I never would have even heard of Rounders if not for this video! And the chips themselves are really cool, Adam! Also, to everyone who is sad that the chip company didn’t want their name revealed and haven’t watched Adam’s follow up video to this one all the way through: He misheard the company representative. The DO want their name out there! They are Classic Poker Chips, and they have both this video and Adam’s follow up poker chip video on their website as advertising. They are a REALLY good chip manufacturer, and even do custom designs!
Oh, yea, you could totally go with cyrillic! I do not posses much gambling knowledge, unfortunately, but: АБВГДЕЖЗ These 8 letters are first letters of the alphabet (excluding one which is by canon is not used in counting: "Ё"). I can imagine a big letter "Б" on the front (which is the analog of English "B" and the second letter of the alphabet) Could certainly happen!
There is a lock on the hard shell carrying case, but the exposed hinges are attached with Phillips head screws - which are also exposed. A wrinkle in the box security, but let’s cut some slack, it’s only a prop; and I love the look of that Yale padlock! Adam, keep doing what you do!
Near impossible to make true clay chips like these ASM/CPC ones are. The composite mix is very complex and difficult to replicate. Plastic chips can be made as cheap as 30c a chip. These CPC's you can buy at about $2 or less a chip, though not in this exact mold which is known as the roman mold. The master stamp was lost a while back and the last stamp they made from it has worn out. the closest they have now is the CSQ mold. You can also make custom CPC's, I'm in the process of designing my own set of those at the moment. Those get expensive real quick.
Adam, thanks for reminding me about this movie. I remember seeing this when i was 15 and how they ran up to Binghamton for a second to maybe play. I was impressed a popular film mentioned my not so popular hometown. Again, thanks pal!
Hello from Russia! If you just need a Cyrillic letter numeral, 8 first Cyrillic letters are А Б В Г Д Е Ё Ж , but(!) "Ё" is almost always skipped in numeration (maybe it's to similar to E? IDK), so it will better to use А Б В Г Д Е Ж З. If you wanna use the numbers in Russian, they should be: ОДИН (one) ДВА (two) ТРИ (three) ЧЕТЫРЕ (four) ПЯТЬ (five) ШЕСТЬ (six) СЕМЬ (seven) ВОСЕМЬ (eight) Good luck and happy Holydays!
I personally think that letter Ж in gold color will stand as a logo as well and it will look very cool to be printed on the side of the box. It will mean that this is the 7th case
I want a set! Rounders is my all time favorite movie. I used to watch it every day after school. I had almost every line memorized. It was the biggest reason I got into poker. Couldn’t last 5 minutes in my old home game without a “sitting the apple” or “you should have played those kings, Mike” reference.
CPC is the company that made these replicas, was called ASM back when they made the rounders movie props. They no longer have this mold though, the closest is the CSQ mold.
Native russiаn speaker here. Yes, we categorize things with letters as well as numbers. Letter G is "Г". "Box G" - "Ящик Г". Or you can use letters "Ё" (like e with umlauts). Or maybe "Д" if you like it more. I think is is better to write "Не влезай, убьет" which literally translates as "do not enter, it will kill you" You can find such a sign on substations and other high voltage electric equipment all around Russia. I think that is exactly what russian mobster would write on his box as joke or a as funny reminder to people not to touch it. Another option is to write "'Книги" which translates as "Books". Since you don't want to write a name of a valuable thing on a box, better to use this simple disguise. So he can casually walk around with a case of books. Maybe that is how he passed the customs? No one checked the books case :) Regards Dmitry
Love the concept, and the film Adam. You can tell by the jogging bottoms and the freshness of the biscuits that he never leaves. If he did, you would want an old small, faded and understated russian mob logo in the side bottom corner, like maybe the sickle and the skull. : )
Only Adam would be able to find the exact company that made the chips, and get them to make more. I have a feeling that if anyone, literally anyone else, called up they would have just sent them packing. That is so cool. And here I thought this was going to be a video about making the chips AND the case!
The chips used in both KGB's place and the Chesterfield Club were made by Atlantic Standard Molding (ASM) which makes custom chips for casinos and home games.
It took me a second to remember the oreos that Teddy likes to eat. I love this idea. Below a commentor suggested forms of the word bear in russian. That might work well with your oreo outline.
Nabisco, sounds vaguely Russian, that could work as a good joke. It reminds me of a friend who was a Navy helicopter pilot. He had a chance to fly a Russian (post-Soviet Union) helicopter and he said all the gauges looked like they said "KAOPECTATE."
I think it would look nice to stencil spray one card suit, and then underneath to write the suit name in russian cyrillic. Пики (♠), червы (♥), бубны (♦) и трефы (♣).
I have these!! I bought them from Classic Poker Chips, but with a different mold design. The mold design that the original chips in the movie had, the Roman mold design is no longer in production because the machine they used to make that particular mold is worn out.
@@jago668 That immediately came to mind, when he mentioned not wanting to get into trouble if seen in public. Definitely something you want to avoid, lol
Hi! I’m from Russia and I can help with a stamp. In Russia we can number thing like : 10А/10Б/10В or 10-А etc. as an idea I recommend you to make a KGB logo stamp on it or some Russian prison quotes like : Жизнь ворам. A lot of things in mind!
