"No Mercy" is a short but really great quest, too bad it's not on Nexus, i'd love to play it again. Another one is simply known as "Vigilant of Stendarr Quests", it's an earlier but overal great mod. Let's you join and perform series of quests. Seems unifnished, since it just stops after a number of (really good) quests. Third one is "Faction Vigilant of Stendarr", let's you join after performing small tasks and it's good for role playing since you can patrol the regions, brew potions or just chop wood, in addition to hunting monsters. Then there's the Vigilant mod, that I've heard is great and will paly on my next playthrough. Interesting NPCs has a mod involving Vigilants and it's actually amazing, worth checking out. Edit - Also I'd recommend Stendar's Beacon Enhanced mod, simple mod expanding the beacon in a lore friendly way and good for role playing a vigilant.
I once played a holy character build and named him Rolan Ignitus, an imperial. I used the alternate start mod to start as a vigilant of Stendarr wondering around skyrim doing quests whilst making my way to helgen. By the time I returned to the hall of the vigilants, my brethren were slaughtered and burnt to the ground by vampires. It was then where I honed my warrior and holy abilities to prove my worth to not only avenge my fallen comrades, but be a true vigilant of Stendarr to rid the daedric abominations to oblivion.
I'm were wolf dumb dumb I hate vampires they kill the innocent I only kill who deserve it except when my characters insaneses takes over and I kill innocents on accident

Pjer Dujmovic There's a mod that makes the Vigilants of Stendarr a joinable faction with Keeper Carcette being alive. She gives you some radiant quests. It's not much but it pairs up well with the Alternate Start and Dawnguard.
Plus lets be real. Like in real life there probably are different interpretations of the same figure even amongst the same region as is to be expected with a semi-decentralized religion. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised is some of his previous incarnations like the much more strong fisted Nordic one bleed into the local cults.
Daedra worshipper aren't really someone who will give mercy to others. They will probably soul trap you and then offer your soul to their daedric Lord.
I personally think that the vigil's use of maces(I always see them with maces) is supposed to emulate the Hammer of Stendarr, as a mace is the closest thing to a hammer.
I'd love to see a build about a Vigilant of Stendarr who keeps accidentally stumbling upon every Daedric quest, and is a reluctant champion to them all untill he basically accepts he's destined to be a daedrologist. Oh, and he's super sarcastic.
Time for Skyrim Jokes: Yo Mamma so dumb, she tried to book a flight on the Dragon Bridge. Yo mamma so dumb, she thought Alduin was a genie who granted 3 wishes. Yo mamma so skinny, you could block a door with 2 Lydia's and she'd still get through.
@@sporeham1674 I believe the second joke was attempting to say that "Alduin" sounds similar to "Aladdin". For the first joke I think it's because the bridge is named "Dragon's Bridge", which could infer that it is a literal dragon that can fly, hence "booking a flight"
how do the vigilants feel about dark elves and their traditional worship? and similarly, what about orcs and malacath? and Meridia in general since they both share an immense hate for the undead?
I think it depends on the Vigilant, but most have a very narrow view of the Daedra, believing any and all Daedra to be evil alongside their followers, even ones like Azura
I wish the Knightly orders that were around in Arena and Daggerfall were present in the Modern games. Have the warrior monks like the vigils but then also have the knights of Stendar to make being a vampire more challenging. Heres how it goes so vigils of stendar in restoration robes wielding blunt weapons they believe their faith will protect them, Dawngaurd are fanatic and better equipped but are reckless and more akin to the people crusades and so have subpar stats, but then Knights of Stendar in heavy plate using a bunch of Stendar's aura, and vampires bane and wielding great swords enchanted with sun damage and they could have a chantry or temple of stendar at like the mouth of a river Edit: Changed wielding blunt to wielding blunt weapons
Ken Rolston, one of the lead designers in Morrowind and Oblivion (he wrote imperial Legion and Imperial Cult questlines), wanted a knightly order dedicated to each Divine in Morrowind game, similar to Daggerfall, but that idea was either rejected or they just didn't have enough time. Imperial Cult was the last quest written for Morrowind, in quite a hurry so it was very rushed. Originally it was planned to be much more fleshed out. Also, there's an unused Imperial Knights faction in Morrowind's Construction Set, with one of the higher ranks being a "paladin". Supposed to be a elite faction of the legion with knights and paladins.
