are all unrestricted Free Agents & Bouchard is a restricted free agent so safe to say the oilers will have enough to sign Bouchard & Draisaitl