Quick googling showed that the KGB logo/badge looks pretty cool. I can imagine a distressed decal of that logo looking really cool. Alternatively, a cast bronze version of the badge would look really cool...or maybe they're available on ebay.
RocketCityGardener I think bronze version of the logo will be quite in touch with a Soviet aesthetics. Maybe Russian/soviet flag can be added to the case, they will look quite good on it. If case was transported from Russia to US maybe it could have a Russian Post logo on it. A lot of possibilities:)
Also we can see in the Rounders that Teddy KGB watching boxing match, probably it’s a match of Kostya Tszyu, a famous Russian boxer. You can add a also on this case a logo of Boxing Federation of Russia or the boxing gloves. As we can see Teddy is a fan of boxing and he probably could had such sticker on the case.
mynameisdaniil well in Russia people have tattoos on their back and got a decals on cars with a quotes so I think it will be quite suited for him as a character piece.

I really appreciate watching Adam talking about what he's excited for at the moment. I wish I could better understand his mind so I could replicate this level of involvement and passion for everything in my life. Thanks Tested!
It needs a little drawer for Oreos ;)
I never would have even heard of Rounders if not for this video! And the chips themselves are really cool, Adam!
Also, to everyone who is sad that the chip company didn’t want their name revealed and haven’t watched Adam’s follow up video to this one all the way through:
He misheard the company representative. The DO want their name out there!
They are Classic Poker Chips, and they have both this video and Adam’s follow up poker chip video on their website as advertising.
They are a REALLY good chip manufacturer, and even do custom designs!
Oh, yea, you could totally go with cyrillic!
I do not posses much gambling knowledge, unfortunately, but:
АБВГДЕЖЗ
These 8 letters are first letters of the alphabet (excluding one which is by canon is not used in counting: "Ё").
I can imagine a big letter "Б" on the front (which is the analog of English "B" and the second letter of the alphabet)
Could certainly happen!
sure it must be cyrillic. But why Б? im from CIS almost russia and i'm sure that they would write just фишки letters (chips)
There is a lock on the hard shell carrying case, but the exposed hinges are attached with Phillips head screws - which are also exposed. A wrinkle in the box security, but let’s cut some slack, it’s only a prop; and I love the look of that Yale padlock! Adam, keep doing what you do!
Why not have the bear logo in a spray painted stencil style? Can't help with the Russian, but the bear would fit with the idea.
Do you have a video on making this case? If not, I would love to see one!
I would LOVE to see Adam taking a shot at making his own poker chips from scratch.
If you wanna use the numbers in Russian, they should be:
ОДИН (one)
ДВА (two)
ТРИ (three)
ЧЕТЫРЕ (four)
ПЯТЬ (five)
ШЕСТЬ (six)
СЕМЬ (seven)
ВОСЕМЬ (eight)
Good luck and happy Holydays!
I personally think that letter Ж in gold color will stand as a logo as well and it will look very cool to be printed on the side of the box. It will mean that this is the 7th case
But the problem is that Russians don't use letter to enumerate things.
Your video inspired me to buy and re-watch Rounders for the first time in probably almost 20 years.
Love rounders. Why didn’t you play those kings mike? “Lot of action. Lot. Of. Action.”
An interesting problem. Maybe having Savage 'дикарь' written on there would be a good idea.
I think if you play poker it's fairly obvious who makes these chips, but I'm geeking out so bad right now. Love that movie- love the chips.
Who? :)
Native russiаn speaker here.
Yes, we categorize things with letters as well as numbers.
Letter G is "Г". "Box G" - "Ящик Г".
Or you can use letters "Ё" (like e with umlauts). Or maybe "Д" if you like it more.
I think is is better to write "Не влезай, убьет" which literally translates as "do not enter, it will kill you"
You can find such a sign on substations and other high voltage electric equipment all around Russia.
No one checked the books case :)
Regards Dmitry
It will be better with "do not enter it will gobble up u"
Ive got to thank you Adam. before this i had never heard of Rounders, so i went and watched it and it as a stellar movie.
You should have a letter on the case that says “don’t touch” in his hand writing just like he has on his Oreos
Love the concept, and the film Adam. You can tell by the jogging bottoms and the freshness of the biscuits that he never leaves. If he did, you would want an old small, faded and understated russian mob logo in the side bottom corner, like maybe the sickle and the skull. : )
I wonder if you have a former colleague with a degree in Russian Linguistics?
oh god, that's so cold. -nice one
How did you make it?!? Make a video explaining how you built the chip carrier!!! I would love a video like that. And it would help me make my own 😅
If only he knew someone that studied Russian.
A certain walrus-mustached beret-wearing man of many talents...
@jaradrabbit I’m pretty sure they don’t talk
Perhaps he should enlist the help of "The Machine!"
super random that I came across this video. happy that I did. I watched mythbusters for many years while back. love all of them
Adam’s got alligator blood...can’t get rid of him.
