First of let me say: Nice Thrawn picture. Now on to the animation. I am no expert but personally considering the universe of Tron i thought the design fit the universe perfectly. It was a bit strange at first but i quickly got used to it. I definitely recommend searching the show online and watching all the episodes that aired. If you liked Rebels or Clone Wars i am 95% certain you will like this one as well. It has likeable characters on all sides (good, evil and neutral civilians) who also get developed properly, a good story, an even better soundtrack and it knows how to balance well written humor with serious tone and it offers valuable lessons. One of the best cartoons ever made. Sadly it was cancelled way too soon with a major cliffhanger (F/CK YOU DISNEY).
They shoud've used a similar animation style for star wars Rebel because it seems like a good show but the animation looks so cheap and often makes it hard to focus on the story which is the main reason i never got into it. But yeah Tron Uprising was just an amazing show way ahead of its time with equally amazing asthetics as an added bonus.
The Renegade has become a symbol of hope and defiance. When a symbol is destroyed before the eyes of the people, it becomes an even more powerful symbol of weakness and despair.
This show had such good villains. They had a complex one in Paige, a sadistic psychopath in Paval, an intelligent and charismatic leader in Tesler, a nemesis villain for Tron in Dyson, a dark reflection villain for Beck in Cyrus, and a couple of punk jackasses for Beck, Mara, and Zed when Beck isn't being the Renegade, not to mention a tragic fallen hero in Cutler (who was voiced by the late great Lance Reddick RIP). This show may have only had one season but they actually had an honest to god rouges gallery and it's incredible. And none of them were chumps. They were all actually competent villains. It's a shame we don't get more like that

@@ZUnknownFox There are some reasons that makes me think this is a spin-off series like the moment they "almost" brainwash Tron and didn't, and that "virus" character.
@@zathuramon It has to be because the timeline of the movies and the game (tron evolution) doesn't make sense if this were to somehow fit in there. so it has to be an alternate universe/timeline.
Tesler is voiced by a man named Lance Henriksen. When Lance was two years old, his parents divorced. When he was a young boy, he was always getting into trouble, and even saw the inside of a children's home. He didn't learn to read until he was an adult. He taught himself by reading scripts. Lance could of easily ended up like Tesler: a fearsome monster who would kill you just because you brought him bad news. But he didn't. Lance rose above it all. Your actions are YOUR actions. Don't let your past control you.
Here's the thing: To me, Tesler was not a compelling villain because of his stature, voice, or intimidating presence. What made him compelling to me is that this program, this man, Tesler... is TERRIFIED of failing. All of his confidence and bravado falls apart at the sight of chaos in his city. Every night, his head is full of nightmares being humiliated and evaded by this Tron-imitation and he wakes up every morning, restless. He knows that if he fails to bring this city to heel, Clu will have him replaced and derezzed. Tesler lives in a constant state of fear and will literally stop at nothing to bring order. THAT is what makes him a compelling villain.

Tesler might just be the absolute worst program in the show (morally, he’s like one of my favourite antagonists). Almost every other program under the Order of Clu (which is what I like to call Clu’s regime since I heard it in Evolution) has one reason or another to do what they do. Clu himself does what he does for a better system. Even if it means programs and users alike die in the process he will achieve what he has been programmed to do. Create the perfect system and destroy any potential threats to that system. Tesler? He seems to just abuse his power because he can. He kills his own subordinates for the smallest of reasons like disagreeing with him, he murders programs doing what they’ve been told because he finds it fun (that smirk on his face when the two programs said that they helped him is all the evidence I need of that statement) and the absolute arrogance of this man. The man openly says with a straight face that he didn’t care if it was god himself under the mask of the renegade. He’d have the power to kill him either way. Furthermore, he doesn’t care about the system or any other programs than himself. Clu has reasons to kill when needed. The ISOs were a threat in his eyes and so were anyone harbouring them. He wouldn’t say… drill the entire energy of a city that could’ve potentially blown said city to kingdom come like Tessler does. Because for a perfect system to work there needs to be programs and people to live in it. This didn’t come to mind in Tessler’s point of view in fact he outright admits that he doesn’t care about them dying as long as they have the energy for… something? Take a minute and realize that this show had death and IT WAS MADE FOR KIDS. Man this show was awesome. If released now it would have gotten so much backlash from the public.