It is kinda silly that the Vigilants don't even carry anything that effectively takes advantage of the shrine blessing in Skyrim. 10% extra block for spellswords who neither use shields nor even have the ability to block with a weapon as they use spells in the left hand. They don't even typically wield two-handed weapons that could at least do weapon blocking, and 10% extra block on a Silver Greatsword would be pretty handy against the undead and werewolves, but they don't even carry silver weapons - just plain steel from what I can tell - only the Silver-Hand carry silver weaponry. The Silver-Hand are more equipped to deal with *the undead* than the Vigilant of Stendarr are, and most of the Hand are basically bandits with a bone to pick with werewolves. And just look at the spells they are equipped with: Levels 5-25 only Oakflesh and Lesser Ward, two incredibly weak and ineffectual protection spells, and only the most basic healing spell. I think Isran is right, the Vigil is under-trained and under-equipped to deal with the unholy threats that plague Tamriel. If they are meant to prevent another Oblivion Crisis, then Mara have mercy on us all.
The Vigil and Dawnguard are my most favorite factions in the game. It's a shame you can't join he former. I hope the next Elder Scrolls has some successor to either of them. I love playing the righteous Holy Knight (doesn't hurt that the Dawnguard armor looks awesome too).
Has anyone had this happened before. I freed a prisoner of the Thalmor. They attack because of course they do. Next a random vampire appears who is being chased by vigilants. My character is a vampire so the Dawnguard appear. Needless to say I unlocked a few vampire Lord perks from this encounter.
Upon reading up about the vigilants, I can see why Isran gave up on them; they’re spread too far out, and require refinement within their doctrines. I love the concept so damn much, and their flaws, from a writing perspective, make them even more interesting.
Been tempted to role play as a templar for lots of eso quests. Whilst the light and burning sun sound cool, it seems as though they are self riteous imposters. Plus, the grudge held by their main god stendarr means they are against anything not mortal simply because they are said not to have souls ,instead bring vestiges not having defined themselves with a sense of self. I cant imagine them getting on well with the pawn legion in dragons dogma either if they were a part of that universe
If they make an elder scrolls lore based movie it should be the song of pelinal that has to be one of the coolest stories in the lore and would make for a good film
I have trouble with seeing Stendarr as merciful after meeting Kellen in kotn an young man who has been weak and sickly his entire life from a curse because his forefather offended Stendarr. If we hadn’t come along to take on the curse he probably wouldn’t lasted much longer. There is nothing merciful in that. I see Stendarr and his worshippers as something that appears nice. But look closely and it become a lot more rotten.
Mod idea, Joining the Vigilants adds more deadra to hunt during random wild events, cities have more vampires in disguise or deadra worshipping cults meeting in taverns or shops afternight. Some require combat, some can be talked down or reasoned with. Maybe even integrated with Wintersun for gaining favor. Quest expansions for deadric items to collect and "severe" the deadric connections. Lore friendly reason to own all artifacts without every deadric lord claiming ownership of your soul...

I think Stendarran concept of mercy and justice is very realistic and far more complex than a mere good guys vs bad guys cliche. Pretty standard for Elder Scrolls games. Compare to the real world pacifist movements who, in order to preach pacifism and world wide love and tolerance use rather violent methods. P.S. My first comment was a poor atempt at being sarcastic :)

Hey, wait a minute! You say Shor is Lorkhan? where'd you get that from? that doesn't sound right at all. Mainly because Shor obviously still exists and whether he actually lives in Sovenguard or not he must have direct contact with the place. He's able to issue orders at any rate. Shor would also seem to have more honor than Lorkhan.
This theory is popular in the TES lore community for a long time. It's pretty much confirmed by everyone. And that Dragonborn is a shezzarine, avatar of Shor - Lorkhan. Lorkhan is a missing god, Shor is also missing. Shor's bones are used to create Nirn and Lorkhan is also responsible for creating the mortal world.
