I´m on the process of having FIVE spikes on my Satnhopea jenishiana to open soon, my Casio is ready to film them but I can not garantee such good results in order to show here as your´s and the other colaborators have. Thanks to all of you, dear friends and orchid lovers. Hope to see you all in your next carecollab.

    "I grow it in inorganic media"
    And Stan has decided to create his own microbiome around himself. "You don't want to give me moss, lady? Fine, I'll grow my own."🤣Now if you didn't have the new growths that came out of the bottom of the basket I'm betting you could just wrap the base in hob, criss cross two chains (+ style) under the orchid, and pull them up, no basket needed. Then you'd have less chance of spikes getting caught up.
    Also, I gifted Paula a maxima coerulea. OK, I was a little mean with the free plant I had sent with it. Well, you'll see one day when she puts out the unboxing.

      Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! And Stan indeed said 'hold my beer!' 🤣 I love that little micro climate it is growing and I am peeling off the hob material gradually without ripping new roots out, so, its only a little bit here, and a little bit there, but yeah... he is doing quite well within his little cosmos 👍🏼 I love the idea of the chains being the only thing around the orchid, and, you know what?? 😅 I would not break the lower growths, because I can easily pry the basket wire apart if I were to do what you suggest ... it is well worth thinking about and I definitely won't forget your idea, thank you! I don't want to spoil the surprise about what else you sent Paula, but... if it is a stinky one, then... you are a naughty boy! 😂😂 generous, but naughty! 😉 really appreciate you watching, Michael, and, thank you for that idea 👍🏼 hope your day was fabulous and that the evening will be chillax ❤️🌸

    🦒💖🙌🙏 You have grown the Stanhopea brothers so well, they are real beasts but beautiful beasts and delicate despite their size. The spikes seem to grow blind without a GPS to guide them 😬 What a shame that spike headed into the only place it shouldn't have, when there was so much free space to go to 🤔 The scent is fabulous, very, very pleasant. From what you say, your frangrance is a lot more powerful than mine, maybe because it's warmer at your end? I can feel it is strong and lovely in Stan's vicinity but it fades just a few steps away on the same porch. However, amazingly, I can feel it a lot stronger at a lower level, in the lower porch, where the other orchids live as if the scent found a better "highway" to spread on to. It's open space between the two porches at that corner, right by where Stan lives. It has been an amazing week, I have been mesmerized by this blooming, so distracted that I even forgot to give it water a couple of days 🤨 With the cooler temps and 96% humidity I may get away with it. I went to Lisbon yesterday and although it was warmer there it was also foggy/cloudy and humid. Hoping it clears out later this pm. Thank you so much for Stan my dear NIna, I love it, love it. Wishing you a bright, sunny and fruitful day with much love to you and yours 😘🥰🤗💖

      FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 Beauty and the Beast... meine liebe Freundin.... all wrapped into one basket! Fantastic!! I thought I had the perfect basket... shallow, sturdy, big squares... and along comes Stan the Man and says 'watch me!' 😅 it's fine! I am glad that he bloomed out and even though I would have loved to have had a few more spikes, it is the back end of the orchid and needs to recover and grow properly. I am happy with the progress and I am very happy to see how it is growing a little micro climate all of it's own. I am cultivating that micro climate because, it in itself looks so magical! I suppose the fragrance on my patio disperses more evenly, because the covered portico is open on all sides, including into the living room, so it has the ability to disperse in all directions. I don't know... as long as you enjoyed and were not disappointed, after me going on and on and on about the spectacular blooms and fragrance to go along with them. Just glad that you are not disappointed 🙏🏼 Thank YOU for being so ready to give Stan a home! 🙏🏼 I couldn't have asked for a better person to have him!! Happy 😘 hope your weather has cleared up as well, amiga mia! Thank you for being so on top of this CareCollab! I am glad that everything worked out so perfectly 🙌🏼 wishing you a relaxing rest of your evening ❤️🌸