I was hoping this would be some kind of a deep dive into general tesler and his terrifying tactics. And how even though he isnt the main villain of the franchise that being clu he still manages to be an intimidating and despicable villain as well as pavel being the little weasel that he is whispering in his ears sweet nothings also of course the drop dead beautiful paige that is at a crossroads with whether she wants to continue on clu’s side or joining tron aka beck
I always wondered: if the show continued would Paige have ever learn what Tesler had done to her friends? I always dreams of that but yet... I will never know.
Not really. The most recurring villains besides Tesler would actually be Pavel and Paige, but Pavel's just an angry smug snake and Paige is just a witless pawn. As for Dyson, he doesn't have enough decent scenes I can use. All that I have is that he was once friend of Tron with minor racism, got scarred, became super racist and betrayed Tron, tortured him, and stayed a jerk from that point on. Not much of a villain.
EmptyMan000 What about Tron's former apprentice Cyrus? He tried to destroy the grid and make Beck and tron suffer. He only appeared in two episodes but he left a huge impact on the characters and show.
Two possible reasons: A) For the sake of plot and drama, the writers made his de-resolution much more drawn out for the main characters to continue the show or B) Tron's code and armor are made of much stronger code and protect him from de-resolution at a higher rate than other programs.
I honestly thought the other disc was of the guard he killed, but I am pretty sure that some discs are stronger than others, either by direct coding, or evolution of code, and the next strongest disc that would be available would be Beck's if he died (There is Anon's disc, but not only did Anon die on a distant island, he died next to Quorra, and Flynn who was not too far away. Flynn programmed Anon himself and most likely buried/destroyed the disc, or kept it hidden)
Possible Titles "The Major Is a Nefarious Nazi" "The Major is a Deranged Dictator" "The Major is a Maniacal Megalomaniac" "The Major is a Lethal Lunatic"
"Alucard is an Eccentric Eldrith Abomination" "Maxwell is a Fanatical Fundamentalist" "Anderson is a Pious Paladin" "Integra Hellsing is a Dignified Dominatrix" "Jan Valentine is a Vulgar Vagabond" "Luke Valentine is Dog Shit"
Makes me miss actually well written and well developed action cartoons even more. Back when villians were actually threatning and evil, not written as redeemable characters.
Hunh. That Imperial, domineering villain is Orange. The evil guy dictating oppression is Orange. The villain is Orange. ... I wonder why I feel that's so relevant?

And how even though he isnt the main villain of the franchise that being clu he still manages to be an intimidating and despicable villain as well as pavel being the little weasel that he is whispering in his ears sweet nothings also of course the drop dead beautiful paige that is at a crossroads with whether she wants to continue on clu’s side or joining tron aka beck
Great show back then.

Hey, kudos on the great effort and time you put into the videos. Keep it up :)
his "welcome home" line seems to be a reference to SWTOR may be wrong but its awfully similar
General Shepard at it again.
I got a soft spot for scenes where the main villain is having work done on him. Idk why, just the vulnerability of it makes it cooler for me.
13:45 your welcome Internet
Honestly, that style of humor reminds me of Avatar The Last Airbender. I love it so much
The Jedi historian from swtor
Why on earth did they cancel this show?
Man, you HAD to include Bodhi's death. God damn, mother-f*cking Disney! Curse those bastards for not finishing this show.
Also, I pity Paige for joining that sack of sh*t liar. Despite that, however, she deserves to be de-rezzed for joining him [willingly or not].
