DiResta: Spike's Cat House

  • Spike is my new cat. I recently purchased much of the contents from a wood shop closing in Brooklyn. Spike was the shop cat. He came in the deal. He lives in the shop part time, but I figured he need a spot to call his own. Since he lounges around most of the time, he reminds me of a roman emperor: So I made him a Greek/Roman temple. I bought this as a gift for my friend ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxcZqgZ8Ynkiz5n_LxIWRlAicuzmz5kCHG who is just starting out in the world of wood work. He loves it!! There is a great section on different wood and what to use for what kind of job and a similar section for tools as well. The projects in it are things you probably would have a go at with clear instructions, pictures, videos and diagrams throughout. Great for a beginner/amateur wood worker.

Nice to see a man loving his cat enough to make this effort. It's not a simple cardboard shed, it's a temple. A lot of cats live in a really bad situation with no home or being abused just because people don't care. This video is showing a caring and loving pet owner. Hope you have a great day

    Spike:
0:00 Make me a palace worthy of my standing.
2:57 It must have splendid columns
4:17 That are as smooth as polished stone
6:39 A roof to shade me on the brightest of Days
8:39 This Palace is grand, but how will they know it is mine?
9:15 Much better, You my thanks human! Now to conquer an empire!

I read the description, and Jimmy said that the wood was from a shop I'm Brooklyn, and Spike was part of the deal. Imagine that conversation jimmy: " Yeah, I'll take all of your wood, and how about you throw that cat in to?"

Who else caught the layout being the Golden Mean - 1:1.6... i did.
I had to play it back 1/4 speed and pause it at 0:40 when he was stretching the tape.
He wrote 15 1/2" x 23". Pretty darn close by doing it by eye.
And the column numbers - 7 & 11... spot on with that shit, using the just right round size and spacing
That's the thing about this guy... everything he does he does by feel and always nails the proportions.
He definitely has a different mind that sees the world in ways different from we do.
He's tuned into the singular force which drives ... dare I say more than just life but the universe
It's like he's a walking fractal ... the deeper he goes the more fine tuned he becomes