...but the dragon born is created by akatosh? Shor is apparently not missing, as i said he can communicate with the people in sovenguard and they all seem to know where he is.
I also believe that Dragonborn is created by/is an avatar of Akatosh. I don't really know much about the connections between Shor and Lorkhan, it's something I've only read a bit online, but it's a very popular theory.
I just checked the Elder Scrolls wiki and it says Lorkhan is Shor. It's in the lore book "Varieties of Faith" found in Morrowind, so I guess it's official.

Great stuff
Have you guys ever played Daggerfall or ESO? I feel like excluding two rich and lore heavy games is kinda dumb imo.
Can someone who's a Werewolf be a priest/Cleric of Stendarr and by performing good acts and follow Stendarr's teaching would he be able to cleans himself of his lycanthropy?
1:31 the vigilant should stick to those ideal, but they don't.
I wish we had more on Julianos.
Im thinking of buying the game on Xbox one, but im going to get a pc later on, that this game have xbox play anywhere feature?
Don't wanna end up buying the game twice
Stendar swordsman build???
That'd be cool
The Vigil will be watching you.
You need to make a stendarr at build soon
*me* runs by as a Breton in full Forsworn armor, carrying a Bound Battleaxe
*human Vigilant with a fucking Dunmeri Vigilant LITERALLY RIGHT BEHIND HER* "ooh... such colors!"
Like, I get that they're straight-up Eldar-before-Fulgrim-on-Maiden-World incompetent, but just... Eight and fucking Talos, woman...
*a mercy god that kills something that needs mercy.... 10/10 logic*
Why can't we all just love each other in a peacefuil and tolerant world? :(
Alexander Guerrinus that's against the laws of life bud. To live , you kill. Be it men , animal or microbe.
Alexander Guerrinus yeah , when you think about it , if you can't save something , you destroy it and give it peace. Simple yet complex don't you think ? Btw , work on your sarcastism man :)
"If you want peace, then prepare for war."
love lore videos
Nice vídeo!
:)
Its 3 in the morning but fuck it I'm watching thos
When a vodeogame religion is better than the real life ones (Shinto apart, but that's a personal opinion). Anyway I don't know about you guys, but I'd worship Stendarr.
I wish most of the people in Skyrim would accept at least ONE of the Daedra (cough AZURA cough) since they aren't all bad.
For the average person in Tamriel, they *_are_* all bad.
And here i am killin' every vigilant i manage to find :D
Same here man especially because I'm a werewolf
The Crow same
Blessings of Stendarr upon ye
Walk always in the light or we will drag you to it!
The Vigilants of Stendarr are lame asf. The Crusaders aka The Knights of Stendarr are way cooler.
Stendarr Vult
Better than the actual justice league
Android he was talking about the shity movie
The movie was okay/average and I'll admit the DCEU needs fixing, but JL *comics* are a thousand times better more entertaining than Marvel comics these days.
Emrys Wledig I agree but most people (and a part of me ) think that it was shit
I don't really know much about the connections between Shor and Lorkhan, it's something I've only read a bit online, but it's a very popular theory.
so, no *official* confirmation then? Like i said, it just doesn't sound right based on what I've seen in the games.
I just checked the Elder Scrolls wiki and it says Lorkhan is Shor. It's in the lore book "Varieties of Faith" found in Morrowind, so I guess it's official.
Dude this god is lit. I know who I'm gonna worship noe
Anyone else come here to find out what armor mod the vigilantes were using
This video is better than the JL movie.
If only their temple is not a repurposed tavern
4:10 You okay there, guy? Your leg's a bit, uh... nevermind.
I may make a Stenderr themed build using Dawnguard heavy armour Dawnguard rune shield and Dawnbreaker though it may not be from Stenderr i see Merdia as the exception when it comes to daedra. I'll use restoration spells of course to spread his word
So basically the only God's worth worshiping if you're human are Talos Shor and Stendarr