      🌸🥷🏼 Bob San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 hi!! Fast forward several years and the care has only changed in the amount of fertilizer and calcium this orchid gets! 😅 I am mind blown as to what it has done in the recent 10 months, after it got too cold in the winter of 22/23 and lost a lot of leaves. Now it looks like that never happened and well... aeration is going to be an issue if it repeats another 40+ growths for 24/25! But... thank you so much for your comment. Your's will take off for real next year. In the second year of having my Stanhopea, it grew 15 new growths. So... buckle up my 🌸🥷🏼 friend! You may need an annex 😅 thank YOU so much for watching and thank YOU so much for the incredible support here 🫶🏼 have yourself a wonderful start to the new week ❤️🌸

      Hi Stephen 😍💐 unusual ... that is a great word for these blooms! That word describes what I was trying to babble on about!! Unusual!! It would have cut the video length into half if I had used that word 🤣 I need me some more new growths on the side that had the spike growing, or else it will all be a little lopsided, and also, because I want to close the gap between the orchid and edge of the basket, so that no more spikes get caught. We shall see! Right now, I have new growths in the middle of the orchids, which is great, but... I am hoping to have one, at least, coming out of the other side 🤞🏼 thank you for your kind comment, Stephen, and for watching! I got your email, and will get back to you... You have a Cattleya Nina?? HI Jose 🤩💐 it is growing everywhere... I need it to grow in the direction of where the spike got stuck, to shorten the distance to that side of the orchid and the edge of the basket, but... so far, there is nothing coming out of that side. New growths are all in the middle ... I hope, that will change. But, what an amazing orchid 🙏🏼🙆🏼‍♀️ well worth having an orchid that just grows and even changes it's media according to it's preference! This Stanhopea bloomed with 20 blooms this July and if you would like to watch the video on how Stan spikes behave and see this year's blooms here is the link ua-cam.com/video/WTnNvMKjddY/v-deo.html It was not a single bloom show this time around, which surprised me, but there are a lot of things I have observed since the care video aired. Just in case ... because you are going to LOVE growing Stanhopea and if you have space, it won't just stay with one 🤪 Mine is now growing 14 new growths... its an insane orchid, I love it! @@NinjaOrchids thanks for such a warm welcome! I slid onto your channel last week and just loved that you put the health of your orchids before their blooms. I’ve been hooked watching your videos whenever I have time now! I have a very large area with high light for my Vandas and I think the Stanhopea would just love it there. It’s bright, warm and great air circulation. I was able to cover my hardwood flooring with a protective mat so now I can just mist away whenever I would like to, instead of hauling my hanging baskets to the shower every time I need to water. With this current setup I have, I feel like the Stanhopea wouldn’t be much trouble at all. And it offers a humidity of 68-74% at minimum. Some days my humidity sits at 82-84%

      @NinjaOrchids  2 роки тому +5

      🌸🥷🏼Trish San 🥰🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️😍💐 good morning, or good which ever time of day it is when you get to read this reply 🤗 real estate... indeed! Years ago, I was thinking that this one will have to bloom first, I will find my feet with this genus and then get me some more! Uhhhmmm yeah!! I thought about adding hooks under the cover of the blooming alley and have 2 more hanging like chandeliers, but if Stan needs 'help' then I have to accommodate him as well. The box I sent to Fernanda was 3 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet and I had to make a makeshift ledge of industrial stiff foam to not squash the growth that was underneath the basket. It was not a plan to ever send Stan away, because, dang... size! And... sometimes things happen, weird... I had this massive box, of such sturdy quality, don't know where I got it from, but never threw it away because it was just such an amazing box. When Fernanda said she would 'deal' with the logistics, I did not have to look twice and the box was perfect. So, I guess it was meant to be. But the real estate issue, that is a true issue, and he is a messy one when it comes to watering because he drips everywhere, which, indoors...👎🏼 I am happy to geek out over the blooms, year in year out with you in mind 😘 thank you so much for watching, meine Freundin!! Much love to you and I wish you a beautiful 🌸🥷🏼FriYAY!! ❤️🌸

IF I had known how massive these can get, I would probably have shied away from buying it. Also, back when it was little, I had it indoors in the winter... as it grew I did not have the space anymore, and that had me concerned because these are warm to hot growers.... my winters are not warm!
