Door Not Closing Fix🔥👀

- If your 1995 Ford F-150 or OBS Bronco door doesn’t latch tight when you try to close it, you need to replace the bushing on the strike pin. These strike pin bushings can be found in the help section at most auto parts stores. If you don’t want to spend the money for one of those or you can’t find them. You can always buy half inch pex piping and cut one inch section off of it and use that as a strike pin bushing

👍
Hinge pins also can be the cause, door sag kills the bushing. Hard door closure deteriorates interior door panels, trim and speakers
was gonna say thatc
I bet it it’s door pins , not the latch pin
I made a way better video on foord door adjusting
@@graybeardproductions2597 would it still apply to 2006 models?
Nice hack brother
This also happens when the seatbelt is in the way.
Delete that along with the airbags. We die like real men
1/2" cpvc pipe works better will last much longer
Isn't PEX a superior?
Cpvp will dry rot and crack
God no not in winter. Pex all day for this.
For the love of God don't give people the idea
Blue pex is for cold water though. Not for Ford door latch bushings. U should always use the correct color pipe for the job
I bought a 6ft tube of PEX for about $5. Been using it for over a year and they still look brand new.
It’s the gift that keeps on giving!👌
That truck needs some door pins 🤣
I've never had that particular issue. It's normally the hinge bushings that we're out
Not on a ford is it
That's incredible thank you!!!!! I have been trying to fix this issue on my bronco for years
Good ole fords, I used to sell those bushings over and over, plastic fantastic
Also gotta make sure the door is aligned right, or else you’ll need another striker. Had to do a Mack truck door last week
Ford tip #3. Front disc brakes on an f100 have rubber bushings. They do not come w any rebuild kit. Use rubber fuel hose.
I have an 81 F250, the water pipe works great.
I need to replace that bushing on my 87 f250...good idea using the PEX pipe
Thanks man!🤙
In the past I’ve used electrical tape, but that’s just a bandaid fix for abt a month then it’ll get junked up.
Blue Teflon tape worked great for me.👍
I've got the pex pipe on all the door strikers on my '88 Ford escort. It's been on there for over two years still working just fine.
Hell yeah!
Jeff's bronco grave yard has that part plus a lot more for Ford trucks and broncos. From 60s up
My first job I occasionally had to drive one of these for a fabrication shop, I fought that door so damn much
Absolutely loving all these tips! 👍👍
Thanks Chris!🤙
Best color on an OBS Ford. My first vehicle (after getting my license) was a one owner SCSB 95, tow package, 280,000 miles in color code JA. It's name was Barney. It's the only vehicle I've gotten rid of that I continue to miss. I also had to replace the door strikers on the driver's side like 3 times, and the door pins/bushings once.
I agree 100%! It’s also a very unique color!
Worked on my broncos tire carrier too
Well that's how, gotta use them Phillips Allen wrench bits
They make a thick heat shrink that works good also.
Thanks I have the hinge pins kit but the pex tip was great thanks.
Man, I don’t know how to thank you!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
You’re welcome Gustavo!🤙
You can always look at the super thanks button👌
Gmc Jimmy. It breaks the sheet metal in the b pillar lol 😂
I’ve used that pex pipe to make shifter bushings. They’ve been in there for about 2 years with no issue!
Not bad!
Oh, that is cool!! Thank You!!
Thanks Travis!🤙
Thanks Travis!🤙
i used the one in the help section on mine but found i had to sand down the plastic part because the diameter was a little too big to work smoothly. been 2 years of daily driving since that repair and it’s holding up!
Nice! You’re not the only one I’ve seen having to do that. I kind of think the replacement bushings are all a little big.
If you look closely at your latch pin assembly, you will see that your pin has been pushed in ever so slightly, as evidenced by the sliver of discoloration around the right side of the silver colored metal section against the blue paint. Loosen that T-50 and pull the latch assembly back out to its original position and tighten it back up. see if the door latches properly, before replacing the bushing.
