I Built a Two - Speed Electric Bike!

As a fun project, I built this electric bike. I wanted something different than most electric bikes. I designed and built a two-speed transmission so it could go up hills faster, but also have a good top end speed. The low-range tops out at about 17 mph, and the high range tops out at 28 mph. The motor is a Leeson 24-volt permanent magnet over volted to 36 volts. The battery is made from sixty 18650 Samsung cells in a 10s6p configuration. The frame is a Specialized Expedition. I added a springer front fork, an eight speed Shimano Alfine hub, custom shifter, and a leather saddle and grips.