"I don't care if he's Flynn himself. He's still gonna die.... a magnificent death."
Jeez, that's like some-one saying they wanna kill God.
Indeed. I think that last comment was a direct portrayal to Tesler's own arrogance.
This show was so awesome
2:33 Leave no witnesses
God it’s been years since I watched this, like 5 or more years
Tesler being a tyrant.
General Shepard kills ghost and roach
Yesss, thank you
I loved this show
I miss this show
I am ashamed of myself for not watching this series back in the day
Omg its admiral hacket from mass effect.
I always wondered: if the show continued would Paige have ever learn what Tesler had done to her friends? I always dreams of that but yet... I will never know.
Most likely
Legit got sad when I finished watching this. I've never felt like that before except for True Detective.
I wonder if Dyson would be coming next, he's the second most recurring villain from this series.
Plus, who doesn't love John Glover?
@@tayojones9460 I have a Cyrus video. Will upload on Vimeo later.
@@tayojones9460 Cyrus was more of an antivillain meant to represent the opposite extreme to Tesler and CLU`s Social Darwinism and fascism.
wow he looks great as a villain
Heraclio Is A Remorseless Tyrant Please make the video
Dig your videos, Mr emptyman sir.
Except that Tesler was actually derezzed at the end of the season
He wasn't.
He would have if the show continued
@@tayojones9460 maybe but you do not know that
So... He's like the Thanos of Tron.
That’s clu
Why did "Tron" take so much Longer to "de-res"?
Two possible reasons: A) For the sake of plot and drama, the writers made his de-resolution much more drawn out for the main characters to continue the show or B) Tron's code and armor are made of much stronger code and protect him from de-resolution at a higher rate than other programs.
EmptyMan000 Those were my two guesses as well
FurryEskimo
I honestly thought the other disc was of the guard he killed, but I am pretty sure that some discs are stronger than others, either by direct coding, or evolution of code, and the next strongest disc that would be available would be Beck's if he died (There is Anon's disc, but not only did Anon die on a distant island, he died next to Quorra, and Flynn who was not too far away. Flynn programmed Anon himself and most likely buried/destroyed the disc, or kept it hidden)
Remind everyone that this is kid show even with all the deaths in show. It’s all right cause they’re program so tomato tamato
Could you do The Major from Hellsing Ultimate?
Perhaps, if I could piece the scenes together properly but I make no guarantees for him.
Possible Titles
"The Major Is a Nefarious Nazi"
"The Major is a Deranged Dictator"
"The Major is a Maniacal Megalomaniac"
"The Major is a Lethal Lunatic"
"Alucard is an Eccentric Eldrith Abomination"
"Maxwell is a Fanatical Fundamentalist"
"Anderson is a Pious Paladin"
"Integra Hellsing is a Dignified Dominatrix"
"Jan Valentine is a Vulgar Vagabond"
"Luke Valentine is Dog Shit"
The Major is a Pious Warmonger
Seras is a vulnerable Vampire. But just wait until you get to episode 7.
Makes me miss actually well written and well developed action cartoons even more. Back when villians were actually threatning and evil, not written as redeemable characters.
He Might be one of the reasons
the show got canceled
Okay UA-cam, I finally watched it.
Someone please let this guy have a Boss Fight in Kingdom Hearts ASAP!
Man bishop became a really jaded old man
TRON LIVES
Not exactly Sark, but close.
i like the idea wo general teslar he looks badass
For some reason I think Tesler is another version of Sark. Like a 2.0
Hunh. That Imperial, domineering villain is Orange. The evil guy dictating oppression is Orange. The villain is Orange. ... I wonder why I feel that's so relevant?
Orang man bad
Orange was always the bad colour in Tron. Though I do get your reference.
XD make one for Clu that's only 15 seconds long.
I tried to make my videos longer than 15 seconds but shorter than 15 minutes. However, if you want to make such a video, you may and can certainly do so.