Old water hose and black tape works good too
I just put a 5/8 od pipe as a sleeve in place of my old one
You can also use nylon bushing inserts from trailer leaf springs. They are cheap like borscht and last for ever. I have some on my square body going on 5 years now. Still haven’t replaced them. Yes my square body is my daily.
Hinge pins and bushings are a common culprit as well. Quick fix if it's an old junker, put a jack under the open door and go up slowly just a little bit until the door works as desired.
Also the door hinges might need adjusting or replaced
I just cut the bushing in half and push them on it works just as well
Great tip!
My door in my crown vic would rattle when I hit a bump or pot hole. I put a piece of rubber tubing over that pin. FIXED IT.
Ok wow that’s really interesting and great to know thanks a lot for sharing I was wondering why my truck wouldn’t catch right thought it was the door out of alignment
Very helpful thanks man👍🏻.
Had to replace my striker in my 96 k1500. Easy peasey
Nice tip for people 👌
Nice tip bro thanks
No problem 👍
Also have to adjust the placement sometimes, had to slide mine foward an 8th of an inch, to get the door to shut properly with a light door close, no more slamming the door. Which does feel good sometimes.
This is also true. I know right! Isn’t it so nice to be able to close your door almost like a new car.
I was able to 3d print one for my truck. Been one year and its holding up well.
That’s awesome!
there is a lot of comments hear about various plastic pipe options and how long they last, I replaced mine with 1/2" copper, works great, and will out last any plastic out there
that's something I need for my 93 tempo
Wrap it with duct tape! It works just the same, add more to make it more snug, cut out with a security knife every 6 months and replace
Hahaha! I guess that works too.
@@TheMinuteMasters everything I do shouldn't ever be replicated, it works for me, but it could definitely be done better😂 also, it makes less of a clunk sound, alot quieter because the duct tape acts as a nice cushion
@@Mr.Safety. lol! I appreciate your honesty! Yeah I do see the benefit of duct tape as making the latch rattle less.
Electrical tape will work just fine
For a few months anyway
or the striker is out of adjustment, that year of ford had adjustable door hinges and strikers
Correct
Mine were completely gone when I replaced them makes a huge difference in shutting the door
I used to use a piece of a cheap metal broom handle as a temporary bushing
That would do the trick.
Awesome tip. Mine shuts but it's loose.
Thanks man!🤙 yup you definitely need the bushing.
My 99 and 97 outback both need literally all 8 doors to be slammed shut. I wonder if this is the cause… was just about to look this up lol thanks for the tip
Could be otherwise the latch can have issues too.
You’re welcome man!🤙
Pro tip: Sand the end so the bushing can roll freely after being installed. Makes door smooth 10x.
Very good tip!🤙
On my 96 the bushing was replaced with electrical tape, I pulled it off not knowing it was there for a reason and the door closed better and no longer required slamming
Earned my sub
Thanks man!🤙
Now I want red pex on a red truck
Also spray the door locks with chain lube, makes a world of difference
I've heard of some people using brass bushings as well. They say it's much more durable.
Interesting. Not a bad idea.
Break the bushing off with pliers and wrap it with electrical tape works every time no issue
You forgot to mention you can adjust the position of the latch part as well, its not always the bushing, i had this same issue on my truck but bushing was perfect condition
True
i love my RCSB 1994 F-150 4X4 XLT 5.0 5 speed only 112k miles and runs like a top!
I used electrical tape on mine and just wrapped a couple layers on it and it has been working great so far but probably not a permanent solution
That’s the best utility knife to have.
Gonna happen when you slam your door every time it breaks down every 5 miles
Which OBS Ford are you suggesting breaks down a lot? There’s a reason they are sought after homie. The 3.8v6, the 5.0 and 7.3powerstroke are all engines famous for reliability
Wrap it with electrical tape and stand back and admire your genius it 100% works
Hey that's great idea using the blue piping that's probably what wrong with my 90 f150 driver door
Yeah the blue pex is cheap and very easy to cut. Plus you get a life’s supply of replacement bushings. Lol
We always just beat’em with a hammer til the door latches, it’s a ford it can take it👍
Hahaha
The door striker and latch both wear together. Change them both.