Lol I keep seeing you in the comments of videos I'm watching
Adam is into everything i love?!?! Drones, Poker, and VR jeez, he's the man
"I'll splash the pot, whenever the f*** I want"
Still my favourite movie ever
“In my club I will splash the pot vvenever-the-fuck-I-please.”
Only Adam would be able to find the exact company that made the chips, and get them to make more. I have a feeling that if anyone, literally anyone else, called up they would have just sent them packing. That is so cool. And here I thought this was going to be a video about making the chips AND the case!
The chip carriers are called birdcages.
That goes with my Red Sparrow idea!
Is that like the actual name? I've never heard them ever referred to as anything but racks before.
@@kp-ls4kq Yes. The chips go into a rack. The racks are carried in a birdcage. Like Adam said, most hold 10 racks.
I think the name comes from the Birdcage Casino in the 1880s.
Reverse causation. What do you think the casino was named after?
The chips used in both KGB's place and the Chesterfield Club were made by Atlantic Standard Molding (ASM) which makes custom chips for casinos and home games.
Made by ASM chips. Its nice that they let the groupbuy for those use the roman mold (edit oops ASM is now classic poker chips)
John S cmon man lol
If anyone is curious, the company that made the origiranl Rounders set was called ASM, which is now CPC.
Imagine airport security playing a few rounds in the back room while Adam waits anxiously by the metal detectors.
Rounders replica chips would be a great sale item. Awesome what you built. Love rounders. Hope we someday get a sequel
CPC do sell two stock rounders sets. Same company Adam didn't want to name (they list this video on their website now)
How about an Oreo with “Oreo” spelled in Russian in the center of the cookie? I think Oreos say Nabisco I’m the middle.
Never heard of the movie but the trailer looks good! I’m going to watch it tonight!
I think it would look nice to stencil spray one card suit, and then underneath to write the suit name in russian cyrillic.
Пики (♠), червы (♥),
бубны (♦) и трефы (♣).
Having knowledge of the casino industry, this is a very satisfying video full of little-known facts! Awesome!
I’d put a fake Oreo cookie in the case Adam!
I have these!! I bought them from Classic Poker Chips, but with a different mold design. The mold design that the original chips in the movie had, the Roman mold design is no longer in production because the machine they used to make that particular mold is worn out.
When you have to intentionally make your movie props worse to avoid the KGB.
There is an interview with Viggo Mortensen about eating out with his tattoos from Eastern Promises still on.
@@jago668 That immediately came to mind, when he mentioned not wanting to get into trouble if seen in public. Definitely something you want to avoid, lol
It's called FSB now
@@jago668 last minute of this video if anyone is interested ua-cam.com/video/KV0myun8b80/v-deo.html
What a great replica. Love Adam's passion in this S&T
I don't think it's a good idea to decorate it with prison quotes. If something - this is the one thing that can definitely get him into trouble.
mynameisdaniil well in Russia people have tattoos on their back and got a decals on cars with a quotes so I think it will be quite suited for him as a character piece.
I have seriously wanted these since I have seen the movie.. I’m super jealous!!! 👍🏻🇺🇸
"Сделано в СССР" - Made in USSR
Its been a year since I saw this... I wish you could show us how you made the case!
Cool box but I think it needs a Russian padlock. I don't think Teddy KGB would trust a Connecticut, Yankee's lock.
This is my favourite movie! Inspired to watch it again this evening
The early 2000's poker boom was mostly because of Chris Moneymaker winning the WSOP Main Event in 2003,
It was a combination of things.this movie started the ball..everyone was somewhat into poker and curious about it because of this movie....then moneymaker won in 2003 and pushed it over the edge
@@mlkabc123 Moneymaker himself was a big fan of Rounders
Love your hoarder cupboard, Things we collected in the past we knew were cool. I have a pendulum I need to fit into a clock. Its a bi-linear 11kg type-metal bob on a quartz shaft with a solid dual suspension spring in a 3/4" steel support. its a beautiful thing.
Maby a worn spraypainted logo of the bear on the side.
My god. I want these so badly. Watched this movie over 100x
Haven't you asked Jamie? He has a Russian degree, doesn't he?
Where I can find a person that knows russian and mobster life? -Adam
Jamie also counted money for the mobsters in the 30's, according to Adam, quickly corrected by Jamie, 'I was the hitman'.
That's really cool, lol.
For the outside of the chip case, may I suggest the strip of tape from Teddy's Oreo chip rack with the handwriting, 'Don't Touch - X' (and maybe a rack with Oreos inside the case).
Id say Chris Moneymaker was responsibe for the poker boom but those chips are amazing..
It's actually the other way, Chris Moneymaker was influenced by the movie.
@@hockeydarin Oh im sure Chris watched Rounders but a random dude qualifying to the wsop main event through a 40$ pokerstars qualifier, eventually winning the whole thing against well known competition (iirc Dan Harrington and Sammie Farha were at the final table) and that guys name being Chris Moneymaker? I mean you cant make that up and id still argue it was one of the major kickstarters of the poker boom.
Wow very impressive how much effort you put into getting everything technically correct. Impressive.
Doesn't Jamie Hyneman speak russian?
man , this is first time i saw a video of you. I like your charisma. Keep it up