And if ur a broke bastard like myself or lazy I put electrical tape around it and she shuts good until the tape gets worn away just add more tape that’s if ur lazy like me but this guy knows what he’s doin if u want it done right ✌🏼
Hahahaha
Another trick to avoid pulling the bolt out. > Cut PVC that fits the bolt (inside diameter as well as outside, probably 1/2" tube) in length needed. Take fine saw or grinder bit, remove about 1/8 " from one end to the other. Snap PVC over the bolt. If you still have scrap, use solder iron to melt piece into place making complete seal, add more if needed. Again, I have done this several times on old chevy, last usually for over a year.
that bolt with the bushing - Is the adjustment for the door - loosen the t 50 bolt and move it and retighten it (generally inwards) Fixed without bushing
Ok now I’m buying a length of pex if I don’t have any laying around lol
Color matched bushing
That would be cool!
Electrical tape works fine
You can also adjust it back more until you get a bushing
This is true.
Thanks 👌🏼
My dad used to use rubber hose on his 79 Ford F-150
Electrical tape works great to lasted 3 years till I sold the truck haha
About 5 wraps of electric tape will fix it in a pinch
Yours, however, is fine. Only needs adjusting to compensate for hinge wear
Thanks saul goodman
Fell out of my Ford taking a hard turn w/ my pit bull in passenger seat - dog hit me I fell out door (hinges and bushings bad. ) roll on 2 way street and stopped few feet before oncoming suv. As I was laid out on road watched the truck jump curb and hit a tree. Dog ran all the way home shaking. - all was alright but ya don’t wait on fixing those classic ford doors.
Damn that’s crazy! I’m glad you are ok!
Is it also Possibly because overtime the pin has been pushed back and you just need to loosen it and pull it out more.
Usually means your door hinges need to replace 2 the pin and the bushings In your door hinges
Biggest issue is the cab bushings. A-pillar sag will cause the door to not close properly, then the hinge bushings, then the striker bushing.
Very true
sad thing is the next gen (97-0whatever) had similar issues, but the doors would tell all, by cracking and ripping at the corner of the window. I still would drive a Ford over any others.
You can replace those bushings or you can actually adjust the door striker in words a little so the door latch gets a better bite I've had to do that because bushing seem like it was a little too long and it was pledging against the door
or you can fix the real problem, worn door hinges
@@halleffect1 why do the door hinge when it's the door striker pushing where it latches he was talking about replacing the whole striker and I, saying or you could have just replace that pushing which I have done before because a bushing keeps your doors from rattling wore out hinges who caused your tours to sag because my 85 S10 had wore out door pins and the doors saged my dad's 94 f150 need the door striker bushings replaced because the doors rattle
Fords supply a tip maker lots to work with🤣
Same on Panther Platforms.
Or gone.
I used a piece of 5/8s synflex (truck plastic airline),had to cut one side but it it's been there for almost 5 months with no issues.
Nice!
Garden hose over it work as kid
Also a skidsteer ripping the door off or strong winds may cause this
Electeical tape works too.
Sometimes the pen is shifted away from the clasp and it's not that the bushing is bad
You are remembering the tips on how to fix a Ford I don't think the numbers go high enough Chevy power
Bushing catches the latch ?. Wow I'd like to see that
The same problem will prevent your Bronco back window from rolling down
Thanks
It’s not lining up due to worn out pin bushings in one or both of the connecting hinges, not the latch pin. Extremely common issue with OBS F-150s. I’ve got a ‘96, myself!
That’s correct! I replaced both pins and this bushing.
Nice! Good year!
Check the door hinges also.
Yes hinges.
Same problem happens with square body chevys as well.
